Hello everybody and welcome back to another minecraft tutorial today I am going to show you how to build the magic sheep farm we built on the hermit craft server this farm is designed for the automatic shearing of sheep allowing the player to be away from the game and Collect wool the farm takes advantage of the sheeps path finding AI to manipulate them into walking across lots of grass blocks while moving in a big circle as they walk across the grass they eat it and regrow their wool and as they walk around in a circle through the farm they Keep returning to the front where the player can share the Sheep falling down from the top the farm can be expanded vertically or reduced in size to suit the players needs the design is also tileable meaning it can be built side by side to have multiple lanes of sheep the Farm is relatively cheap to build mainly using basic building blocks and cheap materials with the exception of a little bit of redstone and hoppers for the shearing booth so before we start this tutorial I must give credit to youtuber pi who built the original design of this Farm and also came up with the concept of using the sheeps pathfinding to automatically move the sheep through the farm we are in his test mode right now and this is his original farm design I would recommend watching his video if you want to learn more about how the Sheeps pathfinding works and how it was manipulated to make this farm but for now I’m going to show you how to build my modified design so in this tutorial I’m going to show you how to build a single lane of this farm at the moment there are four lanes so we’re just going To be doing the one and it’s going to be the same size so there will be four areas of grass on which the sheep walk and then at the end of the tutorial I’ll talk a little bit about expanding it upwards so you can have a bigger one And also how to build them side by side as well but to build this we are going to need a lot of materials so let’s go through this chest and have a quick look we’ll need around 32 building blocks seven stone slabs then you’ll need around Three and a half stacks of grass of course this can be dirt and then if you can grow the grass onto it it will eventually spread across the entire farm and then you’re going to need around a stack and three quarters of glass now where I’ve used glass on this design is Simply so you can see into the farm and see what’s going on everywhere so glass is not mandatory unless you want to be able to see in side of the farm then you’re going to need 22 carpets and then we’ve got some wooden items here you’ll need four signs A door 12 ladders nine fences and free fence gates and then some of the redstone things we will need are to droppers five hoppers two redstone repeaters two redstone torches four pieces of redstone a lever and then you will need a single chest for the entire Farm and then 50 torches and of course you’ll need a water source so when building a farm of this size we need to take into consideration the amount of space that this is going to use for our first lane we are going to need free blocks of width and then for every Additional Lane that comes after it were only going to need another two then this thing is 26 blocks deep so it stretches all the way back there and it’s about 16 blocks tall so you’re really going to need a lot of land to build this on so Double check and make sure you have enough you’re also going to need a space at the front that is slightly lower and that’s where the redstone goes down there so that’s what we’re going to be building first of all we’re going to start off by making a t-shape like this And then down here we’ll do an upside down T shape and then remove that block and place another one there then we will put a torch on top of that block and then place two repeaters so one of them is going to face into the torch like That and put it on the fourth setting and one of them will face in the opposite direction down here then we’re going to put a torch on the back of this block and then place four pieces of redstone three of them up here one of them down there and then that is our Clock activated so you can see that this torch is turning on and off which might be a little bit annoying so what you can do right now is place a block here and then put a lever on top of it and power that to stop the clock now this is also Going to be the level of the floor so keep that in mind you’re going to need this space back here but this will be where you walk into the farm so the next thing we’re going to do is place a dropper on top of this torch facing Upwards and on top of that another one facing forwards then two hoppers facing into the dropper at the bottom now we’re going to play seven blocks around the front here and these are the seven blocks that I said you would need half slabs for I don’t know how I got it Muddled up but these do not need to be half slabs you can just place seven blocks around the front like this then we’re going to put a door on top of this hopper and now we’re going to put some glass around the side as I already said it’s Optional it doesn’t have to be glass and this is to enclose the area in which the dropper is going to give shears to the player so just place some blocks around the outside like this and then when you get to this one you need to place a Normal block and put a ladder on the side of it and then we’re going to put free blocks on either side like this so there’ll be a gap at the top here for the Sheep to fall down then two blocks on either side at the front here we’re Going to put a chest underneath this glass block and then behind it we’ll have two hoppers facing into it and another one there like that and then last of all we’re going to put two building blocks there and that is another part of this done so this next Part of the farm will be the first stretch of grass that the sheep are going to walk across we are going to start off by placing free grass blocks around the front like this and then two glass blocks on either side with a sign in the middle then we can put our water At the front here this is the water that the sheep are going to fall into before being pushed onto the grass that stretches across it so we’re going to place a grass block at the front and we need to place more of these going all The way to the back now we’re gonna put 15 of these in a row but if you’ve already measured out when you’re building then you can stop two blocks before the end like that and then come around to the other side and then we Need to go all the way back down here so another 15 blocks and then we stop when we get to that bit and then we need to fill in this one as well so bring this all the way to the back when you’ve done that place a fence post here and a block On the other side of it like so and then we need to put in the torches so we need one on either side where the fence post is and then you need to leave two got two blocks and then place another one on either side like that so just count two And then place one two and place one and do that coming all the way back to the end here and this is the last two that you should place so now we’re going to build the ladder that will bring the Sheep up to the second stretch of grass Which will go all the way back to the front there we’re gonna place three blocks like this and put ladders on the front of them and then in front of the one at the top we’re going to place a fence post like that then we’re going to Put some carpets on top of these torches we’re going to put free on the ones on either side and on the second one you just need to place a grass block on the side of it like that same over here and then one behind this fence post now what we’re going to Do is place a ring of grass or glass even around and this top bit like so and then you’re going to put a sign here now earlier I said that you would need free fence gate so you can actually just use signs for that so place a sign there Instead of a fence gate and then put a bucket of water back there so it flows across like so now what we need to do is stretch the grass all the way over here by placing lots of blocks so it goes all the way back there do the same thing on This side as well and then do the same thing in the middle but of course we’re going to stop a little bit earlier so let’s have a look we need one more of those we’re gonna put a fence there and then some stone bricks behind it and Then once that’s in place we’re going to put down some torches so these need to be above the ones directly below it although there wasn’t one over here so we’ll have one there as well so we’ll go across and place all of those torches that one’s in the wrong place and then The end there’s just carpet and then do the same thing on the other side so now we’re going to build another sheep bladder at the front this one is going to be slightly different because we have this sheep dropping down behind it so like before we’ve got our blocks with Ladders on the front and then we’re going to place a fence post in front of it like that and then put our carpets on either side above the torches and then place our grass blocks alongside them which can be a little bit finicky there we go like That and now we want to place our glass around the frontier remember to put a sign at the front instead of a fence gate and then around the back here I’m just going to put some blocks like that and then remove those too so now we want To do is put the glass going all the way down to the bottom this is so that the sheep falling down don’t escape out of there and then at the back here we want a sign on this glass block so the water won’t flow back down into the hole so Then you can place a water block there and you’re also going to need some stone bricks directly above it which is something I forgot to do down the end here as well so place stone bricks stone bricks like that on top of that water now We want to do is bring all the graphs down to the front so now that we bought the grass up to wear the glasses we want to place three blocks on either side then two in the middle with a fence post and then some stone bricks and then we Need to place down our torches again so just like before keep placing them with two blocks in between so we’re doing it again it’s getting very repetitive now we’re going to build another one of these in fact I’m going to jump forward and show you this when it’s done because You’ve seen it done already a few times so that’s another section right there built exactly the same as the one down here and I should point out at this time if you wanted to make your farm bigger than the one that we have over there then you would continue with the step That we did here to build this little section you would build that on top of here and that would send the Sheep back across but what we’re going to do is build the same thing again but it’s going to be slightly different this time so that the sheep will be sent over the Top and they’ll fall down into this hole right here so we’re going to place three blocks again with our free ladders and then at the top here we’re going to put our fence post and put another one on top of it like that and then we’re gonna Have our carpets on top of the torches we’ve got for a second there what I was doing there we go and then we’ll have our grass again it’s very important that you have this even though the sheep are going over the top and back down because it’s going to keep The Sheep enclosed in this area right here to bring that all the way back including along the middle and these are going to need torches on top of them as well just bring it all the way back here until that lines up with the stone bricks so Just like that and then place your torches on it so this last step is going to be very simple however I made it a little bit of a mistake here we don’t need this extra ladder and stone bricks over the top there but what we do need To do is bring this glass all the way up to the same height like so and then place two glass blocks alongside these fence posts and bring them all the way back and then on this block right here you want to place a sign to place it on The back side and that’s of course to stop the water from flowing down here to where our sheep are going to drop and then last of all we’re going to put some glass on top of the fence post and then put our water in place so the water needs to be directly Above the ladder so put it on the side of this block right here which you can do by peering in through the fence post like that and now the water is going to flow back across and then when the sheep are going to make their way up this Ladder they’re going to get pushed around and fall back down to the bottom again so as soon as I spawn in some sheep they will start walking in the right directions and nudging each other along and you can see some of them and made their way to the top and fallen Back down to the bottom again which shows us that we have built a working farm so I’ve already explained how to make this farm bigger in terms of making it taller but if you wanted to make it wider and have multiple lanes for the Sheep then you would need to copy what You built here and build it to the side now if you have a look at this lane right here is exactly the same as the one on the other side with the exception of this chest and that means when you build another one alongside it you only Need to build this Lane and that one again so you have a look here you’ve got that Lane and that Lane and then you just build those two because you’ve got one of these on the outside of each of the lanes where the sheep are so this means when you’re going to build It that you could follow the tutorial all over again or you could just copy what you see here so as you’ve built one of these already you could look at what’s in this lane of blocks and just build it there and then do the same thing for that one when you’re building This one and that would be a very good and easy way of expanding your farm another thing to note if you’re thinking about adding more lanes to this is that the chest at the front is collecting all of your wall so if you’re going to add More lanes or you’re ever going to need your hoppers to do is to face into the ones in front of them like this so you’re never going to need another chest so if you haven’t seen or used this farm before then this booth at the front is An item refilling booster the way you reduce this is you would put all your shears into these hoppers so it’ll fill up the dropper of the front and then you would fill your inventory up with blocks so that you’d only pick one up if you had a free space in your inventory so Then you can activate the clock and it is going to regularly fire these shears at you but if your inventory is full then it’s just going to get picked up by the hoppers at the bottom and then cycled again so when you finished using one of these on Sheep it’s going to automatically put a new one into your inventory so last of all there are a couple more things to talk about here one of the questions that will be commonly asked is how do you get the sheep inside of the farm well there is no clever way of doing This really you have to get a bunch of sheep inside a pen and then you have to make a hole somewhere like maybe on the side here and lure them in and you want to try and do that before your sheep already in the farm because if one of The sheep now falls down from the top it can possibly land on the side here another good place to put the sheep in if you can get them up here is at the top because the sheep can’t escape from this bit and then you can lure them Around to this area and just nudge the sheep in that level right there so two last things to talk about with this farm first of all the amount of sheep inside the farm and second of all the color of the Sheep so at the moment we have 16 in This farm right here I have 16 on hermitcraft and that seems to work just about fine I probably wouldn’t put any more than 24 in a farm at this size however the more you put in the more grass they’re going to be eating and that means that it takes more time for The dirt to grow back to grass so the more sheep that you have in there it means that some of them going around may not get a chance to eat grass as they’re making their way around and then more sheep will drop down from the top without having regrown their wool now When it comes to color what I did was put an equal amount of each color into each of the farms however if you were to put more white sheep into your farm it does give you the option of dyeing the wool once you’ve already got it into a Different color which gives you a little bit more flexibility but it’s definitely something to consider when you’re thinking about what color sheep’s you want to put into your farm and so that concludes this minecraft tutorial there is a weld download in the description box and if you wanted to leave a like on This video it will and truly be appreciate it took me a very long time to record this tutorial as I’m sure you can imagine and if you want to check out me building this on the home at craft server I would well and truly recommend watching those episodes it was a lot of Fun to build this farm and it turned out to be a really great one but that is it for this tutorial video so as always thank you very much for watching and I will catch you next time Video Information
