Hello everyone my name is Pixar IFS and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide today is the day we are updating to Minecraft 1.15 which as you can see in the background has introduced bees into the game we’re looking forward to getting hold of bees and to be honest This update is mostly an update to fix a lot of bugs within the game and pun definitely intended as far as I can tell this is the buzzy bees update and it also coincides with the release of minecraft bedrock Edition for PlayStation 4 so welcome at the PlayStation 4 players into the bedrock Family I’m sure you guys will have a lot of fun cross playing with people on mobile devices and switch and Xbox and Windows 10 I’m going to be covering the Java edition of the games so if you are new to the Survival Guide and you’re hopping in at this point bear in mind That this video is in at minecraft a Java Edition as you can see on the screen wow that’s a large be okay so this world I’ve had going for the last year a year and a half at this point is currently in Minecraft 114 and I need to Update it the first thing I am going to do however is to make a backup because it’s very important when changing versions even if the version is a full release and it’s been bug tested by the community and by the devs make sure you make a backup before you upgrade your World just on the off chance that something does go wrong and there we go we’ve backed up the world and my days what a large world it is it’s over a gigabyte on disk I have not trimmed any chunks out of the world this time which is going to be an Interesting thing because we are potentially going to have to find some bees that have generated in chunks that I’ve not loaded in the world before but without further ado we know what we’re doing we’ve made a backup let’s head into the game ah here we are over at the Ski resorts which we are going to leave for the majority of this video in fact probably the next few videos we are not going to be spending too much time over here it’s also going to look a little bit different largely because we do not have Optifine for 1.15 yet the Developers of Optifine are kind of a separate thing from Mojang themselves so we might not see a knob to fine release for a little while so things like connected glass that I use elsewhere in the series are going to be absent for a little while some small textural tweaks The fact that I can’t zoom in on anything is gonna be a little bit strange for a while but don’t worry hopefully at some point the Optifine developers will release their version of Optifine for 1.15 and we’ll be able to get that stuff back in the meantime atta Let’s head over to the nether portal let’s hop over to founders Forge and from there we’ll decide which direction we need to go in order to find the bees and I have to say just flying back through the nether right now the difference is already noticeable in the Chunk loading because I’m not noticing the chunk loading at all in previous versions it was possible to see the terrain loading in front of you basically and now there it seems to be a bit of a difference with the fog I’m not sure if that’s something outstanding in My video settings that I can change I guess not because this isn’t the Optifine version where we can set the fog at all but I haven’t noticed any areas where the world has been loading in the background it’s just so much smoother and the framerate has taken a Little bit of a dip but that’s really not all that noticeable for me I have quite a beefy PC though so I’m kind of lucky in that respect but yeah it’s actually running incredibly smoothly not to mention electro takeoff seems to be a little bit more reliable and Wow yeah Okay it’s been a while since I’ve taken a look at glass without connected textures this is going to make the nether hub look a little bit weird for a while along with some of the other things where I’ve got large areas of connected glass but hey this is not bad This is not bad so far performance wise really seems to be an improvement let’s see what that’s like in the overworld yeah I am noticing now that I’ve come back to town a little bit of a dip and of course now that we can see into the Distance now we don’t have the cavernous terrain of the nether to obscure the fact that chunks are loading in the background yet that stuff is loading in a little bit in the distance and my framerate has taken a bit of a dip but you know what I do have my render Distance set to 24 chunks from over at the ski resort let’s drop that down to 16 and see if that runs a little bit more smoothly I’m gonna sleep over here as well for the first time in a little while and that has reset my respawn Point there’s gotta be a video later in this week when we will go over some of the recent quality of life changes some of which that have even been ported over from minecraft bedrock edition to minecraft Java because there really are some interesting additions to the quality of life here in clue The fact that we can now right-click on a bed to set a respawn point during the day even if you can’t sleep in that bed which is actually going to be really useful for things like minigames things like I don’t know if you go to the stronghold and you want to set your Spawn point before going to the end and fighting the dragon you don’t have to wait until night anymore you can set your respawn point during the day that is fascinating that’s something that you know is a great quality of life feature for Minecrafters now and man it feels good to be home It’s really quite strange here we go check this out BAM respawn point set appears in the chat and now if we respawn if I happen to die at all which I don’t plan on doing but you never know I will respawn at this bed even though I Set my spawn point during the day I Mendelson how are you mate but as I was saying when I introduced this video we will have to go a little bit further afield if we want to find the key content feature of this update bees because the bees will spawn naturally Around hives in forest biomes but unfortunately stuff like that will not generate in terrain that already exists in the world simply because the developers don’t know where you’ve built stuff and where you haven’t and they don’t want to have to program around all of the stuff that players have already Built so stuff only generates in chunks that you have not loaded before if it’s a new feature you have to explore further than you have ever explored in order to find it and so I’m gonna have to figure out which directions in my world I have explored the lease I think Probably somewhere to the southeast is the least likely place to have explored in that direction and I’ll have to go maybe a couple of thousand blocks I think before I end up encountering some terrain I haven’t found before because we’ve gone in a lot of different directions really over that way is the Mesa and the desert to the north of us is the Guardian farm and the snow biome in that direction there isn’t a whole lot that I’ve really been out to south there is the jungle village that I made when 1.14 first came out and the flower Forest is over there I think as well but there should be enough terrain around there that I haven’t previously generated in order to to find some beehives or some bee nests I think they’re called but they’re in mind that if you wanted to edit the chunks of your world so that some Areas were deleted to make way for terrain to regenerate as long as you don’t have anything built there it should be safe enough to do that I have done an episode of the Minecraft Survival Guide about that before and I will link that in the AI cards and Possibly even the video description as well so you guys can find that nice and easily there are programs out there that exist that will allow you to edit your terrain in Minecraft 1.14 before you upgrade the world and I’m fairly certain those tools will soon be upgraded to Minecraft 1.15 as well the tool I used back in the day was called MC a selector hopefully that one should still be around and should be updated to 1.15 relatively soon for now I think I’m gonna go and get up I’m going to go and for a start repair my pickaxe because I’ve been using that to farm ice over at the snow Plains biome but I’m going to repair some my tools and my electra because we have a little bit of traveling to do okay tools are all repaired elf apart from the bow which doesn’t have mending On it so it’s going to need to be repaired in an anvil if I want to repair it but it should have enough durability to last this trip I’m not planning on shooting the Bea’s down with a bow and arrow or anything one thing I do want to Make before we leave though is a campfire or two because there is some functionality involving the bees and campfires which we need to look into there are a couple of other things you will want to take on a trip if you are looking to encounter some bees you’ll Need a silk touch tool of some kind I’m gonna be using a pickaxe but I also have silk touch on my axe and shovel as well and I think I might also end up bringing a pair of shears because you can actually get honey combs from beehives By shearing them so we’re going to look into that a little bit as well now I think we will head off in a southeasterly direction from of the town here and see how we get on hopefully we should be able to find a forest but it’s Gonna be a little bit of a trip so I will bring you guys back in when I found a likely candidate so on further investigation a look at the Minecraft Wiki has told me that you can expect to find bees in trees in Plains biomes flower forests and occasionally Sunflower Plains as well so you’ll find them hovering around the trees in these Plains biomes and from the looks of things the chunks were loading a little bit in the distance as I came up on this Plains biome and that seemed to indicate to me that this was a Plains by and we Had not loaded before and I think in the distance over here I happen to spot a couple of bees that were hovering around some of the trees in this direction so you’ll head over here and take a look and see what we can find if there are Beehives bee nests in these trees or if they’re oh there they are look at them are they’re so cute and that right there ladies and gentlemen is our first bee nest now until you end up hitting one of the bees you do not need to worry about them being hostile to you They won’t come up and sting you they will just kind of bumble around doing their own thing and I think these while they do look a little large compared to the bees we have in real life you probably wouldn’t want to encounter one this size in the real world they look Frankly rather adorable I do like them a lot and they actually have some behavior related to flowers which we will go into a little bit later but of course bees being pollinators that’s kind of what they do over here we have the bee nest and I don’t know if we’ll Be able to get to look around the side yeah we can okay so this nest here does not have any honey in it right now or if it does it’s not dripping out of the sides or anything those gaps in the texture there will actually change depending on whether or not the Beehive Is full of honey and we will be looking into honey a lot in the videos to come later in this series because honey blocks are some of the coolest new things that have been added to Minecraft in this update but we will get to those in the near future Now the bee nest here is the reason we have brought the silk touch tool with us in the first place because by picking up a nest with silk touch you can actually bring any bees that are already in the nest along with you how do you tell if bees are in a nest Though there isn’t really a way to do that other than using the debug screen right now and as you can see right here we are not seeing anything in the targeted block which suggests that there are bees inside of here the honey level is also zero apparently these also break Faster with an X so a silk touch ax is going to be the thing you want although any silk touch tool will probably do they can be broken without silk touch but they will drop empty they will not have any bees inside them when you do That so if you want to transport bees around if you want to take some back to your base it is going to be important to make sure you break these with a silk touch tool let’s also see if we can get any honeycomb from this one by Right-clicking on it with a set of shears note looks like we don’t have any honeycomb in there either that may be related to honey production as well so if the honey level is at zero we’re not gonna be able to get any honeycomb from it the thing about these bee nests is That bees will emerge to defend the nest if you break it without a silk touch tool and so the way to get around that if you don’t have silk touch is to put a campfire block underneath it leaving one block gap there and that’s going to have The smoke particles rise up under the Beehive and that’s going to allow you to break it without the bees inside the hive swarming out and getting angry at you this obviously mimics the behavior of bees in real life where smoke is used to disorient them a little they Tend to calm them down I don’t think we need to worry too much about that right now though so I’m gonna place all of that back I’m most interested to see if these bees will return to this nest at night because that is supposed to be part of their behavior The Sun is going down right now so we can wait a little while and see if the bees make it back to the hive while I’m at it I will take a look around to see if there are any other nests in this area because chances are we might be Able to bring a couple of these home and one or two of them might already have some bees in in the first place it is a little bit of a challenge to find them though because there are only going to be bees in about five percent of trees That generate in Plains and sunflower Plains and also in flower forest flower forests are probably going to be the best place to find them because flower forests have a lot of trees that can potentially generate their wearers the trees in Plains biomes are a little bit more sparse they’re mostly open Grassland with the occasional tree here and there so like this tree this tree this tree over here that one over there those all have a five percent chance of generating with a bee nest in them and from the looks of things we got lucky with the bee nests that we found over There because I’m not seeing any others around here in these trees it may be that we generated this half of the Plains as I was flying past in a previous version of the game but it may just be that that tree over there was the only one that was able to generate a Venus so let’s walk over here or fly over here rather and let’s hang out by the bee nest to see if the bees return to it now the Sun is starting to dip and I will take a look and see if we can detect whether or not there are any bees Inside of the hive yet I don’t think there will be even though the Sun is going down right now I wonder so I’m gonna experiment with this right now I’m gonna try and break this with a silk touch tool and see if a I can pick it up and be if there are any bees that will fly out of it when I do that nope looks like there were no bees inside of here or if there are I was able to just pick them up with the bee nest and we can hopefully bring them Back to my base if I spot any bees around here on the plains though I will pop the hive down and they can fly into it and hopefully we’ll be able to bring back more than one but I think if any bees were using that hive as their home They have it now returned to the nest I’m gonna have to stop using the words hi and nest interchangeably because they actually are two different things which I’ll explain a little bit more as we continue this episode I might grab a few flowers while I’m here though because Flowers are actually what you will use to breed bees a little bit down the line and if I’m not gonna get shot by too many skeletons or blown up by too many creepers I should hopefully be able to get out of here with the flowers and With this bee nest the more the merrier though and I can see a bee up there in this tree it’s got a little bit of pollen on it as well let’s see if maybe we can get that bee to join our little nest here here you go buddy here you go Come on into the nest or do you have another nest over here that you’re trying to get to I wonder let’s take a look and I have to fight off the other insects around here the arachnids rather and let’s see if that one yep that one Does seem to have joined the nest and now we can pick it up excuse me mr. zombie get out of here and now we’ve picked up the nest and we have ourselves another bee or two in the hive I have a feeling we have at least a couple of Them in there so let’s take this back to founders forge and I’m gonna run some experiments on our newly acquired bee nest ok back here at the farm I think we want to create some kind of testing ground for this bee nest and we need an enclosed area at first in order to Monitor the bees behavior and see what they can do so I’m actually going to use this hillside here temporarily and I think in the fullness of time since it makes sense for it to be on the farm we might convert this area up here into a Kind of apiary I think that’s what it’s called when there are bees involved it’s not an aviary because that’s what birds I’m pretty sure apiary is the word and yeah if we can have a few beehives up here on stilts or something like that that will be super cool maybe using Scaffolding or something like that I think that’ll work pretty well so let’s grab the bee nest and I think we’ll probably surround it with glass or something like that to stop the bees escaping in the mean time because there’s a few things I want to try here Okay welcome to the greenhouse the bee greenhouse or testing module beta if you like and today we are going to be investigating subject number one the bees which hopefully I should have brought with me I did use silk touch on the hive I’m hoping that they will be Able to get out of the hive whenever they want to and let’s dot a few flowers around here like so to see if the bees will come out and try to pollinate I did hear a buzz there for a second and in the subtitles it said bees work and I wonder If that means they are active inside of there and they’re considering coming out I don’t think they need a great deal of space around here I’m fairly certain they should just pop out adjacent to the hive block and I wonder if maybe the hive block needs some stuff around it or The the nest rather I keep calling it a hive I’m sorry apparently I’ve done a little bit more research now and the bees will actually go into the hive and work for a little while if we stand here for a second or two we might actually hear the sound of the Bees working and the honey level of the hive will increase by one and that won’t show any outward indications of that there you go you heard the bee sound there yep it’s happening um they won’t actually leave the hive until their work is done at the honey Level goes up by one and the block itself does not change in appearance until the honey level ends up reaching five at which point oh there we go we have a bee at which point the the bees will exit the hive once they have increased the honey level they’ll come Out to pollinate the flowers and when honey level five is achieved the block actually shows some honey dripping out of these holes in the sides here now like I said the bees themselves are not aggressive they will not hurt you even if you mess with their flowers and that One seems to have pollinated with that flower and immediately gone straight back into the hive increasing the honey level now let’s see if we can get a couple more hives in here in the fullness of time and we should be able to start a little miniature honey Factory inside of here I am hoping we got more than one bee from this nest though because it does not seem to indicate on the debug screen how many bees there are inside of here so for all I know we only have one which is going To be a problem we will need more than that because I want to be able to breed them using flowers and only one bee has popped out of this hive at a time so I wonder if maybe I can limit the amount of flowers that are around here so they Don’t immediately pollinate and go back into the hive or nest or whatever we have here and then at that point we’ll be able to see if we have more than one bee inside of here if a second bee pops out because the first one won’t go Back in until it’s found pollen or until nighttime falls regardless of that if we want to have a higher population of bees we will need more than this because these bee nests and bee hives can only house up to three bees at a time meaning if you want a larger population You are going to need lots of these and any homeless bees any bees that do not attach themselves to a home hive will just kind of wander around aimlessly until they find one now the bee is following me around right now because I’m holding flowers in my hand the bees Actually get attracted to flowers in much the same way that other animals are attracted for things like wheat and carrots so if you are trying to lure bees around you can have them follow you with leads of course but you can also just hold some flowers in your hand and The bees should follow you around happily in this case however it does seem like this is the only bee we’ve got right now so I can feed it a flower but we’re not going to be able to breed it with another bee so I think it’s probably time to head back to that Plains biome and see if we can find ourselves a couple more nests well I seem to have got their attention zero out here four thousand blocks away from spawn and I may as well try breeding these two bees together like so with a couple of flowers and they produce perhaps the most adorable Offspring and and we get that advancement again because of course we have a new mob to breed in the game now the bee and yeah that is just the cutest size for the bees I can understand why they’re not all that size because they’d be so difficult to spot at a distance But still that is freaking adorable you guys that is just so so cute now hopefully these should pollinate they should make their way back into the nest that one there has gone the next two should go as well I wonder if the baby is going to do it yes the family of bees Is all making their way into the nest and that is when we can take it down off of the tree and oh we have made ourselves another advancement because there are advancements tied to the bees now available in the husbandry tab here and yes I know I should get on with my Custom advancements at some point but for now we have a few extras to take care of total bee location moving a bee nest with three bees inside using silk touch great stuff now we should be able to take those three bees back to our experimentation area and hopefully be able to multiply Them a little bit until we have a proper swarm of bees what is this a balanced diet oh of course there is new food in the game as well we’ll need to encounter that and speaking of which we need to use a campfire to collect honey from a beehive Using a bottle without aggravating the bees so that is something we will have to do once we get back to founders Forge I’ll take a look around to see if there are any more bee nests around here because this does seem like a brand new generated Plains biome ripe for the Picking as long as there are hopefully a couple more nests around they are quite few and far between though I definitely think having a flower forest is going to be your best bet here unfortunately for me the only flower forest I know of in this world is one I’ve already generated Back when we made the flower farm which could potentially be a useful spot now that we need to breed bees with flowers but you know what I can get enough flowers I get poppies from the iron farm if I want to remove the composters from that that kind of thing we’ve got plenty Of opportunities there however in the meantime we will need to start with a decent population we’ve got for now I will aim to get a couple more and then we’ll head back home and after a bit of flying around I was finally able to find a flower forest and as I was saying There are a greater number of trees here than there will be in Plains biomes so here we are pretty much guaranteed to find a couple of beehives around here bee nest whatever we want to call them at this point I think we should have a couple of bees around here yet there are A couple just in that hive and all we should need to do is wait for them to go back in there we can admire the texture in the meantime hanging from one of these large oak trees they actually look really quite lovely and once these two Pop back into the hive we’ll take that with us and I think it should probably be because it’s got separate NBT tags it will probably not stack in your inventory so you’ll need to create a bit of space in your inventory if you want to bring these things with you it also Occurs to me that I have my hostile and friendly creature sounds turned down because I was using my gold farm so let’s see if we can get a little a little hint of the bee sounds as we’re waiting for these to head back into the hive there we go we just get the Occasional buzz out of them which is actually kind of nice because you wouldn’t want them to be just a drone in the background that might a little bit more realistic but on the other hand it’s probably not what you want if you’re working around bees constantly just the occasional buzz is Quite nice I wonder if we’ve got any more hives that we can find around here yep I see another bee down here there should be a nest somewhere on one of these trees if the bee has started there to begin with and I wonder if they get Buried in the leaves at any point just because of the way they generate in the world I can’t see a nest so maybe this one might be looking for a nest if we place one down again oh no there is a nest on the other side Of this tree fantastic so let’s see if we can let’s move that so that we can let that be through get it to pollinate hop back into the nest and then we’ll we’ll see see if we can bring these to home as well oh it looks like one of Them ended up popping out you know what I might take this one with me like so let’s grab that and there we go we have angered the other bee and we get to see what happens when bees attack because when they sting you they will give you Poison and their eyes will turn red bees also have a kind of pack mentality much like wolves or zombie pigman do where they will swarm around you and if there are any other bees in the area then they copy the same behavior after a while they will chill out a little bit and After they have stung you which this one is about – yep there we go I better eat some gold carrots just in case there are any more around here the bee will actually die much like in a real life when a bee loses its stinger it’s actually kind of sacrificing itself and Bees will only be able to attack you once so well it is a little bit sad to see them just buzz their way to an early grave it is just the natural course of things I guess I wonder if we can get this one to join a hive before it ends Up dying but chances are if it’s attacked me once it’s probably going to die very shortly yep there we go it ended up dying oh well at least we can take this beehive with us we’ve got at least one bee inside of there and that is an example of the bait the bees Behavior if they are outside of their home hive and it is destroyed they will actually get angry at you so it is worth making sure that all of your bees have returned to their hive before you end up breaking the hive and moving on okay back at our little testing site The Beehive is actually now full of honey and that shows that it’s got two honey level five fantastic let’s put the other bees around here as well we’ll put one nest on there another nest on here and our fourth nest I guess we’ll put on this side over There now we could obviously open all of this up if we wanted to the bees don’t seem to want to stray too far away from their home which is great but as long as we’ve got a few flowers around here they should start to produce a little bit of Honey in each of those hives and now we can go ahead and get ourselves some honeycomb and some bottled honey I’m also going to grab a bunch of flowers while I’m here let’s use these pink tulips seeing as I seem to have the most of those maybe grab some orange ones for variety Because we can use these both to breed the bees and to make sure that they have the maximum amount of stuff in here that they can get pollen from so they will more quickly go back into the hives and start to prepare honey so let’s pop a Few more of those around and then sooner or later we should start to see a couple of bees popping out here now that right there is a full hive hello yes I do have a flower and let’s see if we can wait for another one to pop out of here as Well and we can start to breed them because ideally we want a larger population of bees than we have nests here so I can show you what to do about making bee hives so it looks like the whole family has come out here and they Are not ready to breed yet but luckily a couple of these are there we go we should be able to make those two another tiny bee gets produced and in the meantime I can show you how to acquire honey and honeycomb so walk up to a hive which has the dripping honey texture Coming out of the sides right click on it with some shears and the bees will get really mad at you so yeah we should probably avoid doing that while the bees are in full swing and a few of those are probably gonna die now unfortunately much like other mobs though the bees Will eventually lose their aggro on you and unfortunately a few of them have ended up losing their lives as well I really wish I hadn’t done that we really should have put campfires underneath them before we did that so that was my unfortunate mistake but here’s hoping we Have enough bees left in here that we can continue to breed up the population this one here still has its stinger so maybe if I hold out a couple of flowers by the time that one comes out of the hide we can gather up that extra Honeycomb as well we should be able to mate it with another one and we can breed our bee population back up again in the meantime I was able to acquire three honeycomb so now I can go into a crafting table make some oak planks we Will need at least six of those and with three oak planks along the bottom three oak planks along the top and three honeycomb in the middle we can make ourselves a beehive and now that is a man-made version of a bee nest but it effectively fulfils the same purpose It’s just not the type of thing you’ll find in the wild bee nests are found outside but you cannot reproduce them yourselves you can make artificial beehives that will be able to store bees in if your bee nests get overpopulated and you no longer have any room to store The bees that you’ve been breeding let’s hold out a flower in front of us and see if that other bee emerges from the hive again because at least one of these nests is still working so hopefully that should mean we have another one for this One to mate with there we go they’ve all popped out and it looks like we still have a couple of junior bees as well unfortunately that one isn’t done with its cool down timer for mating yet so we are gonna have to wait a little while I’m pretty sure you can still prompt These younger bees to grow up by feeding them flowers though so we might be able to encourage one of them to grow up alternatively we’ll just wait for this one to be ready to breed again now the next thing we want to do of course is End up gathering a little bit of honey from this one over here and for that I’m going to place a campfire underneath here and that with the smoke particles should hopefully yeah it’s smoked a bee out of there for a start let’s see if that one is keen to make it looks like It is yep okay great we should be able to get our bee population back together not only that but we can now use a glass bottle to harvest some honey from it and the bees are fine with that so really the ideal setup for these beehives is going to be something like This where the the camp fires could maybe be turned on and off and we could allow ourselves to harvest the honey from the hives I think that will actually drive the bees out of the nest if you have a campfire underneath though let’s find out if that’s what Happens because we all need a couple of campfires here and as the smoke drift up no it looks like that B might just have been done working inside there oh good there are some pillagers coming down from the mountains we’ll ignore them for now so okay it looks like we can’t just Leave these campfires lit underneath here then that will make things easier for sure and in the meantime we have a bottle of honey which we can just eat to complete the advancement there again yep there we go but that is probably the last time I will actually eat a bottle Of honey in this series because honey can be used for a whole bunch of other things including honey blocks which are really really quite interesting additions to this new update to the game and I’m gonna try and despawn those pillagers before they cause any trouble with my villager trading hall or Anything so yeah just gonna fly up into the sky to get rid of those while I’m over here at the storage building I might as well make a couple more campfires because it seems like we’re gonna need to have campfires underneath some of those nests in hives permanently So let’s get ourselves a little bit of coal grab some more sticks and yet we should have enough to make three more campfires okay that will do for the moment we can make a couple more sticks and have a couple of backups if we need them and now with camp fires burning Merrily away underneath each of these hives we should be able to harvest the honeycomb or honey from each hive there we go without angering the bees and now we have enough high comb to actually make that into a honeycomb block using a 2×2 formation like that honeycomb blocks however are not really anything Practical there are they’re basically just aesthetic blocks there for building and not much else really so you might not be interested in those if you’re interested in the more practical side of bees and that’s really where the honey blocks come in to the honey blocks let Me tell you are something else but this is what a honeycomb block looks like when you place it down in the world it’s got a very honeycomb e texture it could just as easily be like you know a floor tile in a hotel or something like That and the one problem with it being that it’s got a kind of squelchy wet sound to it when you place it down it sort of sounds a bit like a slime block like that it’s got a a wet sound to it when you place it down which might not Be ideal for walking around on in a hotel lobby if it’s gonna be a fancy carpet pattern or something like that but even so I think it’s kind of a nice to have very golden and very kind of like lush looking but the honey block Itself is the kind of thing we want to be dealing with here so I’m going to try my best to breed up a few more bees while we wait for them to pollinate these hives well the bees have done their work it is slow going breeding them up from a lower Population after a couple of silly mistakes angering the bees and unfortunately getting them to sacrifice themselves for the hive we have a fourth hive of honey which means that we now have four honey bottles making a honey block at last and honey blocks are really quite interesting the texture of Them is very transparent in the inventory I wonder if that’s going to change but these are kind of like a counterpoint to slime blocks if they’re gonna be really interesting to mess with and I’m looking forward to getting more of them we’re probably gonna work on some automatic honey harvesting in Future for now we are just going through the basics here but honey blocks are very different to slime blocks for a start if you walk on them you are slowed down a little bit sort of the same way you are on sole sand you have a little Bit less inertia moving on honey blocks and also so do items so items it’s kind of difficult to demonstrate this with only one honey block right now but items will kind of stick to honey blocks and will slide down the sides of them and honey blocks are gonna be useful for Things like moving contraptions and like pulling blocks around because they have a similar sticky piston functionality to slime blocks with the fun exception that slime blocks and honey blocks do not stick to each other which allows for some really interesting piston door contraptions at along with a bunch of Other redstone things that we can do in future you’ll also find that while you’re on a honey block you can’t jump as high which might make it a little bit difficult to escape traps using them and you’ll notice that mobs are pretty much the same if you end up with a zombie Walking along here they won’t have as easy a time getting up a block and getting to you because they will be able to jump from the honey block up to the next block at least that’s what I believe is supposed to happen we’ll see how it works out in practice if we can Use these for mob traps if we can use them to transport some stuff around it’s gonna be really interesting playing with them but I think we have spent enough time with the bees for today I’m gonna go away and you know breed up a few more Of them and hopefully we should be able to get some larger scale honey production done in the near future but that’s gonna be it for this episode of the Minecraft Survival Guide thank you folks so much for taking a walking through these new features with Me leave a like on this video if you
