Welcome back my friends there is going to be a minecraft the 1.18.1 and we are looking at the first pre-release now this should be of no surprise because once the development cycle is over far more people jump on and start playing the game and that means that far more bugs and issues are Going to be found now this pre-release came out on a friday which is right before the weekend where lots more people are going to start playing this update and i think mojang still have one or two weeks before the christmas break so i wouldn’t be surprised if this first Pre-release is just a small one and over the next week we’ll see a few more maybe with even more bugs and issues tweaks and changes but this first free release is a relatively small one however it does have one change inside of it that is Kind of a really big deal and that is the game fog there are adjustments made to this feature so we’re gonna have to investigate it but first of all we’re just gonna blitz through the bugs and minor changes so bug fix number one if you had a beacon where the beacon base Went over a chunk border it would cause the beacon to forget what status it had after a reload so if you were to change it to something different log out of your world and back in it would have forgotten you changed it this next one relates to observers that have been Created with a clone command they would simply randomly pulse three times every now and then in your world which is not how an observer should behave and last of all if you are playing on a server most notably realms it seems that setting your render distance wouldn’t be Respected so players were logging in and having a low render distance despite setting a higher one and i believe this is why bedrock edition is already on 1.18.1 as that fix has been introduced for realms and if you’re on java you’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer And last of all here on the website you can see that there was an issue for players that had low bandwidth connections getting timeout errors when connecting to servers and that’s all of the smaller things taken care of and now we’re going to investigate the world fog which definitely feels different let me Say that so according to the website world fog now starts further away from the player to make the distant terrain more visible obviously we’re going to need a side by side comparison here the second note is that instead of applying fog as a spherical volume it’s now Applied as a cylindrical volume and a cylinder has a top and a bottom and that is actually like a really good demonstration of how the fog is sort of removing what we can see and it’s level at the bottom and if you focus down into This area you can kind of see the edge of that cylinder as i sort of move in and out you can see how there’s like two different edges of the of the fog there’s the up and down and then there’s the cylinder around us so here’s our Side by side comparison and notice how the clouds are being rendered different on the right than the left so let’s go and turn those off and now we have a much clearer comparison and obviously on the left you can see way more so if we Focus on the right for a moment you can really feel that spherical difference right there there’s just much less terrain that’s visible and now on the left hand side i’ve moved the camera to the same position and you just see so much more of the terrain now i also Picked amplified terrain as well as i thought it was a really good example for seeing like large terrain that gets affected by this fog and my render distance is kind of low if we go and turn this up we would in this version then see a lot More but obviously off in the distance it’s still affected so now both of the games have render distance 20 and even though you see a lot more of the terrain it still makes a difference on the left-hand side which is pre-release one now there is one thing i can say about This is that when chunks are slow to load sometimes that fog kind of hides that a little bit whereas now it’s much more obvious but overall i think more visibility is uh is a good thing and now you can see me so i’m wondering what all Of you think about these changes be sure to let me know with a comment below and if you’ve been wondering where the best place to find diamonds is in 1.18 i’ve made a video about this and i also made one about the vanilla tweaks update for Minecraft 1.18 2. and so both of those videos are cards on your screen that you can click if you want to check them out that’s it from me though so leave a like to support the video thanks as always and i’ll see you in the next one bye Video Information
