When i released the mangrove swamp episode i was really surprised to see that a lot of people requested the regular og swamp as well of course as someone who has played minecraft for well over a decade i am more than happy to oblige this biome is great too Because it features a number of pretty unique mobs within the game and some unique colors that we haven’t seen yet at first glance this biome might be simple but i think we’re gonna make it something really special today so without further ado let’s get building To give this biome some proper breathing room i am going to make a full chunk that is 32 by 32 studs or 16 by 16 blocks in the game for this biome to take up that’s the same size as the village we did back in episode three so Pretty chunky that means there’ll be plenty of room for witch hut a few trees water and all the mobs i want to populate this thing with in order to capture the unique watercolor that this biome has i’m going to lay down a layer of green plates beneath everything that Should give the water a greener hue even when i put the 1×2 trans blue tiles on top of it and yes we’re bringing out that lovely bag of trans blue tiles again i no longer have the 1200 that i started out with but we are by no means hurting at This point either and boy oh boy that tiling process never gets old [Applause] I’ll be putting down a few 1×2 plates as well of course on top of those we’ll be placing lily pads just like we did in the mangrove swamp I’ll fill in the gaps the water with dirt and then i’m going to mark out the place where i want to put the witch hut and then i’m going to mark out two locations for trees just so i don’t tile over these later because there’s a lot of tiling to do Step one is going to be leaving some room for sugar cane though just simply leaving a two by two corner plates worth of space to put sugar cane on top the sugar cane design i’m going to be using is the same one i introduced in episode 10 with a savannah bio on the outsides of this chunk i’m going to blend the grass out into our regular plains green but on the inside for the swamp color of green itself i’m going to be using dark green most of these bricks i picked up from lego pick-a-brick purchasing a Number of jumpers and 2×2 tiles as well i love the dark green color of this bomb it’s really going to stand out compared to even the mangrove swamp right next to it which is really cool to see When it comes to this biomes plant life the swamp would not be complete without some blue orchids i’m simply using medium blue flowers since unfortunately flowers aren’t made in medium azure which i feel would be the perfect color this is still a pretty close match and still quite recognizable i’ll be dotting Tall grass all over the place as well as that generates all across this biome I’m definitely liking the vibe so far and i think the green underneath the water works pretty well it’s definitely going to stand out from the other water sections that i’ve done so far i’ll dot that sugar cane around and then i’m going to get to work on the tree Tree utilizes a lot of the same techniques that i’ve used throughout this series the main goal is to make sure that there are no visible studs or anti-studs so that involves a lot of snot construction studs not on top around the base making sure that’s all going to look flat because these trees Are pretty tall and it will be easy to see underneath them i’m mixing in one by one trans dark green round plates in here just to add some additional texture to the leaves i was surprised to find that these trees are actually quite different from oak trees And that they are seven by seven blocks instead of your typical five by five blocks so they do take up a lot more surface area for vines i’m going to be using lego’s official design just using 1 by 2 plates instead of 2×2 corner plates because they don’t exist in dark Green that i’m aware of So the next step is going to be making the witch hut now the witch hut is a pretty uninteresting structure by itself it is completely brown so what i want to do is add some texture to it so i can remain faithful in the color scheme but still make it look a little More interesting so i’m making use of a number of 1×2 profile bricks to make that happen i’ll be using vertical striped ones for logs and i’ll be using the alternate side of a masonry brick to make the spruce planks alternating those masonry bricks with regular reddish brown plates gives a Pretty consistent plank-like texture that i can use for the witch hut the rest of the thing is pretty simple it sits cleanly on top of the oak log supports i’ve made and then on the inside we’ll be placing a cauldron a crafting table and then a potted mushroom in the window Outside on the balcony i made sure that was all snot construction so that it’s smooth again on the underside and the same thing for the stair roof overhead i’ve used brackets here just like i have many times to get that perfect game accurate stair and then the roof of the thing came Together surprisingly quickly i want the main middle section to be removable so you can still access the inside of course the witch is far too tall to fit in there because of the hat so you can now open it up i’ve got two jumpers on top where i’ll eventually put the black Cat i’m very satisfied with this for something that is pretty much all the one color it still looks pretty good of course i have to include the witch from the original witch hut set and then thankfully lego just introduced the black cat in the abandoned village set i Think it’s a good place to put a skeleton under the tree and then i’ve got to use the big slime from the mountain cave set as well as some of the smaller slimes that were also included in the witch hut set so we are really filling this thing up with mobs but we Have a lot of room also put a family of pigs because why not you can get a lot of passive mobs spawning in this biome this seems like a great place to put them in as the whole idea of this display is to showcase what the lego Minecraft line has to offer as you probably noticed earlier in the video this does directly connect to the mangrove swamp module that i did a few episodes back that’s the only one it connects to at this point but eventually we’re gonna continue to fill in those Gaps and really flesh out this world and yeah that’s our swamp next episode is the long awaited ice spikes while my original plans for this module were pretty humble that is no longer the case this is by far the bulkiest module in the entire custom lego minecraft display including Multiple ice spikes and igloo with the creepy basement underneath a new custom polar bear design and much more if you want to see this episode early
