Project Zomboy is a game filled with creativity in all facets of its Community whether it be from the vast amounts of different servers all the way from role play to full-on PVP unique challenges set by the community meant to test the most veteran of players or from the frankly massive modding scene that The game has available to all players less obvious and less talked about though is the creativity that comes with the power of admin controls every month on our community server the admins set to work on a server-wide event for the bonus of an extra slice of bread in their weekly rations overworked and Underpaid they work tirelessly to provide a new experience every single month the admin tools available allow them to build settlements to defend unique puzzles or areas to explore and in this particular instance it was a gigantic hedge maze the other players and I were gathered at A meeting point on one side of the maze to hear the rules which fortunately for my limited intelligence were pretty simple we could take any supplies we needed from the Gathering point and enter the maze the first to reach the end would receive a reward and of course There was to be no breaking down the hedges themselves building over them or otherwise cheesing your way through by non-intended means now I’ll be honest I wanted to win this event there may or may not have been an incident at the last event that I attended where I died First so my community already thought I was worthless at the game and I needed to prove them wrong easy right when the gates opened I flew into the maze at speed with a wave of confidence behind me determined to show the lowly peasantry that were my paying patrons who possessed the superior puzzle Solving ability things actually started off pretty good I was a whirling dervish of speed and skill as I pushed further into the maze it wasn’t long though before I realized that other players were ahead of me and I was venturing into parts of the maze that were Ultimately designed to lull me into a false sense of security pushing deeper into dead end after dead end I couldn’t get over how vast the maze was panning my camera to the edges of my screen simply showed row after row of Hedges with no end in sight it was still early Though and through a bit of trial and error I started to make real progress and uncover some of the more unique sites constructed by my admins like a toilet in the middle of the lake Yes you heard that right I don’t want to think where that goes after a flush oh and if That wasn’t good enough I found a gnome to take with me on my travels too my victory would be his victory now I gotta hand it to my admins they know how to make a maze because as time went on I was getting increasingly lost and things Were only getting worse as I realized that I was losing and badly all was not lost so not yet at least I could see the edge of the maze as I pan my camera around which meant that I had made progress and the end was in sight I Started planning my roots before moving something I’d neglected to do up until this point which reduced the amount of dead ends I was running into I also started to realize that sprouting from each Lake and unique setting one of the paths leaving the lake would get me Further into the maze I just had to find out which one it was each time with my new techniques employed I began to master the art of maze pathfinding digging deeper into the Maze and closer towards the Finish Line I could hear the sounds of other lost survivors behind me Catching glimpses at the edge of my camera’s Vision I was overwhelmed with confidence this would be it the event that I redeemed myself as a project zomboid Master when suddenly the Finish Line my heart sank realizing that not only had I not won the race there were more players or already there disaster Had struck and once again I would be the laughing stock of the server but hope yet remained in some small part that I wouldn’t be last to cross the line much struggling and getting lost in shude from here on but eventually I made it to the finish line behind mazunda the Player who I’d pushed aside in a burst of speed when entering the maze it was a hard pill to swallow to say the least my confidence had gotten the better of me but to remedy that wound I was given a t-shirt with a duck on it a salve to the Most Grievous of injuries my participation award oh and also I was informed that two other players were still lost in the Maze so at least I wasn’t last I suppose my gnome and me had escaped the maze if you enjoyed
