This is the lionberger dog this is an absolute Beast of an animal and it can weigh up to 170 lb full grown just like look at this thing it could absolutely crush me without even trying but you want to know one of the craziest things about this frankly incredible animal it Only has an average lifespan of about 8 to 9 years now that’s not a short period of time by any means but You’ think that it would be at least 11 to 12 years or so in comparison we have this absolute abomination of nature the miniature doxin which I do love dearly Would you want to guess its average lifespan 12 to 16 years let that sink in this tiny little dog lives longer than the dog that was bred to look like a lion this makes no sense and just like these two dogs in the video game industry we often have some lion burgers And some dochin games that are massive and successful and don’t last as long as they should versus dochin games that are somehow still alive and kicking and it just doesn’t make sense so with that bit of a ridiculous example out of the way let’s get into what we’re going to be Talking about in this video and that is taking a look at six long lasting games that aren’t only still alive but are thriving even in this era of game instability and we’re going to be taking a look at these in order to try and understand what makes them so popular And why some games and genres will most likely always be around sit back grab a coffee and let’s chat hey you you’re finally awake you were trying to cross the border right so right off the gate I want to say I’m not going to be going super in-depth to all these games I Haven’t even played all of them but after I’ve done a little bit of research I’ve nailed down kind of the surface level reasons for these games popularity and speaking of the games I have sorted them into three different categories I could have chosen many different games And I’m sure people will comment ones I should have talked about right but I decided to stick to single games not just series or whole genres even as I feel like that would just be too convoluted for one video and honestly too much for my brain to handle the First category of games that I want to analyze are ones that have player-led content at its center with the two main ones being Minecraft and Roblox I know a lot of games can fit into this category but these are two that as you might know have been around for literal ages like I Play Minecraft in Middle School 10 plus years ago and here I am today playing Minecraft still but speaking of Minecraft first Minecraft is the game I have the most experience with and I actually recently joined a Minecraft SMP server run by the best streamer ever herb and it’s the first time I’ve really Played Minecraft since middle school 10 years ago like I said well I guess 10 plus years ago anyways obviously the game is drastically different now and houses infinitely more ways to build explore and customize your experience like with Incredible mods that I’ve found and been able to mod my own game And has really made the experience just so different and fresh for me but the foundation that 13-year-old me enjoyed is of course still there when I first played Minecraft it was for just the fun factor and the building and the fact that I could play with friends not that I had many Now That I’m Older though I’m able to experience it through a completely different lens not only is it simply entertaining and playable with others it’s now kind of been a way to meet and play with people I never would have otherwise considering many of them Are halfway across the world but the biggest appeal to both Minecraft in Roblox that I finally understand and that I think is one of the biggest reasons for its longevity is how relaxing they can both be Minecraft often more I like many others often play games to unwind but nearly no other game Has been able to lull me into a relaxed physical and mental state as well as Minecraft often I can boot up a game and start unwinding but soon find myself annoyed at one game mechanic or another and then that completely negates the motivation for playing in the first Place with Minecraft I have yet to experience this and it’s such a player-driven experience that if I find myself getting annoyed at something nine times out of 10 it’s just myself now before I continue talking about Minecraft I want to hop over to Roblox really quick because like I said this is Not a game that I really have any experience with with and honestly I didn’t know Roblox was still around but a year ago my younger sister was still playing Roblox and I was genuinely surprised cuz I like I said did not know the game still existed and I asked her Why one the reason she played it back then was and it was some of the same reasons that I said I played Minecraft back in the day it was entertaining and fun and you could play with friends and I think both Minecraft and Roblox have that super easy entry level for any age And you can kind of do whatever you want and it’s not like a live service thing but there’s a Sandbox where you’re limited only by your imagination and you can share all that creativity and chaos and fun with friends and even more in Roblox like I had no idea there are all These different servers like with intricate roles and rules and player things basically like mini GTA 5 stuff inside of Roblox I remember my sister showing me this whole police system where you could be a cop and you had to go hunt down and get bounties and all these things like I was genuinely Impressed that Roblox a game I thought did not have much of a following had all these mechanics and things for people to enjoy which again is because of this player-led content idea that the players can create and do whatever they want we saw this back in the day even with Halo Forge and that was one of the reason Halo continued especially Halo 3 continued to be ever so popular because of the forge mode because of people being able to make their own Maps make their own modes share with friends have a good time now back to Minecraft this Player Le experience for me Isn’t personally what I find the most entertaining the most appealing because where Minecraft shines for me the most is in its atmosphere I have loved the last couple weeks of playing this Minecraft SMP and just hopping on Minecraft even if just for like 10 15 Minutes and just enjoying the the landscape and environment especially with the mods that I have it’s just so relaxing when the ambient music kicks in during a rainstorm when you’re floating down a river and the Sun hits the water just right or with this mod when the sky Fills up with the lights of an aurora I can’t help but pause and take a deep breath in Basking and the beauty of it all it’s this experience as to why I think Minecraft in particular has been such a staple for so long as it’s been Able to appeal to such a wide variety of Gamers you have younger audiences still being captivated by just the fun of it and being able to play with friends while you have those that are older that are being able to continually revisit the game they love simply to exist in it And more importantly to kind of Transport you to when you first discovered it and times were often simpler and that gives little escape from reality and relaxation that many games don’t provide and that is a perfect segue to the open world section of this video that I want to discuss Where we’re going to be specifically touching on Skyrim and GTA 5 and ironically yes these particular games will be getting continuation in the series sometime soon in the case of GTA and probably in 2077 for Skyrim but I do want to touch briefly on why these two In particular have been a staple of the imersive open world games for a better part of a decade these are both games that I actually haven’t played myself but I’ve always been interested in and Skyrim in particular I know I’ll give it a shot one day but my backlog is just Too massive right now and Warframe is destroying my gaming time I recently made a video on Warframe as well and if you want to check that out it’ll be down below and uh hey while you’re there why not consider subscribing or giving the video a like it really helps out and I Very much appreciate it anyways even though I haven’t experienced these games I’ve seen discussion on each over the years and for those who have played either GTA 5 or Skyrim generally tout one simple thing as to the reason they love their respective game and that’s the immersion there are a myriad of other Reasons certainly but in doing a little bit of research into why people still continue to love both of these games the immersiveness of it all was the primary reason particularly with Skyrim much like Minecraft provides a player-driven experience both Skyrim and GTA provide the same but inside of an immersive World that you can get lost in and in the case of both games games you can pretty much do whatever you want in any order you want and that’s kind of a bit of the player Freedom now I may have just said that immersion is a simple Reason for these game successes but in reality proper immersion in a world is often one of the most challenging aspects of game design it’s very rare noways that a game is so perfectly crafted with characters lore and an interesting world that is both fun to explore as well as simply exist in That’s a lot for one game to try and do and that’s a lot for one game to try and do well personally the only game that’s ever fully done this for me is cyberpunk 2077 as I have yet to experience Skyrim but in researching what people love About Skyrim I found that cyberpunk has a lot of the same elements that make up Skyrim’s continued success aside from immersion such as fleshed out RPG elements and interactive and live world with Rich history and new secrets to uncover every playthrough this is not even taking mods into account since Skyrim is the most modded game on Nexus mods and has thousands of ways players can improve and alter their experiences further leading to repeat playthroughs and ways for new players to hop in this immersion in the world things to explore characters to get to know and fall in Love with and a massive world to just be in is easily the main reason for the success of both of these games and since I don’t have the play knowledge for either GTA or Skyrim I can’t really talk in more depth about either but from an outsider perspective it does seem like All of these aspects are just woven together so well in a truly interesting world that it just keeps people coming back again and again so if you’re a fan of either of these games let me know why it is you keep playing and if you want a Bigger better picture of why Skyrim is still amazing after all these years I’ll link a video essay below that I watch in preparation for this video it’s really amazing and you guys should check it out all right now on to the last category which I left for the end because it’s Easily the one that I know the least about but again try to do some research and try to figure out why these games are still popular and these are competitive Esports games and particularly league and CS go so we’re going to start with CS go because I have More to talk about with the league I I don’t understand why CS is still popular if I’m being honest even after doing research I only kind of get it with both league and CS you have this high pressure fun deep gameplay experiences that is simple to understand but hard to Master in the case of Cs Go the game concept is very simple uh apparently it’s just kill everyone on the enemy team before the timer ends or diffuse SL plant and protect the bomb and I believe that’s essentially it so very simple concept not easy but simple but it’s Very hard to master essentially and obviously the Esports scene is a huge part of both Cs and league and CS in particular is pretty easy for a spectator to watch with limited game knowledge I watched a little bit of competitive CS to try and figure out What the deal was and I could pretty easily for the most part understand what was going on in addition to this though there’s an individual skill expression aspect of Cs that seems to be one of the things people really enjoy the most about it I looked into read it a little Bit to figure out why people really love Cs and something someone said is that everyone has an equal opportunity at the beginning of rounds where there’s no unique abilities or utility at like other Shooters like valerant which can encourage teamwork and communication to try and win the rounds um which is Something I found really interesting that there is this like high level of strategy and skill sailing but the entry is pretty low and that’s not like a ton a ton try and figure out and understand so that’s kind of the the main Basics that I found with cs if you’re a CS go Player please UNL me down in the comments because I have not played and I probably don’t plan to it doesn’t really look like my type of game but I appreciate it more that now that I kind of understand a little bit now on to League of Legends baby now this one I Actually have played a very little bit of League um but I think one of the main reasons this game is popular honestly from all the research is um the well-written characters and you know the skin designs are just really well there something all jokes aside I have played League of Legends I’ve actually played quite a few games in the past and I’ve also seen Arcane so I can understand a bit of the game’s appeal with the World building and such right even though that’s not a main focus of the game itself I did very much love Arcane but I Have some streamer friends who have actually played league and when I asked one of them VI why they enjoy League it essentially came down to the game being simply a fun little burst of combat intensity and playing with friends that is similar to CSG go because it’s simple To understand but difficult to master with league in particular it seems it’s even easier to kind of get a grasp of at least like there’s a lot at you and it can be overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be apparently you can start pretty easily and learn at your own pace Because you can either go casually or eventually grind and go for competitive but why would you want to do that now I can certainly see the appeal of both the games and there’s continued popularity because in a way it’s kind of similar to Minecraft and Roblox where in those Games the player driven experience comes in the form of creation and exploration in Le and CS it comes in the form of player Improvement which for some some people is infinitely more powerful and alluring than their own creations and ideas in Minecraft you may hit a limit Of simply not having any ideas of what to do next but in a competitive environment there’s always some way to improve to grow your skills much like a physical sport and just like a physical athlete can almost be addicted to the process of training their body and their Mind for the goal of improving on a specific sport I believe these games among others like it scratches that itch that most people have of seeing Improvement and not to get philosophical but this is ultimately a human condition we all like to grow whether it’s a physical mental or gaming area it Doesn’t really change that the a lore of becoming better is something we all can strive for and when used right this desire is something that humans can harness to not only improve specific skills for their own purposes but to grow in order to help and serve others As well and I think that’s something really really honorable to wrap all of this up in hopefully a nice little bow I want to say this these games among many many many others that I could have mentioned all can be continually popular for however long and can be these Infinite games that seem to go on forever but no matter how good a game is it can’t continue on forever but the experiences that people have with them can because those can last forever in our minds and our and our shared experiences with friends and that’s the Real reason I really wanted to make this video because we all have our own Skyrim or Minecraft that that maybe the majority of gaming communities don’t play anymore more but you do and you love it and you enjoy it but one of the key connecting pieces that I hope you Could see throughout all of these games is that they’re best enjoyed with people people love to experience the things they love together so I challenge you to go try and do that with whatever game you may love the most and I hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll see you All in the next one thanks for watching Video Information
