Hello everyone my name is pixel Reis and welcome back to the sky blocks Survival Guide I hope you guys are having a good day we’re back here in the sky block world which as you can see is a bit of a mess it’s a bit of a mixture of slabs And full blocks cobblestone and stone wood everywhere grass in some patches and some of this stuff is to be honest looking a little bit shabby so today I think we’re going to take a break from the progression of sky block to make the whole thing look a little bit nicer and For that we are gonna have to acquire a bit more material because my chest while they are full of other things like cobblestone don’t really have all that much else going on inside of here we do however have access to the full range of trees Gabe will take a limited amount of Dark oak and I would really love it if the wandering trader showed up one of these days but I do think I need to spend a bit more time hanging around here for him to show up instead of being down here at the bottom of the world with his distant cousins the villagers Who have served me very well up until this point and we now have a lot of iron that we can work with I’ve got a lot of emeralds and stuff that I can use to trade we can do a little bit of fun stuff and now that we have that stuff But I think before we continue with the progression of the game I want to spend a bit of time at making this place look a little bit more homey a lot nicer and ultimately in the spirit of what I think minecraft is which is a game about building now while we can’t necessarily Go out and get resources from the places around us we have a lot going for us here we’ve got the basic building blocks of stone and woods we can do a lot with those I don’t know if I want to do all that much with stuff like glass but we Do have a pretty easy supply of sand thanks to having a husk farm over there which I will probably end up converting into something else and if the wandering trader shows up then maybe we’ll be able to buy a few more fun blocks off of him Not to mention the fact that with all of this week we’re growing here we have access to things like hay bales we could even use melons and pumpkins if we want some kind of garish wallpaper for the most part though I think we’re probably going to be working with stone and wood Like you normally would when you were starting out in your Minecraft world so we’re gonna probably focus on a medieval building style to start off with it’s also worth noting that we are now able to trade silk touch axes from the weaponsmith of all people surprising that the weaponsmith are not the tool Smith is the one that gives me the silk touch nonetheless that means that we can silk touch blocks that do not require a specific tool in order to gather them like for example this grass block here I can now have a grass block that I can Move anywhere in the world and it is always possible to get grass blocks another way that is by making an Enderman spawn waiting for it to pick up a block of grass and then killing it but to be honest that’s a little bit of a Long shot when it comes to sky blocks so it’s kind of nice having sill touch tools so that we can take care of that we could also use it to move the beehives around if we wanted to and we can use it for a variety of other things As well but what that now means is I can take whatever dirt blocks I have hanging around which is apparently not many I think I’ve probably expanded a platform here and there maybe expanded this farm a little bit and we are now using all of that dirt to farm sugarcane in crops and That kind of stuff but with a little bit of extra dirt probably after running it through a composter somewhere we can create a new grass platform anywhere we want and that is gonna be where I will end up building my house and I feel like what we’ve done here is expand outwards A whole bunch but not really work with height all that much so I think maybe we’ll try and set up a little bit of a landscape over here that I can build a house on it’s gonna be away from the farms and stuff it’s gonna be away from Anything that needs direct sky access we don’t really have anything built down here right now so I think what I’m gonna do is set up a little house area over here the other thing I can do with silk touch tools is finally silk touch these melons so we’re getting a hundred Percent efficiency from the melons that I can farm from this spot over here and I think expanding the melon farm where the silk touch axe is going to be perfect because then I’ll be able to trade all of these melons to get a few more emeralds from the farmers right now Though I think we’re going to compost a bunch of the pumpkins that I have gathered to make ourselves a bit more dirt I’ve been making some using the gravel coaster method but I really think it’s gonna be better to have a composter to create a larger amount of dirt so Let’s make one of those real fast if I have the ingredients for that around here somewhere pumpkins will actually compost pretty effectively I think they have about a 70% chance of filling up a layer which means we’re only wasting a few as we go we can always grow a few More of those but we’ll get a bunch of dirt like this in the process I’ve also around here somewhere got some cocoa beans that I can use to turn wheat into cookies and I’m pretty sure cookies have a pretty good composting rate as well so let’s make a few of those you get Eight of them per recipe so that’s only eight per cow Coe bean a little bit of wheat which we are farming renewably over here and yeah those fill up the composter pretty well so that’s actually a pretty decent way of getting some nice easy dirt we do need to set up a cocoa Bean farm of sorts but we can do that over here on the jungle tree and you can bonemeal cocoa beans in order to grow them we got plenty of bones from the mob spawner so nice and easy to get a renewable source of cocoa beans without Having to set up any kind of automatic farm for them and with a stack of wheat and half a stack of cocoa beans I can make myself nearly four full stacks of cookies which is going to be perfect compost fodder right here so that I can Make a nice front lawn I think for the house over here and there we go more than half a stack of dirt later I think we are good to go on operation house so let me build up a little bit over here I’m gonna use some full blocks and some Slabs for this I like the idea of us having something that looks a bit like natural terrain but obviously with slabs in it which is kind of cool and I think will work in a few details here and there as we go but I think for a start It’s gonna be nice to build up a little platform over here that feels like a more natural slice of Minecraft yeah this is getting there this is not too bad I like the idea of having like a little stone causeway almost heading up to the house and nice to working a Little bit of cobblestone here and there but not have it be the primary building material like it is over on this platform of course we will need to make sure that we light this stuff up adequately I kind of want to make some lanterns now that we have access to Those with more abundant iron ingots so I’m going to break some of that down into iron nuggets making lanterns is going to be so nice in this world oh yes nice for a bit of atmosphere a lantern nice for a little lamp lit path as we Walk up towards the house and I think somewhere around here we are going to start making this into a grassy platform that will form the front lawn of this little house we’re building so with that we will expand the dirt out here I think I’ll probably pop a grass block there And then just surround it with dirt so that it can spread nice and easily will pop down a couple of torches so that it can spread at night if I leave it to go to night but I think what I’ll probably do now that the turtle eggs are grown And we no longer really need to work with night I’ll probably just keep skipping the night to make it day again also avoid any mobs spawning up in here when I haven’t lit it up fully quite yet then in the area that we want to build the house I think I’ll start placing Down a platform of fulstone blocks just as a decent foundation of course you could continue to do this in slabs if you want to but personally I like the luxury of building with full blocks after spending a while with slabs in survival slabs are gonna be safer but full blocks are really the Foundation of what we’re used to in Minecraft and so I think I’ll probably put down a few of those just because we’re decadent at this point we can afford to do it we’re gathering materials with efficiency tools at a higher rate than we ever used to before And hopefully at some point we’ll be able to expand the cobblestone generator a little bit or even get a silk touch book that I can put on this pickaxe and then be able to harvest pure stone instead of just cobblestone but cobblestone is of course still nice and Easy to smelt into smooth stone if we want it and I even have a couple of reserves of cobblestone and smooth stone in here that I can put to use if I need to and a major difference between building and Skyblock versus building in regular minecraft is that with Skyblock You don’t have the terrain to guide you you don’t really have any terrain to take inspiration from or think oh yeah I should just Nestle a house in the crag of this ravine or you know up on top of this hill or anything like that you always have to decide where the terrain Is going yourself so in this case we’re actually going to keep things relatively flat but I like the idea of building with a little bit of height in the house giving it a little bit of character maybe build up something that has a footprint of interlocking 5 by 5 or 7 by 7 squares and then build that up into a more eccentric layout for a house we’ve certainly got the materials to do it so why not but those materials still come with a price and the price of course in Skyblock is time we’re going to spend a bit of time off-camera gathering all of These materials up and when we come back I think we’ll start up a time-lapse and we’ll get this house built [Applause] [Applause] Hey folks welcome back I hope you enjoyed the time-lapse look at our house our lovely little sky vlog house I’m really happy with the way this came together kind of started off as one of those interlocking square designs but then thought now I’ll just kind of wing It freestyle a little bit and came up with this absolute blinder of a house I’m really enjoying it so far I think it’s great I think it’s got a couple of a residents already in the form of this sheep right here and hopefully no mobs hiding inside of here I did take every Every precaution I could to make sure that the interior of this at least is either lit up or slammed over to prevent mobs from spawning in here because the last thing we want is to open the door and have a creeper right in our faces having said that there are a couple of Nooks and crannies where we can hide some stuff away and I am hoping that we can at least get some storage in here to make it feel a little bit more homey but in the little section here we finally made a good use of one of those village Bells I turn this into a bit of a bell tower so I kind of like that as a idea each of the birch logs are there the stripped birch logs actually has a torch on top of it to make sure nothing is going to spawn up there and come Cascading down onto my head we got some leaves from the trees thanks to the shears that we had we even shared some vines so we can make some mossy cobblestone I think that really sets this thing off and I think I’ll probably bonemeal the grass here and there just So it can look a little bit more kind of pastoral maybe even have like a little pathway leading up to the door how about that yeah that’s kind of nice unfortunately I can’t put any gravel in here because as soon as they break one of those it disappears but I think maybe We’ll put a little bit of cobblestone in there or something like that one of the other things I wanted to highlight for you guys and this is something that you would probably never do in a regular world but it’s something we can do here in Skyblock to get these resources you Can combine cobblestone and quartz in a crafting interface 2×2 like that in order to get yourself some dye right and why are you getting diorite you might ask well because you can then combine diorite and cobble stone in a 2×2 and get yourself four blocks of andesite Isn’t that lovely we’re actually able to get andesite in this world even though it’s not going to naturally occur in the environment and the diorite andesite and granite often recipes are probably something you would never normally want to use however it’s kind of nice that we can implement Those in a little pathway here in our Skyblock world really just sets off the path there which i think is actually kind of lovely obviously if you want to get polished andesite you can use that and we’re definitely going to have to get a blaze farm set up in the nether at Some point so we can get ourselves a decent bunch of quartz unfortunately we don’t have any blaze spawner so we can’t do a farm like we did in the Survival Guide yesterday instead we’re gonna have to rely entirely on the spawning platforms for fortress mobs like wither skeletons and so forth and I Think we will be able to make a pretty great farmer in the near future but for now I think we’re probably going to focus on prettifying some of this and working on getting an iron farm probably in the next episode later this week and I was really hoping that building an Attractive house like this was going to magically summer the wandering trader you know like in Terraria if you’ve ever played terraria where once you build a house a merchant shows up is basically the idea as soon as you have enough room for NPCs to arrive they just kind of pop Into being and near your spawn point unfortunately minecraft doesn’t work that way and we’re not gonna get the wandering trader to show up if we just wish him into existence but yeah hopefully he will come along and I’ve left this dark oak sapling out here as a reminder to myself that dark oak Saplings are really what I want from the wandering trader we can also do a little bit more decoration if I want to place at one of the hay bales around the side here I’m actually gonna put this around maybe the back of the house they’re just Maybe we can build up like a little hay section or something like that once we have a little bit more wheat converted into hay bales that we could do a lot with this thing and of course the sky’s the limit literally I suppose in Skyblock when it Comes to what materials that you want to build with because if you want to do a little bit more sand and gravel farming you can make yourself a decent amount of concrete once you have access to die through either you know converting bone meal into white die or converting some Of the flowers that you found into the various colors have died that you can get through flower farming even characters now we’ve got it so if you wanted to make a concrete house if you wanted your Skyblock pad to be super modern then the materials are there You’ve just got to put the time in so over here in this chest is where I’ve been storing a bunch of the tools that I traded with the villagers including the emeralds and stuff and I think what I’m going to do is start to move some of This stuff into the house are these we’ll probably stay out here for the sake of utility and easy access but I like the idea of having a long-term storage in there for a bunch of the stuff that might potentially be useful in the near future if we want some Burner gear or just something that we can always rely on to be there if we lose our tools for whatever reason but I think it’s gonna be nice to get a couple of chests set up in there in the meantime let me swap that out for some Jungle wood jungle wood is actually not something I plan to build with all that much here in the Skyblock world so I think I will probably start using that as my utility wood and save some of the spruce wood we’ve been gathering for some building instead now we could do a Little bit of cozy interior design in here maybe give or take the Sheep I think the Sheep is probably going to be an almost permanent resident unless I lead it out of here but I think I’m actually going to savor this section here purely for utilitarian purposes and Storage so I think this is where we’re going to put each of our weapons and you know what I’m feeling decadent today like I said so I think we’ll probably categorize at the weapons and armor in two separate chests here we’ve got room for five chests so that’s five different Types of tools potentially so we’ve got swords in this chest over here we can have shovels in the next one axes in the next one because boy oh boy do I have a lot of those at this point I’m gonna keep one of the silk touch axes on me But I think I can probably put the unbreaking shovels in there as well the efficiency I’m breaking we can have pickaxes in one of these and then maybe hose or armor or something in the last one I think we’re probably gonna get a little bit less of those but I think the Villagers don’t actually trade me diamond hoes so I’m not gonna be able to get any of those unless we have a chance to sneak out to at the woodland mansion that is out here on this map somewhere maybe we’ll be able to track some of Those down as a loot but until then I think we could probably use that last chest for armor that seems like a much more sensible option to me just look at the amount of stone pickaxes I traded from the tool Smith the hood that’s a Lot of a lot of stone pickaxes I will probably never need to use again aside from that we’ve got some stone shovels we’ve got the iron shovel there and a singular stone hoe which can go in that chest for the forseeable I guess we could also use this a little closet here As a little bit of storage maybe for a bit of armor perhaps or something like that could go in there and I want to do a little bit more interior stuff on this in the near future but we might do that between episodes because it’s not exactly essential then again the house Itself isn’t exactly essentials not sure why I’m worried about that we’ve got some armor in here I guess we’ve got our luck of the sea fishing rod as well and that we could potentially imbue that with some more enchantments now that we have access to An anvil let’s see what we had in here yes luck of the situ on their luck of the c2 on there as well and despite the fact that blast protection for sounds like a sensible thing to put on some armor I kind of want to save it looting For this sword as we continue to buff the sword up so I think I might put the luck of the C from this book here instead on the fishing rod we will get rid of the knock-back and blast protection enchantment and hopefully fish up something like that or trade it From a villager but luck of the ce3 we are likely to land a few more enchanted books with that we’ve even got a few axes in here and I’m tempted to leave those there just so we have access to them by the tree farm but considering we Have diamond axes at our disposal as well I think those are probably better off going inside the house as emergency backup iron tools I’m actually gonna put a bit of a hallway in here I’m thinking interior design now and I kind of like the idea of having a space at the end Here with maybe a little table or something like that we could put an armor stand here or something like that just as though it’s watching the door and guarding the place and then have a right turn into our storage area a left turn into this area which feels more Like a living area to me this feels like it should be a pantry and oh gosh now I now I have hung the door the wrong way around and I’m probably gonna put it back there again there we go now that’s opening against that it feels Like it makes a lot more sense but yeah this feels like a living area sort of kitchen dining area kind of thing if we want to figure out the layout of this and then upstairs I think I might actually put a sort of switchback staircase in here instead of having the Staircase inside here perhaps a ladder up from the living quarters or something like that might make sense but upstairs we could have a bedroom we could even have an attic space if we want extra space for storage that kind of thing we can really think about that later though I think it’s just kind of fun to lay that stuff out while we have the opportunity and I also think having something underneath here is going to make a bit of sense not like a basement for the house but to build this up so it feels a little bit more solid like a Floating island instead of just a floating platform I’m not gonna do that today because I’m running a little short on time but I think all we need to do is just get the bucket of water pull that over the side and dangle ourselves underneath there placing a few blocks as We go maybe set up a temporary platform underneath there and then take it away once we’re done we’ll end up being able to build up a an island that kind of tapers to a point the way VC sort of fantasy style floating islands – a little bit like Almost like the vines are doing on that oak island over there I think that would be kind of fun and actually fairly straightforward to do as long as you are careful balancing yourself in a water stream as you head down and I think we have a crow finiti on this we don’t have A respiration well if I can get a respiration helmet or maybe use my turtle shell helmet for water breathing then I stand a little bit less of a chance of drowning I think it’s finally time to clear up these are three chests in the central section here as well I Feel like doing a little bit of housekeeping we’ve actually got a house to keep and I think some of these can’t just be broken into and placed in some of these other chests over here we’ve got some gravel in there that should clearly go in this Chest to begin with I think I’ll put the wool in here next to some of the other more organic feeling stuff we’ve got four different colors of wool thanks to the sheep that have spawned and we can always dye a few of those if we want to I was considering at making sections of this house out of wool but then I realized that these sheep don’t have the opportunity to regrow their wool where they are right now so I think I’ll probably save that for another time likewise I think the leather can go in Here it feels like a passive mob drop that sort of makes sense we’ve got a ton of pumpkins in there which I can place in this chest ready to be composted or sold to a willing village elf at the bone meal and stuff away in there as Well and the soul sand I’m gonna put it in here with the sand and the coarse dirt because those feel like building blocks but they’re also a utility to a certain extent yeah this is all miscellaneous stuff as well people take the coal which i think is going to be Kind of important for the future for trading or building cold blocks or something like that look at this chest here as well this is all full of random stuff as well let’s try and consolidate a little bit of this at while we have the opportunity to I even got my Original wooden tools here a wooden pickaxe and a wooden axe which I sort of keep every time I play Minecraft as almost keepsakes like the first tools you make sort of feel symbolic in a way of you getting started in a world but those I guess we can consign to the last Spot in each of these chests just so that they’re kept in there for posterity and I feel like we can start to store a little bit of the food that we’ve got in here as almost like a pantry sort of area I guess once again I’ll put the Pumpkin back in the farm chest but we got some raw chicken some cooked meat in there as well as you probably separate those out for food hygiene reasons but tempting though it is to move the bed into the house right now I think for now I’m a little bit more comfortable Sleeping under the stars and I have tried my best to light up the roof of that house as much as possible but I can definitely see there are a couple of places up there where if I let it get to nighttime mobs could potentially spawn so that is the risk of building Something a little bit more complex in Skyblock is that you end up creating spawnable spaces for mobs so just be aware of that and make sure you light up your builds to the best of your ability conceal the lighting if you can of course because it’s always nicer if you Don’t have to look at it with a torch spam all over the roof or something like that and I’ve tried to hide some torches in amongst the leaves there where I can but I will definitely add a lantern or something to the top of the bell tower There just to make sure that nothing is going to spawn up there if I spend a little bit too much time away last of all this chest here is mainly other food supplies once again we have like sticks and stuff in here and miscellaneous things which are already stored Elsewhere so I will break that down we’ll get all of the food and stuff out of there and oh wow doesn’t that feel a little bit better those chests have been there since like episode 1 so it certainly feels like we’re getting a bit more organized when we move some of this Stuff around that’s but the sugar cane in there let’s put some of the mushrooms away it with the potion brewing supplies leather and feathers can go in there together I might even leave some eggs there so we could do an automatic chicken cooker later on and how about The honeycomb as well let’s leave the honeycomb in there I’ve got a puff of fish in there that I guess I fished up nice and early that we can always add to the puffer fish in there and then the rest of this food and stuff can all Either go in the agricultural chest over here in the case of the wheat and maybe the apples and then the rest of this meat can all go into the house for if we want to cook up a nice steak dinner I’m gonna keep this little smelting station Here for now along with a few other supplies and that one see pickle that we still need to be able to place on Coral in order to bone meal they’re a couple of different ways of getting coral still kind of waiting on the wondering trader To show up but now at least I feel a little bit more organized and I hope you guys are a little happier with the layout I am super happy with the house and I can’t believe we’ve built ourselves a house with a lovely lamp lit path in sky Block is starting to feel like home already and I hope you guys enjoyed this episode of the skyblock survival guide my name is Ben Pixar’s don’t forget to leave a like on the episode if you enjoyed it subscribe if you want to see more and I’ll see you guys soon take Care bye for now
