So, about a month ago, I made a video about the six rarest mobs in all of Minecraft. Among some of the names on that list are… well, I’m gonna go make you watch the video… But, one of them was the pink sheep. On a normal Minecraft seed, pink sheep have a 0.164 percent chance of spawning naturally. Making them one of the rarest mobs to encounter in the wild. However, it seems like people just love breaking Minecraft seeds as much as I do. And that’s what I’m here to talk about: another potentially broken Minecraft seed. But this time with a guaranteed chance of having not just ONE pink sheep spawn, but…dozens? *confused voice* wait… what? Let’s check this out. *Cue the intro music* Alright, so let’s just launch into this. The Minecraft seed that is listed on screen and in the description below will spawn TONS of pink sheep within the spawn area. And for a couple hundred blocks in (most) directions. But is this seed… broken? Like, broken in the same way that this one was in one of my most recent videos? Honestly, I don’t think so. After doing as much research as I have the knowledge to do, I think that sheep spawning in GENERAL in Minecraft is kind of broken. Or at the very least, just NOT random. This whole phenomenon was originally posted by ThePunSlinger64 on Reddit. And for a good chunk of the day after it was posted, I tried to figure out a way to explain what’s going on here. I looked around for ways to generate random numbers online using the same method that Minecraft uses To see if it would reveal some patterns, and I couldn’t figure that out. So instead I decided to take my research to Minecraft ITSELF. The idea was I would fly around the world and periodically teleport every single sheep to me to see if patterns would emerge. And I tested this on a few Minecraft seeds just to rule out this one being… broken or something. If the rules of sheep spawning hold true, about 81 percent of sheep would be white, 5 percent should be gray or black, 3 percent should be brown and pink should be 0.164 percent. And as you can see here, that’s just not the case. Or… is it? Why are there patterns of so many of the same group of sheep? Well, here is what I feel is going on here. Rather than every individual sheep in every herd having a uniquely based color on the odds I mentioned, I think that these odds are dictated by the biome itself, in advance, And nearly every sheep herd spawns according to the biome for what that seed says. So in the case for this Minecraft seed, The biome dictates that nearly every sheep herd Has 2 white sheep, a dark gray sheep and a pink sheep. And because the plains biome at the spawn of this seed is absolutely ENORMOUS, We get SO many pink sheep. And that’s all about I got. Sheep spawning isn’t fundamentally broken or anything, But it works in a much different manner than maybe we would expect, which is why if you found one pink sheep within a given Minecraft world, You’ve probably found a bunch more within the same biome. So, yeah. But anyways guys, if you enjoyed this video, please leave a like on it. It really does help out myself, the channel, and the video quite a lot. So I hope you all enjoyed this video My name is AntVenom, and I bid you all farewell. Thanks so much for watching. Video Information
