Insane 1.4.6 Minecraft Update: Epic Fireworks & Enchantments!

Foreign and welcome back to the Minecraft Universe this is Jason and today we are going to be reviewing the 1.4.6 update and yes it did go up uh point one really the five went up to a six but it still is a pretty big update it’s not like a

Huge update like you know going from 1.3 to 1.4 but it is something worth noting because there is a lot of uh minor little changes plus they’ve actually added new blocks and stuff um so I mean we will get to that stuff later but um I mean we’re going to start off by

Noting some just small things um things that don’t really uh don’t really make too big of a change and I tried to get everything but uh so there’s a lot of things I haven’t noted I’m not going to note in this uh update review thing uh but you guys can go on

The form and check those out yourself so here we are um we’re gonna start with this um you can now hold shift to place blocks on interactive objects so for example uh the crafting bench here you can’t normally put stuff on the crafting bench without having to do a block next

To it sort of like this like I can’t right click and put a dirt block on top of the grafting bench I have to right click here and then right click there and then I got it but if you hold shift oh I’m in Creative I’m gonna go up here

If you hold shift and right click you can do that now so holding shift basically will cancel out the interactiveness you have between the object and your right click so if I go down here it’ll shift right click and yeah you can do that with signs and

Stuff too so it’s kind of weird seeing signs on objects like uh like crafting benches because that normally doesn’t work like that but yeah that works now so that’s pretty cool um Bose render from farther away so if I take my bow and I try to shoot those calves over

There you’ll see that it goes way far and you can what it basically means you know is that you can see your arrow go a lot a lot farther than it normally could so as you can see as I’ll I saw go way over there so it does eventually cut off

Just like that but that is really far away and you can see your arrow a lot farther now so um next up uh skeleton zombies and Jeffrey mins AKA Pigman uh I guess that s isn’t really needed but Jeffrey men men no s stop that stop stop okay well anyways

Um they will um drop their armor and Enchanted armor um based on what difficulty you on um you know more often or less often so if you’re on hard you’ll they’ll drop their armor and stuff less often than they will on easy so next up we got 3D items and I

Actually did a snapshot uh update review of the um of this and I actually didn’t understand that uh that I was on Fast Graphics you have to be on fancy graphics and I didn’t know that um and I was throwing them down and it just wasn’t showing uh the objects in 3D

It would show them just like that like they always have been and if you’ve ever heard of the 3D items mod I don’t know if it’s called that exactly but um I don’t I don’t remember if I ever did a review of it but I always liked it and

Um yeah it basically does the same thing your objects now drop in 3D when unfancy and I really like that a lot um it works for anything so um it’s really really cool I enjoy that they they added that in and I’m glad

They did so uh here we are uh we got a new mode setting uh called touch screen mode setting it’s really funky it’s you go to options and you turn it on it’s right here and um you basically just turn it on and what it does is it makes

It so you can drag and drop stuff I’m pretty sure you have to have a touch screen computer for that to work because it’s really weird and um just using the mouse because I’m pretty sure it’s not what it’s for because why would you ever

Want to drag and drop drop stuff but uh basically if you have a touchscreen computer you can click and hold to cut a stack in half and it’s basically for managing inventory stuff not really I’m walking around and things like that obviously so um yeah just inventory things if you

Have a touch screen I believe and that’s what that is for um next up we got the tool highlight in case you haven’t noticed whenever I’m switching items the text above it will come up and tell you what the item is now this is useful um for a number of

Things you can actually have a texture back on um that you’re new to and you can turn this option on and um you know you can see what items are which and get used to them or if you’re new to Minecraft you don’t play it much

This is a good handy little tool and also if you actually find this very annoying I myself don’t like it too much I don’t think I’d actually have it on um myself because I don’t know I I know all the items so I’m like pretty used to

Minecraft obviously by now so I mean it doesn’t bother me too much but I’m glad they have an option to turn it off it’s not in the options but it is in the options.text in your Minecraft or your dot Minecraft folder it should be in there it’s called options.txt and

Actually set the time to zero and you can turn it on or off there in case it annoys you or whatever um but yeah that is pretty much it for that um dropping items while holding control drops the whole stack so if you get a whole stack of dirt here

Um if I huh what am I still in touch screen mode better oh okay we forgot to turn that off yeah it it makes it all weird so I recommend not using that but if you hold control um and then oh not not click and hold Q

Or press Q it will drop the stack of dirt so um yeah that’s and I didn’t pick up any of the stack because I’m in Creative but you should be able to pick them all back up all right so next up we got override the width and height of the

World and options.tech so remember the options.txt it’s in your dot Minecraft folder um you can go in there and change the width and the height uh to whatever you want so if you’re into that you can do it uh so they’ve actually fixed many of bugs so just a bunch of bugs that

They’ve had in 1.4 are now fixed a bunch of them I’m not going to list them obviously but they’re on the Forum if you want to go check them out and as you can see I did a little spider egg in the frame yeah I know clever right because he’s a bug

Okay so next up we got um enchanted books so enchanted books you you can enchant books now um and basically how you enchant them is uh you can they’re actually found in Village chests and dungeon chests and um villagers will also trade them so we’ll

Go over there and check out if there is any over there because I actually haven’t checked so um but yeah anyways whenever you get an enchanted book you obtain it or you enchant a book whatever so basically to enchant a book what you would have to do is get a book then go

Into your enchantment table obviously and then throw it in and it will simply enchant it with some random enchantment depending on what level you’re on of course and basically it’s like storing an enchantment for later and you can just go ahead and keep it and then basically if you want to enchant a

Weapon with it or tools or armor you can do so by putting in the weapon or armor first or tool and then putting the book and then enchant whatever you want with that book sort of merging it together like you would if you merged a weapons enchantment with another weapons

Enchantment or two weapons and then you’ll get both enchantments so yeah that’s how those work and you can do those with you know like I said tools armor and weapons and it what happens in Creative right now is you’re gonna actually do this in creative so I got

This sharpness 4. so if I wanted to enchant a piece of dirt with sharpness for I can do so in Creative um and creative they kept that feature they actually had it back in the snapshot but I guess they decided not to get rid of it and here it is so now I

Got a dirt that does sharpness for it doesn’t glow when you place it down but it’s in your inventory so do whatever you want with it I guess um so that is that and um so let’s go up here and read some of these signs sharpness Smite and Bane of Arthropods

Can be applied to axes that’s cool um there is a new Thorns enchantment and the Thorns enchantment will um basically hurt enemies when they attack you so if you’re wearing a full set of armor with thorns enchantment that you can get from books the chest play only only the chest

Plates any of the chest plates can receive Thorns Thorns by itself but any other armor piece will not receive it unless Enchanted through a book so um at least that’s the way it was in the last snapshot if it’s not right now I guess we could try it but now now it would

Take too many enchantings but that’s the way it was in snapshot so you can merge them with books and then get thorns on a full set of armor and basically if you do that mobs that will attack you will actually take damage um sometimes not all the time but they

Will take damage through this Thorns enchantment um just from hitting you so that that’s a really cool enchantment and next up we got efficiency and silk touch can be applied to shears for harvesting cobwebs so that’s neat and um over here we got Unbreaking can be applied to anything

With durability so tools armor weapon um pretty much anything with the durability can have Unbreaking now so that’s really cool um so next up we’re going to move on to fireworks all right so fireworks are the new items in this 1.4.6 update and the reason they’re um added now and not in

1.4 is because they wanted to add fireworks before New Year so you guys could have a happy New Years in Minecraft um so thank you Mojang for being so festive and spirited um we love you so um yeah here they are um basically uh you can use a gunpowder

And a paper and put them together and crafting table and make a normal just firework rocket and um it’s it’s really pointless it shoots up in the air just like that and it just disappears because there’s no firework star attached to your rocket so um to do so what you need

To do is you can’t simply just add a star to your um rocket it wouldn’t it won’t work like that um you actually have to um craft the star along with the rocket um so craft put the star in with the gunpowder and the paper to get your

Finalized rocket and we’re going to do that right now so um we go into our crafting table here all right so here is the process I’m not going to craft like every single thing but I will show you what everything does um so basically you got your gun powder

And you got your paper that will make your rocket but we’re not done um we need to actually make a star first so um to make a star you choose one of these items here which will give your uh give it an effect okay let’s let’s just

See what these effects do and then we’ll go from there so basically you grab or you throw in a fire charge or a diamond or a glowstone dust or a feather or a gold nugget or a creeper head or any mob head and um then you throw in a color so

Let’s do a what color firework do we want I got fire charge so that’ll be a big ball the fire charge is a big ball we want I don’t know let’s just do like magenta and then uh a gun powder and it will make a firework star then you take

Your firework star put it like that open gunfighter on the bottom and then a paper and you got your firework rocket with flight duration one a large ball and it’s magenta colored so um to increase the flight duration you can add one more gun powder and it will make it

Two or another gunpowder to make it three and that is the max it can do let’s just do one so we can get an up close look at it so when shot it makes those beautiful beautiful sounds and um it will just explode and as you can see it’s a large ball

Um if I were not to put a fire charge in my uh fireworks star um then it would just be a normal small ball so it’d be a little bit smaller than that but since it’s large looks cooler so um that’s awesome boom boom boom boom I

Love the sounds all right so we’re gonna move on and we’re gonna do next up we’re gonna do let’s see let’s do a gun powder here let’s see what color let’s do like let’s do line die this time and it works pretty much with any dye even like stuff

Like white and stuff I believe so yeah um bone meal even works so um but yeah we got gunpowder we’re gonna do lime green and then let’s see we’ll do a glowstone dust I’ll go ahead and show you the effects right now the glowstone dust will actually make the

Firework star twinkle a little bit so or make the you know firework twinkle and then um The Diamond well I believe make it a trace or trail trail not Trace um so it’ll have a little trail behind all the sparklies and then the head we’ll make a creeper shaped head and I believe

Oh I accidentally crafted I guess we’ll do that next and then the feather should be able to um let’s see what the feather the feather makes it bursty so um well actually we can go ahead and craft these now all right so that and then the gold

Nugget the gold nuggets the last one let’s see what it does oh I’m getting all mixed up here let’s do light blue and then a gold nugget and then the light blue will actually make it star-shaped so we got that let’s do the head let’s go ahead and craft these

Let’s do orange and then let’s do diamond here’s our last one um and let’s do blue and that will be our last one so we got all our Stars here we got um Diamond which will betrayal uh we got a star-shaped which was I actually forgot dang it okay I

Believe star shape was feather if not gold nugget I don’t know sorry guys I was there a second ago um twinkle was uh I believe glowstone dust and then we got uh lime creeper shaped was the mob head and uh a burst which I I think the burst was feather then uh

Star-shaped was gold nugget okay so yeah we got our stars now let’s craft our fireworks so we’re gonna do the firework thing again let’s just go ahead and throw all the papers in here and then and the gun powders and then we’re gonna just craft one at a time just one at a

Time with all our little balls a little ball things all right um I’m not gonna talk about that anymore all right let’s do that that and let’s see what is our last one right here we got orange and then we’ll throw that in there and these are all our we have more

Up here I don’t know why I put them up there all right and then we already got large balls I guess we can show it again why not all right so here we are here’s all our affected fireworks and okay so let’s see what this one is that was a star-shaped one so

Star-shaped light blue and boom okay so next up we got um oh that’s a regular one what’s that doing there okay um next up we got the large ball we already seen it and it looks amazing so let’s actually change it to night time now that I think about it look a lot

Better you can see it better all right so star large oh that was beautiful a large ball oh pretty and then a creeper-shaped face boom Oh that was cool and it was green too I didn’t even realize that it was a grain face cool I don’t I don’t think

That little burst of glow happened in um the snapshot honestly I don’t I don’t think that happened maybe it did maybe I just didn’t see it but that is a creeper face next up we got a um twinkle Trail and then burst so twinkle they have after effects sounds listen to them ready

Oh that’s that sounds awesome I love the sounds and then we got what is this burst no wait oh trail trail that’s what Diamond will do for you Trail those look cool boom boom boom ah so cool and then uh we got a burst so burst is the last

One and boom it’s just like a little spursed bursty I don’t know this burst is okay but anyways that is all of them let’s just do all of them boom boom boom boom boom boom ooh that’s cool I’m looking forward to playing some adventure maps with uh

Those kind of effects at the end just fireworks just blasting off because you won you beat the adventure map that sounds just amazing I can’t wait to do some stuff like that oh creeper faces all right guys so I almost forgot to mention that you can combine some of the

Effects uh the items that change the shape of the firework and the items that change the uh sort of effecty kind of feeling uh to the firework uh can be combined so say I wanted a gunpowder here we choose what color do we want let’s just do orange and then let’s say

I wanted a Let’s do let’s do large ball say I wanted a large Ball but I also wanted it to have a trail effect you can actually combine them and it will make it like that effect combo so if I do um let’s just make a firework here so as

You can see if I do this it will be a large Ball but it will also Trail so it looks quite nice I like that combo um and then if we go back over here we can do like a creeper overhead and let’s make it magenta so we got that but we

Can also add I don’t know glowstone dust and then make it twinkle but also make it creeper uh head shaped so let’s do that that and make our rocket and then we got a um creeper shaped magenta twinkle so we’re gonna launch it off and Bam

All right so basically those are the two main effects um diamond and glowstone dust and when combined with any of the shape changing ones um it will actually make a super awesome firework so um that is pretty much it for the fireworks all right so yeah I

Just I love this I love this update guys I’m so glad they added this in right before New Year’s um so happy New Years to all of you guys um if you’re gonna be celebrating it that is and um yeah it’ll be a Happy New Year’s for me so hopefully anyway so
