18 Secret Features In Minecraft 1.18 You Didn’t Known About! Minecraft Bedrock Edition

Hello everyone sally here and welcome back to another minecraft video today i’ll be showing you 18 secret features in minecraft 1.18 the caves and cliffs update is finally here and it brings so many different features to minecraft however the change logs are rather short and it’s had a long development period

So there is a lot of things that you might have missed or just completely forgotten about so first up we have a feature that we’ve been waiting for for a very long time on bedrock edition and that is the ability to instant mine the bamboo using a sword as you can see it

Kind of kills the durability of your sword but it does work really really well and now you can just swing through an entire forest of bamboo no issue and you don’t have to wait to slowly mine things with an axe as you can see even

If you got another right axe it is still super slow to mine this stuff and this is what we’ve been dealing with for years on bedrock edition so this is a very nice feature to finally have a smaller feature that’s still important for decoration is the fact that all

Types of ground foliage can now be placed on mycelium as well including all types of saplings and grass all the nether variants all of the flowers including the two tall varieties even the drip leafs and the dead bushes this opens up a lot of different options for natural terraforming and decorations

However the only two things that can’t be placed on it is of course the cactus and is the small drip leaf this one still requires like clay and water and the cactus of course still requires sand a super nice hidden feature is the fact that you can now take damage while

Flying and it doesn’t actually deactivate your elytra previously any little bit of damage that you would take would deactivate your elytra and you would fall straight out of the sky but now you are free to crash into all of the trees all of the mountainsides and literally whatever you want and that

Elytra is not turning off until you tell it to axolotls now only spawn in the lush caves so if you want to get yourself a cute little oxoloth you’re gonna have to go caving find yourself a lush cave biome and then scoop one up luckily there’s also a bunch of tropical

Fish in the lush caves now so they’re going to be pretty easy to lure and to breed up as well tropical fish will now also pathfind and run away from oxolotls so if we summon in one of these guys as you can see the fish are actively

Running away from it and trying to escape they don’t do a very good job of it but they do actively try to run away now so now you can see a little bit of predator and prey action whenever you find an oxoloth and some tropical fish in a lush cave campfires have become

Extremely useful for caving now so if you break these things with an axe or just by hand you’ll actually get four charcoal from them this is a quick and easy way of getting some charcoal for some torches or maybe for a furnace and it’s actually way easier than smelting

Down the logs directly so crafting a single campfire only requires one charcoal and three logs and then the three sticks that it takes to make it is way cheaper than any fuel that you would need to use to smelt the three logs in the first place so you can make yourself

A quick a campfire maybe smell some food on that and then break it to get a little bit of charcoal throw that into a crafting table and then the four charcoal that you get will give you 16 torches this could come in super handy when you’re down in the darker parts of

The world 1.18 is the update of copper for example breaking a regular ore without fortune 3 can give you anywhere from two to five of the raw copper meaning that you can get two additional ingots a per copper ore that you mine now and of course mining the stuff of

Fortune 3 still increases your drop rate as you can see we just got 30 ingots from a 5 copper ore and mining a single copper ore can give you 20 ingots if you have fortune 3 so make sure you are fortunate that copper copper crafting has also gotten a massive boost in 1.18

As well normally when you try to craft some copper blocks it’s going to be one block of copper to one cut block of copper so it’s exactly one for one however if you put these things into a stone cutter it is one to four so a single block of copper will make the

Same four blocks of cut copper or you can put in a one full block and get eight slabs for example and you can even do this four stairs as well getting four stairs from a single block so in essence copper is now four times easier to build with copper blocks now properly oxidize

In the nether as well so if you want to build of copper in the nether it will naturally turn into the blue and green variants over time however you’ll need to wait until 1.18.1 for this to be properly implemented so you’re going to be finding a lot of copper underground this stuff is

Basically everywhere however if you find yourself a drip stone cave even if it’s a tiny one like this one right here copper is auto magically two times more common and the copper veins that you’re gonna be finding are absolutely huge you’re gonna be getting multiple stacks

Of copper per vein whether you have a fortune or not seriously you’re going to be drowning in copper just by going through a single one of these caves like look at that we just got over three stacks of copper ingots from one little patch of ore there’s been a great update

To the render distance slider that i’ve been wanting for a very long time so now if you go into your settings and your video settings you can actually adjust your render distance by increments of one so i can have this all the way down at five chunks and as you can see i

Can’t even see the bottom of this hill or we can increase this ever so slightly to like 11 chunks and i can see ever slightly further or if i want to i can increase this all the way up to a very nice numbers like 95 chunks and then i

Can see for absolutely miles this is a super handy feature to have it’s going to make it so much easier to get the render distance that you want and it’s way better than the large increment systems that they had before so previously i only had the options for 16

32 48 and 96 and that wasn’t particularly helpful however this system is so much better and i think you’re going to enjoy this one a lot more there’s a new game rule in this update that makes it so that when you click on beds or respawn anchors they will not

Explode so this is a feature that happens in the nether and the end dimension sometimes these guys can explode if you click on them however as you can see if we turn that game roll on they will once again explode this is actually incredibly helpful for preventing griefing on your minecraft

Servers and i would highly recommend that you turn this game rule too false that way things don’t explode and you don’t have to worry about it we have an absolutely huge buffer to the hero of the village effect so now when anyone helps defeat a raid in one village

They’ll be given hero of the villager for 40 minutes this actually stays with the player anywhere in the world that they go so if we go ahead and visit another village in the world we’ll still have this effect and villagers in that village will still give us a discount so

As you can see we’re now in a different village and this dude right here is still giving us the discounts because we still have that hero of the village effect so this is a super powerful thing you can set up a raid farm in one part of the world and then a villager

Training hall in another part of the world or maybe even visit multiple villager training halls with the same hero of the village effect and get those stacked discounts this also applies on top of the zombie curing discounts as well so you can have like doubled discounts 1.18 also comes with removed

Features as well so mine shafts will no longer generate the large dirt rooms that were literally in the game for 10 years and never properly utilized so you’ll no longer be able to find those although you might find some awfully weird square rooms like this one right

Here where a dirt room may have generated but now it’s just kind of a mysterious empty room if you’re hanging out in aquifers you may have noticed that there is the occasional magma block and this is a sneaky new feature as well that was added to make it so that you

Don’t drown however there is a bug where these guys don’t update and actually have a bubble columns on them so you might just be out of luck and drown anyway oh okay i lived oops sweet berry bushes have had their functionality fully restored so now mobs will no longer pathfind through them as

You can see this zombie is going to stop dead right here at this berry bush so this means that you can encircle your entire base or build in some berry bushes and that will keep out swarms of mobs which is incredibly convenient it’s worth mentioning that the berry bushes

Have to be fully grown with the berries or without them if you just have the tiny freshly planted berry bush that’s not going to do anything at all they will walk right on through that there’s also a small secret feature regarding super flat worlds so if you scroll down

And you select the super flat variety and load up a brand new one in the 1.18 update the very bottom of this world is actually going to be way down at the negative 60 coordinates so if we turn on coordinates as you can see we’re now

Down at negative 60 so this means that you can build all the way up to 320 i believe and that just gives you a lot more room to work with just to show you how much verticality that is we’re currently at y 320 and if we were to

Fall all the way down this very tall bamboo all the way to the bottom of your super flat world that is how long it would take to fall so yeah you can build some really tall redstone another very interesting secret feature of 1.18 is the fact that if you have a hole going

All the way to the void like this one right here 1.18 will not actually generate new terrain underneath it so if you’ve put in the effort to remove the bedrock going to the void or just removing bedrock in general 1.18 isn’t gonna fill in new blocks underneath this

And new bedrock underneath this forcing you to do all that work over again this is actually a really interesting decision it could be a bug or it could just be like an accidental part of the game however it’s actually really nice for people who have decided to actually

Dig out these kinds of perimeters it makes it so they don’t need to reinvest dozens or even hundreds of hours into breaking the bedrock again so currently we are in 1.17 so here we are updating the world to 1.18 right now and as you can see we still have a hole going to

The void all of this terrain right here is a y0 and then everything down to negative 64 on the walls is perfectly fine and perfectly normal but as you can see they didn’t generate a new bedrock floor and they didn’t fill in any of these blocks either this is actually a

Really really elegant decision and it really does show some respect for all of the technical players who have put in a massive amount of effort with these types of void parameters actually a really cool little feature in 1.18 i hope it’s a feature anyway it might be

A bug but either way it’s actually legitimately pretty awesome and the final not so secret secret feature is the 1.18 ore distribution here is the graph the official graph from henrik over on twitter this shows all the actual places to find ores in 1.18 i would highly recommend screenshotting

This and then keeping it on your phone or something that way you can reference it all the time knowing where to mine in 1.18 is going to be incredibly important because you’re going to be needing a lot of materials as is always the case so keep in mind that you’re going to need

To be exploring multiple different wide levels of the world and even multiple different biomes in order to get the best ores and the most plentiful amount of ores as well this update really does hammer in strategic mining but otherwise i hope that you have greatly enjoyed and
