Astro648 – Deep Dark Cities Revamped – Ice Box, Watchtowers, Improved Procedural Generation

Hello everybody welcome back today i’m showing you the new and improved deep dark cities first off let’s start with the new icebox so as you can see this structure has not been shown in the deep dark experimental snapshot but now we are in 22w 13a and uh let’s switch into a spectator

Actually let’s keep it in creative mode so let’s say that you’re in survival we’re in creative but let’s just pretend we’re in survival you’re sneaking up the stairs and you look around you walk in boom note block now this note block activates the skull creature if there is a skull creaker but over

Here we only have the skulk sensors so we are pretty lucky in this case but usually uh in a skulk infestation if this were to happen then this little creaker would be activated and a warden would be after you okay now um this is the icebox as you

Can see there is ice and here is a trapdoor there is um this thing if you step on this pressure point nothing happens i’m not sure what um maybe there’s some sort of uh note block underneath it i’m not sure let’s break that oh there wasn’t any no

Blocks okay so as you can see over here this is the ice box you will get there’s snow over here there is ice as well there is a soul lantern and in this chest you will get a lot of snowballs a lot of packed ice and some baked

Potatoes and golden carrots as well even though we didn’t get any golden carrots okay alongside that i’m gonna show you around the new uh deep dark city generation so let me just go back into spectator mode okay now we can face through blocks and do a lot more stuff

Now over here as you can see there is a lot more skulk generating uh it’s generating in larger blobs than before oh this is a pretty nice seed you can see that the lush caves intersect with the deep dark i wonder what happened here now um even though we are in

A lush cave biome this is still a deep dark city and no mobs can spawn over here other than the warden over here you can see a new uh structure in the deep dark called the watchtower and the watchtower is well it’s a watchtower and there’s also these mini structures

Scattered around here there’s this mini watch tower with a ladder going from level two of the walls to level one there’s nothing more it’s just ladder and uh if you haven’t noticed yet this is dark oak we did not see dark oak in the experimental snapshot

So this is cool they have added a lot more decorators and over here you can see there’s some random deep slate blocks scattered around this is actually the ruins uh one type of the ruins that have been showcased by sliced lime over here you can see one of these um

Structures that there is usually a chest but i do not see a chest i think i accidentally broke it while touring this deep dark city this is another one of these structures i think this is the same except infested by deep dark skull and you can see that this has

Some decent loot over here you can see the iron leggings uh with some good enchantments well semi good enchantments both have curses but they do have decent enchantments you can see this um sort of watchtower thing it looks like a watchtower but it’s not the same as the other one and it’s more

Broken down you can see these pillars of dark oak like bridge like things stretching across and uh let’s walk around let’s fly around for a little bit there’s another watchtower over here much much more ruined and this is one of those other um towers except with a loot chest and

A little bit less room i must say okay now over here we will see uh sort of a peculiarity um as you can see the structure is um the giant portal structure but small that’s uh interesting maybe it suggests something to the lower and as you can see

This is the same structure that they featured in minecon live if you watched it and um you can see the dev started out about here they walked up the stairs sneaked up the stairs they went over here they opened the chest they activated the skull creaker on accident or so we think

Probably just to showcase the warden they went up the stairs to avoid the warden there was a skull creature about here blah blah blah and then they eventually got hit by the warden of course because that’s how they do stuff they show you how it works by showing off the thing and something

That might happen in a new person’s survival world okay as we uh go around here you can see This is a gigantic structure and this is the city center there are a couple of variants and as you can see there is a new bridge leading up to the city center from the main path so you can walk over here walk up the stairs walk across the bridge and then uh

In one of the three different variations of the city center there is a loot chest but in this one this is just the average variation you only get nothing over here now if we go under the city center through here you will find a redstone laboratory

As you can see there have been some a strange contraption set up such as a piston door and some sort of redstone uh light thing i’m not sure i’m not very good with redstone so any redstoners who know what they’re doing in the comments please tell me in the comments and um

Yeah that’s pretty much the redstone room there’s just a bunch of redstone test contraptions maybe they’re adding redstone to the lower so that new players can get a little hint on how redstone works i’m not sure their intentions behind it but their intentions are always unclear we’re

Supposed to find out the lower our self now you can see the deep dark city is massive and on screen now uh i will be adding a clip from the developer slice lime uh channel go check him out even though i’m smaller channel than him i still gotta give him

The credits that he deserves there’s a lot of modular city structure uh parts that go together to build this entire main uh actual city so now that you’ve seen some of those um city structures modular city structures i’m gonna just fly through fly around here and let you get a scale of this [Applause] Oh and i forgot to mention this is one of the campsite variations as you can see there is a campfire that is hidden under a wool block and one last thing before i continue uh well before i end this video as you can see there are some light posts scattered

Around here and pretty much uh if let’s go back into creative and let’s say that we make a signal like this let’s go here boom a skulk sensor that is waterlogged and activated which activates the light but in this case we have lava so we

Don’t really ah that scared me i did not see that warden up here okay anyways uh that was a jump scare gotta um calm myself down anyways um over here you can see there is a light it’s connected to a skulk sensor this is probably demonstrating the use of wireless redstone

And you can use the skulk sensor for wireless redstone let’s say that you’ve got a skulk sensor you’ve got a redstone lamp and uh you want the redstone line to activate when there’s a signal that’s pretty much how they’re doing it so let’s put the redstone lamp over here spoke sensor

You walk near it and it activates now let’s say that you want the signal to activate only from a specific direction then i will take a wool let’s say this one i will build a round scope sensor like this and boom the signal can only come from the front

Not from the back as you can see over here we’re making a lot of signals that would be picked up but it’s blocked by the wool so this opens up some opportunities for the redstoners i’m not very good at at redstone as i said earlier so
