With a creeper exploding me i find that to be like a very iconic part of minecraft but enderman walking up and stealing blocks just bothers bothers the heck out of me so yeah um typically the vanilla stuff comes from zuma voids vanilla tweak data packs or whatever they’re called

Bedroom as i dig the hole but i’m realizing that what i can do is just make a bigger room right why restrict myself right now with the shape of what that is when i can just fill out the space inside does that make sense sorry let’s let me let me demonstrate so

What i’m doing right now is we have our room and then i was going to make a second room off the side which is kind of neat but on the other hand if i just do this i can come in later with detail and be like oh

Uh this is going to be the office section and then this is going to be the bedroom section and i can just decorate and use the spacing inside and i think it’s actually faster just to dig a hole first and not use all the space than it is to simultaneously try and dig

And decorate at the same time so this is what i normally do let’s give this theory a try and see if it’s faster does that make sense to anybody i think that’s kind of a cool thing worth trying when i was having burritos for lunch today

Yeah one of the things i’m trying to remind myself of and this is something the really good builders do is that when you dig a space you don’t have to use all of it and sometimes some of the best decorations i’ve seen are people who actually make the interiors

This is especially true if you’re building like a building or an apartment and like if you’re watching hermitcraft all of the aqua thunder builds are a great example of this but if you make like a building if you make an exterior your interior doesn’t have to use the same walls

And sometimes to give yourself like really nice decorating really nice decorations on the inside you can make the inside smaller right by making your walls thicker by carving the space up i think that’s a that’s another place where i can learn to get better as a builder

Oh i have an even better idea i’m so good at minecraft um pardon all right you know what let’s not even worry about that just random mysterious holes to uh what looked like nuclear power underground you know it’s perfectly ordinary things right so here’s my thought my thought is that

Sand doesn’t get transformed into puzzle i don’t know if this is true or not but i hope that it is i’m a genius it’s wood collections does it i’ve gone full galaxy brain yeah puzzle stuff is kind of cool but also gets kind of annoying sometimes it’s like a stain upon the earth

We can do without that i’m probably going overboard here but whatever what’s the advantage of using pods all over dirt so the 2×2 spruce tree produces podzol i didn’t choose to do that if you were watching earlier you’d have seen i actually put down plain grass

And so the reason we moved to the desert here is any time a 2×2 tree generates it transforms a huge radius uh probably about six blocks in any direction of grass and dirt and i don’t know if it does coarse dirt as well it turns it all on a podzol

How does someone go about getting more heavily into specialty coffee can be pretty overwhelming sometimes i can agree with that i had a funny story years and years ago i sat down with a dear friend of mine for lunch she worked in coffee and i was just getting into it

I was working at an espresso bar this is before i was working as a roaster and i can’t remember exactly how i worded it was just profoundly stupid the way i said it which was great i was like why are some places good in other places not good right like how

How are you supposed to know i think the question i was trying to ask was how are you supposed to know what the reputation of a place is before you try it you know you don’t just want to catalog everything into your head and i think that’s true

Of sort of anything you want to get into right how do you know if if a brewery is good how do you know if a restaurant is good how do you know if coffee is good you’ve never tried it how do you develop the skills to sort of evaluate it

And the secret the trick rather or anything for that is just talking to people right like as soon as you find one place that you like start talking to the staff you know ask your barista where else should we go i shared that story on um

I can’t remember what stream it was it was a while ago of being in japan and having a really hard time trying to find good coffee this is back in 2010 there’s good coffee everywhere now but in 2010 it was a little bit harder to find like good single origin coffee in japan

There and we got invited to a coffee tasting just sort of like an industry and friends coffee tasting at one of the places and one of the i don’t know one of the really cool things we got to do was they laid out something like two dozen different coffees

Grown in hawaii grown and roasted in hawaii and we just tasted them all side by side is really cool it’s the sort of thing i don’t get to do that i don’t work in the industry as much whole classes on coffee teas and not alcoholic beverages

Towards the end of my coffee career when i was still doing that for work one of my favorite things that we did at fernwood was we would run private coffee tastings for people so for like i think it was maybe like 150 or 200 an hour

But like it generates fairly commonly it takes a while to hunt for it but technically it’s all over the world you just have to find it you just have to hunt for it gilded blackstone will only spawn inside of bastions which are already pretty rare so if you just think of the entire

Again this is java and i don’t know if you can do it in bedrock but there’s something you can do called game rule uh keep inventory true and what this does is if you die instead of dropping everything it keeps everything you’re carrying on you i just don’t know if there’s an equivalent

To that in uh on the switch again and i don’t i don’t want to be dunking on the switch it’s a great mobile port of the game um but it is very much so for those of you who aren’t familiar um minecraft is built on java and java sucks

I think we’re all on the same page when we say that but people love minecraft and minecraft has probably extended the use of this language for years beyond its probable normal lifespan java also carries a lot of tech debt and so does minecraft as a result of using that

So rather than just abandoning this version of minecraft they made a brand new version of minecraft on bedrock and they’ve kind of had on divergent paths and they’re slowly starting to sync up they’re doing a pretty good job of explaining that bedrock is technically better under the hood as it’s much newer

Yeah that’s fair wait bedrock is technically much better under the hood but it’s newer and has different bugs yeah okay i definitely threw my prized pickaxe into love in the early game one to play through on stream one time this was in our vanilla play-through it was probably like four or five days

This was uh probably two vanilla playthroughs again when we made the aven adam lavidan build i got into the nether and my portal was in a really awkward spot that it was floating over a lava lake and i came through with like my first brand new like all of my diamond gear

All my first early diamonds and a ghast hit me and knocked me into lava and in front of everybody i died and lost all of my stuff so not only did it suck that i died and lost all my stuff but i also did it in front of an audience

And i was like okay i’m just gonna go walk that sting off that sucked that honked does redstone and bedrock kind of suck i don’t know i think it’s different i i do believe bedrock is probably going to be eventually the version that replaces everything that’s just my guess i don’t think they

Can just keep you know trying to upgrade java i’ve completely forgotten what i was working on by the way just absolutely gone all of my thoughts we just started talking about minecraft versions instead oh these are slabs oh let’s go ahead and do this this is really cute

Yeah i feel corrales and cleo were an excellent team for um the hermitcraft big or hcbs whatever that was a very fun storyline i felt they were very uniquely equipped to help each other out minecraft as richard garfield intended absolutely all right so we’ve added a little bit

More there the only thing we have to do is bring the ceiling down a half slab as well get the feeling a lot of them are waiting the fact that um the 1.17 changes and the like the world generation there makes it really difficult to want to jump into a brand new world

Right because we know that 1.18 is coming basically right after 1.17 right sort of within six months because like 1.17 is june july and then 1.18 is the holidays which is december i mean i guess six months isn’t that bad for wanting to do a world reset but for the size of the

Projects that they do there it puts you in a tough spot of being like well what do we do the new world for do we do the new world for 1.17 and then wipe it again in 1.18 do we do 1.17 and then figure something out you could see them doing the world

Border similar to 1.14 that was tough though because when they moved to the new town they had already had a lot of a lot of people drop at that point right there’s a lot of negativity for hcbbs really oh that’s too poor that’s too bad i

Imagined a lot of the things that people didn’t change too much for that was due to was more so due to um time constraints just like not really seen a ton of videos hcbbs was a storyline in hermitcraft where the bases were randomly reassigned uh it stands for hermitcraft big base swap

So a lot of the people like this it’d be like imagine we’re playing kitsune and then suddenly your base and all the contents are mine and my base and all the contents are yours and anything goes and it’s like a very bold and very fun idea and a lot of things that we’re

Talking about was uh corrales and cleo for example cleo got his entire city and then uh crowley’s got clio zoo and so she’s very good at armor stands she added a bunch of life and a bunch of town and people and storytelling like atmospheric storytelling into the city

And then he went and he’s a beautiful builder and landscaper and she had all these animals so he made this like tremendous and stunning zoo which is kind of cool um when mumbo got scars base bumbo ended up adding like this a bunch of redstone projects and fixing stuff and then for scar

Scar went through and added like some landscaping and some storytelling very large scale to mumbo’s base you read the youtube comments a lot of it was negative that’s too bad i don’t know i worry that some people oh it was definitely never intended to be permanent i mean that’s i think that’s

Pretty obvious but like if you’re looking at the fact that people have been there for 18 months and some of them are starting to burn out injecting something fresh and exciting into it makes a ton of sense i need a block for those lights or i’m not going to be happy

Let’s just try a smooth stone block for now and then maybe some polished andesite we’ll see how those work i think that’s going to be better than the alternative i’m pretty sure i just want this all right chat which do you prefer inset or hangi outy

I still don’t know if that’s the right block though it’s just cut in half it doesn’t quite look right but i think i think it wants to be oh interesting nova tiempo really y’all are on team inset no i mean collectively you’ll have a better idea of what looks good than i do

All right instead it is i don’t really have room to make a border around it so for example i mean maybe i could try stairs no stairs don’t work the problem with trying to make it instead and give it a border is the fact that it’s a half slab around the outside

So i can’t really make a solid border i can’t do if i go back a full block it’s too much right i mean maybe if i pulled it further away from the bookshelves it might work what about that thin wooden trim ah it doesn’t work on the ceiling the trim

Goes on the side of things the only reason it worked here is because i’m putting it uh maybe no wouldn’t work on the inside because it takes up a full block so yeah i think that’s fine all right i think this is good for today so here we have the start to
