Welcome back guys today in this tutorial I’m going to be showing you how the animates or textures like this and pretty much any minecraft texture I’ve been getting this request from a lot of people and before you watch this video I would recommend you download my texture Pack and just check it out the link is in the description and I will teach you how to make this texture in Adobe After Effects and put them together to make an animated texture in Minecraft so enjoy the video alright guys so first of all you need three things you need Adobe After Effects CC or it really doesn’t matter what version and an application called texture Packer it’s a free version and you can pretty much create textures and it’s designed for video game design but you know they’re great for making minecraft texture packs so first of all you want to open up Adobe After Effects okay once you’re in After Effects you want to go to composition new composition core whatever you want um d so that’s what I’m going to call it make sure it’s 512 by 512 or whatever ah size of the texture you want and duration you want this to be one second And background color to be black so now that we got that we can go to project and import your diamond sword I’m using the same sword arm that I used in my stamina v2 texture pack it’s based on bro beast pack and so once you’ve Imported that is drag it on and as you can see it’s just an non animated sword layer so now you want to do is composition I mean no layer new solid and call this something like particles and make it black now you want to do is go layer I mean effect Simulation CC particle world now if you got this weird particle thing and it doesn’t look really good so what we want to do is you go to these grids and stuff like that that we don’t need I’ll just change the gravity to zero and just go blue Um light blue and I’ll make the particle type safe faded Saphir I think yeah and set this to add um what you want to do is just make it look nice for example sizes I’ll change the size on Liberty down a bit birth rate actually no I’ll Change it the other way around okay so pretty much pick it a bit yourself and change the size variation opt around 40 max opacity 30% you want to set the velocity that wall which is like so it’s like more spread out ah 1.4 is good um that’s pretty much it so I’m actually Going to copy this file and I’m just gonna um save that and this is the actual um sword project I did for my stamina v2 texture pack so it’s pretty basic as you can see it’s just kind of animated and I’m gonna whoops I’m gonna just copy and paste this Effect because it’s a lot easier demo okay this is the one we just worked up so I’m gonna actually change that to this because I know this works now just stop it it around this point where it’s pretty much spread out and you want to pre compose this just call it particles Again or is it another and make sure you check move all attributes into the new composition that’s okay and now I click it again time freeze right now it’s just a frozen particle layer now set the mode to add if you don’t see this mode thing just click this button over here Toggle switch modes and that’ll bring you the mode options so after you said that to add you want to pre compose this again just call it particles again and set this to add again for here you just want to go layer mask a new mask now you Just want to use this tool to create some points and now I’m actually going to change the composition background temporarily so I can see what’s going on behind it this tool up here the the pen tool I’ll just create a mask real quick drag these points around and make them fit this all Nicely okay so now that we’ve got the mask can only see the particles where the mask is so double-click the particles composition and you’ll get this other composition that is a freeze-frame and what you’re going to do is apply the effect offset is search for that and Under distort offset you want to drag this on to the composition and a big just scroll to the beginning of timeline click the stopwatch button and it will add a keyframe now scroll over to the end and you want to you want to change it so that it kind of Scrolls and you Want run about here like one rotation so it overlaps so now that you have two keyframes what you want to do is close this and you go back to the Assad composition and you can already see it’s animated so that is pretty much how I Animated the sword what I also did was I added some glowing effects to this place to select your dinosaur layer and press ctrl D now that duplicates the layer now I’m just going to quickly change the background back to black and just so I can see everything now what you want to Do is for this one go layer mask new mask so you create a new mask and with the shape tool are changing to ellipse tool and just make a circle press shift while doing it to make a perfect circle now if you press M on this next If you press M on this you’ll be able to see three masks and I believe the first mask which is the rectangle so you’re only left with a circle and as you can see without the bottom layer circle that’s visible so it’s just enable these Again and I’ll set the mode to I’m just going to leave it as ad and um if you don’t see these options just click the arrow and you’ll have a bunch of options like mask ever you want to change the fella to around 40 pixels it’s easier to See when is no other layers so all the feather does is that this makes a smoother as you can see right here there’s like a boundary between the edge of the circle and a background so when the mask filter is applied you can see that it’s now smoothed out and it kinda Has a gradient so it just leaves us an around 40 pixels and I’m just going to enable the out the other layers press m and then keyframe last path by clicking the stopwatch icon double click on this and drag it to wherever you want at the Middle around 15 frames in you want to drag you want to drag this back down to say here copy this back again so I’ll just go we’ll see and at the end control V basically you just want to make it slap it this mask moves sauce off here And then it moves to the other side and it comes back it’s very simple now as you can see this was already very similar to what I had in my texture pack um except I just worked in it and tweaked it a bit more and what I think I Did was duplicated this again and then let’s just oops and let’s just call this um sword go I’ll just set this to add again go layer mask new mouth and then just create a new Sofia or circle and then delete the rectangular mask so you’re only left with that again Now let’s do the exact same thing mask filler there are some around 40 pixels scroll to the beginning move the circle through the tip of the sword you’re not keyframe last part scroll to around 15 frames actually not hang on go back to the beginning and then drag the Masks to our beginning of the sword and then add around the middle point arm drag this to the tip and they could go over the tip so it’s like that now as you can see it just kind of moves that way and then disappears and then when it Starts again when it loops back it’ll go it’ll appear again and then it’ll just be like a shine um I’ll just change the opacity of this layer so press T for opacity change this to around 30% should be good actually instead of add on a change in this to overlay so it doesn’t Cover the contrast and that’s pretty pretty much the basic sword I have a carnival what else I had but um I’m just going to save that this I think the particles were a bit slower they’re not as like strong here we just have the exact same thing This mask moves up and down this mask moves across and this one I’m not sure that it’s the same thing I think and this one is the basic source as you can see if I get rid of this this is the overlay that’s on top of it and It’s pretty much it alright guys so um here we have the author effects project we just made um so now I’m just gonna basically put everything together and render it and make it into an animation but what I want to do is make the background something that’s distinguishable so it’s a bright pink Now there’s no other bright pink bits on my sword so later on I could just select all the bright pink areas and I’ll just delete it to make the background transparent I’ll actually do with my actual project so as you can see this is the same project I use for my texture Pack I’ll play it through and this is the after effects project now I want to go to composition add to render queue at our output module you want to go our custom format PNG sequence and that’s pretty much it that’s all you need to do I think and ah best settings just leave It like that just render it anywhere to desktop or whatever and I’ll just save that press render and then it should render like that okay great no it just created a folder called done sort and it’s got 30 images and if you put them together they’re animated so as You can see if I put it in ListView um this is what it will kind of look like to actually animate it used texture Packer like I said before so I think it’s free on the App Store and already have to download it from the internet but here’s the free trial version what You need to do is uh I’m just going to drag all of these ctrl a and then just drag all of these into here so now you have like a kind of spreadsheet of textures now you don’t want this you want to organize them into into a line So what you want to do is first of all geometry for mine each of these is 500 by 512 so a cross which is lip do you want to have 512 or however much you have it so say you’re making a 64 by 64 texture pack you want to make this 64 And you want to take that number and then times this by however many friends you have say I have 30 frames now that is the amount of pixels on it to be high so 15 360 so I’ll just enter that in 15 360 just leave all this like that not Too familiar with this but you’re not get rid of all the borders ah get rid of the padding and I am set the constraints to any size you go publish diamond sword desktop whatever just replace um okay good exit texture Packer here’s the file we Just made now you want to go you want to duplicate this just so you have a backup let’s put this somewhere and for this one you just want to open it with preview or Photoshop or whatever you have and just basically remove the background pink as you can see it’s pink I’m on a Mac I have preview I’ll just go like that and delete and that pretty much just makes everything transparent now all you want to do is quit preview so this is the new texture you have and say you’re making this resource pack go assets minecraft textures items and see Already got this but this should be a done sword in there you want to drag your diamond sword into it and go replace and you pretty much replace it and this won’t be there I just added that but this will be what it’s going to Be like okay so as you can see if you go into blocks you have a portal which is pretty much the same thing but there’s also a thing called portal dot PNG MCM inner you’re going to want to copy this Chelsea and control-v okay well now that You’ve got this you just want to rename it to armed Dimond underscore sword in your texture pack folder go to um items and then just place this in here and you’re done in the resource packs folder drag this into there now we now we have is you can change your resource pack all Right everything is done I am in minecraft as you can see oh my god okay so here we have the diamond sword and as you can see it’s animated so there you have it and okay the textures are a bit glitched so this is the one from my texture pack And the diamond sword is why I just made just it and I think I screwed up because the particles are going in the wrong direction and yeah so I need to fix that but since this is just a tutorial that’s basically how you’re gonna animate textures and this is this is pretty much The same thing I did for my texture pack except um I fixed up the edge pixels and as you can see the edge is a bit weird but it’s my first time ins computer so I have a like Optifine or anything but that’s pretty much the animated so Texture and as you can see it’s what we just made like just then hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you want me to show you how to make some more other stuff like animate the iron sword let me know in the comments and leave a like subscribe and I’ll see You next episode Animating Items and Blocks:
In this tutorial I go over how to use Adobe After Effects CC (AE CC) on a mac to demonstrate how to animate a sword. It is the same way I made the “Stamina V2” pack, with swords based on Brobi’s texture pack. It covers all the render settings and using an application called “Texture Packer” to combine all the sprites into a thin line (can be done manually, but that is way too time consuming). Photoshop or Preview can be used to remove the background to make it transparent.
