Hello cup coders and welcome to another episode of ARS Magica tutorials now in this step side we’re gonna get it a little bit more into detail into spell crafting as you see as usual I’ve done a lot of pre prep work in here you’ll notice at this time there aren’t any Chests other than that one there which we probably won’t even touch that’s because more really in this episode I want to focus on giving you more information about spell crafting in general alright first thing I want to go ahead and let you know is that I did Make kind of a faux pas last time I told you that the diminished would would set its effects well I was kind of wrong on that casting a diminish spell during spell crafting does not set its effects it sets the type of spell that you’re casting for instance if your cat if you Cast a diminished beam spell it’ll set the spent the outfit spell to a beam spell if you cast a diminish projectile spell it’ll make it into a projectile spell and so on and so forth you know touched on the whole nine line and they’re like so let’s go ahead and get Into this we’re pretty much like I said I’ve set up all the signs so I can just go through and read signs it’s more as a reminder to me it’s tough to touch on but we’re gonna go side by side anyways when you fart when you start spell cat Crafting the first thing that you’re gonna do is you throw in that that piece of parchment in there and then it starts to vortex the instability of the vortex does not start until you cast your first spell it doesn’t matter if that first spell is diminished augmented or normal The moment you start casting that first spell the instability of the vortex begins now every spell that you add will add a proc at about 25 points to its instability now unfortunately you cannot there’s no way of looking to see how many points of instability of vortex has Really is just a guesstimate game so that’s why in most of this I don’t even really talk about actual numbers and numerical values because you really can’t track it it’s not exactly something that you can easily track and manipulate so moving on every spell that you add will add Approximate 25 points and the reason I’m specifying 25 points here is because a vortex maxes out at 100 points once it gets to 100 points you have a guaranteed instability effect and we’ll get to those effects here in a little bit all right so that means that for spells Without any other influences will max out the vortex and cause it to do something but you can actually get a vortex stabilized enough so that you can put up to 5 spells into this thing now you’re not gonna be able to do it by yourself and we’ll explain why over time As you see in this next time here vortex instability increases slowly over time now the rate that it increases is based on the number of spells that you’ve added so for instance if it increases let’s just throw it out there and say if if it increases one percent per second With one spell then with two spells it will increase two percent three spells it will increase three percent per second you see how that goes so the more spells you’ve added in the faster it becomes unstable all right now it checks for instability effects which we’ll talk about those here in a second Like I said it checks for instability it affects every one and a half seconds all right just just something to keep in mind you know it’s not sometimes you can really count on you don’t it doesn’t tell you when it’s checking for the instability but according to the Programming that’s when it checks is every one and a half seconds the severity of the instability effect is determined by the severity of the instability the more unstable the vortex is the higher the effect you’ll get and we’ve already covered that one let’s see a stabilized vortex bail yes you can use A stabilized for tex belch lower the vortexes instability now it’s generally suggested when you’re coming when you crafting spells if you’re going to have if you’re gonna use to stabilize vortex belt I would suggest having a few friends come in and help you they can they can Stand outside the vortex and they can cast the stabilized for tech spell on the vortex and that’ll help you now mind you they have to be within a certain range I don’t know exactly what their ranges I do think the range is somewhere within 10 blocks probably I’m pretty Sure it’s less I don’t I don’t remember I don’t know but every stabilized vortex spell can reduce the instability by two spells now remember I said every spell you throw in will use up one fourth of the total max it doesn’t matter how many spells are in there every spell you Throw in will use up a quarter of the max instability so every aughh every stabilized vortex belt can reduce it by two spells so it’ll essentially reduce it by 50% of its max which was 100 so 50 points it can be stacked that’s why I say definitely get others to help you by Casting stabilize for tech spell for you with you while you’re you know crafting your spell because I mean let’s get real let’s get honest here you know this the vortexes becomes more unstable every sight every second that you that you’re working with it so as you’re crafting your spell You really shouldn’t take the time the cast stabilized for text spell and in fact stabilized vortex file is one that you have to constantly cast it’s not one oh you cast on once and you’re done no it’s you start casting it and you keep casting it to keep the vortex table so You can’t craft your own spell and cast stabilized vortex you have to have someone else cast stabilized for text for you and you cannot use caster blocks unfortunately caster box cannot cast their buys for tech so something to keep in mind it’s it’s designed that way for To promote getting your friends to help you really if at any point during the crafting the spell crafting you want to cancel crafting you can do that just right click using a non spell or a spell parchment pretty much you know you can put a block in your hand and right click On the on the on the crystal and it’ll cancel it you will not get anything back like if you thrown Regents into it you will not get those back alright now we’re gonna go into vortex instability effects now as I said if you get you a hundred on the Stabilized on the vortex instability gets to 100 you’re guaranteed to have one of these happens just because you’re not at a hundred doesn’t mean ones can’t happen it checks every one-and-a-half seconds now the way it does this is it pulls a random number from one to three Hundred if this random number is under the current vortex instability a vortex instability effect occurs okay now remember vortex instability maxes out at 100 so it’s one-third chance essentially of it doing a maximum really of it of it occurring the less stable your vortex is The less chance you have of any of these occurring so we’re gonna go ahead and get into it the minor instability effects that can happen are full mana drain and toss now what that means is it’s not gonna do both it’s gonna pick one so it’ll either completely drain all Your mana or it’ll toss you literally across the room and that could it could injure you sure you want to be careful with that moderates instability effects is minus one magic level or you could lose a random spell now what I mean by raloo surrounding a spell is you know You really Scrolls and it memorizes spells and you can go to your your spell crafting minutes and make the spell parchment well this causes you to forget one of those spells so you won’t even be able to make this about parchment which means you’ll have to go back and find The scroll again to learn the spell again before you can make another scroll of it now this can be very negative if you don’t have that spell made if you’ve already got spell made didn’t great as long as you don’t lose that spell parchment you’ll be okay but either way It’s still a bad thing you don’t want to have it happen and obviously you’re not gonna want to lose a magic level major instability effects first off random teleport it’ll randomly pick a location in the world and teleport you to it I can’t stress how how bad that could be Especially if you’re using just plain ARS Magica and minecraft because it doesn’t give you waypoints it doesn’t give you a mini-map a random teleport could literally get you lost you might never find your way home for instance for instance this area right here where I’ve been building all this Stuff at this was my second location for for doing the tutorial my first location I randomly teleported away from and I’ve only found it once by accident by randomly teleporting back to it so I don’t even know where it is anymore I have no way of knowing how to get back To my first location so it’s out there somewhere I’m just not worrying about it so that’s what random talk we’re gonna do is it’ll cost toss you out somewhere and get you lost another effect it can have that am a major instability is it’ll drain all the essence from your nearby objects Like if you’ve got I don’t know if you’ve got any of the other ARS Magica constructs laying around like the Reconstructor or the magic fabricator any of those it’ll drain all the essence out of them they will be dead in the water you know they’ll have to you’ll Have to wait for them to completely recharge again before you can use them so it’s so-so and as far as these two goes I’m more afraid of the random teleport because there was a possibility of totally getting lost now there is a severe instability effect which as you Can see is an explosion boom careful now the only way to get this severe now those are the main effects the main four effects that you can have based completely on how unstable the vortex is now obviously if you are in the range of 90 points in your vortex instability and A instability effects happens you can almost guarantee it’s going to go boom okay now those are the main four there is a fifth instability effect it is fatal instability effect you can lose one to 25 magic spells on a fatal instability effect you could also lose Any further from 0 to 10 magic levels on a fatal instability effect just like to rest it’ll choose one or the other third option on this one is another teleport it’ll randomly teleport you into the nether obviously this one is very very dangerous you can lose a Lot of your spell’s or you can lose a lot of your mana or you can find yourself lost in the nether and if you are not prepared for this this could be detrimental because you could end up getting stuck in the nether with no way To no way back come on guys yes there is lava in the nether but there is no water in the nether you cannot craft obsidian in the nether so unless you have obsidian with you and flint and steel you’re not coming back that’s just it Now there is an option I will I want to go ahead and clarify this real quick now based on core minecraft rules and stuff if you find yourself teleported to the nether you have no way back unless you are carrying everything you need to come come back or unless you already have Another teleportal portal somewhere if you don’t have another portal and you’re not carrying the obsidian and the iron and the flint or the flint and steel you’re not coming back now ARS Magica does provide a means for you to come back so I want to clarify that but once Again you have to have some of the equipment in order to come back when you go to the nether in ARS Magica you will find ARS Magica towers in the nether now I know in in my first episode I’ve talked about all the different towers and stuff and I do believe that’s one Thing I did not go over all the above-ground towers that you can find in the overworld you can also find them or their nether counterparts in the nether that means that you will still be able to find scroll spells you will still you may still be able to find wood in those Towers that you can use and other stuff that you can craft the spell crafting bench out of to make a spell to come back there is a spell that’ll help you come back I believe it is divine influence or something like that so just keep that in mind there are means of Coming back if you’re not if you’re ill-prepared but you don’t want to count on them they’re not guaranteed so now as far as the fatal instability effect this does not occur normally as in just casting create a crafting a spell you this will never happen there’s one chance one case where this will Happen if you are opposing combining opposing affinities try folks if you try to combine I think it’s fire and water those would be opposing affinities I think but if you try to combine two opposing affinities in spell crafting the fatal effect can occur you have a but all effects even though they’re Triggered like saying you know even at a hundred percent you still have a ten percent chance of the effect fizzling as in it having doing absolutely nothing whatsoever so it’s not guaranteed but 10 percent chance yeah I’m not I’m not a betting man but If I was a gambling man I would not bet on those odds that’s kind of riding against you there all right moving on now I told you that diminish spells set dispel types and that’s exactly what it does so here’s the spell types that it can set there is ranged offense ranged Buff self buff block target rune binding summon offense beam defense beam and channeled those are all the spell types that you can that you can set you can only set one there is no sense in casting more than one diminished spell while spell crafting because once you Said it that’s all you need you cannot combine the the spell types unfortunately it does not work that way but this gives you a lot whole lot of options as far as what you can do and I see you there’s a room there oh man guys do you even imagine what I’m talking About here create craft a room with healing properties for instance place a rune down in your house with healing properties and and and give it an Augmented effect and then whenever you are majorly damaged walk over the room and it’ll heal you now of course that’ll destroy the room but hey still All right now I want to go ahead and point out that you cannot merge summon spells which means you cannot take two different summon spells and throw them into the same into the same spell it doesn’t work it’s not gonna it’s not gonna work or you can only summon one Thing at a time okay so keep that in mind block target means that anything that targets a single block like for instance the dig spell you can also use creative ranged dig spell so that you can cast a projectile and when the projectile lands somewhere it’ll dig up A block so there’s a lot of options of what you can do next is augmented now remember augment normal casting is adding the spell to the to the output spell diminished sets the spell type augment it adds the effects now here this shows you the types of effects that You can add now obviously when you cast an Augmented spell that would normally damage you know a damaging spell it increases the damage rating of the output spell if you cast a healing spell in augmented mode it’ll increase the healing rating of the output spell if You cast a beam spell it will increase the range of the beam for the output spell if you cast a projectile spell in augmented it’ll make the project the output projectile spell faster now of course these last two is based on you setting the spell correctly if you set it as a B As a beam spell and in diminished mode and then cast a beam spell in augmented mode you are increasing the beam range now if you are casting a projectile spell and then you cast a beaming spell in augmented mode it’s pretty much gonna do nothing okay next Beamen bind will force the spell type to beam and bind which means if you put if you cast being in a bind in diminished mode it forces it even if you’ve already cast a rune and then you cast bind it forces the spell type to bite instead of Room it overrides it so keep that in mind bound spell effects occur when the bound item is used right now what that means is if you create if you add bound spell effects to like you like a pickaxe put it that way if you create a bound spell effect for us Pickaxe then that pickaxe if you try to hit an enemy with that pickaxe it’s not gonna do anything the spells will not occur but if you dig something soon as that Brock block breaks the spell will occur because a pickaxe is meant to break things now if you put the bound Spell effects on a sword it the spell effect will occur when you hurt something with the sword okay and it is highly advised that you do not mix beam and bind I don’t know why because I haven’t tried it but the wiki says don’t Do it so don’t do it all right now in output spells cost mana cost is calculated from all the effects so the more spells you put into it the higher the mana cost is gonna be so keep that in mind when you’re casting also if you cast a spell into it that requires Regions and there are some spells that require regions then the custom spell that you create will require the same regions so keep that in mind it does not remove the region requirements there are a max as I said earlier you can max out with five spells and combine but you Will need help to get to those five spells because it only takes four to max out the vortexes instability effects all right guys well that is spell crafting 101 explained the more detailed information we’re gonna go ahead and go look and grab some more spells and I’ll Be right back after after a quick commercial break alright guys sorry about that I had to use the bathroom real quick like I said we aren’t gonna go ahead and grab few spells here and work through them before we do this I want to go ahead and let you guys know that you Know we do have a few more spells to go that obviously some of these spells is I’ve been going through it I haven’t been showing you but a lot of the spells if you cast him in augmented mode they do require Regents I’m actually planning on coming back through later on and Organizing it so I can show you which regions are required by which spells I’m not going to do that right now as we’re going through and showing and just showing new spells but I am gonna have a special episode at some point or a couple episodes at some Point where I’m going to show you what spells require what region’s winning augmented note to my knowledge none of the spells require any Regents win cast and diminished or normal to my knowledge no I may be wrong I’ll have to do some more research on it but that’s from what I’ve gathered so far alright so here we go we’re gonna go with the first spell the first spell obviously its Chain Lightning now what this does it’s really cool spell all those can we find some creatures around here no where’s the creatures features features features everywhere until I you need one all Right well it is the same thing as a lightning spell you know what grab to summon some creatures here we go let’s summon some sheep how about that something some sheep put this up here for now alright happy enough for now right so as you see when I hit that one It hits it strikes out to hit another see how it hit both of those haha so that’s exactly what Chain Lightning does it’ll hit it’ll hit the one that you’re targeting at and it’ll branch out to hit the next nearest one so you wanna that’s really cool spell especially when You got a bunch enemies coming at you this belt if you have a negative spell on you you can cast this and it’ll get rid of its charm let’s charm this bad boy all right so he is charmed let me dispel it nope all right so if you get cursed or somebody Else cast a spell on you this spell will help remove that spell for you obviously I don’t have any spells on me so I can’t show it but here we go charm as you just saw here let’s get some bad guys there we go I’ll bring his Ami out yeah let’s do it inside cuz the sun’s gonna like set him on fire weird okay that’s not not at all weird right all right here umm find a dark place you dark please yeah yeah that’ll work alright this is just weird guys this is Not I’m not supposed to happen I don’t know we’ll just all right forgo that let’s go on charm we’ll take a bed enemy or any creature and it essentially tamed him for a short duration to you which means they’ll follow you around and attack other enemies like if I was able To get that zombie up God knows why I can’t oh I know hold up I was doing some building the other night my dad there we go yeah we got it alright so there we got that guy we can charm him and boom he likes us Alright so if I do do this again boom really what are you just gonna walk away I mean there’s a guy over here I made this bad boy come get him come get him he’s right here fine oh it’s not working oh it’s not working that is not good all right weird All right so we’ll move on unfortunately charm was not working I do I think maybe we have to do it on friendly animals we’ll have to do some more research on that figure out what the heck’s going on there but that’s what charm is supposed to do it’s Supposed to make any creature friendly towards you for a short duration I know it’s also if you find a horse in the wild you’re supposed to be able to charm the horse and instantly tame them instead of having their goes through the hassle of jumping on the back and Hitting throw it off and unfortunately ARS Magica is worked for me in 1/5 – so there are no horses in the game but they if they were in the game that’s what it was supposed to do so is especially in the case of like mo creatures there’s a Lot of creatures and mo creatures that you can tame and again charm makes it instant alright so next one artic wind freeze freeze alright so as you see what it does any enemy that gets close to you gets injured by a blast of cold wind oh Alright so then moving on frost bold and boom it’s kind of like a beam spell but for ice and it’s really cool I like it looks pretty – look at all those stupid snowflakes yeah it’s nice okay moving on ice runed this one’s awesome throw the Room down and the enemy walks over it and they get frozen just simple as that and obviously I’m in creative so I’m not getting frozen but you get the general idea earth shift down can’t shift that down hold on let’s find some earth that I Could shift down I just saw some what we here doo doo doo doo doo doo not that right over here so here’s what it does literally see that dirt deer boom boom boom it shifts it down exactly what it does alright so definitely useful in landscaping for instance if you’re not Sure if dirt has anything under it there’s a hole under it think there’s a hole under you could shift the dirt down in fact I know where I can find someone holy round I think pretty sure over here maybe not okay alright well so that’s what Earth shift down does summon rift Now this is an awesome spell really it’s it’s like your home storage away from home literally so you cast it it’ll open up this little storage unit right here the larger you cast it the larger the storage unit will be as you see now you As you can also see you see that there are multiple wrists so here let’s throw this in there look an error it’s the same riff no matter how many times you open it up it is the same rift every single time now here’s what we’re gonna Do we’re gonna throw this down here and this right there okay so we see it all there you look in here you only see that one you look in here you can see those two so the more mana you throw throw into the rift the larger the rift is Going to be the more space you have for storage that’s literally all this spell is for is when you’re wandering out out in the world and hi guy so you’re wondering out in the world and you’re filling up your venturi you open a rift and throw some stuff in it and voila you Have free inventory space what are you doing over here uh-huh uh-huh nice nice and what are you reading there uh-huh okay all right well you gonna take out that where’d you go did you already take them kill them I’m not a creeper all right good to go good go all right Moving on our next spell levitation all right here and to make this easier oh there he is apparently I’m under the effects of levitation right now but I’m in creative mode so I can’t really show you what it does so here’s we’re gonna do time set Zero make it daytime and get rid of some of these creepers and creatures and get away from here all right so we’re away game mode I can’t type mode zero I am NOT in creative mode anymore but yet I am fine that is because I have levitation on it is an alternate method Of essentially being able to fly around the world now mind you it is a slow method of flying you see how slow I am flying right now it is very slow now to control it just like anything you double jump double jump to get into fly mode And you shift to go down you spacebar to go up but it is really slow but it’s excellent for getting across you know like if you have a nice chasm of space that you can you know lava at the bottom you can float across it to the other Side mind you be very careful the spell is limited on how long it is now I cast in a long minute mode so it’s a little bit longer than normal but that’s exactly what it does it gives you the ability to levitate for a short period Of time all right guys so that’ll be it for this
