There’s no doubting that Minecraft Java Edition has had its fair share of ups and downs over the years just about everyone who’s ever played the game for an extended period of time will have some idea as to what their most and least favorite updates have been and While lots of updates can be argued to me among the best or most favorite updates there’s one update in particular that stands Out Among the rest as a good candidate for the worst or least favorite update among the community and that’s Minecraft release 1.9 for its altered combat mechanics in today’s Video I want to change up the conversation a bit however today I want to show you a small mod that I had made that lots of people have requested Mojang Implement into Minecraft ever since 1.9’s release which adds a game role for the controversial attack cooldown Mojang this decision of yours To keep altered combat in only the Minecraft Java Edition has been one of the most contested choices you’ve made for over two years now why haven’t you done anything about this so let’s go ahead and let’s talk about it alright so ever since Minecraft released 1.9 came out for Java Edition on February 29 2016 one single feature of that update has not only been highly contested ever since its release but has also caused players to quit the game outright which is the mechanic that causes a swung weapon to go on cooldown for a short period of time now I can’t Speak for everybody but personally speaking my biggest gripe about this feature is how unintuitive it is in versions prior to 1.9 you’d swing your weapon and you’d hit a mob you could swing your weapon as fast as you wanted and every half second or so you would actually strike the mod that was Intuitive what we have now is not now you swing your weapon and you have to manually wait through a cooldown before swinging your weapon again if however you swing your weapon before the cooldown is up you deal astronomically less damage than when the cooldown is up And this is where I feel the problem lies not so much with the fact that a cooldown exists by itself let’s take a look at another game that handles cooldowns and a game that I play fairly often World of Warcraft without getting into how this game works in detail there Are spells that I can cast and they have a set cooldown after I cast them if the spell has a cool down I have to wait the allotted time before I can even cast it again I can hit the button assigned to it all day long if I want to but it Won’t cast until the time is up in my personal opinion if the combat cooldown has to exist in Minecraft this is how it should work what we have now is not intuitive but if we could spam click as much as we wanted like the old days but Just not have our weapons swing until they’re ready that would be far better in my opinion I don’t mean to sound so brutal here but Mojang I feel there’s a reason you’ve implemented just about every Minecraft Java Edition feature into the Bedrock Edition except for the 1.9 combat mechanics to me it seems like there’s some sense of regret there if what I mentioned before actually is not a good idea well why not take the general communities idea and Implement a game rule for the weapon cooldown that way servers could just disable it at Will and allow players to play the way they’d like just to prove my point I asked a friend of the channel lucavon to code this exact game role for me when no attack cooldown is set to false things work as they do now but when it’s set to True things work how they used to prior to Minecraft 1.9 do you want to know the most shocking thing about this mod lucavon with no prior game role modification experience took under an hour with less than 20 lines of code to make this mod happen so that shows that This idea isn’t Complicated by any means mojing just isn’t acting on it why I don’t know but what I do know is that what we have now is not intuitive at all some would argue that what we have is actually better but to me at least it certainly doesn’t feel natural for new Players to pick up on and usually winds up feeling more annoying than anything else but I don’t know let me know what you guys think in the comments section down below because I’m pretty much done here for now if you guys enjoyed this video please consider leaving a like on It because it would really help out myself the channel and the video quite a lot so I hope you all enjoyed my name is ant venom and at bid you all farewell thanks so much for watching Video Information
