Recently, I happened to notice that the top texture of the crafter looks a lot like a keypad. This gave me the idea to see how it could perform as a combination lock design. Not to mention, it gives off a comparator output based on which slots are selected and can be done all in the UI of a single block.
Regarding the mechanisms, the blue circuit simply takes the crafter output and sends a signal after a certain amount of time has passed in which the player has finished entering the intended value. In the case of this video, these values would be 2, 4, 6, 8, 5. You could also just have a button underneath the crafter to manually submit the entries. There are also note blocks which notify the player accordingly.
The larger circuit that processes the entries is not my design, that credit goes to CraftyMasterman’s sequential button combination lock; however, I did make a few adjustments to get the crafter’s outputs to work with it.
Obviously, there are several other factors that are involved in this system, and I have not added any preventative lock to prevent the player from inserting items into the crafter (although this could likely be fixed with a hopper underneath).
I’m also aware that this system could be made much smaller, as there are many sequential lock designs out there that work the same and are much more compact, so feel free to edit this concept on your own time or ask any questions you may have.
