Hey guys and welcome back to create above and beyond last time we visited the end in order to build this crazy contraption here which ultimately gives us interior nuggets and also these abstruse mechanisms while also finishing off chapter three in our quest book here so we left off last episode trying to Decide how we wanted to progress through the chapters and we have basically two options right we can either do the alchemy route or we can go through this quest line here and the comments on last episode seem pretty split actually but ultimately i think we’re gonna do Alchemy i really want to try to see how this system works i think it’s gonna be a lot of fun to learn this but we may go back and also do chapter four as well we’ll see okay where do we even begin in this quest chapter though is is the question I mean i guess we start with these machines okay so we need a fluid encapsulator reagent extractor and we are sure a little bit of signaling for the last machine which is going to be the centrifugal separator all right machines acquired but we do need somewhere to set up our alchemy and I’m thinking that we actually set up underground maybe opposite our flywheels all right so i think underneath our factory floor next to the flywheels is going to be a good spot for the alchemy setup so just really quickly here we have an inner chest to supply silver coins which we’re supplying numismatic Dynamos these uh all have the resonant upgrade kits in them and we’re now also using the high extraction module which is super quick here i don’t know if it’s faster than max upgraded conduits but i mean it’s fast to supply the silver coins to this thing but yeah those dynamos are powered in The three machines that we just crafted plus an induction smelter i added and also a magma crucible all right so i think we’re ready to jump right in here so there’s a few different paths we could take here uh don’t think it really matters which one we start with these Are basically in groups so vertically these ones these catalysts here will ultimately make these igneous catalysts then these ones will make the herbal then volatile crystalline metallurgic and gemstone and then some combination of these ones make the final chaos catalyst and this is what we need For silicon reagent so right so this is our ultimate goal here is to make silicon so i guess we start left to right here we’re in the research and development phase of this so we need a bunch of these reagents or as you might imagine at least all of the Base ones we have to make in the fluid encapsulator so this is also connected to a magma crucible here we are importing sand from an ender chest the ender chest is connected to this one here which also pulls sun from the drawer controller this is where we are Turning our cobblestone into sand clay and flint and then on the magma crucible we are automatically inputting from the left to give us sand and this will melt into molten glass and is then pushed into the fluid encapsulator and now we just have to put in our catalyst and This will automatically give us the reagent out the other side although it might be worth buffering molten glass maybe we should put a tank in between here yeah i think we’ll invest in one of these fluid cells from thermal we can uh hold 32 000 millibuckets with this that Does mean we’ll have to move some things around over here though all right so that gives us a bigger buffer of molten glass to work with so that we can process more of these reagents at once so we got our diorite reagent we also need andesite cobblestone stone granite gabriel and Also basalt and we don’t have any way to generate basalt so i think we’ll add in another barrel on the left side of this fluid encapsulator and then set this to automatically input from the left so that we can batch craft these materials while we’re away so as far as i can tell We don’t need a whole lot of this basalt so i think we’ll just mine it from the nether but if it turns out we need like loads and loads of this oh going again careful if it turns out we need a lot of this then we will be automating it oh that Guy is dangerous run all right so now at least with one of each of the reagents we can unlock this igneous catalyst quest which is where some of the randomness comes in right so and this is where actually it also depends on your world seed so to get our Igneous catalyst we have to find the right combination of these reagents and the combination has to go in this minecart hopper connected to a laser lamp on an invar machine and then stamped by the player so for example if we take granite then stone this is just A random order this is a random guess so granite stone diorite gabriel basalt and we activate this deployer that’s going to send the laser energy into the hopper oh wait a second yeah it just has to be four reagents we had five in there but now we can see we get a Mundane alchemic blend and this blend we take over to the centrifugal separator and this is going to tell us if this is the correct order or not i would be very very surprised if we got it first time aha so we got two ash from that and also Two redstone dust so the ash signifies that there is two reagents that are out of place are just incorrect and do not belong in the formula but it doesn’t tell us which one obviously and the redstone means that there is two of the correct reagents but they’re in the Wrong slot right so if we put them if we were to change the order of this then whatever two reagents the uh the redstone belongs to means that it was the correct reagent i hope that kind of makes sense but the other option that we can get from the separator is also Glowstone let’s try again with just another random order and just see what we get this time and this time it gives us two ash which means there’s still two reagents that don’t belong there one redstone dust which means that there’s a reagent that belongs but is in the wrong slot and one Glowstone which means there is one reagent in the correct slot and the trick is to match all four reagents to their correct slot and the minecart hopper and we need to do this many many more times so so yeah i hope this basic explanation of this alchemy made Sense but you basically have to do this for each of the different types of catalysts to find the recipe i’m going to try to see if i can at least get this first one for igneous and then there is some other interesting challenges of materials we’re going to have to find For these other ones though for example arcane crystal i have no idea how we’re going to get this we may have to go mining again actually i don’t think we can trade for this though oh no guys this is just as i feared we have some bad news So you know the arcane crystals that we were talking about earlier on as far as i can tell there’s just no way for us to farm this and the output of the separator recipe is given as one glowstone dust which means that it takes at least one of these dusts per catalyst And if later on we go to fully automate this then uh yeah we’re gonna not have enough arcane crystal dust which means that our dreams of alchemy are over i managed to actually get the metallurgic and the igneous these weren’t too bad but you know when things Don’t work out it’s all about how you adapt and how we pivot so in light of this news we’re going to pivot into chapter four and we’re going to go for the traditional create route for this so this whole process right here is going to start with some more Sand processing i mean i guess we could start with any one of these but we’re going to go for the sand first of all so we do of course have sand philly automated here and conveniently we have already set up this inner jest which was supposed to be for our alchemy but we Are going to repurpose it for this setup here so we also need a water source for this we are trying to create these balls of sand we can bulk wash from sandstone but this requires crafting first of all so i think it’s going to be a lot easier to Just use the fluid encapsulator and i think we can put our ender chest on top give this machine an upgrade to allow it to automatically input from the top which should pull the sand inside the next thing we need here is rotational power actually for this mechanical pump so we are going to Extend along this main main line here that we’ve got from our flywheels we may have to turn a few more of those guys on i have i think only two or three running right now but this we can extend over and i may actually hold off on rooting it into This little chunk here as obviously there’s going to be many more belts and things that we can grab from but rf power here is another thing we have to think about for our rf consuming machines and i think we’re going to continue to use these magmatic dynamos With uh along with our ender tank with lava it’s just far too powerful not to use that so i think we’ll do this actually underneath and maybe we’ll route all the lava underneath the floor okay so i managed to get the first little prototype of this idea going the next Step after we uh fluid encapsulate or the sand is well we get balls of sand which then have to be item drained and the item drain gives us two resources we get the sand chunks which we’ll need later on in the induction smeller and we also get a liquid fine sand which we Have to compact in one of the last steps for silicon compound here so we really we’re after both of these by-products but since we learned these item drains are fairly slow i think we’re gonna split it up like we did with the paintballs over here and we’ll somehow Split up these sandballs um probably using some brass tunnels and then have multiple of these item drains really just for faster throughput and we can also upgrade this machine as well i don’t think our rate of sand is going to be any issue to be honest All right so first step with the sand is almost complete i mean we have the foundations in place i would say so some things have been moved but it’s pretty much the same setup you have a the sand coming in from the inner chest being pulled into the fluid encapsulator Which gives us balls of sand they are being buffered in this drawer it’s always good to build in buffers to your setups so i i mean either way it’s round robined by this brass tunnel sent onto three different belts and then item drained into fine sand which currently Is going nowhere we’re just throwing it in a tank and then the sand chunks are being imported into drawer controller slaves and then the middle one being a drawer controller just so that it puts it all into one inventory i thought this would be uh the cleanest way to do this To be honest but um from there the sand chunks then have to be induction smelted with earth charges which i think is going to be our next step here and that looks like it is the left hand side of this quest line so for this we’re going to need basalt so yeah I guess after all we do have to automate this however in order for us to get basalt we’re gonna need ice and in fact i think it’s gonna be packed ice in the end but we don’t have silk touch so uh trade stations to the rescue once again And i think we can just combine this craft into yeah into packed ice and then compact once again into blue ice and this blue ice here is part of one of the conditions for this igneous extruder so we have to place soil soil underneath igneous extruder on top and then blue Ice and also lava on the opposite side so once we place this lava it should start generating basalt for us yeah nice so this is where things get a little interesting actually however from the basalt we need to make brussels shards and from what i understand we have to do This by using the alchemical laser similar to what we’ve done with the alchemy setup below only this time it has to be automated right so we need to i think we have to make use of some of these minecart loaders again minecart unloader i guess we place it this side Since this will be what we use to extract the final product and then we’ll have two minecart loaders as part of this contraption we also have to fill a charged fluxo magnet which has to be inside the main car along with basalt for it to transform So to deal with all of those conditions um i’ve built this new contraption and it’s been through many different iterations by now so to start with i move the two minecart loaders which are these two block spaces here and the unloader here is the one on the left From the ignis extruder we’re taking all of the basalt via this brass item pipe which has a retrieval module on there to request all of the basalt that is then buffered in this drawer which in fact will need a void upgrade in there and then underneath the drawer is a hopper Leading into the minecart loader and so the settings on this loader are pretty important actually we have this set to output a redstone signal which will send a signal to this powered locking rail which locks the minecart in place so once it has basalt it’s sent to the item laser which is Not running right now we have this turned off but yeah this is the the same setup we used for alchemy we have a deployer punching an invar machine and then this is connected to the laser lamp on the other side here we have a timer right now it’s set to two seconds and Also an adjustable repair so what the repeater here does if we turn this back on every time you give the this repair a redstone signal it will output however many ticks you specify here right now i’ve got this set to four but this may change oh So yeah once it transforms it will go over the unloader so the unloader will actually pull out all items which is how we’ve ended up with some basalt in here and in fact because of the timings on this thing it does sometimes fail and in That case we do get some basalt here we want to always make sure that there is space for the magnet to be placed we have to extract the basalt here which is then taken via this brass item pipe and put back in the drawer which is Why it’s essential for us to have the void upgrade on there we always want somewhere for this brass to go from this unloader although it does appear to be stuck right now i don’t know what the deal with that is is it maybe just too slow but anyways this unloader also Unloads the magnet which is charged in the infuser and then put back into the first loader here which loads the magnet in the hopper and then the cycle just repeats and then at the end of this we have this drawer buffering our basal shorts and we’re already up to 23 stacks Of these things so i don’t think speed on this thing is going to be any issue we do still have to figure out the power though for this dynamo and also this one here for the sand but i guess we’ll do power at the end so now that we have our basal shards We have to process these to the next step which is just to crush them into powder and we can either use the polarizer for this or the crushing wheels but i’m leaning towards using crushing wheels because i don’t know they look a lot cooler that’s literally the only reason so We’re going to use crushing wheels for this we’ll need a drawer for the or now drawer a belt for the output in fact we should lock this drawer just in case so we’ll put a funnel from the output of the drawer which will put all the charge On the belt and then we have to get all of this spinning but from there the basal’s powder you have to compact into earth charges so i guess we just send all this straight into a basin i don’t know if i have a basin over here my inventory is a mess There’s just working chests everywhere let’s see if i remember the recipe for the basin i think it’s five and a side alloy yes it is nice so i think to make this easier we’re gonna raise the basin off the floor one block then we can put our press on top Once again have to give this thing power which is a whole other challenge in and of itself but we don’t want it to output this way which means i think we need a funnel on the side that should mark this as the input and then the output from This the earth charges is what we use in the induction smelter with the sand chunks which are right here so i think actually i’m going to move this induction smelter over which is why i didn’t want to hook up everything because i knew most of this stuff was going to Get moved so we somehow have to get these sand chunks and the output of this basin together so i think we’ll send over to the left-hand side here so the output of the basin will be put on the belt and then we can have a second belt Which feeds into this one like so and then a shoot underneath and i think it’s fine if we have this on the drawer controller since there’s only ever going to be one drawer on this network so we should only end up with sand chunks on this belt and then we can place the Induction smelter right here on the intersection and then just funnels on each side i think or maybe we should buffer in a drawer i think that’s not a bad idea either all right so in theory this should work if we give everything power and now that these lines for the shafts are finalized We absolutely have to switch this out for stone brick i feel better after it it has to be stone brick we can’t leave it this massive diorite and things even though nobody is going to see it but i mean okay so we got all the belts spinning i Uh managed to get enough gear boxes here to get everything spinning the right way next let’s look at getting these magmatic dynamos online maybe instead of trying to mess with just one ender tank we just did two that’s probably going to be our best bet actually yeah so the first one here for The infuser is going to be easy right we can just place this on top of the dynamo and then automatically output easy setup for that one and in fact we could probably just do the same thing for this one these things i find are harder to place in 116 than They were in 112 but yeah we can just enter tank on top of this and that gives this induction smelter power and then this one here you can do the ender chest on below and then input from the bottom instead which should still pull the sand In yeah the animal on top that’s the wrong way and then ender chest on top of that okay so is this thing running now oh we don’t have water in this anymore we need to power this pump one more cog here should fix the problem and we have to Flip this the right way awesome so this machine should be in water there we go it took a little second but yeah we’re getting balls of sand out we’ll have to specify left as the output puts it into the drawer gets drained here oh but these item drains are now full Oh one problem after the other okay so for now we will just buffer into this tank just so that we can see the rest of the system working but again we do actually want this fine sand we have to use it later on and from here we get what silicon compound i think Oh no we get purified sand from this that’s right so we can lock this in the drawer and also pick out for the quest all right so we’re halfway done are halfway there next we have to look at the other side of this tree so this Other side here is going to start in a very similar fashion to the basalt we have to produce snowballs which we can do in the blast chiller and then once we have the snowballs we have to make blizz cubes which is done in the alchemical laser along with the entropy manipulator yeah You might be able to see where we’re going with this but we basically have to duplicate the cell only instead of using basalt we’re going to be using snowballs and an entropay manipulator instead of fluxo magnet okay is this thing gonna work i i think i’ve got everything in place here There’s a couple of changes which we’ll go over but i believe if we switch this deployer over to i don’t know punch mode to activate our laser oh yeah nice okay so the first change we have instead of the igneous extruder for basalt we are now using a blast chiller With the ball cast on there for snowballs and so for that that also does take water and rf similar to the encapsulator over here so the rf we’re doing our usual magmatic dynamo trick over here and by the way i know that flux ducts exist yeah these things the invar flux Ducts we could have just run or centralize the power source and then run flux ducts for everything oh that is also another option but um yeah we’re giving it power we’re giving it the water with this pump and we just have the power underneath here being extended Along let’s uh turn this off just for now so yeah the blast chiller then automatically gets output to this drawer did i remember to put a void upgrade on there i did okay and then once again we have a hopper underneath this drawer which loads the snowballs into the minecart activated by The laser then onto the unloader except instead of the magnet this time we’re using these entropy manipulators really easy craft here with just with some flukes and lead but for some reason i couldn’t get it to work with the energetic infuser so we are using the applied energistics charger for this Instead and i’ve actually introduced three of these into our system just to see how it would cope with extra items um so i’m probably going to add some more magnets over here but yeah once again we just have the retrieval modules on this pipe and also this pipe and then The excess snowballs are sent back to the drawer except this time i’ve got a high speed increase on this absolutely keeps this unloader empty at all times basically it’s really really fast the only reason this manipulator is in here is because there’s something in the charger and for now we’re just using the Same timer settings on this but we’re going to see how fast this is we’re already 100 112 116 it looks like it does about around four at a time we could probably change that with these loader settings to load till the car is full but since we’re pulsing this laser So often uh we may end up changing this deployer i don’t know i mean it’s finally as it is right this is way more than enough and i suspect there’s many many different ways you could do this setup as long as it works as long as it Doesn’t get jammed and uh from all the time that this has been running i haven’t had it jam and in fact i’m also going to add the high-speed module in the basalt one as well just to ensure this unloader stays empty so that would go in this pipe here on the drawer Oh yeah we’re already up to 200 of these cubes it’s been like a minute so yeah this is this is insane well all right i guess we can tick off snowballs we can take off blizzcubes so i’m assuming similar to the basals we have to mill this once again yep All right so well i guess we can just copy this setup again does it also go into a basin yes it does so it’s pretty much the exact same setup with a few minor tweaks to this you know i wish these setups weren’t so loud i Mean we have the tnt over there and this uh laser i’m gonna turn this off again however i did set up our crashing wheels we are just missing the funnel from here actually let’s lock the drawer again funnel out of there should crush down all of the blizz powder one more funnel Into the basin okay so from here with the compactor we’re getting ice charges only we are missing the silicon compound which takes the fine sand purified sand both of these we have and also coke chunks so after looking at these recipes we we have to make coal coke right which means That we need charcoal and well lucky for us we have to fill drawers of charcoal i mean look at all the charcoal we’ve got here so we’re sitting at a very healthy hundred thousand supply of charcoal we just have to figure out in this small space how We’re going to distribute it into ender chests and uh looking at this i’m not really sure what the best way to do that is we could round robin from this mechanical arm but this arm is moving way too slow for our array of charcoal needs yeah i mean this drawer location Is really not ideal not ideal at all unless we can maybe move this gearbox somehow okay we got it we got it if we do ender chest two item pipes and then a retrieval module on this thing inventory space filter this for charcoal it should pull All of the charcoal out of the out of the drawer and into the ender chest nice we’ll do the same on the other side just to balance out and that’s going to give us a lot of charcoal and that actually also saves another process in step up here as well so yes We have we automate yes we have charcoal all meat oh we have to pick it up again for the quest actually wait a second we have an ender chest here no need to go back down so this we have to turn into coke with the pyrolyzer Which is also going to give us a creosote oil byproduct i don’t think there’s going to be any use for us for this in this pack yeah we just need the paralyzer which i’ve already crafted somewhere here it is so yeah i’ve set up the paralyzer here i’ve left a bit of space In the back for the output of this basin in fact let’s actually yeah let’s actually bring this forward another block okay so the output of this the cold coke will buffer in a drawer again we want to output to the belt and we want to make coke chunks which is a Sequenced assembly actually and i almost missed the part where it’s actually times two so we have to do this twice so i’ve crafted this up here two saws and two spouts we and we want these alternating right so we want spout and then saw and i think we’ll have to leave A gap just because of the belt spacing after this belt we want another saw wrong way and then another belt where we can put the spout on top of this one oh wait no spout should be here and the other part of this is the water Of course we will have to have another pump here somewhere similar to this one yeah and if we place it in the middle here it means that we can have uh some cogs and also power this pump right here and then we can run the water along like this and into the two Spouts oh that was weird um wait a second i have no clue what just happened there okay so we do have to also power these things all right awesome everything is powered including this back belt and also grab some power for these mechanical saws which we have to spin against the belt um What is the best way to do that actually okay does this work oh yeah i mean there’s no way for them to go but we got our coke chunks awesome yeah let’s get a little drawer for these things so that leaves uh two more steps for silicon I can’t believe we made this much progress okay so to make our silicone compound we have to put the coke chunks the purified sand and the fine sand through a compactor and just like that once we connect up this cog is it gonna work wait a second it’s not a we need This is a press oh my brain is fried today we need vertical gearbox into regular gearbox into shaft there we go awesome so this is going to give us silicon compound one thing i wasn’t sure about is if we could automatically output to a drawer but that doesn’t seem To be the case here i think we’re going to have to go into maybe a depot first yeah if we do depot then it will automatically output from the basin and then we can put a drawer next to this one and a funnel on the side one more step To go which is to make silicon let’s pick this up for the quest so all we need now is our induction smeller for the ice charges and silicon compound which we have i mean we have to bring ice charges from over here so i think we’ll extend this belt up And we’ll just go up and over use our vertical space all right check this out guys we have silicon nice we can lock this in the drawer below i think we should yeah we need to set this to automatically output wow what a contraption this turned out to be So i did actually just extend this belt up along to some shoots to directly input to the induction smeller magmatic dynamo on the back for power and then we’re just automatically taken from the side of this drawer here so yeah i guess that is us pretty much unlocked applied Energistics after this and almost the calculation mechanisms we need to set up our sequenced assembly which i guess we’ll fill this little space out with it’s quite unfortunate that we never got to do the alchemy fully um i mean we may come back to it just for the hundred Percent for completion sake oh and i guess we’ll have to also keep an eye on our charcoal production just to make sure that can keep up but i mean 50 000 of each is gonna be it’s gonna last for a while Today our goal is to produce Silicon. We start by exploring the Alchemy route, which requires some research to find the correct recipe. After discovering the recipe is going to require Arcane dust, we pivot to the alternate route to Silicon and begin setting up more Create contraptions. Starting with the further processing of Sand to give Fine Sand and Sand Chunks. Another Component we need is Basalz Shards, which requires a custom Laser recipe involving minecarts and Basalt. Blizz Cubes are produced in a similar fashion which are both combined along with Coal Coke to make the Silicon for Applied Energistics.
