Appleguy – Slowness and Blindness Simulator | Minecraft Horror Map: Old Hope

Hello everyone my name is appleguy and welcome back to another minecraft horror map this is a map called old hope it is a map where you take on the role of a police investigator that is what it says and that is what we will do and uh it says it’s going to take

Between 60 minutes and 90 minutes so hopefully uh it’s an enjoyable map in that short time actually it’s a rather long time for a minecraft app that’s probably one of the longest maps i’ve ever played i plan to keep it all in one video so

I hope you enjoy the long one get some popcorn get a snack uh the concept is i guess not really explained but there’s like a town that’s like cursed there’s like a little ghost girl that’s like attacking the people who go into the town and we are a police officer named

Browner and we’re gonna go fix it journal entry one it’s currently 8 31 pm on 18 3 2022 which i assume is march 18th 2022 and i’ve just arrived outside the gates of the long-amanda town of old hope after a long car ride through open fields and engulfing forests

Nature has reclaimed this town as its own trees and bushes cloud the streets and buildings this town is definitely emitting bad energy the eerie silence coupled with the fact that light is coming from the abandoned town tell me that something strange is going on here strange things

While traveling here i came across a group of campers who i got the chance to talk to they told me some interesting tales of the town an old wives tale goes that a young girl haunts the town and kills anyone who dares step foot inside hopefully i can find something worth

Writing about within these towns walls so this town’s walls is what it said okay oh what the heck was that this place this place is freaking me the heck out but i need to stay and find out what happened to that journalist john browner oh oh okay and we’re perpetually blind i guess

We’re not browner i guess browner is the the journalist we’re looking after we’re the police investigator okay locate a key for the iron gate all right i will uh do i need to loot this is a looting kind of map or is this a not really necessary to loot i’ll tell you what

First impressions slightly askew because i don’t like this the slowness uh i don’t like slowness maps i like being slow and blind okay we have a sword so that means there’s going to be combat oh it can break cobwebs it says okay maybe that’s less about combat and more about breaking things roadblocks

Okay let’s take a peek around there’s a guy up there that’s supposed to be a uh it’s not supposed to be uh how would i go about saying that is that a whatever edna has been acting strange lately she’s always been a peculiar child but after a weekly appointment

With the apothecarist years ago she started acting normally i’m afraid the voices she hears are coming back again she’s been a lot quieter and it seems as if she’s hiding something from me as if i’m not busy enough in the mines now i’ve got to deal with edna acting up

Again i’ll have to take her to the apothecarists soon all right gotta worry about the apothecarists there we go uh we’re looking okay well we can go up these it looks like as our door there is okay so we can break cobwebs but do we want

To break cobwebs i don’t think oh okay here we go it says she’s coming okay and go down all right lovely yeah we can go down but i can’t see a gosh darn thing what is the point of this oh there’s more we can go down

Like there’s no way i break this there’s nothing to do right i’m actually getting like a small headache from not being able to see anything like straining my eyes that sucks i’m like five minutes into this this hour-long minecraft map so we have a long way to go

Like i said i plan to do it in one long video so get some popcorn leave a like on the video etc i’d appreciate a like very much hope cannot save you that’s what that said okay thick potion and browner entry number two i can’t tell if i’m going insane or not

I keep seeing the ghostly figure of a young girl out of the corner of my eye eerie sounds and voices keep ringing through my ears corpses skulls and blood stains line the streets and houses here so far i have found a few things worth noting about i found a few old tattered

Journals in some of the houses giving me an insight into the lives of the residents here from what i found the supposed young girl was called edna and she was the daughter of a minor in town i’ll keep a lookout for more journal entries around the area now just need to

Find a way further into the town yes good idea all right i’m not going to take these potions uh i don’t think i need to take any of these i should probably just stop picking up things in general but i don’t know maybe i’ll need to

Maybe they’ll help me in an endgame boss fight okay we go this way i guess it’s very hard i have to like hug a wall when i have blindness like this because if i don’t then townskeeper will i guess we’ll go in here if i don’t hug a wall i will get

Actually lost okay hey an iron gate perfect can we place on a drip stone block we will find the drip stone block and place that in uh 7 9 1946 i’ve noticed one of the town’s girls wandering around my backyard at first i was suspected at first i suspected she was stealing my

Berries but the bushes seemed fine and unpicked i have to keep an eye out for who the culprit is oh god poppy she’s dead her cold dead corpse in my yard i managed to call for help before i started panicking poppy wasn’t the one sneaking around my yard though so i

Wonder who could oh no i thought poppy was a dog that’s not what that says maybe it was another one of the town’s children i have to tell the mayor about what i saw hopefully he can find the murderer okay away i go now uh is this

Not the way to go okay wait so we can go through there let me check around here first though is there a secret no okay salonist three oh i don’t mean to press escape and press e slowness three by the way guys that’s slow okay um what’s now what now

This is the way i came in that’s the way i came in okay so i guess we hug this side oh did i not go into this building there’s like a bunch of beds okay a bunch of beds here we go this is where we need the gate door for oh hello

You’re already too late uh you are a fool like the rest of them latest updates explore the farmlands okay let’s explore the farmlands uh update find the farmhouse key it’s gonna be something to go on mud count notice close until further notice okay uh blindness the video

Game we need to find the west side key and that’s not a key i guess we need to find road blocked okay locate the seller key in the farmhouse all right i’m getting a thousand quest updates but i couldn’t tell you where i would begin

Finding that okay this is the way i came in all right and we can’t go over here to the right because it’s blocked off correct correct guys i wonder if this map has an estimated time of an hour to an hour and a half uh because you’re so darn slow you know

Like straight up not being able to walk fast anywhere would add a substantial amount of time to your game i also can’t see anything which is an issue as well oh a little ghosty thing was here does that mean this is progress i appreciate you not exploding my headphones

Every time the little ghost pops up there it is farmhouse key nice i knew it would be in uh in one of those so it’s just diagonal out of the townhouse center on the far right side when you first walk in if anyone’s using this uh video

As a like a like a walk through all right and it goes here nice and some berries and loot and the seller key and the browner entry three let’s go ahead and read this first though while i was tending to the crops earlier today i stumbled across a

Strange tool that almost seemed to glow with power it seems like someone tried to hide it here i should probably take this to the apothecarists it’s just called the apothecary i’m almost certain so i’m going to refer to it as the apothecary i should take this to the apothecary

She’ll know what to do with items of witchcraft my heart is shattered oh poppy is gone i don’t know how to cope now that she’s gone who i just that’s not english words i just hope that whoever murdered my innocent girl gets locked up even better executed i need to look through poppy’s

Stuff see if i can find anything that might suggest who attacked her i’m sure father albert will be around soon to discuss the funeral arrangement oh letter this as well i think i’m being watched i can’t shake her face out of my mind the fog and darkness have consumed my being i made

It to the farmhouse but all that remains is the farmer’s journal and the bloody skull the girl the farmer was the father of the girl who was murdered i can’t imagine that what that must feel like hopefully i can find more information on what tragedy that occurred here further into the town okay

Let me out i literally walk way too slow i walk too slow to get into the in the speed of things we gotta go over here now and uh hopefully we’ll make some some progress uh doors here they are seller key in nice let’s gather all this loot

Just for the fun of it any chance i could get some lights uh i’m not gonna bother looting things anymore yeah i’m just gonna start ignoring barrels i don’t think they’re needed i say as okay they’re very clearly needed here because this room is just barrels

So something is hidden in one of these barrels right where is the thing hidden in the barrels oh wait there it is west side gate west side gate everybody now which way is a west i think this was west right that’s the road block do you think it’s actually west Like if i look on f3 is this west that’s north this is west west is this way oh maybe it’s actually west well it is actually west i know where it is now it’s to the left of the farmhouse get me out of the crops okay there’s the farmhouse keep going keep going

The west side this goes on packed mud we sighed that supposed to say west side or am i in the wrong place oh here it is oh it’s a wither rose your death is coming closer it says update find a tool in the apothecary to break the five dark altars

With with open parentheses skulk shriekers no close parentheses brown or four this town is getting more twisted the further travel into it strange altar-like structures appear around this part of town perhaps a little girl set them up to feed off of for her dark powers maybe i can learn

More about what happened here through the apothecarists however i have the feeling that the church might hold the truth of what happened here okay let’s actually make our browner entries go like this way in our inventory there we go now we can keep track of them all okay

Uh so find a tool to take out the skulk shriekers is the objective i’m going to hug the right side of this open area before i do anything okay there’s a little hole like a mines maybe uh nothing there’s some water a stack and a half of anvils some fernices okay

Oh this place looks huge place the five skull triggers in the hopper only place skull triggers in the hopper other items will break the lock you could have made a filter an item filter would have prevented that from happening okay so this is where we need to go when we

Get all the shriekers out i guess but for now we have to uh find the item and then break the skull creakers okay we’re in a graveyard now greg hefley says you will belong in this place soon greg heffley is the guy from the diary of the wimpy kid

Richard steele that’s something as well i think i think that’s a reference to something poppy white okay clarence ivy i don’t recognize that one okay wait so here’s the skull shri here’s one skull shrieker but i don’t have the tool yet oh that’s a wither rose i guess we’re

Immune to weather roses though lily snow bart ripley and lavender snow oh there’s another uh hanging chat if you will daniel white is that daniel with the white vans is that a joke about daniel with the white vans from vine callum woods i don’t know evan stevens that’s even stevens oh my gosh

Oh lord i don’t know bart ripley it’s like some of these are references and some of these aren’t it’s like that’s what i’m picking up on holy buckets i wish i could see i mean look if you don’t hug the side of the wall you will never ever find what you’re looking for

What is this i don’t know but i’m in it is this the apothecary there’s like a thousand keys i think these are jokes though because we’re in adventure mode and they can’t be placed on anything but i’ll pick it up anyway okay there’s just a billion of them

So we don’t need them all i will just make sure they’re all identical yeah because if i double click and one of them doesn’t get stacked that oh see this one was different okay so we have a key for for drip stone block right yes a key for drip stone block right there

Uh okay yeah there’s a i need to go through here sir uh she is evil she will kill me and her okay so there’s another skulk shrieker i need the tool though i need i don’t i don’t have my tool i can’t break the skull triggers i know where two of them

Are two of five one is in the graveyard one is in whatever that building is i don’t know because i can’t see it uh okay oh are we walking into the woods now okay here’s another one i don’t know how to describe where i am but like

To the left of the other one that we found here’s a house i get a the oh oh hold on this is the the church the farmer came to me today to give me an interesting tool he stumbled upon his fields he thinks some might have hidden it on the field it

Seems to be some sort of tool used in witchcraft i’ll have to hide it around here somewhere perhaps the water bottles could provide a good hiding place poppy is dead my heart aches for the poor farmer he must be in agony right now perhaps that witchcraft tool could

Be evidence of who murdered her maybe she did it to herself on accident maybe someone is framing her for her own death i’ll have to inform the mayor about this as soon as possible okay so he took the water bottles oh wait can’t you uh oh

Oh no you can’t i was gonna say can’t you put some water back into an anvil but these are thick potions maybe i’ll just loot all the let me go i just have to loot all the potions i feel like it’s in here somewhere okay holy lord hold on i have an idea

What if you have to drink all the water in here i drank all the water no nothing okay oh no oh wait that was a water bottle are any of these water bottles no they’re not okay i’m gonna toss all these into a corner then i do not really care about those but

This says it’s a water bottle uh okay and then this one right here again two and a water bottle uh well there’s a barrel there that would’ve been a good enough hiding spot right huh i don’t know put you in here i can also get water from outside

If i go over here right isn’t there oh it’s over here yeah i can get more water i have water where’s the door oh where’s the door oh no no no no is this the house no shoot where’s the door i lost the church wait

Is this it i found it again okay phew there we go i had to fill it all the way up so it’s a good thing there’s water outside altar breaker nice okay so let’s let’s go back to the ones we know and collect them because yeah we want to there’s five of them

It’d be best if we collected them where we know they are instead of having to take another lap all the way around well we’ll get the one in the uh the graveyard last because that one’s kind of close to where we need to put them so that one won’t be hard to remember

But hopefully we don’t have to come back out to this area so let’s grab these two right now and then we’ll continue working our way around we still have the very terrifying trek to go into the middle of the map which is going to be sketchy

Because we’re going to lose all sense of direction the second we stop hugging a wall i mean you saw me almost lose the direction of the church because i could not keep it straight in my head okay but here we are again i think oh no oh okay wait that’s

Did we loop back to the the starts yes because this is the church right nice okay all right we’re walking into the dead center then there has to be stuff somewhere in the dead center nice the one saving grace we have is that the the little uh altar things the soul

Skull shriekers skull shriekers skulk streakers they do appear to be surrounded by um the red the red candles so essentially if we see a red candle we’re probably approaching oh i’ve been to this house ready if we see red candles we’re probably approaching a shrieker pretty much guaranteed

That’s good okay is this the graveyard again yeah lily snow so right over here then should be the next one evan stevens that’s been the best part of the map so far is reading the uh the funny graveyard inscriptions here we go and i was hovering so that took a little

Longer to break nice we have all but one we need one more and it is probably on either this side of town or in the middle we will have to figure that out it’ll be around some oh perfect it’s right here well i was lucky nice okay we have them all now

And then i think if we just go along this way it should take us right in yep here it is there’s all five nice nice nice nice update get to the church okay i don’t know what the church looks like and i can’t see more than two feet in front of my face

So i will be is this the church this might be it uh the farmer’s girl poppy is dead and i need to figure out who killed her for the safety of my own people the only evidence i have so far is the strange tool the apothecary told me about perhaps someone among us

Whoa huh doo doo doo doo what among us someone among us was practicing witchcraft and killed poppy in the process i’ll have to order a house check to search through everyone’s belongings to perhaps find more evidence of witchcraft will did also mention that he saw one of

The town’s children and his yard mere hours before poppy was murdered could it space space really be another child who murdered poppy church key two uh oh i never saw church key one i never i got the sequel before i got the the original that’s no good

Okay um here’s what we’re gonna do we’re gonna find the pathway again i think it’s right here we’re gonna press on uh okay there’s like a well here we’re gonna go left from the well church finally use the three church key doors okay yikes there’s three of them there’s a trilogy

And my first church key was church key two that’s not going to be very helpful for me i need to i need to see the original church key before church key 2. here’s the thing you guys ever noticed this actually well i was gonna say with uh with like movie trilogies

Or like one movie two movie three movies like the second movie is always like the low points right like shrek shrek 2 shrek 3. shrek iii is is actually shrek iii might be the worst shrek film of those set so maybe my point is regardless i also thought about star wars uh four

Five and six and star wars episode five is like the highest rated one in the whole franchise so perhaps my point is a little uh a little moot perhaps we should ignore the whatever i just said can a guy get a key every once in a while

All these random houses no one keeps a key on them i mean what do you guys think this is the guy’s got to get the keys to get into the church which i think is right here deadly background to the church yeah i love how it’s labeled this is church

It’s not called like minecraft’s first church or like steve alex pigman church it’s just called church okay church key three nice any chance you could have had both no let’s arrange them in chronological order there we go all right we need church key one

Oh oh oh oh the way this is new this is new hold on okay so this is uh right after this building with the stone furnace in it if you walk behind it there’s another door i haven’t been into and church q1 okay phew we found it

Man i will say there’s a great joy to being one of the first people to play a map mostly the joy of posting it to youtube before anyone else but not being able to look up someone else’s walkthrough to make your own walkthrough is one of the greatest challenges of our generation truthfully

Truthfully okay this is the this is the church i think right and one two three bing bing bing we’re in hello you will die in this town is what it says good to know this poor girl i hope she finds peace in the afterlife i’ll have to visit the

Farmer soon to make funeral arrangements ramirez ordered every house be searched for items of witchcraft can that be really what happened to polly whoever did this must surely be punished the search is over now and dark books evil drawings and odd tools were recovered from the house of the minor

But surely he couldn’t have killed poppy perhaps it was his daughter edna after all will did say he saw another child lurking around where poppy was killed it must be her but how could a child attack someone she must be gotten rid of she must go down the well uh okay

That’s a balcony there is a well in the center of town oh lord that one got me uh you’ve been searching for a man who is already dead his blood will stain the walls of this place forever there is no more hope you will not leave this place alive don’t bother

Try and find me you will fail search for edna’s hideout this is the end for me she snapped my leg and arm and has left me atop the church roof i managed to see where she went before she left me she went down the well i can

Only assume that’s where her dark powers fester whoever reads this go down the well and destroy her powers once and for all do what i couldn’t do and tell the world what happened here in old hope alright see that was actually a good uh that was a pretty good jump scare

I like it because they earned that noise they earned that that little screechy scream a lot of uh here we go before i go down the well a lot of maps will just continuously scream in your ears over and over and after like the first attempt right you just mute it

You just turn your audio down but in this case they didn’t do that a lot and so they uh they got it they got it right i think but now they got it wrong because they’re making me do a maze i hate mazes in horror maps

For those of you guys who are new to the series hold on there’s a book to read death comes to us all and her those you guys who are new to my like minecraft horror maps adventures uh we see a lot of mazes we don’t like mazes because mazes

Are essentially the map creator just like saying hey i don’t have any more content walk in a circle for a little bit it’s so dark down here and i can’t see a dang thing this place is amazing she’s hunting me down whoever finds this you need to put an end to her

That is the plan hopefully assuming i ever decide to go more than a granny walk of speed kind of slow kind of very slow still very slow still slowness three okay i will say though i haven’t hit a dead end in a little while but i also don’t know if i’m just going

In a gigantic circle hello turn back now and maybe i shall spare you either when i walk backwards when i press s it’s i’m not like recoiling i’m i’m pretty much just trying to get the whole character model in view uh so i can use it for a thumbnail

So i can put it in the thumbnail if i don’t have it of the full body then i have to try and find the map asset for it like uh like if it’s a block i have to figure out what block it is so i can take a screenshot of it

So it’s very much so just helpful if i get it uh in gameplay footage but if not i mean it’s not a big deal if i was playing like not minecraft then i would i would have to like try and find the model or just get a screenshot of it

That’s behind the scenes stuff though just want to explain why i don’t want to put on like the i’m not scared act and then uh you know you see me like flicking my mouse around a whole ton uh okay we’re in like a like a catacombs it looks like

Lots of skeletons in the walls update destroy the last dark altar to end edna boom i did it what have you done what have you done you destroyed my dark powers this is the end but as i told you you will not be leaving here alive you are coming with me

Into the darkness look at her she’s all the way over here edna old hope thank you for playing you’re welcome is that the end of the map see she is a block she’s got faces on all sides all right are we done here i think so i’m gonna go into creative mode then

Uh are we done what are you edna you’re a warped nylium and a netherrack okay uh can i get clear uh oh good my effects are already cleared holy buckets okay wonderful wonderful wonderful we beat the map and now there’s like a perpetual noise lovely uh is this the perpetual noise right here

There we go let’s shut that off uh where is the perpetual noise is that not it i’m trying to do like uh oh there we go excellent all right so uh let’s talk about the map i think this map was okay i think that the map is okay

Um it was weird okay so first off they said it takes 60 minutes and only took 42 which i’m actually happy about i’m really happy about that because i could not stand to do the blindness slow walking for much longer than i did it um i think that’s

The blindness slow walking like let’s look alright this is part of the game right here if we were here okay if we were here and we had to like do the exploration and stuff and you know wander around i think we would get a lot more atmosphere in seeing

What we see right now than than if we were blind i think oh wait a mission reports what is this oh shoot wait is this the first thing we were supposed to find i didn’t even see this uh john browner last known old uh he was an old hope

He’s a journalist who’s the process of writing an article about old hope he went to find information nobody come into contact with him since we have to find him i didn’t even see that anyway i think if we were given the ability to see it would not have detracted from the map

At all i think this map didn’t get a lot of spooks or scares from the blindness effect and all it did was make the map harder unnecessarily harder i would if you want to keep the slowness keep the slowness but 100 get rid of the blindness maybe if you’re in like the the

Catacombs at the end give the blindness effect but i would take the blindness away for the most part of the map it’s it’s not necessary and it just it just makes the map a little more annoying having to like wander around the the graveyard like this where i’m like hugging a wall

So that i don’t lose anything uh not necessary the map has enough atmosphere as is uh as far as the story goes i mean it wasn’t like the i don’t think this was the strongest minecraft horror map ever that we played uh but it was an interesting enough story you know

It was fine i had a good time with it i think that it had a good length and uh yeah the only the only major complaint i have is the blindness thing it’s just just don’t do it next time that that goes to all map creators if

Your map has blindness in it consider why it has blindness in it if it’s for any reason other than you’re supposed to be in a dark area uh just cut it you know if you’re in a town like this where the moon’s out and there’s like lanterns it’ll be bright
