Jr here and welcome back to minecraft i’ve been waiting so long to say those words but now that minecraft 1.18 is now here the caves and cliffs part two edition is out and uh we’re gonna jump in and play some more minecraft super excited especially for the caves uh they

Look tremendous so in fact this particular series is going to be focused on living underground we’re going to call it the cave life in fact so why don’t we just get started instead of me yakking at you we’re going to jump in and get rolling we’re going to call it

The cave life and we are playing on hard court difficulty because that’s the way we do it here so we have one life to live we’re gonna take more damage from the mobs we have to eat um and if we don’t eat we can die of starvation and we’re gonna live underground 100

And let’s use this as the seed the cave life so if you want to follow along there you go and everything else looks good just going to go with the default game rules um i don’t have a data pack or resource pack actually i do have a resource pack it’s just uh

Vanilla tweaks and i’ll show you what that does it’s just some quality of life stuff nothing too drastic yeah this is gonna be pretty much a vanilla survival experience underground in a sort of 404 challenge style and i’ll explain the whole thing once we get started so without further ado let’s do

Great new world so excited to see the new world generation and live in a cave like a caveman ooga All right here we are let’s let it all soak in we’re in a lovely birch forest minecraft 1.18 on top of a tree and it is glorious all right let’s get started we don’t have much time here this is a challenge and the way this works is we have 10 minutes to collect

Resources on the surface and then we need to jump into a hole and go underground as far down as we can and then survive underground and that’s uh where our cave life begins forever and ever well at least until we end and i don’t know what our ending condition

Will be we’ll have some kind of victory condition and i’ll let you know what that is when i think of what not really sure yet but that’s how this works and if you want to see how i have done this in the past i’ll put a link down below in the

Description there will be a playlist and you can check out the old 404 challenges and the other hardcore playthroughs etc etc it’s all going to be down there um so i’m going to be focused on doing all this really really quickly because like i said we don’t have much

Time 10 minutes and then we’re gonna get underground um so let’s go so what do we need what do we need we need pretty much everything um we are going to bring some peonies down we get our pink dye in the name of the pink sheep clan right

Let’s grab all the peonies because i don’t think we’re gonna find any peonies underground once we get down there so we’ll snatch them all up and look that’s mine saw first and let’s kill some piggy wiggies in fact why don’t we uh you better run he came right towards us did

You not hear what i said i said let’s kill some piggy wiggies uh silly all right let’s pick that up waste not want not and we’re gonna have to get a bunch of food to bring down with us for the trip down and also oh bees uh we’re gonna need we’re gonna

Need we’re gonna need a lot of a lot more wood um although we can actually make wood down in in the caves if we find a lush cavern in particular we can grow azalea trees endlessly because they do grow down there and they do give you wood

Um the trees do anyway we’re gonna find little bushes down there and if you grow them into trees with some bone meal then they basically like turn into oak trees so that’s pretty cool but i don’t think they drop regular saplings so we’re gonna have to bring some saplings down

With us especially these oak these birch saplings because if we grow a birch tree next to an azalea flowering azalea as far as i know we might be able to get a beehive naturally generated on the birch tree and that would be amazing if we could

Bring some some bees down with us have some bees down there maybe get some honey that would be awesome all right let’s get some food for the trip down there’s a piggy wiggy grab a little bit of food and then we’ll go oh there’s a sapling saplings happening

Let’s grab it i don’t have time to wait there’s one sapling did i see another one yeah yeah there we go okay i think three is going to do it hopefully we get lucky with these three and we’ll get more from them now we got a boogie so let’s go

Let’s go east yeah we will go east and look for we’re looking for an azalea tree in fact because that would indicate that you are above a lush cave and that’s where we want to live in a lush cave because the lush caves are luscious and delicious and they have glowberries

On vines and the glowberries are edible and they also provide light i think like light 14 as much as a torch so that’s going to be fantastic for having some lighting right off the bat because we can place those anywhere they grow it just like regular vines

But with berries on them that you can eat and also light up uh the caves with so that’s pretty fantastic all right so we now have some food we have wood we have saplings um we need a few more things then we can look for a hole to jump into for some

Grand adventure we can get on with our cave life but first i want to go grab this uh this sugar cane right here because that’s going to be good underground can’t really find sugarcane underground and this will satisfy our sweet tooth now we don’t need sand because we can

Get sand in a lush cave assuming we can find a lush cave i’m hoping anyway so keep your eyes open for azalea trees i i haven’t really let’s go get some mushrooms so red mushrooms here and brown mushrooms we’ll be able to make some stew

And have like a food source on the way underground right because otherwise we’ll have to eat raw meat and that’s pretty disgusting this we can eat raw you don’t have to cook it and we don’t really have time to cook our meat oh my axe is broke dang it all right we’ll

Whip up another one here in a second we’re gonna get some stone that’s 16 red mushrooms that’s quite a good number i think oh we got uh we’ve got some pumpkins here we should grab them because you can’t get them anywhere else at least underground you can’t

Now let’s grab some stone there’s a bunch of stone down there tank nevitt all right you know what let’s just use the sword on these we only need a couple so we can at least get a harvest going and then we can just keep growing more that’s good enough

There’s some stone some copper don’t really need the copper yet we’re gonna find plenty of copper underground um where’s all the stone at oh azalea guys this is amazing we are above a lush cavern that’s exactly where we want to live fantastic what are some brown mushrooms

Over there things are looking good but we need stone where’s all the stone at can we uh oh we can’t use that um let’s go here we go oh and surface coal iron iron iron and we want that right now welcome to the stone age uh let’s go ahead and make a stone

A pickaxe so we can get that iran oh yeah we got two bits it’s all we need we really only need one um so we can make a shield let’s make a shield right now that’s gonna be glorious all right we’re gonna have to make a furnace and we’ll whip up a bunch

Of stone tools and the uh the shield is gonna help us survive on our trip down because it’s gonna be dark and scary and we’re gonna get shot at and bit and blown up and a shield will help us survive no doubt about it no bout to doubt it it’s my favorite

Thing in the world all right uh we only need one really so let’s cook up that old pickaxe and while that’s cooking let’s go ahead and make an axe a new axe and a sword yeah we should make a sword uh we don’t have enough iron for an iron sword

That would be ideal but there we go my friends we can now make a shield and we’re going to need some more wood i think oh get in there yeah yeah boy check it out woohoo all right now let’s pick this stuff up and let’s boogie we’re doing great here guys great

Okay now we need some coal some surface coal would be fantastic there’s got to be some around here somewhere because once we get underground there it is once we go all the way down um to the lowest levels which is like 64 negative 64 now

We will not find coal down there i don’t think there’s any coal after zero because it’s a whole new oh what’s that hello oh hi it’s a whole new generation system now and coal cannot be got that far down another hole here great all right oh how much coal do we get we

Got five that’ll give us at least a decent start but we’re gonna need more um in fact why don’t we just make a couple of torches for the ride down it’s gonna get very very dark and now let’s go get uh let’s go get some brown mushrooms and then we can

Whip off some stew and we’ll have some food for the ride down as well we don’t have time to cook up our meat this is so nice all these loose mushrooms man oh man we are doing amazing and we still have some daylight let’s go over here and snatch up

Some puppies and some daisies so we can add some color down there yeah we can make some dyes with that very good um and what else do we need while we’re here maybe some of the soil now i don’t have a shovel so we’re just gonna have

To dig it up with our sugar cane just a little tiny bit for the ride down for building purposes that’s of course dirt it’s ugly but it’ll do the trick oh berries berries are good we can eat those raw too just watch out try not to get poked all right i think um

Oh did i miss one no well they grow fast i wish we could grab these but i don’t have uh we don’t have shears so we’re gonna have to uh we’re gonna have to leave those bushes behind all right now let’s go let’s go back to where that azalea was which

Uh got kind of turned around but i think it’s over in this direction what is this then oh geez i’m hungry yeah we gotta eat we gotta eat let’s make up some bowls and we’ll make up some stew and we can do that right here right now

Very very easy we got plenty of shrooms we’ll make four oh nope and heat up it is getting dark we gotta go we gotta find a hole to jump into i didn’t see any good holes out there i have not seen any good holes unfortunately i was hoping for one big deep hole

That we can just go all the way down but i didn’t see that anywhere okay that azalea tree was over here and there was a pretty decent hole like right here oh oh oh here skellington’s already jeez not today buddy wow that was fast oh two of them bones

Are gonna be great though we’re gonna need them bones and i’ll tell you why as soon as they feel this bum wow okay now we gotta go see ya bye bye bye i’m going in a hole i don’t know where this goes but i’m going down or some

Coal oh okay we’re going to grab it grab it grab a girl grab it yeah great i’m gonna have to go after that i’m gonna need all the coal because like i said once we get super deep we are not gonna have any sources of coal down

There oh copper might as well grab it might as well we’re on our way down right i mean we’re in the cave i feel like this is justified because in the old days it was just like you had to go straight to the very bottom you know

What let me give you guys some light here all right there we go yeah let’s grab a few things on the way down i feel like that’s fair because we’re now in the crack but we’re looking for a hole at least we found the crack so that’s

You know that’s half the battle right there just gotta find the hole that leads uh deeper deep deep down below so we can start our cave life all right that is 13 and let’s go ahead and make um let’s make some more torches and i’m only gonna do this so you guys

Can see better and we are running out of spaces here aren’t we holy smokes all right uh let’s go let’s go let’s find a hole i’ll grab that too very uh we’ll find plenty of copper down below so i’m not going to grab that coal is going to be the issue

Depending on how far down we end up oh look at that lichen it glows i’m liking it i’m liking it a lot but that joke there’s more iron i probably shouldn’t leave these torches behind because they are they’re crucial they’re precious oh no no no no no no no no stop you stop

Dang it did i miss any coal uh iron i think i lost it all right let’s go down here we can barely squeeze through yeah unfortunately we didn’t find like a big old hole to lead down so we’re just gonna have to see where this goes meander on oh hold

Up hold it up maybe we don’t have to meander we found it look at that guys it’s a cave it’s a lush cave it’s beautiful oh my gosh guys this is gonna be so fun i am so excited for this series i can’t wait to get down there i can’t wait to

Get down there and start my cave life look at all the stuff see the glowberries on the vines so they glow and uh provide light and we can eat them and we can regrow them it’s gonna be a renewable food source and that’s fantastic uh it goes down all the way

Down there too so how low are we right now we’re at 26 wow we’re still pretty high to be honest well the good news is hustle mobs only spawn now in in zero light level so it has to be pitch black and that uh we can use that to our advantage

Because in the old days of this challenge we didn’t even we didn’t even use torches right they were off limits but now it doesn’t really make any difference all right here’s what we’re going to do we need to get down there and the safest way to do that is via water so check

This out we’re gonna flow right on down baby yeah check it out all right uh oops didn’t make it okay well we can we can fix that no all right we’re gonna have to dig a hole you can just make a little hole right here

Right there down it goes and then we can go down that hole hold on though give it a second give it a second it’s flowing check it out i wish we had a spyglass if we could watch this happen in real time from up here it’s

Still going it’s going to go all the way down to the bottom and that’s where we’re going so on three two one geronimo in the hole downfalls and don’t stop just keep going don’t turn around oh lag laggy lag hey cheaters wow whoa whoa whoa all right that was that was cheap

Something happened i don’t know what it was flag oh yeah you guys shoot each other fantastic thank you all right let’s heal up we made it and we got a bone good good good we can use that to uh to grow these azalea trees right or bushes into trees and we’ll have an

Endless supply of wood holy cow we almost died there didn’t really even notice all right but we made it we made it check it out we got iron we got azalea bushes we have sand we have the berries let’s eat some berries i don’t really have a lot of

With the bone meal just like that how cool is that guys that is sick i am so stoked okay let’s grab another berry or two here we go um and we can grow these too as far as i know we can just whoops i’m in hole pick up

And grow more vines and that just grows over time and the berries will uh will grow on the vines right pretty cool stuff okay well we’re in a lush cave and it is now time to start our cave life this is going to be amazing let’s light

It up a little bit so we don’t have mobs spawn all around well there’s some gold that’s nice i see a spider over there we can uh go get the spider get some string do i hear a witch holy smokes oh an axolotl hi buddy there’s a

Little axolotl and what the heck is this we got oh we got tropical fish what the heck tropical fish coming down the waterfall that we created there must be an ocean this must be ocean water that’s great i love this little guy hi buddy oh man that’s a little spawn here oh there’s

Another one oh don’t go down there buddy no no no don’t go down there oh no okay we don’t want him to go down there because that’s like super duper deep look at that wow um hi what up okay well here’s what we’re gonna do

Let’s go let’s go find a place where we can get settled uh this is great that we get tropical fish i can’t even oh man i don’t like those drip leaf thingies because it sounds like a sizzle sounded like a creeper let’s go find a place

Over here against the wall we can put our backs and maybe get some iron going right back here looks like a relatively good place oh perfect look at this wow this is very nice make sure there’s nothing back here um i don’t see anything back here that we’re

Too worried about oh my gosh look at that it’s a mine shaft mine shaft all the way down here which is negative 10. so we’re not even close to the bottom yet wow but i feel like we can live under zero i feel like this is a good place to get started so

Yeah let’s get started i gotta make a uh i’m gonna make a chest empty out my hands my gosh so let’s get a chest going the very first thing so we can dump this stuff out we’ve got so much stuff oh we got the sweet berries yeah i’m not gonna eat

Those right now oh yeah let’s get that furnace going too we’ll put that right here and get that iron started right away so we can uh get a bucket and we can collect those axolotls because i think they do despawn unless you pick them up in a bucket and uh re-release them

All right i’m gonna make a shovel and just get rid of all this clay right here and we’re gonna get another furnace going immediately so we can cook twice as fast and speaking of cooking we should probably make a campfire camp fire uh three logs yeah we can spare three

Logs let’s put this um let’s put this over here somewhere so what is this stuff this is like i think it’s called tough right uh cobblestone tough yeah tough what’s so tough about it doesn’t seem very tough i love the sounds all the new sounds and everything

It’s pretty cool i’ll put that there hopefully we don’t asphyxiate let’s let that smoke out there we go a little better now we can cook our meat right there and save on fuel how much meat do we have we got some raw raw pork there we go we’re gonna have some fresh

Bacon here in a minute loving it all right i’m just gonna dump all this stuff out all the birch trees we want to go out and uh get those started right away um there’s our iron and let’s throw that in there get that copper going if we can find an

Amethyst geode around here somewhere we can make a uh um a spyglass oh oh oh oh oh oh bacon on the floor bacon on the floor pick it up three second rule awesome all right i’m gonna put some of this stuff away actually i’m gonna keep the

Tough we can use that for building uh i think we’re done with the mushrooms for now i want to go out and try the bone meal on the azalea trees to see if we can grow them oh we got arrows here from them skeletons but first let’s make up a bucket that’s

Going to be crucial and moving those little axolotls around i’m afraid for them and let’s make uh oh boy yeah we got to get wood going quick here guys because we’re already running low i want to make an iron pickaxe and i’m thinking an iron sword right off

The bat the faster we can kill the better off we’ll be the best defense is a strong offense i’ve been told all right uh yeah we should probably go outside and grow some of these mushrooms to get them started don’t need the poppies right now grab that ham

All right what do we got here here we go copper yay kind of useless at the moment but hopefully we can find an amethyst geode and we will go out and do some exploring very very soon but first let’s uh let’s go and try to grow some azalea trees but how about if

We make something with our iron here we can make shears which really won’t be too useful how about if we do this um dang it we need one more for another shoe do we have any more in there yeah okay well we’ll just do it we’ll just make a make a helmet protect

The noggin there we go better than nothing oh here’s some iron right here in fact okay tell you what let me let me get this going oh it’s a bunch so we’re at negative what are we at right now yeah negative 9 is not the best for iron but it’s not terrible

Either however we are still beneath the coal level so we’re not going to get any coal at all down here we’re gonna have to go up a little bit to get more coal or we can just make charcoal right that’s always a possibility all right let’s get that iron going

And i just want one so we can at least get some shoes put some shoes on the feet oops right there there we go beautiful all right we’ll be back for the steak okay here we go more iron here stuff is everywhere oh there’s an axle

A baby there’s a little baby so cute all right let’s pick this guy up the cutest predator and let him out and now i don’t think that one will despawn and i think there was another one over here too right let the guy go hello gotcha got a bucket of axolotl

And now we can go get some tropical fish and breed them right yeah it’s so great that we’re getting tropical fish down here now too that was just by accident but that water must be um must be from an ocean isn’t that how that works look at all the tropical fish

Oh guys we’re gonna be able to make the most amazing fish tank the most amazing fish tank come here come here come here i gotcha tropical fish dotty back we got a daddy back let’s go give that to the axolotls i know i should be focused on survival

Right now but this is way too fun this cave life is amazing actually there you go oh we ate them wait a minute that’s not how that works oh boy i don’t know i forget how to how to get these guys to breed but again it’s not a priority it is cool

That we have them and we have endless supply of tropical fish um unfortunately we can’t eat tropical fish right as far as i know but we can do some fishing right once we get some string we can do some fishing so not a big deal okay anyway let’s uh let’s grow a tree

Isn’t it an azalea right here hi what are you doing to that bush hey listen when you gotta go you gotta go i get it you want a little privacy fine um let’s get rid of that we’re gonna have to clear this out give it all the space that it needs to grow

And we only have um we only have two bone meal and i think this is a pretty low chance like less than 50 let’s try it yay it worked we got it we got endless wood woo hoo we just need bone meal and that’s going to be easy to get around here

With all the uh with all the skeletons right hopefully we can get a skeleton spawner and then we can have like a skeleton farm bone farm that would be glorious because we’re going to need a lot of bone meal because we can use bone meal on everything down here

All right i think i did i get all the wood this will just fall apart on its own and this will drop uh more little azalea bushes like that one right there um alright so that’s cool so now we know we can get a source of wood because we’re running low

Of course we have that um we got that mine shaft over there too which we can go and raid for more wood let’s go down here real quick because it looks like it goes all the way down holy moly you gotta push me down there aren’t you well nope i’m gonna push you

Down there bye-bye have a nice trip pal see you next fall he’s still alive yeah wow look at all that now we are in the diamond level here so we should be able to find some diamonds right in the walls although they’re they’re not going to be

Easy to find that way because if they’re exposed to air there’s a chance they just won’t generate but even so if they do we’ll be able to see them very very easily yeah so we have a lot to do this is very exciting hey hey hey

Am i down here come on oh gosh i’m in a hole this is not good you’re in the hole with me oh dude really this is awkward this is very awkward yeah we’re gonna have to do something about this uh precarious flooring because we just can’t we can’t

Maneuver in this stuff it’s just too dang dangerous get stuck in one of these holes and a creeper falls in with you it’s uh it’s curtains it’s kitens all right anyway let’s um boy gold yeah this is great so many noises down here though i hear sizzles i hear little footfalls

But i think it’s just these guys make a lot of noise for a little critter you know that all right i think i’m gonna just do a little collecting here real quickly get some more iron go and get a full suit of iron armor and i will feel much better about things

In the meantime i’m gonna have to keep eating these berries and we can just grow more berries just like that wherever we want some lighting that’s pretty cool man i love this lush cave it’s amazing it is terrific okay i’m gonna head back inside over here for now my friends and i think

We’re gonna call it quits but we shall pick up in the next episode i hope you enjoyed this episode oh got some more iron here that’s nice i need a little bit more for pants so let’s go ahead and cook this up with an old sword
