Amazed by ibxtoycat’s EPIC 1.20.40 Upgrade!

Hello I’m ABX toy cat and just one week before Halloween Minecraft has brought out a brand new update for all Minecraft Bedrock platforms and every single feature in this update comes in the form of a bug fix or parity change so 1.2.4 is not a spooky update but it is a much

Needed one so what else can be found in Minecraft 1.2.4 well actually a surprising amount there are two major new features which will genuinely make or break your life depending on whether you know about them but there are also all sorts of minor changes like Boss Bar

Color changes a brand new cat noise and also all sorts of bug fixes that you’ll really appreciate learning about as well as small changes in parity that do represent a few minor nervs or Buffs the Bedrock depending on how you want to see them but we’re going to be going into

All of those today uh there is a huge change log for this update of course but rather than just explaining it all line by line I’ve taken every single one of these features and we’ve explained them all into these simple amethyst pillars each of these represents one major

Feature you’ll want to know about starting for example with light no longer randomly appearing throughout the world without a source it used to be that random strips of light would appear in your world and this is something that’s existed since 1.20 that no longer will exist as of today the same is true

For buckets these are something that have been broken for a while now they will quicker what they would do is they would quickly pick liquids back up immediately after placing them uh something that was very very annoying and made MLG buckets tricky but now the

MLG bucket is fixed to show you what I mean right here when you place down a bucket of water there is no chance of you being able to immediately lift it back up and the reason that is true is because there is a delay between you putting down the bucket and scooping it

Back up to show you just how big the delay is I’m going to spam my left Trigger or right click right now and you’re going to see just how long it takes me to pick that water back up meaning there is now a little bit more

Of a bug cuz you can’t place water and have it just last for one or two ticks instead we’ll spread to the fullest of its extent which is maybe a bit of an issue but it’s made up for in my opinion by the MLG W bucket which is now back

You can place water down and it won’t immediately unplace it leading to your death something I am massively appreciative for but again this is is something which does need a little bit of work in the future and so we might see that in 12050 but for now what else

You’ll find in 12040 our Guardians and Elder Guardians making flapping noises on land so this is a bug that’s existed since 2017 a 6-year old Minecraft bug has finally been fixed because basically uh Guardians and Elder Guardians don’t very often get on land but if they do they make this fun new

Noise oh he’s standing on there we go it’s kind of like a wet kind of pushing noise it’s a very very weird squid but now both Guardians and Elder Guardians will make this when you put them onto land and by the way Guardians on land are you know nowhere near as nightmar is

In the water but they’re still very very annoying to deal with it does have to be said so yeah I would not recommending deal recommend dealing with them but if it really came down to it just know that now you don’t have to do it in silence you’ll know where they’re coming from

You might also appreciate knowing where you’re coming from with regards to the falling in a boat this is the second biggest change that will affect your life off the water buckets I want to get them in here nice and early uh for falling in a boat now negates all full

Damage which is a Java par item to show you what I mean here let’s go all the way to the top of the 1.20 sign and as you can see from all the way up here I’m going to get in a boat and fall and just

Like on Java I will take no full damage as a result this is a huge change I cannot understate this enough and they haven’t also brought in the change to horse fall damage meaning that right now I’m sure not for very long right now on Minecraft Bedrock both horses and boats

Will negate full damage while you’re on them something which is a big positive change I feel like it’s a bit janky that boats do prevent full damage it doesn’t make any sense to me but it’s how they did it on Java and so it’s how they’re doing it here on Bedrock speaking of

Things they’ve done on Java but not here on Bedrock yet the skull sensor will now detect closing chests from the boat with chest and mine cart with chest as you can see this is a skull sensor it can’t detect when you’re sneaking around but

It will now be able to detect when we go into this boat with a chest because we’re opening a chest technically speaking there’s no opening animation for this which is kind of odd if you ask me like how does the how does has the chest open there but whatever the uh the

The noise that is made when we look inside despite the game not being able to show it to us is now represented by the skull sensor the skull sensor will also notice when we press this button for the slash give command but if we use the SLG command to give myself say some

Uh enchanted golden apples look at what happens now there is a noise as if we’ve just picked up the items something which I think is positive it used to be entirely blank and it used to be that you you would even necessarily know besides from that message in the top

Left so this is an improvement as far as I am concerned and look at me I’ve now got 64 golden apples I’m playing half creative half survival to the best of my ability look how wonderful it is next up we have uh the uh when you’ve got armor

On we’ve got this uh chain chest plate on right here uh when you’ve got armor on as well as having absorption uh no longer will the text from anything overlap with these uh different items this means that we can have super long names for items and it still not cause

Us issues with it overlapping big positive Improvement you know what else is a positive Improvement uh rabbits now eating carrot crops that’s right though feed themselves it’s actually a little bit of a problem some would say uh but yeah I’m just going to quickly uh spam

Some rabbits in here and uh you’re going to watch something interesting which is the rabbits will reverse the growth of these crops do you see that it literally went down a bit because the rabbits say a few carrots here and there and these carrots maybe will suffer the same fight

Fate it is uh not a very likely thing as you can see we’ve got all of these car these uh you know rabbits in here and it’s still happening very very slowly at normal tick speed but just keep in mind if you have too many rabbits near your

Carrots they might just mess them up which I think is absolutely hilarious right I mean maybe it’s just me who thinks that’s hilarious but rabbits can now eat carrot crops you know what else can now be eaten zombie villagers will now show the correct biome variant so

Just to show you this one nice and simply um this is a zombie villager look at him he is a desert villager cuz we’re in a uh we’re in a Mesa biome which counts as a desert for for zombie villager reasons which is a nice Improvement also the respawn radius is

Now set to 10 by default instead of five this more than doubles the amount of respawn space that you have because instead of spawning in a a radius of five it’s a radius of 10 meaning you can now spawn in 400 different locations instead of I think it was 100 before um

Big big big difference if you ask me you know what else there’s a big difference adding the missing sounds for filling a bottle from water filling a bottle from a cauldron and emptying a cauldron and drinking a bottle so to show you all of these right now these are noises that

Didn’t exist before this one as well as this one oh wait that one as well as this one this one and then that one of The Cauldron emptying and you’re kind of hearing it did you notice that there so one more time ooh you can kind of hear

That it’s all gone also um something that I think is fun is drinking a water bottle will now give you a slightly different noise do you notice that there’s like an additional effect these aren’t really necessary sound design changes but they’re ones that if you’re playing from java you might appreciate also straight

Cats now make a sound when tempted with food a bit like ipx toy cat as Harrison so lovely put it so I’m going to spawn down a cat right here and then try to summon him with food and he’ll make some noises for me okay that’s a weird noise first of

All but this is the one I mean do you hear that okay one more time do you hear those those cute little cat noises as they hear about my salmon I love it you know what else I love having all of these cats okay I don’t have them anymore speaking of things I

Don’t have anymore upon creation iron and Snow Golems will have a crumbling effect this is a bit of a weird one if you ask me but just to show you what this looks like this do you see that kind of crumble of all of the blocks it

Made and this oh we barely saw it also Snow colum dies because of Mesa biome but you get the idea very very fun also um here is another fun one this is one of those changes I genuinely didn’t see coming there is now a difference between

The Wither boss health bar and the Ender Dragon health bar to show you what I mean here we’ve got ourselves a Wither spawn egg which is a creative only item by the way I I guess not even creative come on only item and I’m going to spawn

In a Ender Dragon oh is that a good idea actually I’m going to turn off mob grouping first you know just just to be sure here I’m going to turn off the mob grief thing and then I’m going to summon in um I’m going to make sure that I

Summon in a uh an ender dragon and as you can see oh God the dragon does not like me very much but that’s the Ender Dragon health bar it’s kind of purple this is the withers’s health bar a much deeper purple and uh yeah I need to get

Away from him very quickly cuz he’s he’s going to he’s going to mess some stuff up uh that is a fun reminder I’m I’m glad that’s a fun reminder uh that we can very easily uh set this stuff up also now we’re going to oh gosh uh we’re

Going to kill this wer because he’s very very bad if you ever do want to kill the wer by the way and you don’t uh know what to do about it pro tip you can always just go into your settings you can set the game mode to peaceful and

There are no Withers on peaceful and so there’s no harm done speaking of no harm done curing a zombie villager takes a random amount of time between 3 to 5 minutes instead of always taking 1 minute 40 so when you cure a zombie villager it used to be a fixed load time

Now it takes more than twice as long on average and so that is a big change also Iron Golems no longer spawn naturally that is in two block High spaces where they would immediately suffocate you can still play IR Golems wherever you want to tipped arrows will no longer apply

They’re effective players who block the Arrows with a shield we obviously can’t shut that one off right now except wait a minute I think you know Harrison you’re you’re in the world you know I I I I’ve broken my rule of playing mostly solo Minecraft cuz I’ve got Harrison

Here today and I think what we’re going to do is we’re going to show off this one uh in a live situation so he’s going to shoot me with some tipped arrow and I’m going to defend using my shield I um I feel as though uh this should work

Easily enough if the sh if the tipped Arrow uh bounces off then and I don’t take the fo that oh wait even funnier I think do you see that I think it hit him yeah he’s he’s now got the poison effect and I don’t whereas if I am not crouched

You’re going to see this is the poison I would be getting oh oh we’re on Peaceful so uh maybe you can’t get poisoned on Peaceful okay let’s try that again one more time uh let’s let’s see get a little bit of a hit going on here and uh

Wow getting poisoned real real bad right there but then we’re going to crouch and give it right back to Harrison because when a shield blocks the tipped Arrow it goes back to the other player a big change to PVP it does have to be said also the sneak block no longer blocks

The d-pad up button on the touch screen uh this is something Harrison seems to be very happy about they have now fixed the status effect icons overlapping the jump button also goat horns can be heard from up to 256 blocks away by the way this is is an

Insane fact um so goat horns have kind of sucked on Bedrock until now but to show you how far away this works from here is Harrison on top of that big 1240 sign and he’s going to play a goat horn for us and you might think how quietly

Will we hear it no it’s basically the same noise as if he is right next to us which is insane just to prove that to you here’s me playing the same noise back to him it is I if you can spot the difference in volume level there I would

Be quite impressed but to go even crazier let’s move Harrison even further away like maybe if he flies onto that mountain over here right um this is a very far distance away he’s so far away that he’s dender because you can only hear stuff from uh like you can only see

People when they’re about eight chunks away or so meaning that when he plays his mob horn he whoa and it’s still it’s slightly quieter from out there but I can I can hear him in from a distance where I can’t see him I would have no

Idea he was all the way up that mountain which by the way he definitely is um but uh you know like it’s it’s so crazy that that happens uh and then I communicate back to him using goat horns what a weird buff it is crazy to me the goat

Horn has been in Minecraft since 1.17 but it just hasn’t worked on Bedrock correctly that is an insanely powerful item for multiplayer but again we don’t play too much multiplayer so not a big deal but mobs no longer taking damage when falling into a one block deep water

That’s kind of nice sheep which have been sheared but have since regrown their wool will now drop the wool upon death also the lowest form of flowing lava now correctly turns to Stone which means if you try to make one of these weird cast builds which let’s be honest

We’ve all wanted to do before this one was made in 1 12030 however now we load it up in 12040 and if we do any change to this indeed if we were to replace the water or if we place any block down for example so here’s a neite block if we

Place this right there you’ll notice how it now immediately changes the blocks around it into Cobblestone because any block updates between water and the lowest form of flowing lava will now result in Cobblestone uh if you replace the blocks to prove that to you okay well there there you go right to prove

That to you here is it all not working and here is a version of it being placed from scratch right now uh it’s kind of it’s a disappointment to see it gone but it now means that if you have any of these in your world from before 1. 12040

Don’t touch them because they’ll last like that forever which I think is beautiful speaking of things I think are beautiful let’s climb up the ladder one more time this water was really not a good good idea her to mention that this update does also have some experimental

Changes um so these aren’t uh ones that are going to affect every player all of the time but uh if you do choose to turn on villager trading you can do all of these new trades which are controversial people would rather reroll a villager

500 times than go to a swamp and I I honestly do think both systems kind of suck they they’re working on it but right now you can experiment with it so it’s technically in there nothing too much has really changed since last time but what has changed that’s quite

Significant is if you do turn on the experimental villager trading toggle you are more likely to find mending in an ancient city efficiency in a m shaft and quick charge in a Pillager Outpost also Unbreaking in desert temples and jungle temples I love the value they’re trying

To add back to exploration but again right now it’s behind experimental and so is it too big of a deal it’s something you kind of yet to decide speaking of things you get to decide I think Harrison’s going for a bath right now um speaking of things you get to
