WTF! Minecraft’s Progression is a JOKE?!

Extremely passionate team it’s I think for me like what I love about terrari is the bosses right I think that’s what makes it fun because every time you beat every time you beat a you feel like you’re working towards something right like and also the other thing that helps

Is there’s so many ores that there’s so many different ways to progress like your items that every time you make a better item it feels good right because when you make a better item it’s like yes this is the next item now I can get more stuff I could go deeper but also

You could fight more bosses right that’s what I love about it just a good game I first got it on the PS3 back in 2013 and on Steam a couple years later playing it again for the footage of this video has been a blast it’s got a fair share of

Problems but there’s a reason it has sold over 40 million copies Minecraft is a very similar game that attempts to do a lot of the same things that Terraria does not exactly executed much worse see I think that’s the first issue I have with what he said is that I don’t

Exactly agree with the premise because Minecraft isn’t like Terraria right it’s easy to say they’re both sandbox games right I think this the fact that Minecraft has less bosses speaks to the fact that Minecraft is more about creativity Terraria is more about progression where in Minecraft I think

The progression is deliberately not made to be as um large or big because the game’s more about making cool things right because at the end look at what is there to really do in Minecraft right you could beat the Ender Dragon then what that’s it right you can get the

Elra okay whatever if you ever watch any Minecraft Youtuber especially like watching hermitcraft you know what they do they build cool things they work on projects and a lot of their Farms revolve around collecting blocks so that way they don’t have to mine it themselves right most of the Farms are

About collecting blocks that’s what makes Minecraft cool in my opinion I think that’s really the point of the game the point of the game is making your own goals not having goals handed to you Minecraft is a good game but I feel that most criticisms can be captured under the overwhelming fact

That it struggles with one key feature that Terraria excels at progression progression is key in any open world survival game you could argue that Minecraft is meant to be more of a building game or a platform with which players can make their own experiences and i’ say you’re correct and here the

Other thing too right before we finish this I want to say too if you don’t want this in a game and you want good progression Go download mods there are so many mods out there that there’s no reason for you not to use mods unless you’re on Console right then I feel bad

For you because then again right that’s what you get for playing a console anyway right I don’t but yeah that the answer to that is mods because the Minecraft team can’t there’s so much stuff that so many different mod packs and mods that exist that the Developers

For am Mojang will never be able to catch up and it’s not really worth them to really try because they’ll add one thing in an update and there are 100 mods out there that add up 10,000 different things but that’s not what this video is about I think critiquing Minecraft’s progression is perfectly

Relevant because survival single player is the base from which it developed it’s silly to ignore the Survival game as if it’s not an integral part of the Minecraft experience if you’re afraid of hearing critical opinions about a game you love then perhaps this video is not

For you this reminds me of a world this video was made out of a place of love for Minecraft I know I’ve started from a very critical perspective but let me be clear in some ways Minecraft is really good the concept of mining is simple and intuitive anyone can left and right

Click there’s almost no skill to the action itself beyond that getting the hang-up building isn’t all that hard either sure you can take the time become a master at building but you certainly don’t need to do that to progress in Minecraft m in the standard vanilla’s survival experience of Minecraft there

Is a serious imbalance of challenges and rewards building things isn’t too hard so that’s not a big deal mobs are pretty easy to fight so you know that’s fun you could do anything you want while Gathering up all the resources you need to build your mega base even better you

Can become a redstone wizard and automate the hell out of your world essentially letting the game do everything for you you can beat the Ender Dragon with almost no effort fight the Wither with a little more effort maybe uh and get some elytra and some Advan well even then right the the

Wither actually is a tough boss if you try and beat on your own also like where the way that wither was designed it wasn’t really designed for you to fail because if you do and you try and go back to it the your especially even on Console your world will lag like hell

Because every time the Wither destroys blocks it will become like blocks in game and it just the lag’s incredible I remember playing on a realm in one of my friends Realms I fought the Wither and I died after being overprepared and I was on Bedrock so the Wither’s more tougher

On Bedrock but since I died it came back the no joke the game was running at like 2 FPS I could barely move and my friend had to roll back the realm that’s really about it in terms of what the game lays out for you this all

Sounds okay in theory in fact I’m will to bet it works for some people I’m sure tons of you feel that Minecraft has fulfilled what you wanted it to fulfill as a game you may even argue that its Simplicity is what made Minecraft successful I think that is what made it

Successful it doesn’t need a lot of progression there the whole point of Minecraft is that it’s a Sandbox like the the whole premise of the game is that you you create the game yourself in a way I think that’s why mods are great and why it’s a reason why I kept

Minecraft alive is because mods keep the spirit of Minecraft alive which is you make your own game just that a lot of mod developers decided this is what we want the game to want there are Minecraft maps that aren’t even mods where you could play those people make

Their own stories in Minecraft Minecraft works because it’s a ginormous sandbox where you can make anything but I ask you this when was the last time you sat down and played a singleplayer vanilla Minecraft world with no ulterior motive that is to say without having some other

Reason outside of the game itself or because of new snapshots and content it’s been a long time I’m willing to bed and I don’t mean oh I created a new world and played for a couple hours and got bored and haven’t touched it in weeks I’m guilty of it we’re all guilty

Of it I mean I haven’t either but again that’s only I only play with mods and I can’t go like if you like it’s hard to explain but if you play Minecraft with mods you you can’t go back like it’s so difficult to explain but it’s something you can’t really understand completely

Unless you do it yourself because mods add so much to the game that to play vanilla Minecraft is silly because again Minecraft is like a a blank slate and mods make Minecraft complete and whole and I think if Minecraft were to add it yourself what it does is it prevents all

Those other people that were adding stuff to the game it makes it more difficult to do so I mean the last time you sat down and took the time to just become immersed into the game for no reason other than to just do it a game

Can be both simple to pick up and have meaningful progression the ease in playing can come from how the game teaches the player and there’s a good reason you haven’t picked up the game in a while it’s because the game’s kind of boring if you’re like me you’ve been

Playing Minecraft for a decade if you’re especially stupid like I am you will have a career revolved around it and consequently spiral into a deep depression where the thing that brought you Joy is not tied to making you money and you’re afraid that you’re going to

End up like every other Boomer who hates the job unfortunately well here’s the thing right is that this is something I’m sure a lot of you guys could relate to if you played Minecraft is it’s very easy to play the game start playing and then real realiz wait a minute what’s

The point of building anything because there’s there’s no point and I think if you keep thinking about it it sucks the fun at a Minecraft but when you just start doing the whole point point of Minecraft is to do things for the sake of doing it not for progression and it’s

One of the reasons why I appreciate Minecraft actually is because there’s something nice about playing a game and not having to worry about getting all this other stuff just doing something for fun right and and that’s really what I think again right even like YouTubers who have like

Their own servers like what makes them fun is the stuff they build and there are ways I think to Minecraft’s also a game that’s most fun when it’s shared with other people right and a lot of times I think a reason why if you play Minecraft it doesn’t feel

Fulfilling because you’re you’re only doing it for yourself and sometimes people need the extra ra push to have a shared experience because it’s much more satisfying to build something with a community of people and have an amazing world built with multiple people than just by yourself craft sucks at making

Players feel good while playing it the vanilla survival experience in Minecraft is mind-numbingly boring and hasn’t changed in any significant way since 2011 all the time I see people commenting things like this game was only fun with friends or mods and while I disagree with them in some ways it’s

Very easy to understand why many people feel this way we’ve grown up it’s not L again can you play the game well that’s well here’s the thing right to a certain extent you can have fun playing Minecraft just by yourself but it’s not for everyone right I think again that’s

Where Minecraft shines is it it’s a game that’s designed it’s actually the per like people should keep trying to make these everything Games Minecraft is the everything game it’s the closest you’re ever going to get right no matter what you want in a game you can find it in

Minecraft right and if you just want a game to just do whatever and mess around this is the game for you Minecraft hasn’t it’s kind of like an old reliable car it always works but you’re not thrilled to drive it anymore when you’re at home it’ll work but it doesn’t go 0

To 60 like the new cars can even still it’s always there waiting for you to open the garage always an option when you need to take a nice evening and a relaxing Drive I believe that the reason Minecraft feels so boring to many players is because it lacks any real

Sense of progression as I said previously progression is one of the most important factors of any video game I wouldn’t even say that because I think what really makes it boring is the mining like let’s be real here that’s really that’s the the reason why Minecraft is boring is the mining it and

I think the reason why is the Minecraft boring it is progression but I think that’s not really the root cause I think it’s just a sign right of why but the the real issue is that when you mine there’s nothing you really find right when you go mining you find you 90% no

That’s not true I would say 70% of the time you find nothing there’s a reason why the most fun you have in Minecraft when you’re mining is caves when it’s not as efficient as actually doing um strip mining right where one of the reasons why I like playing modded

Minecraft is because when you go mining in in modded Minecraft you find ORS like every other every other like every 10 blocks you find ORS something like that right even if the ORS suck you find ORS and that’s one of the reasons why I think M care is boring is because even

When you want it because mining I think is really what sucks the fun out of the game right the building’s fun the the com like the combat can be fun well it’s all right right don’t really plays for the combat but um the building is what makes Minecraft fun but the mining is

Kind of what sucks to fun out of the game progression can come in many forms in some games like Mario it’s in your ability to take become more and more difficult parkour challenges as the game goes on utilizing the Knowledge and Skills that you’ve gained from earlier

On to take on the challenges in the end game is a very rewarding and engaging experience another great example is Metroid Metroid games are like the Pinnacle of progression players start off extremely weak and fragile only to build up to extreme strengths through exploration and challenges other open

World games like Terraria offer a more meaningful progression than Minecraft does well I think he’s missing something right because Minecraft doesn’t have progression in the same way these other games have it but Minecraft does have progression right and it’s not in mining or through traditional gameplay the progression is through building that’s

What makes Minecraft unique so the way you progress in the game is by building something cool and again that’s why the game’s self motivating because you can only be motivated to play Minecraft when you have something cool you want to build right that’s really where the progression comes from if you ever watch

Any Minecraft server and everything they’re doing they’re always working towards a build because that’s where the progression is and that’s what makes Minecraft unique is you make your own progression in fact let’s talk a little more about Terraria part one Terraria in Terraria players start with extremely lousy tools these tools are

Not only agonizingly slow when it comes to Gathering materials but also have minus one range compared to any other standard tool this is particularly engaging for a couple of reasons one starting with slow tools means that players have a need to obtain faster ones that can mine more two having

Better tools incentivizes players to explore more things with those tools tools never break in Terraria instead Terraria intentionally makes the early game feel slow sluggish and awful for example when using copper tools players may find they mine materials like gold or platinum extremely slowly but when they upgrade to iron tools mining gold

Becomes just a little bit quicker and so does while they may come ACR this strange or red if you’re weird or that they can’t seem to break luckily coming back later with a new gold or platinum pickaxe allows them to mine it as well as break other blocks much

Faster you may expect players to be stoked about getting their hands on this new sweet ore but by this point in the game players likely already know what it is and that’s because of one horrible massive eyeball part 1.1 Terraria boss fights I thought he was going to say the

Wiki that’s one of the reasons why um Minecraft has this problem too but it’s something that’s kind of again mod when you play with mods you have to check the wikis for those mods when you play vanilla Minecraft you know you don’t have to check the wiki as much right cuz

There’s not that much to it and I think that’s one of the things like to be critical of a game like Terraria one of the things I don’t like about Terraria is how much how often you have to check the wiki just to have I understand where

What you’re doing because if you don’t check the wiki you’re going to have no clue what you’re doing the first boss into area is King Slime but nobody gives a about him so let’s move on the second boss First’s noive floats in the air and summons other little eyeballs to attack the

Player and then later grows teeth in the second phase of the fight players can summon this boss in one of two ways the first way to summon is by Smashing Six Demon contact lenses together but that’s boring so who cares the second way is likely how many new players first

Discovered that their life was about to become really really bad you see when a player has silver armor or tungsten or hire there is a chance that when nightfalls they will get a very strange message popping up in the corner of their screen to a new player nighttime

Is already extremely dangerous early on players have likely died several times to zombies and demonized already to be told very ominously you feel an evil presence watching you as soon as nightfalls is terrifying and certainly made a 13-year-old me panic the eye of cthulu fight is both genius I’m sure

Everyone remembers their first time fighting certainly necessary to progress the game and build up your character past gold or platinum tools most players will die fighting the eye on their first couple of attempts if they’re crafty enough they may already have a decent bow ready for the fight Bow’s arrows are

Slow but pack a decent punch against the boss especially if they’re lit on fire some may get lucky enough to even make it to the second stage the stage where it grows teeth but they are even more likely to die due to the boss’s increased speed the reward for this

Fight is Skeletron probably a much scarier first boss because you just get demolished and it feels impossible purple or red stuff that the players came across earlier except now they can craft a couple things with it players can make a really powerful new sword or even a new powerful bow but it feels

Like there’s supposed to be more to it if you’re a very astute player you may have noticed that this new or is reminiscent of that creepy biome you died in several times in your R of the ocean it’s called the corruption you might want to pay attention to your

Little guide friend told you to make some weird worm bait using a demon alter whatever that is uh but hey he hasn’t steer you wrong this far so you know what’s the big what is that it’s a strange floating orb well well well don’t mind if I do oh I got a

Gun guns radically change how players have been dealing with the range attacks up to this point arrows from bows shoot extremely slow and can be difficult to aim guns fix this problem bullets shoot much faster and pack a decent punch they also don’t like if you noticed whenever

He’s firing a an arrow it arches the guns don’t Arch that’s the other thing so you don’t F and pack a decent punch the only issue is the gun you got is extremely slow at firing much slower than that bow you’ve been using so naturally you buy a

Slightly weaker gun that shoots faster from the merchant and you’re off blasting that worm thing the guy told you about this is a really good example of effective oh yeah the is my favn key information about where to go next via the game itself and organically discovers new things that radically by

The He Doing It Wrong what you’re supposed to do if if you want to do this fight with no damage you just build a platform above yourself and then just Target SN Target it from below you it’s easier to dodge the boss at least that’s what I did the gun versus bow

Predicament is just one example is probably faster though if you’re good at the game to play but that’s not even the best part you don’t have to kill the I cthulu to get the gun that’s just how most people do it in the footage you’re watching I got the gun first and an

Extremely powerful melee weapon and I use them both to just fly through these boss fights if a player has extensive knowledge of the game’s mechanics then they can take on the challenge of entering the corruption before ever having good gear and getting their hands on much more powerful items before most

Other players would allowing them to Breeze through some of these boss fights as a reward for their knowledge of the game The Underground corruption is extremely dangerous early game to have the ability to overcome that difficulty and be rewarded with some really powerful tools in the process is amazing progression this progression extends

Beyond just combat though players can find small pieces of gear that allow of them jump higher jump twice run faster swim faster be immune to Lava there’s all kinds of pie pieces of gear that you can find L that’s what makes it fun is you can like one of the things that

Makes Terraria fun is that there are so many different builds because that’s the way it works right is that that’s one of the reasons again where it’s one of the downsides of the game is if you want to play optimally you need to look at the

Wiki and the wiki will tell you which op which builds are optimal and then you use those items to make the best build but it’s still nice that you have the ability to customize how you um what like items you use for your character keeps things fair by limiting the amount

Of gear you can use at any given time and due to limited inventory space it’s very unlikely that players will keep tons of gear on them to swap in and out forcing them to think carefully about what armor weapons and gear they choose to Weare of when they are out and about

After you get done destroying that little worm guy you realize it’s been dropping scales this entire time using these scales in that fancy or you found you can now craft all new armors and tools with this new gear you can finally start mining your way through the corruption biome eventually you talk to

Some old dude at a big dungeon then he just explodes into a floating skull with arms you know Tuesday so you take him down then suddenly the progression splits in a very meaningful way you can choose one of four paths relating to combat melee ranged magic or Summoner

The game do really explain it to you bone armor for range jungle armor for magic and to be honest I what what does Summoners do what do they do I’ll be honest I still don’t understand the classes and what people talk about my brother just keeps saying oh yeah there

Are four class okay okay where does it say like no is there a place in the game that says there are four classes like I’ve never understood this they get they get obsidian armor it be armor what what are these people doing okay I like they spawn bees technically progression

Splits much earlier than this but I think this is probably just the best point for most people uh to figure out what class they’re going to be dedicating their time I still never pick a like I technically pick melee but I use range weapons too like I’ll be

Honest the way I play I know I play it wrong but the way I always play Terraria is I use whatever weapons I feel like using I I I don’t care about oh I’m going to be the melee class so I’m going use Mele No I’ll use the range weapon

When I feel like it and I’ll use the melee weapon when I feel like it because I’ll whatever a lot of time to it that’s why I suck at this players May begin to feel that they can reasonably take on most challenges in the world they’ve got

The best armor the best tools they can take down most enemies that come across pretty quickly and they may even have the best sword in the game the knight’s Edge the game then challenges you to go to the depths of hell and defeat a massive flesh monster this is where the

Game finally beat the game roll the credits except that’s not what happens at all everything you thought I knew about the game gets thrown out and you die super easily again and everything is off travel through walls the hollow biome is beautifully and terrifyingly D the jungle just got

Marked where who are these people are are those pirates part no the Pirates are cool but like the thing I find confusing about it is is the souls right that’s I find the souls in the game so confusing like Souls what what what the hell is this

Right like there six souls okay so the fights are in bosses and there’s so many enemies I’ve never seen that have more health I’m like oh okay two oh you’re weak again mhm after defeating the Wall of Flesh in terrara you officially enter hard mode

Which is just a fancy way of the devs telling you that the game just started and you’ve now exited the tutorial phase the devs essentially say we hope you enjoyed feeling like you were on top of the world for a while by way this is what it like I think this perfectly

Highlights what what I was trying to say with Minecraft though even though he’s not focusing on it is that um you could still focus on building in Terraria and that’s what I do whenever I play I focus on building but the issue with that is every time you’re trying to build

Something cool it feels like you’re wasting time because that’s time you could be spending working towards progressing getting the next boss and for me every time I build it makes me feel bad about it because I’m not doing more where in Minecraft because it doesn’t have that progression it’s one

Of the things I actually like about Minecraft so I could just build and not have to worry about oh well I could be mining right now no I’m building because that’s what you do in the game where Tor when every time I build something cool I

Stress out so I’m like oh I I can’t really do this and because there’s so much stuff in the game even when you’re building something there’s so many like distractions because now things are much worse when you kill the Wall of Flesh it always drops the pawn Hammer the pawn

Hammer can destroy demon Alters you know those things that we used earlier to get the worm bait it’s within this feature that Terraria mixes a progression once again and causes you to rethink how you’ve been mining upon breaking a demon alter and getting to one is no simple

Task in this new hard mode players will be rewarded with the addition of six technically three ores added to their world these ores serve as replacements for the previous three ores that you were mining technically six look there’s a lot about ores I don’t want to go into

It whatever you get the point each set of tools can only mine the next ore up forcing players to progress literally from one or to the next to the next from here the game’s progression expands tfold there are many different pieces of gear that you can many different enemies

To take on that net different rewards you have to choose what rewards benefit your play style the most there’s a lot of really interesting progression features within terara NPCs that come and go and different benefits to moving them in with other N I think again like even though this isn’t really talking

About like this is something that I think is worth highlighting and again why Minecraft’s special is that if you play a game like Terraria you’re halfway through the progression and you stop at least for me right because it’s so over in I don’t really know all of it to go

Back to the game where I’m at because I’m already in the middle I might as well just start a new world because there’s so much stuff I’m not going to I’m going to be lost I don’t even remember where I was in the progression right because there’s so much stuff

Where if I go back where was I in the progression again right and for me it creates a barrier that coming back to the game where Minecraft you know if you have a world where you built cool stuff and you come back to it it doesn’t matter what you’re doing you just build

Something else that’s cool PCS and all the gadgets that you can craft by combining them with other gadgets and just so much more but I think you get my point here Terraria handles progression perfectly in the beginning it lets you feel weak slowly allowing you to build

Up your power and feel like you’re on top of the world only to pull the rug out from under you and cause you to fall right back down in the bottom of an even harsher less forgiving World in which you must build yourself up once again it goes much further beyond what I’ve

Talked about here the game keeps going until you are literally wearing futuristic space armor and have a sword made up of every other important sword in the game there’s so much stuff to get in this game it’s an immersive open world that challenges and rewards players allowing us to feel like we’ve

Conquered at all the only thing that I can really knock Terr thing too I never play Terraria enough to get these cool weapons because in order to get it to need to like fight bosses like 10 times or something like that like you need to like fight the even like they get like

The some of the best items in the game you need like it makes sense right but you need to fight Moon Lord so many times and for me you know once I beat the game I’m want kind of dawn that’s the other thing too right is that

Because it takes long to beat the game when you beat it it feels like you’re done right and when I was talking about not going back to my world right I beat Moon Lord in the world I was playing in since I beat Moon Lord what’s the real

Reason to go back right like I was building a golf course in it which was cool and if I ever go back I’ll do that but I don’t remember where it was in progression right but I don’t feel like fighting bosses again and again CU for

Me what’s the point I beat the game right and that’s just extra stuff where in Minecraft again right you could beat the End Dragon but it’s obvious that’s not the point of the game so when you beat it it doesn’t feel like you can’t play anymore that it’s linear it’s not

Open-ended Minecraft is open-ended but it does progression infinitely worse part two Minecraft kind of sucks in Minecraft you start with nothing unless you’re cool and enable the bonus chest that is it’s not cheating it’s it’s a feature you play on um Pocket Edition you start with a map

It’s a feature they put it in the it’s a feature I I don’t know from there you can crack well actually no I’m talking about the wrong thing on Console it was before they had Bedrock if you played on Console you’d start with a map and a

Steak wooden tools which you need to get stone tools which you need to get iron tools which you need to get diamond tools which you need to get netherite and that’s it you’ve just got the best stuff in the game already huh it’s been a couple of hours Minecraft’s

Progression let’s at the point of the game though which is good in some ways it’s simple intui like I mentioned earlier but the only real Divergence from this formula came in 1.20 with the introduction of the upgrade template now hold on it took them over 10 years and 20 major updates

To finally change up the progression it took mojing this long to realize that limiting progression to just Mining Ores over and over gets old what the actual I’ll be honest this I don’t know if this is a controversial opinion or not but I don’t like the newer Minecraft

Updates because again like I list to the reasons why I like Minecraft how to open slate I don’t like the new updates because they they’re they’re adding too much stuff to progression that I don’t like it I would rather add more biomes or more stuff to explore or just more

Items for building instead of adding stuff for progression or all this other stuff right I feel like they’re making the game too much like modded Minecraft where they’re losing the sandbox element to it I think it’s making the game worse that’s just my opinion though template itself is fairly rare

In bastions and extremely deadly fortresses in the depths of the nether using a template on gear causes the template to disappear luckily you could duplicate these but the cost is seven diamonds which can be fairly steep but what price would you pay for the best gear in the game the big issue with

Minecraft’s progression is that none of it is really challenging or engaging I’m not saying I want Minecraft to emulate what Terraria does I like Minecraft I feel like that’s kind of deep down what he wants though in a way like he does spent all that time I might cut some of

Out cu it was he went on for a while but um he spent a lot of time talking about taria’s progression he obviously seems to really like it so I feel like he kind of does want Minecraft to be like that in a way even though he doesn’t want to

Admit stuff you use that stuff to get more stuff and you use that new stuff to get even more stuff it’s very simple to understand this by itself is wait how is he hold on where’s the spoon how did he not get the spoon right where’s the

Fatigue how did he get around that bad but Minecraft’s progression has another big issue is there like something I don’t know about this game that I’m missing how would he not get the fatigue you can get the third best tier of tools within 60 seconds of making a brand new

World that’s nice personally I like that about the game because again if you want to build cool stuff that’s one of the nice things too is if you want to start a new world I don’t want to spend 5 million years to get the best items so I

Could build something cool I just want to build something cool now want is just weirdly okay with this like imagine you’re play testing any game and the devs tell you yeah you can get get the third best gear within almost like a minute great allowing you the ability to

Again the reason why it’s the reason why you playing survival mode too is because it’s fun to work towards getting the blocks because then it feels like what you built took effort more effort to make like it takes effort to build but it takes effort to get the blocks so it

Makes it more fulfilling of the first within an hour or two if you’re look this is great in my opinion that sounds pretty cool on paper but when you realize that there’s not that much depth to getting the second and maybe the first is a little more depth it’s

Incredibly boring a good philosophy desig a game and I’m not a Dev so I’m completely talking out of my ass here uh is that when you have challenges they need to net good rewards so the more challenging an obstacle is the more good the reward needs to be getting the best

You can go anywhere and do anything at any time similarly it’s possible to get the best gear in the game as soon as the world opens up to you theoretically you could head straight to hyro castle with the hardest enemies are though the path to get there is covered with guardians

That can kill you in one shot from dozens of feet away so getting to hyro Castle is difficult at the start of the game but if you’re sneaky enough and knowledgeable of the area you can do it while picking up some really really good weapons along the way you can then use

These weapons to take down a boss within the castle gives you theit it’s interesting he’s using breath of the wild for or tears of the kingom for progression because this is a game people criticize the weapons for all the time best Shield has the progression in this game

If you can do it you’ve earned it you spend hours dying and sneaking your it doesn’t really matter this is interesting he’s using this every sword and arrow you could off them to defeat a pretty powerful boss you’ve earned this with this new shield and other gear

You’ve picked up you can get a head start on some of the shrines or dungeons that you may go through or you can go fight g a skill they want to this is both very challenging and very rewarding Nintendo did kind of ruin this with the

DLC you could just use Majora’s Mask and ruin the experience for yourself the reason I use Majora’s Mask is because Majora’s Mask is my favorite game just trivializing all the stuff I just mentioned but hey is this before tear of the Kingdom the armor in that game is

Once how close a player needs far SP mobs can spawn what the mobs are wearing what tools they are carrying their health status effects names their loot tables and so much more using all these tools I’m able to create unique challenges uh for example on my

Server I make my own dungeons uh by utilizing by changing the NBT data of spawners I have made custom enemies that my players can take on we have everything from Poison skeletons to boss fights that range from oh this isn’t too bad to holy why again it’s good

That he has the option to do this and this is why I think Minecraft’s great is it’s better to give the people the option to do this than to force people to play this way cuz if this is how Minecraft was and you shoved it down

People’s throats a lot of people will be annoyed because the people who play Minecraft and don’t want combat would be really annoyed right so this is why again there’s a reason why this is an option not in the game that fact in my dungeons boss mobs typically have armor

That makes them faster than the average mob for example the dungeon guardian 1 is a pretty basic boss mob it moves 20% faster than the normal zombies do and the guardian 4 Moves 80% faster which is just about the same as a player Sprint speed in addition to the movement Buffs

Their armor and weapons typically have enchantments that make fighting them particularly painful the Guardians 3 and four have thorns on their armor and high protection on the armor as well and just increased health for an added challenge I tend to put skeletons or witches posted up top of the boss rooms to shoot

At Players while they frantically try to outrun the main boss mob it took a lot of trial and error but the only way I’ve been able to accomplish this here’s the thing too here’s the funny thing he didn’t even need to put in like it’s

Great he put in the work to do this and if he likes doing it that’s great but if you don’t want to do this there are people that did it for you right there’s so many different like mods no not just mod packs you literally click a button

This much work because Minecraft’s AI is so awful and it makes creating any challenge extremely no no he’s missing the point it’s because Minecraft is this way then you get to tweak it to how you want it because I guarantee if someone made a different map with their own

Unique stuff the AI wouldn’t work if they if they took his Ai and applied it to their map with the exact settings it wouldn’t work right so that’s why it’s good like there’s this isn’t sing you it’s unreasonable to get mad at Minecraft for this when it’s not a

Universal thing the tools that mojing have given us are effectively offset by how crap the AI is if I had tried to make this work without the use of plugins I couldn’t every single mob can be placed into a boat and made effectively worthless I’ve witnessed it

Happen be fair if you didn’t use plugins you could use mods trap the boss in a boat so that plugins are more user friendly because you not the the player doesn’t have to download anything kill it with zero challenge or effort this abuse of the game’s mechanics is the

Death of any vanilla challenge couple this with a lack of real challenges to begin with and you really begin to see why so many people are bored of the game it’s easy to see why mod if you’re playing Minecraft for the challenge you’re playing the wrong game I’m sorry

What about Minecraft screens challenge this is not the point of the game rlcraft are so popular they make progression meaningful and there’s real if you’re playing rlcraft or played it I feel sorry for you if you want a challenge in Minecraft rlcraft is not the again sa agis in my opinion is one

Of the best out there but yeah RL crap that’s so garbage I if you play RL crap I feel bad for you challenge Mojang’s lackluster use of their watching this and poor hostile mob AI create the perfect storm for a very boring and repetitive experience actually I think

We should talk a little bit more about AI for a minute there’s a lot that goes into this and there’s a lot that could be fixed okay part four bad AI all right the AI is bad we can all agree on this if a skeleton shoots another mob so long

As that mob has not already been hit by the player that mob will turn to attack the skeleton 100% of the time this is cool in theory and even makes for some neat situations where you save yourself skeleton to shoot a creeper and blow up

All the mobs around you but if you say enter a trial chamber and you find yourself in a room with a ton of skeleton SP Minecraft wasn’t designed to be a trial chamber into first place so this is why this issue is existing and this is why I’m against Minecraft trying

To become like modern MC because now they have to add all this other stuff to accommodate and by adding it it’s making all the other stuff that people are making is going to make it harder to make they will all shoot each other to death before you get a chance

To lay a hand on them again this will happen 100% of the time so long as you don’t attack any other mobs first you can let them do all the hard work for you regardless of what difficulty this is great for already has mobs that ignore this Rule pillagers and pigling

Can shoot each other all day and not care they’ll still kill I forgot about raids raids are pretty F an arrow in their head they don’t care you’re the target this is one of the reasons that illers and pigling are some of the most toughest enemies in the game they’re the

Only enemies that begin to pose a real threat to players and as such creat some of the only actual challenges players will face for example instead of Woodland Mansions or during Village raids an evoker can spawn the evoker is a mini boss fight that is genuinely hard

To beat if you don’t have the proper gear or a good sense of what you need to do this is an example of a pretty good boss fight it uses a variety of taxs and when you find one it’s never alone it almost always has other illers around it

To make the fight be fair though the Woodland Mansion isn’t the greatest comparison to use because the Woodland Mansion sucks all right it’s great because you get a bunch of wool but it’s an annoying structure much more difficult and as a reward for taking one

On you get a totem of and dying an item that literally lets you cheat death a worthy reward for sure this is one of those meaningful progression items that and what I love about this too is that if you don’t want to actually do this

You can just make a raid farm and this Farm Toms and dying it’s great I love this lacking illers are probably one of the best examples of progression and challenge that Minecraft has to offer you would think that maybe the final boss would be more challenging but you

Then they do it again that’s how they want to play the game that’s how they enjoy it this isn’t a a problem oh my God what do you do when you’ve reached the top you get bored and you quit or you make a new world like hermitcraft

Difficulty needs to change over it I think that as things if you want a hard experience play hardcore the game should change in substantial ways for example I like the idea of hostile mobs attacking each other however I think as you raise the difficulty the odds of the mobs

Turning on each other should become lower and lower perhaps in easy mode it’s 100% they’ll always turn on each other in normal it goes down to 50 and in hard hardcore it goes down it should just be no it should just be if you this is an issue that enough people have

Should be a setting you could turn on or off just like everything else in Minecraft this would mean that players would actually have to engage with Mobs instead of just letting them kill each other or run the risk of damaging their gear while they pray that the other mobs

Turn on each other but hey durability isn’t really that bad because mending is super easy to get anyway that’s another thing mending is way too easy to to acire and as for the last few things it’s easy but it also takes forever so I mean how easy are want this to change
