Minecraft Preview 26.40.31 Fixes Arrow of Harming Bug

One week after the cushion and straw bed preview dropped, Mojang has already shipped a new test build addressing combat issues, crashes, graphics support and bloated skin storage across Bedrock devices.

If you are testing the new cushion decor or straw bed in Bedrock Preview, the next build is already available with fixes. The patch is small but it hits real pain points that players have run into since the last drop.

Key Changes in 26.40.31

  • Arrows of Harming no longer bounce off entities and are correctly consumed on impact (MCPE-239756)
  • Fixed multiple crashes that could occur during normal play
  • Corrected device tier selection so more hardware can enable Vibrant Visuals (MCPE-239742)
  • Skin and Character Creator packs now auto-clean using least-recently-used logic, cutting disk usage and speeding load times (MCPE-239513)
  • Dedicated server connections now enforce a strict timeout when probing for NetherNet support

None of the changes touch the new dappled forest experiments or the chaotic sulfur cubes from earlier drops. This feels like housekeeping while the team preps the third major drop of 2026.

Fast follow patches like this beat months of silence on known issues. The arrow fix in particular should make combat feel reliable again without waiting for a full release.

You can grab the update through the Minecraft Preview app on Android, Windows, or your console’s beta program. As always these builds can be unstable so keep a backup of your worlds.
