We all have a piece of media that defies our childhood don’t we and for me that would have to be Minecraft and I don’t think I’m alone on that statement if you grew up in the early 2010s then there’s no doubt that you at least heard of Minecraft or at least watch someone play it I remember whenever I go to a friend’s house back in the day they would always turn on some Minecraft and show off their cool world and obviously I was one of those kids like I had to show off my big ass mansion that was Made entirely in survival mode I really wish I had access to my old worlds but they are long gone by now now so but if you played Minecraft during its height then you would know just how popular it was cuz it’s kind of hard to explain it was everywhere and you bet That it was ported onto almost every console at the time and I’m not even joking or exaggerating if a device could run Minecraft then you know it was going to be on there regardless if it run like or not what the like who remembers when Minecraft was on the Nintendo 3DS or the PS VA do you remember the PS v cuz I sure as hell don’t but you get the idea Mojang made sure that everyone could play this game and usually these ports did the job well enough like if you only had Nintendo consoles growing up then You could play Minecraft on the Wii U or if you had no consoles growing up then you could just play it on your phone or tablet with pocket edition sure it was extremely limited and you couldn’t even go to the nether but come on it’s Minecraft Pocket Edition but easily the Most popular version of Minecraft that really made an impact on gaming had to be the Xbox 360 version this version of Minecraft is often considered to be the best out of all of the other versions even better than the PC version if you don’t believe me then look at the stats Minecraft on the Xbox 360 sold a whopping 21 million copies making it the third highest selling game for that console right behind GTA 5 and connect Adventures yeah but back on track this version is often what people think of when they talk about classic Minecraft I Am aware that the game has changed a lot since the early days For Better or For Worse but there’s something special about the 360 version of this game that really resonates with a lot of people but why is that I hear you asking well sit down and let’s get into the Discussion shall we but before we get into the funny block game let’s talk about the Xbox 360 for a minute shall we now say what you will about Microsoft and Xbox they’ve never really made the best decisions recently but you cannot deny that the Xbox 360 was a fantastic Console I know that the PS3 was technically more successful than the 360 and has sold more units but like who actually owned a PS3 I swear people only got us so they could play The Last of Us which honestly is completely valid before its time the Xbox 360 was the Go-to console for every kid and teenager back then if you wanted to play the new Hawk game like GTA 4 Halo 3 or Call of Duty Black Ops 2 then you played on the 360 but asides that the console thrived with its biggest selling point online multiplayer basically during the seventh Generation of console online multiplayer was becoming the next big thing and every game wants to have some aspect of online multiplayer the PS3 did try to do online multiplayer but the 360 just did it way better sure looking back paying for a monthly fee just to chat with your Buddies and play online multiplayer is a scam but for the time it was a really big deal playing online multiplayer games on Xbox just felt right and it was definitely a strange time like those compilations you see on YouTube only show a fraction of what Happened in those chat rooms but time to get back to the main focus of this video around 2012 when the Xbox 360 was easily at its hi in popularity a small game called Minecraft was really starting to pop off Minecraft started off as this little test build for a game made for PCs but slowly as the game was updated over time it became more and more popular the game was officially released from its Alpha in November 2011 but it was only available on PC once Mojang saw the rising numbers they realized that if they wanted to keep the numbers Rising They had to ran shout so in the summer of 2012 Mojang and 4J Studios teamed up to release Minecraft for the Xbox 360 and holy cow did it pop the off like it was without doubt the biggest game of that summer but why and how is It so successful well I think it mainly boils down to three reasons one was the multiplayer aspect to it like I said Microsoft really pushed online multiplayer for the 360 so Minecraft was being ported they decided to create an online multiplayer mode for the game where players can join each other’s Worlds and just mess around you could do online multiplayer on PC but it was a bit more complicated and cost money which I still think is load of but whatever but on the Xbox it was way easier as long as you had Xbox Live Gold then you could play with your friends Online it was very convenient and honestly Minecraft was just a perfect game for online multiplayer you and your friends create a world together and do whatever you want it was amazing really and the second reason why I believe it did so well has to be when it was Released this version was released in May 201 12 just before summer so naturally if kids weren’t outside in the warm sun they would be inside playing some online games in their Xbox all day and the best game to play with your friends was you guessed it Minecraft so Given the free time that everyone had back then it made sense that you pick up Minecraft and like I said 2012 was the Xbox 360’s best year so it was kind of perfect timing that Minecraft released on a 360 when it did and the final Reason why it did so well has to do with YouTube and its Community back then 2012 was when mine really started to become popular on YouTube like every gaming YouTuber and their dog was playing Minecraft in the 360 so naturally people would watch these YouTubers see how much Fun they were having with the game and no doubt started begging their parents for a copy of the game now obviously another reason could be that it was just a great game but I strongly believe that these three reasons is why the 360 version of Minecraft became so Beloved The online multiplayer mode the timing of its release and the community around the game but I think another reason why people look back fondly on this version definitely has to be Nostalgia now I know how corny that sounds but think about it people often like to look back To simpler times in their lives where they don’t have to worry about adulthood and stuff and come in memory that a lot of the share has to be playing some Minecraft with her buddies but the added Nostalgia Factor really helps people look back Fally in this version of Minecraft like who doesn’t remember Playing Hunger Games or hide and seek or building contest or trying to kill the ender dragon or just messing around with your friends it was a great time in life that I really wish I could revisit but I can’t because now I’m an adult who has responsibilities and but maybe in The future I’ll make a video going into the importance of Minecraft and how it’s sort of changed my life maybe if this video reaches like 10K views or something I don’t know I’ll do something and if so what kind of memories do you have from it are they good or are they Bad let me know down in the comments below and thank you for watching been a great year am I right well until to the next year see you later Lads He Video Information
