If you’re here that means you’re not having a great time running Minecraft in VR and who could blame you fivecraft is one of the most performance intensive Minecraft mods and that is because it has to render the game twice one for each eye so I found some odds to Hopefully make your VR life smoother and good news is is that most of these mods are client-side real quick before we get into the mods I’ve linked some helpful videos in the description so that you guys can make sure your PC is in Tip-Top shape before we start Now we’re not in Minecraft yet because I wanted to show you how it is for me to boot up vanilla vivecraft it’s extremely slow stuttery and completely disgusting to look at in VR now that we’re finally in a new world we can take a look at our frame rates at a Render distance of 12 standing completely still is the only way to keep a high frame rate so let’s turn that down to about six this is only half of what we had before and only now is it becoming playable but what could we do if we added some mods Starting off we’re going to be using mod sodium and lithium both of which are made by the same developer and they’re a First Choice performance mod that many people value over a big name like OptiFine sodium uses many optimizations that lower the CPU overhead by around a 90 Percent while rendering the world and lithium focuses on things like game ticks mob Ai and physics without changing the vanilla game mechanics with just these two mods installed we can already push our render distance and see little difference to Performance but we’re trying to get the most out of VR let’s continue The next two mods we’ll be looking at are Starlight and Foster Unfortunately they are incompatible with each other but I will be showing both first up is Starlight which is the one I primarily use this mod completely rewrites the game’s lighting engine this is so the Mod doesn’t have to try and work with the really unoptimized vanilla lighting system and significantly reduces the times for light calculations on the other hand there is phosphor Which is less invasive than Starlight and made by the same model as sodium and lithium it attempts to change as little about the Vanilla systems while adding the most performance so while it can be less performance enhancing as Starlight It Is by no means a bad alternative okay remember when I wanted to show you how bad it was to launch vivecraft well these mods are going to help with that One is called lazy data Fixer-Upper or lazy dfu Minecraft caches every rule required to convert older worlds to the current version that’s being launched including every version in between this may not sound important but it’s very CPU and memory intensive which causes Minecraft to take a very long time to Boot up the second important mod is Dash loader which caches all of the content on the first launch then loads the content on subsequent Launches on top of that I’m going to squeeze in as much as I can and throw in smooth boot as well The next few mods might not make a large difference on their own but can be helpful if used with the rest of the mods I’ve listed entity Colleen uses async path tracing to skip rendering blocks and entities that aren’t visible more choline does a similar thing but Extends it to leaves clouds item frames Etc ferrite core and memory leak fix both help reduce memory usage and leaks in the client and the server fast load will get you into your world’s Faster by generating less chunks and if you would like to try it concurrent chunk Management engine is an experimental mod which improves chunk performance and is a server side mod if you plan to use c2me the developer recommends backing up your worlds because the mod is still in its Alpha stage I use it and I haven’t seen many issues very many players helps with performance If you’re on a server with well very many players and dynamic FPS will make Minecraft take up less PC resources if it’s in the background immediate fast optimizes all immediate mode rendering of entities block particles block entities and more exordium renders HUD elements at a lower Frame rate so your PC can focus on world rendering fast atom speeds up or even scraps animation calculations that are unnecessary to improve performance and finally Krypton is a mod that improves the Minecraft networking stack which lowers CPU usage and a server tick time helping out with lag And here it is after installing all of these mods you should have some consistent gameplay I am still capping out at 90 FPS but that is because of my Quest 2 settings you may be able to go higher with these mods installed you should see a significant boost to all Parts of the games booting up should be smoother your frame rate should be more consistent you could probably install mods and still see little effect if after all of these mods you’re still crunching for FPS then make sure you turn steam VR display off and the desktop display completely off in your Vivecraft settings so all of your resources are dedicated to VR another tip I can recommend is to turn your resolution down for viacraft to between 70 to 90 and make sure that super sampling is on finally I wanted to show you what these mods are capable of so I’ve installed Distant Horizons which lets you see much further than your normal render distance without a huge performance drop for something like this I’d recommend using chunky so you can save your computer the struggle of generated all those lods but once you’ve got it going it is beautiful To play it I even got it running well in terrellith I hope this video has helped you get started in vivecraft please let me know if there’s any other mods you think I should include if you’ve made it to the end of this video please leave a like And subscribe it’ll help the channel out more than you know with that being said my name is goober until next time Video Information
