Today’s how to build is on different scales of minecraft creepers and steves so the first thing i want to talk about is the scale of minecraft creations in lego so those of you who have the official minecraft set will know that it comes with this little version of steve which is Seven plates tall and also a creeper which is uh seven plates tall two brick and one plate and the reason that lego uh did the minecraft set the way they did is because they wanted to have a consistent scale they said for the minecraft bricks which they Have as being a plate plus a tile tall so this would be a gla a grass brick in that minecraft set um however those of you who play minecraft and know a little bit about the sizes of characters will realize that compared to the minecraft brick steve And the creeper are about twice as big as they should be in minecraft steve is two blocks high but if we line this block up next to steve we see he is one two three three and a half bricks high so if we wanted to have a consistent Scale for the minecraft set that lego put out if we use this block height as our actual height this is what i think steve should look like in the set um he’s four plates high you know a blue a light blue a tan then a brown tile on his head so He’s about half the size that he is there and that makes him the same size as the bricks and then he can fit in his house that’s in that set things like that um looking at the creeper um this was the design i did for creeper here To be consistent with steve so i wanted to get a little bit of the shape of the creeper in there so this is a one by one tile one by one plate with a round handle on the end turn it size ways and put another tile On it so that allows you to have sort of the square face of the creeper and you see the head is a little bit wider than the body there so it’s not a perfect size but it looks pretty good next to this guy um and while obviously you lose the cool Tile print the cool printing on the bricks here you could obviously go in and do some things with a marker there if you wanted to so that um to me would be the appropriate scaled steven creeper for the minecraft lego set now going up to the level that most People think about lego is obviously sort of mini-fig um so then the next level uh the up for the brick size would be you know two by two studs wide um and if you know the sort of geometries of lego you know to make a perfect cube something that is two by two Uh studs should be five plates tall with tile on as the top level um that gets into sort of the the ratio of the height to the width of a brick um which is about uh five to six and you’ll notice that if you um Stack up a bunch of bricks you can see that but um so yeah so here i’ve done a a grass brick at the two by two scale so that’s just a two by two brick uh in brown on the bottom and then i’ve got a one by one in green Uh one by two in lime and another one by one in green because those were the plates that i had at that scale got a lime one by one tile one by two and one by one and green if i had another lime i’d do that But yeah that gets you some of the variation in the greens that exist um that’s roughly to the scale of a mini-fig it’s not perfect he’s a little bit taller than he should be for this brick but if you want to be using mini-fig scale minecraft creations that’s about so Here’s what i would put as a creeper at that scale if you had a perfectly green torso that might be better um but i just had the space police one which just kind of decent so you start with a green torso put a two by two brick on the top you Could cover that with tiles if you want a 1 by 2 brick here a 2 by 3 plate if you have it otherwise i’m using two 1 by 3 plates and then this is two 1 by 2 plates stacked on top of each other for the legs and those are about um Creepers a little bit taller than steve here but it’s a pretty good size you could shorten this down to two plates if you really wanted to but this was just a quick and easy way to make a creeper again you could draw the face on there um you know the problem with the Creepers is that in the game they’re a big mixture of lime and dark green uh i just chose to stick with dark green because it’s easier here um but now if you want to move up to a even more detailed scale um so this is if we have a three by three block As um sort of the the base minecraft block um now i’ve made this block seven plates tall um which isn’t a perfect cube but it’s pretty close we’re gonna start with a two by three brick and a one by three three brick in brown then do a one by three And two by three plate and brown same thing on the next level except i didn’t have a one by three plates i’m using one by one and one by two and then we’re gonna top that off with some mix uh green and lime pieces in here so do that that way Just like that it’s a 1 by 3 1 by 2 1 by 2 one by one and one by one you know you can use whatever you’ve got there and then on the top i’m using a two by two in green some one by twos in lime and a one by two So you just want to have um you know variation around the top and that’s your three by three brick so now let’s build our steve at this scale so i’m going to start with some minifig legs here because they’re just so good at having those hips there The legs are a little smaller than they should be so i’m propping them up with some one by one plates on the bottom so for uh to connect his body uh you could do a one by two brick here but um it’s a little bit taller than i want So i’m using these uh one by one headlight bricks in medium blue putting that down and then again um headlight bricks pointing off to each side and topping that off with a 1 by 2 with a single stud and i had to order a lot of these parts from Bricklink since medium blue is a rare color i’m putting a two by two tile in the front to hide that and give them a little little bit of a belly on each side for the arms doing two 1 by 1 plates medium blue and then this is a 1 by 2 Tan with a 1 by 1 tile and a 1 by 2 tile unfortunately you know if we wanted to be super accurate about his uh arm and sleeve color the the blue should come out to there and cover that whole top but there was no way for these pieces to Actually be connected and the colors to be right so had to make a little trade-off there same arm on the other side these have nice movements um you know if you wanted to have him have tools you could sort of build those onto his hand at the end I didn’t choose to do that for this uh model though um then for the head this is pretty simple two by two tan brick 1 by 2 tan plate 1 by 2 brown plate and a two by two brown for the top steve and again you can see that uh His height relative to the bricks he’s a little bit taller than he should be but pretty close uh and i think he looks good uh the creeper i did at the scale so this is basically the same creeper i did um for my previous creeper and minecraft steve video except i’ve Really changed the colors up on the creeper and i also got some new things for the legs here so let’s take this apart so starting down at the bottom these are 1 by 2 plates with long handles on the side connected by some jumper plates using dark green here because that’s What i had or sorry this is regular green um for each of the legs uh this was the only green uh one by one with clip on top i could find on bricklink it’s in a weird green i think it’s called like super light green just piece doesn’t really exist in most Greens and then i’ve got a lime circle because i don’t have any square lime plates and a square green plate so some of them i did full lime that one i had you can mix it up again the way the creeper looks in minecraft it’s a little modeled mottled So ideally there’d be some black on the front here but you know we can’t be super perfect with our models at this scale um then this level you know we’re going to build this up uh two three four sort of six plates tall here which is two bricks So i did a one by two in lime and then you know this is just alternating lime and regular green for four the opposite on the other side and then a jumper plate in regular green on the top here for the head start with a two by two plate i’m using lime you Could use dark green again the mouth just have to do is a straight line here so that’s a 1 by 2 plate in black the back of the head is again going to alternate so that’s a 1 by 2 plate alternating one by one plates for two Levels and another one by one plate on the back um in the front we’re going to have these headlight bricks so this is a headlight brick i put a 1×1 round plate in the front or sorry in the back um two of those now the thing about putting a headlight Brick like this is that they actually push the things out behind them a little bit so you can’t have a perfect um perfectly close that like you normally would but that’s okay in this situation and then i’ve got some one by one tiles in lime and regular green to do The top model like i wanted to do that uh that grass bird before this is where i used all my little one by one tiles so you can see they don’t fit together perfectly at the top but that’s okay because it looks good so yeah um i think that’s a pretty good Version of the creeper at this scale um again using some variations in green to sort of really pull out what the the color of the creeper is and you know as long as it explodes it’s a good creeper so that’s all that really matters so we got steve creeper there’s brick and again Whatever scale you want to use for your minecraft creations i hope this will get you started obviously some people build them really big um you know like with full bricks but in terms of actually building a full world you need to move down to a smaller scale like this um So there we go have them all lined up minecraft steve’s creepers and bricks [Applause] Oh i’ve started on an enderman i got the head done um you know it’ll probably end up being like the steve but taller um purple eyes it’s you know just a two by two construction this is the angry mouth version um you know i think the regular would just be uh That but uh i’ll i’ll keep working on that because i know people want enderman and all the other mobs but this is what i’ve got so far so i hope you enjoy this and uh stay tuned for future how to
