Welcome to them is just I’ve Alan and this is thermal expansion I’m going to be covering today quite a bit about things that people overlook and might find extremely useful especially when starting out with this mod so to start off with we’re going to begin with Armors now I realize that there are a lot of armors in you know most mods but this mod when you when you type in armor I mean ignore the top half it adds in a lot of different material types and it’s difficult to tell what is actually going to be beneficial Most often I’m finding that it’s going to be whatever you find the most material of but of course there are those that might find this useful now if I have included vanilla armors in this list real quick I’m just going to walk down it so you can see the stats and Also you can make different items out of some of the materials you know for instance here’s copper a block plus you can make like a hardened glass that’s blast resistant and may change colors and stuff but as you go down some of them may not have glass variants other Ones may not have ores because they are alloys and might require multiple metals together to make them but that’s not what I’m going to be covering I’m going to be covering the armors in this beginning set up then we’re going to go around to all these other really cool And interesting items so to start with of course you’ve got your vanilla armor of Minecraft at seven armor total now this is all the pieces together so if I move on to the the next available thing it’s going to be copper which is a relatively cheap and you know higher up In the you know when you’re digging out stuff not up in these high reaches above the clouds of course but tin armor at plus nine aluminum at ten silver at eleven gold at eleven as well now some of these the durability –zz maybe better than others but I’m kind of Grouping them together by the total armor coverage that they’re going to give you constant tannin electrum are both alloys and will require multiple different metals in order to make them but they have better armor coverage than the previous moving on it’s equal to about chain Armour lead nickel Both have 14 Armour and you probably will find them somewhat more common maybe not as common as iron though which is of course 15 and vanilla now moving on we of course just showing off this is in theory aluminum and signal in classes they don’t have your your ores in the World but you may find their hardened glass equivalents pretty now moving on we’ve got bronze invar and steel plus of course platinum these all add a toughness that the vanilla diamond armor does as well and are probably going to be the the ones that you’re really going To want to go for bronze invar and steel are the easier ones I would say probably bronze or invar going to be the easiest ones to come across and they’re very similar to the steel and platinum that you may later on come across platinum of course is going to be the best it’s Going to be the equivalent of diamond it is in fact also going to have better durability to diamonds because it’s a much more durable material but there you go that’s pretty much it I mean just to give you an idea of the different things that you might be able to come across And probably lead and nickel if not iron are going to be your easier ones to come across but often lead is your first in jump into this mod and so therefore that that material is a little bit less likely to be used and therefore you’ll probably just want to jump straight into Something a little bit nice or like bronze or in bar but anyway moving on we have other things like a sickle a sickle here I have a platinum one will actually destroy vegetation in like a seven block radius so if I grab some bone meal for Example plop this down on the ground and I use this sickle it will destroy those items in there now of course I’m in creative mode so allow me to not die on the magma there out that kind of hurt but put down some of this and then I can Actually harvest these items let me just shift instead of walking over that and it will destroy in an area and I can harvest those items there now if I am Harvey three leaves it actually will do it in a sliver to give an example it will cut in This area so if I’m harvesting a tree it won’t actually take a big chunk out of the tree it will just cover a slice depending on where you harvest it so in this case I’ve got a seven block radius so one two three four and it’s three out From there as well so in the center block being the odd one harvest that and all of them are taken out real quick and easy now another item that is brought into this mod is going to be a hammer which those that are familiar with tinkers construct are going to be Familiar with a hammer extremely slow to swing as a weapon but it does have some decent weapon in comparison all right some decent damage in comparison now if I – area you’ll see that I destroy the regular blocks and I got the diamond of course I am using a platinum hammer After all but it didn’t touch the dirt now I can harvest the dirt still but it will only mine a single block and of course I can mine the obsidian it will just take some time and there we go you can see it harvested it and of course it Took out some of the stone below so I’m just going to make myself a little bit of a trough to step on there we go and you probably hear in the background a little bit of noise well that’s because I’ve got these guys back here These are some of the mobs that you will find adding in thermal expansion which of course comes with several other requirement mods included and that’s going to be to start with a Blizz which they all come in packs of one to four they all drop rods by the same names as they are Blizz blitz and bass halls they will drop rods by those names as well which you can use later on for different ingredients in this mod but a Blizz you’ll find in snowy biomes a blitz you’ll find in plains and sandy biomes and base halls you’ll find in mountainous and wasteland biomes each One will have different ranged attacks and effects upon hitting you like weakness or slowness etc and can be beneficial specifically for their drops but they’ll also drop other things like this guy will sometimes drop up city and dust as well this one here will drop Schneider and this one here will drop well Ten yes the snowballs but anyway you get the idea there so something else that is going to be really cool is satchels these here I’m sure your guys are familiar with all sorts of backpacks and all sorts of mods these ones are a little bit different than the ones you Might be used to and they’re much much simpler actually so I take a basic satchel which the recipe on this is really really basic I should show that the hammer is just like a few ingots around some sticks and the sickle is just like three ingots around a stick That those ones are basic but the satchel recipe here this is the most entry-level one this is your basic natural fuel effort leather a couple of ingots and some wool will get you eight basic satchel and you open it up you’re like okay that it’s not impressive but It is expandable and it’s required in order to upgrade so for instance if I grab a hardened satchel and I look at the recipe for that it requires the basic one and all of these items around it invar and ten and so on so therefore you will have to upgrade them reinforced Signal them in resonant when you get to the highest level one up here you open it up and look that’s that’s a lot more space it’s rather expensive to make this one because you’ve got to make some really difficult alloys for beginning level but if you look here I have a Basic satchel that’s kind of glowing and if I click it it has as much space as that resonant satchel did the reason being is that it has been expanded with an enchantment called holding which I will cover in just a moment but know this you can see the inside ingredients See here I’ve got that holding an enchantment here which this mod does add in if I go into my crafting table here and I take this satchel and I decide to upgrade it into let’s say here we go a hardened version we’re going to move all the ingredients over and you’ll notice It actually keeps all of its ingredients as well so you only need to start off with the first one and as you progress you can upgrade it to a better one then you open it up and you’ll have all the same ingredients plus look at that I got another Level in there then you can always upgrade that further to the next level next level next level and just keep on making it bigger bigger and bigger of a backpack as you progress with your technology so you’re probably wondering about that holding enchantment is it any good on anything besides a satchel yes Yes it is it’s good on strangely technology a magic enchantment is good on technology it’s not the first time it’s been done but it is a relatively unique in how it’s being executed so for instance I have an energy cell the recipe of which you know it is fairly Basic but in order to expand that you notice how with the backpacks we had basic hardened reinforced signal and resident a lot of the machines in this in the past have been following a similar pattern some of the things still do but in this case it doesn’t you have One energy cell and how does it get enhanced well it can it can carry more RF total and by doing so of course you can use it in other applications but in this case if you give it a holding enchantment for instance it’s on holding For it now will store 6 million RF as opposed to its current two million RF so each additional level of holding will increase its RF storage capacity now something else will be a portable tank same thing this one will hold 20 buckets of material now if I look that up on the Enchantment holding 2 3 4 week it can hold 60 buckets in the end if you get a maximum level holding on there which I think it just takes a few levels and you toss one of these things in a crafting table and you should be good to go now I Am not in there we go I’m now in creative mode so if I go in here and I enchant this cache which those that do not know what a cache is it is similar to a barrel or a drawer that just stores one item and can be locked so let me Open this up access my enchantment table here and because I’m in creative I can choose all sorts of things you can see here holding level 2 at around 7 tene if I had less books in this area or I had something that was kind of blocking this let’s put down some some Dirt here that’s probably going to help block some of the enchantment level put down a little bit more put that in there we go holding one so just a few levels and you can already increase the capacity on this guy right now it’s going to store what 20,000 yes 20,000 and if I look up the use for this it can then get oh that’s cursive vanishing we don’t want that holding for up to 60,000 if we get holding one it will just it’ll add 10,000 items can be stored more in this just from a few Levels on your enchantment table as an example now of course there are other things that you can still expand the inventories of and that would be a strongbox which is a lockable item in the past and of course the flux capacitor which is going to be covered In a little bit but it’s basically a portable battery and you can enhance the amount that it can carry but it also follows this rule of basic hardened reinforcing the resonant with the flux capacitor so it can have those plus be enhanced with the holding enchantment which is really really good and if That’s the only enchantment something will accept well then you’d you’re pretty much guaranteed to get that on the enchantment table so I highly recommend you don’t forget about that it’s really important to help you out early game if not late game with a lot of you know magic enhance enhancements On your technology now there’s something else Rock wool and wool you’ll notice there’s a huge difference here between rock wool and will light blue like to the right okay yeah that they’re actually the same exact texture it there’s nothing different but the it’s made first and foremost in a different Manner you can smelt slag which is a byproduct from other you know functions of machinery used in this mod and it will get you light gray rock wool now then you can you know smelted a redstone furnace if you want or on a regular furnace it doesn’t matter get you like ray grey Rock wool and with that you can then add in the dye of your choice and get different colors you can you know just add in some orange dye and you’ll get some orange rock wool and it’s identical to rock well the only difference is you’ll need a pickaxe to harvest it if You notice here it says pickaxe iron and no tool for the regular vanilla wool so that’s one of the difference that I said the only difference there there’s actually two actually three since the recipe is different as well and that is that well they they burn a little Differently now I’m going to regret this because everything is going to catch on fire but you can see here that that the wool is going up right quick and in a hurry I’m going to I’m going to try and protect the wood over here because that’s that’s the next part but the rock Wool is being untouched the reason for that bye-bye tree it was nice knowing ya I’m just going to break you so then you go away and you leaves disappear a step I don’t want you burning up all the stuff but anyway you see the idea here That the rock wool is impervious to fire it is actually rocks so it may look and act like you know your vanilla wool but it’s much safer and no longer will you need to worry about your base if it’s carpeted with rock wool going up in flames because you’ve got that one piece Of lava or the fireplace actually has a fire in it yeah you don’t have to worry about that anymore at least not with the rock wall now there are other items over here let me place down a temporary floor so I can get to it without falling the Crescent hammer is the next one here and the crescent hammer most of you already know what it can do and that’s primarily using it on machines to pick them up quickly or something but it’s also something else first let me grab this glass here I’m going to Put two of them down I’m going to change back into regular survival mode and then I’m going to try picking up this and it says here no too hard and platinum glass right well I have a platinum pickaxe so I should be able to pick it up I broke It does not have silk touch on it if it had silk touch on it I bailed pick that up but it did not your crescent hammer if you shift and right click will pick it up without any problem so any of your hardened glass types can be picked up with a crescent Hammer + crescent hammer can’t move slabs around relief deities so when you accidentally placed that slab you should just grab your crescent hammer it’s so good Bloods it’ll rotate blocks in any way shape or form that you want that can be rotated and you can rotate you know Your machines even foreign machines I mean this is actually additions powered furnace here that I just moved around this is vanilla furnace this is your you know thermal expansion stuff it’s really good so don’t underestimate the power of this I’m sure many of you have had this In your hand though and you walk up to open a chest you go Oh crud I just rotated it wrong well it it doesn’t just rotate remember it lifts and drops as well as allows you to pick up glass hardened glass that is at least from This mod now something else we have over here often is pronounced a couple different ways one is a multimeter the other is a multimeter it all depends on what area you come from but with this device you can therefore use it to identify things if you shift right click It’ll tell you the energy in a block it will also tell you information about a cache you know what is in it and so on it also works on power ducts and lets you know if there’s a residue or residual amount of energy in it so if you’re wondering how come this didn’t Get the power that I had is there something in the power that’s going through this might also help you out with that among other things it does work in a similar manner to my current identifiers up there in the top left that says cache basic thermal expansion X pick X that is the one probe which is similar to whele but this here will act in a similar fashion but often give you a little bit more information that perhaps those programs might not and of course we have here a signal M security lock the recipe for this one here is Very simple it’s basically that signal m- bronzing it and you get one of these things and how does it work in the past it’s been used to lock a lot of things like machines everything like that at the moment and so it’s pretty much only working with Satchels but it may be expanded back to work with other things but how it works currently is let me grab both of these items both the lock and a this one just happens to be a signal satchel it doesn’t really matter which satchel but you can take this and Your satchel put them together and you get yourself a satchel signal that has been locked per se now if I open this up I click on it it says this item now belongs to you the first person to try accessing it or right-clicking your item After having a lock added to it is going to be the owner so then when you open it up you’ll see it has your owner Valon cross River I open it up and you have options it’s it’s always default set to public access now you can also Set it to restricted and you can set it to owner only which means only I could open it so if I gave this back to someone else no one else could open it they could probably destroy it but they could not open the bag now if I go with Restricted it’s like well how do I restrict it so that only some people will work well this command here now give or take I’m going to actually type it in so you can see see ofh friend and then you can either add someone or remove them and then their name and in This case I’m going to put Koshka I add it here Koshka successfully added to your friends list and to give an example I’m going to change it to remove and she’s been removed from the friends list so therefore that is how you put someone on your restricted list so that you can Have them gaining access to your locked materials and this should work with other items as well once the locks have been you know reassigned to other things like machines and whatnot going forward and here we have the red print which can be useful not always what everybody Thinks it can do now in this case red print remember that red think redstone that’s pretty much what it’s going to help you remember on different machine the state of redstone so it’s kind of a time-saver once you’ve made it once you can then use it many times you’ll Probably want to put it in a tool bag and forget about it forever but to give an example this one here redstone control is currently set to high if I go into this machine it’s set to ignored ignored and so on each one of these is currently set to ignored so if I want to copy paste right now it’s set to nothing so use its blank it says if I want to I can shift right click and then it will actually say that it’s got information hold shift down here to use while sneaking used on a device transfer start setting signal enable high so Therefore it has currently remembered that it is on redstone high now I just right-click and it will change every one of these machines to high just like that so therefore you don’t have to go in open up your redstone control click the button or anything like that it’s just a little tiny time-saver It can be useful especially when you’re doing a whole lot of machines or you’ve got a lot of them you want to keep it the same state you don’t remember so that can be used one if you want to clear it again you just shift right-click in the air and it gets blank Just like that now flux capacitors selects capacitors these things are wonderful they’re not just for going back to the future we have multiples I have one here the recipe of which is going to be some letting it’s copying its redstone and some sulfur dust which isn’t too bad to Start off but it is a portable battery and will charge items that require a charge in your inventory now when you get up to a higher level one this one here is a top level without getting into creative this one here of course under iam redstone and the previous level of Flux capacitor so you’re going to have to upgrade these things and don’t forget these things can also take the holding enchantment and increase their capacity as well and all they do is basically increase the capacity and how fast they can transfer RF or power storage in them In this case you can see send/receive twelve thousand five hundred fifty thousand and in this case this one is five hundred and two thousand so it’s not going to send or Cerf very quickly but it can hold 1 million RF this one can hold 25 and neither of those have been enchanted how Do they work well if I have one that has power you notice this one it’s got a red bar it’s been charged up already if I and this one here has black bar so it has no power in it right now so it’s 0 Out of 1 million RF this one has 25 out of 25 now if I shift right click it will then start transferring its power into anything that can accept it on my hotbar now of course I may have to click a few times there because it took me a moment I had the flux capacitor basic one set to not receive but if you just shift click you should be able to get through the settings on it so that it will start charging things that are on your hotbar if I take this guy here you see it’s Charging off of my hot bar it stops I put it back on it resumes so therefore as it says here it must remain in the hot bar and 1 million has been transferred over you can see if there’s a little tiny bit of a black space on This one now and it has since charged things now just to show it does not it’s not just this smog but you can see that it is currently charging this drill as well from actually additions which is a completely separate mod so as long as it can accept RF energy it should be Compatible in most situations and therefore allow you to charge your power tools or items on the go just a quick side note those glass things that I was showing you earlier the hardened glass which of course is somewhat blast resistant everything you can use those to also color your beacons I have some Signal among there already and I’m just going to grab some indium glass and show you that if I shift click on there it changes the beam so you can use each of those different hardened glasses to also change the color of a beacon just just a Little side note and last but not least one of the most handiest tools that you never know that you need it and that’s going to be the forge lexicon recipe for this lapis iron redstone and gold gets you this book now this book it’s a little confusing at first it’s like well Why do I need this book this book here it’s ok so it’s a directory right I could type in here and look up ingot and you’ll see all the different ingot you know and you can scroll through it’s like a Nerium okay that’s that’s really Nice it what the heck what good is this Vail and this is just showing you all the different ores that are currently available in the mod pack that you are currently playing I put together a very short mod pack for this that of course has actually editions it also has the Immersive engineering in it which might have some material overlaps to give an example if I look up ingot and I look up copper ingots I’ve got one here I also may happen to have a copying it here one brought in by immersive engineering and one brought in by thermal foundation oh Well that could cause some compatibility issues when you’re trying to make certain tools or weapons or even armors and you’ve got the wrong kind of material well this here is kind of a transformative book it’s also a tool if I press the letter V which is currently Key bound to it you might want to have to check your key bindings in case you have some key conflicts you’ll hear lightning or thunder in the background then when I reopen it you’ll notice that there’s a difference interesting so let me grab some copper Ingots I’m going to put these in here on the left and it says here I could turn them into two different kinds now it already is that so it’s not going to let me do it but I could turn this also into thermal foundation copper there we go Now I don’t have anymore conflicts all this is is an or Dictionary transformation tool anything that might have a similar ID in there you might be able to use this to transfer one type of item into another without much issue at all and then if you need to get back Just to see what things are currently conflicting or of similar value you can look them up in here I mean looking at block you can look up aluminum and there are a couple different aluminum ingots yes there are look at that there’s one from thermal foundation and one from an Immersive engineering and there you go I hope that wasn’t too bad for you guys I know it wasn’t quite what everybody usually would expect on some kind of mod spotlight but I like covering the stuff that is little-known sometime and some times can be very very useful So if you enjoyed this video don’t be afraid to give a like comment subscribe and as always for the metric to others think
