Unhappybean – Making an infinite maze in minecraft (only command blocks)

I created an infinitely generated maze using only command blocks here’s how that exact action was accomplished okay so here is our three-step plan we have the generation we basically this is the first step we need to make it so that the maze actually appears it actually exists once that out of the way

We need to go into randomization basically make it random make all the rooms and passageways go in different directions not just the same room over and over again and objective make it actually escapeable okay so i’ve already got one thing working so basically these are the arm stands that follow where the players

Are and it will generate where the maze is okay and i think i’ve set this up if we just turn it on yep that seems to be making rooms cool now let’s add some walls turn on cool it’s kind of making rooms because now i’ll make it in a bigger

Radius around the player Yeah okay it is only generating one type of room but it looks cool okay so that’s generation ticked off next into randomization which will probably take the longest amount of time let’s think about making another step um the minotaur so basically i’m basing this off of greek mythology

The labyrinth so it could be quite cool if we had a minotaur okay so i’ve got a little bit more of it done did a little bit without recording okay so i made a bunch of different rooms i made one that had a bit of black stone in it one that

Had a spawner you know just some little room variations and i’m working on making them actually spawn over here Cool um that’s down uh this is working why is this like out of line that just spawned okay something’s going terribly wrong okay so let me just try and explain what’s going on so basically how the machine was working so far was that there was a player in the

Center and a bunch of arm stands around it this means that when the player moves the arm stands will stay to where the player is then every now and again those arm stands will spawn dungeon rooms and these rooms will make up the maze then basically what will happen is when the

Player moves again rooms will spawn in weird outer place places that they shouldn’t normally be in so here’s my other strategy this time instead of the player controlling where the arm stands go when the player walks into the room with an arm stand the arm stand will split off

Four different copies generating four different rooms in perfect alignment and then the player will go into a different room and that room will split off into four more separate rooms and this is how it’s going to be in lined but still depending on where the player is moving so this new plan

Seems great but now this means that we have to do a generation again okay so there’s a very high likelihood that this could crash the game fingers crossed yeah okay i know that just looks like an arm stand teleporting away from me but that’s cooler than it seems

Uh yeah that’s that’s why we met a backup of the world yeah okay yeah it’s good it’s not crashing yeah it’s it’s generating things it’s working okay it starts to lag a bit okay so there are apparently 2 000 armor stands there and they look like they were like 10

And because we’re doing a completely different system this whole thing i made before is completely useless boop that’s actually quite satisfying okay i think i got it working okay so start off by spawning one over there which will then spawn three yeah they generate more rooms

Yeah let’s go there’s only 37 in the world which was about the right amount okay we can take off generation two now next onto randomization okay now it’s just time to make 30 more rooms okay i finished making all of the rooms here they all are i think this has got

To be my favorite one the one that’s just like an outdoor little area and i link them all up so let’s give it a test okay right so there’s a bit of delay but that’s it it’s working there we go and also when i was generating it you could actually like

See the outside all i need to do is just increase this number and also increase this number and here’s the outside area oh this is oh this is so cool it’s working okay it’s working okay well now we can cross off randomization we’ve only got two left at the very top there is

This room this room can generate basically what you have to do is basically this room doesn’t generate very often and when it does it only has one door so not only do you have to get lucky to generate it but you also need to get lucky that it connects to another

Pathway through this one area when you do you get the beacon and basically what you need to do is you need to bring this beacon back to where you started and place it down and that’ll get you out of the maze uh now i just need to code that yeah okay

This is the center totally worked here and is it working no it is not working why is it not working i can’t most of it out but i spent over two hours trying to find out what that problem was okay i i found the problem i rewatched

The footage and apparently i broke a command block to fit in the place of another command block and um forgot to replace the one i broke now we’re just going back to be working well actually i haven’t tested it yet but i’m pretty sure it should work yeah it’s all it’s all good

Yeah it’s all generating rooms now okay so there is a bit of lag 513 entities here there’s not really supposed to be that much something’s a little bit wrong but anyway i’ve had enough of the room generation i want to go make a minotaur okay i’m going to use this head because

It looks a little bit more creepy okay kind of our skeleton would be so much better because they put their hands down okay yeah looks kind of cool yeah that’s certainly working oh i know exactly what a minotaur should be able to do okay he just killed me

So he’s quite fast and he not he knocks you back really far like it look like an actual minotaur that seems like a lot but when you’re inside like an enclosed maze it’ll be a lot less significant good okay one over there you’re supposed to be dead

That is supposed to be dead right that is you are you you are the living dead i found the problem okay so they’re not dying when they walk this command block is not working yeah okay it’s working now i just needed to make it yeah finally we’ve got a maze there’s working

That is randomized that is not incredibly laggy all the time this has taken me a week i am happy bean it’s an infinitely generating maze right now it’s actually time to do the adjective now how i’m going to incorporate the minotaur into it is basically once you get the beacon

The minotaur will spawn and start hunting you down and you have to get to the center while running away from the minotaur i can actually be anywhere i can actually just go over here now and go again yeah no no yeah but no kind what is happening grass is doing something

I don’t know what it we could just leave it like this like do we need this ground to be there and then i just went ahead and finished it i made it so that the minotaur will spawn once you get the beacon i made it so that every now and again little

Monsters will spawn and i made it so that once he place down the beacon it will actually teleport you out of the maze let’s go test it then okay so all we need to do is just go into flat piece of ground that i’ve never done and let’s go tag it s add

Begin right generates more wherever you walk this way there’s a skeleton over there that’s a witch okay i think the witch and the skeleton started to fight each other yeah they are i think oh this is a dead end oh wait no it doesn’t that’s good that that’s a spoiler though
