Hello let’s learn some magic this is the first in a series of basic hex casting tutorials intended to get you ready to make use of the NK manual and the hex casting forums links to the online version of the manual and the Forum are in the description as well as the link To the curse words page for the mod itself casting is a magic programming mod by petrac magic is powered by media obtained from amethyst and shaped through hex patterns to start the mod you will need to mine amethyst clusters in addition to the usual amethyst shards they have a chance Of dropping amethyst dust or charged amethyst Fortune increases the amount you’ll get of each the amethyst Golems from ours Nouveau will also produce the dust and the charged amethyst but it might leave those on the ground now that you have amethyst dust and charged amethyst you’re ready to craft the basic hex Casting tools the hex casting notebook is crafted with one amethyst dust and a book you also need a staff this is crafted with a Charged amethyst and sticks and an evenola plank the various planks result in different styles of staffs but they all have the same functionality including this edified Staff which is made with an edified plank which I’ll show you how to get later in the video if you need your staff right click in the air this opens up The Hex casting pattern left click on a DOT on the grid to start drawing a hex pattern You can go from your initial point on the grid to any adjacent point but you cannot go between non-adjacent points if you make a mistake simply Trace back along your path to your original point and release you can escape from your hex grid and shift right click to clear then start Over after you’ve made a correct hex pattern in the grid you can escape from the hex grid and your pattern will remain stored for you to continue this is especially helpful since you may need to refer back to your hex notebook to make sure that you’re doing your patterns in the correct order Patterns are drawn either clockwise or counterclockwise this initial pattern here which identifies me as the Caster is done counterclockwise if I attempt to draw it clockwise and give it an error at this time the mod provides error messages that might help you with knowing what has gone Wrong with your spell now about how to clear garbage on the top of the stack in a later video x patterns do not need to be oriented in any particular direction as long as the pattern is drawn counterclockwise it can be drawn in any direction which can help you with fitting all of The hex patterns onto your grid there are ways to make the spacing of this grid smaller so that you can fit more patterns onto it and again that will be addressed in a later video now what’s the most important thing to do with a magic mod break blocks attack enemies Set things on fire from a distance fly no it is to make sure that you’ve got the right color magic well perhaps not but changing the pigment of your magic is a very easy first spell to try the mod provides a variety of pigments that Can be crafted and used with a spell to change your magic to suit your own personality these are all fairly cheap to craft and we’ll just use four amethyst dust and the item that specifies the particular coloration I like having my magic back to my dress so I prepared a cyan pigment Once you have your pigment hold your pigment in your right hand make sure you’re holding at least one piece of amethyst dust hex casting is an exact change only magic mod and it will used charged amethyst if you don’t have amethyst dust in your inventory as you can see here The pattern is a figure eight beginning in this direction followed by a rhombus narrowly outlining my place Sentinel is now cyan and that’s Sentinel incidentally is pretty far away next let’s look at selecting a block you’re looking at and breaking it as with non-metrical programming there are many Ways to accomplish anything that you want to do this is a fairly basic sequence for selecting a block that you’re looking at look at the Block that you want to affect open up your hex casting grid the first pattern identifies you the caster the next pattern turns you into a Location in the world you’ll notice that my position on the top of the stack has been transformed into coordinates I’m going to once again refer to myself next I’ll Transform myself into a vector of the direction I’m looking at and then we’ll use Archer’s distillation to combine my position the direction I’m Looking at into the coordinates of the block that I’m looking at once this position is set I can exit the hex grid and do other things and as long as I’m within about 32 blocks I can then use the break block pattern to break the block now that we’ve got That let’s try one more spell being able to exit the hex Grid in the middle of a spell is helpful if we want to affect entities rather than blocks for instance to edify a sapling we can place a temporary block quickly do the select block pattern extra grid Replace the block with the entity we want to affect and cast that portion of the spell edifying the sap plane creates a notified tree which can have one of three randomly selected Leaf colors the resulting notified logs can be crafted into a variety of decorative flanks and also into an akashic bookshelf An akashic record and the akashic ligature today we covered how to break blocks and how to edify saplings next time I’ll cover how to select the surface of a block you’re looking at how to place a light or a block or a mage block or a sentinel on it Video Information
