Creating Human Organics in Minecraft with VoxelSniper
Hello everybody, welcome back to another video! In this tutorial, a builder named Jossie is going to teach you how to create amazing human organics in a dynamic pose using the plugin VoxelSniper. Before you begin on any organic, it’s a good idea to have in mind which pose you’re going to go for. Jossie already has his organic planned out, so we can get started right away.
Building the Torso
With our ball brush and voxel, we’re going to start with the torso, building it up with the balls and then using the melt brush to melt in the sides a little bit. After this, we’re going to be getting our blend ball and using the gun router to build out some shoulders and hips. We’re alternating between the gunpowder and the arrow on the blend ball, and this is what’s going to be mostly used to build out this organic.
Building the Legs and Arms
We’re going to be using the blend ball again on the legs, building them out with the gunpowder and then shaping them back in with the arrow. If you want to really work on some good dynamic legs, I recommend having a reference picture so that you can get the proportions correct. Once the upper leg is in place, we need to move the organic up so the next leg has room to fit in our height limit. We’re going to be bringing that one down with the ball brush and then blending it in again with the blend ball. We’re going to be using it again here on the legs, building them out with the gunpowder and then shaping them back in with the arrow.
Once the upper leg is in place, we need to move the organic up so the next leg has room to fit in our height limit. We’re going to be bringing that one down with the ball brush and then blending it in again with the blend ball. We’re going to be alternating between smaller radiuses with the blend ball to try to define some basic muscle shapes and using melt in that kneecap there to make sure that its shape is also defined.
Once the legs are done, we can move up to the shoulders to attach some arms. We’re going to be using the ball brush for this. When you switch back to your blend ball, use a larger radius for your blend ball than for your brushes. This makes sure that your blend ball is smoothing the arm all the way around. Also, make sure when you’re building the arms that they’re actually straight so that our mage here doesn’t have any broken bones.
Finishing Touches
Now that our base body is all in place, we just need to work on a couple of small details like the neck, the chest, and the butt. Once those are shaped properly, we can move on to some of the smaller details like the head, the hands, and the feet. Yossie is going to be taking us down to the feet first, where he uses a blend ball on a small radius to bring out a general shape of the foot. We want to portray a lot of motion here, and although Yossie isn’t going to build the individual toes, you can still easily see the motion of each foot and it looks very realistic.
Now that the feet are shaped properly, we can move back over to the head where we’re going to be creating a sphere off to the side with a smaller sphere down on an angle and then blending that together with the blend ball. After it’s pasted onto the neck, we can use a blend ball again to get it shaped properly. Of course, at first, it’s too large, but the blend ball shrinks it down quite easily.
Now we need to blend the head into the neck and we can work on one of the hardest parts of an organic, which is the hands. Building out the hands requires a lot of patience and you need to go easy on yourself while you’re doing this. They’re very challenging, so take your time and work through all of the challenges on each finger. It’s worth the time to get the hands right, especially if you want to have your organic holding something or interacting with something.
Adding Hair
Yossie shows us a quick technique to do some hair. He grabs a sphere brush with sponge on it and creates a kind of flowing shape for the hair. Once that’s done, he creates another sphere out of air and uses it to create a spiraling shape for the hair. This technique makes it easier to create realistic-looking hair without having to build it strand by strand.
And there you have it! With a little bit of patience and some creativity, you can create amazing human organics in Minecraft using VoxelSniper. Happy building!
