it as always if you don’t know how these ultimate survival guides work i break Down every survival relevant change in minecraft for you all so please hit the like button if you enjoyed this video be sure to subscribe for more videos like this and let’s get into the breakdown of the video so first thing we’re going to break down is All the new blocks and recipes that you need to know for 117. second section will be all about the new items in the game third section will be new mobs and mob changes fourth section is world generation and then fifth section everybody’s favorite is the miscellaneous section so click on The time stamps in the description below or just wait and let’s get started alright ladies and gentlemen so the first block we’re taking a look at today is the amethyst block which you can see right here you can hear it actually makes a nice chime when you place it down and also A little more subtle chime when you walk over it so that is the aim of this block uh the way you make that is through amethyst shards so if we have four amethyst shards in a crafting recipe like this there we go that is our block of amethyst that’s how you make that Now you might be wondering how you get these amethyst shards well to understand that you have to think about how to get the amethyst clusters and the amethyst clusters will show up in amethyst geodes on top of these blocks which are actually budding amethyst these blocks are not obtainable in Survival uh so if you try and mine them with the pickaxe for instance if i go into survival game mode even with silk touch you can’t obtain them same thing with pushing them you can’t do it it just deletes the block but there is a random chance that One amethyst bud will grow on the side of the budding amethyst as long as it’s exposed to air or water and they basically start off small so there’s a small amethyst they grow to medium to large and then to the final stage which is the amethyst cluster so you can See some of these around here so here’s a small one here’s a medium one uh this one looks like it is a large one if i’m not mistaken let’s just see f3 yep large one and then we have a cluster for instance down here now if you try to Uh break these buds right here you can only do that with silk touch so you see if i break it with silk touch i get the actual bud so there’s a medium bud right there but if i were to break this with a fortune pickaxe you see it just gets deleted and yeah That’s no good i don’t get anything from that but that is not the case for the amethyst clusters so the clusters of course you can use silk touch on it no problem but if you break it with your hand or with a pickaxe you will actually get A couple of amethyst shards and i picked up two right there so yeah that’s pretty nice i want to show you also that if you have some of these clusters and you mine it out with fortune you actually get more than you otherwise would so we got two uh amethyst shards From breaking it with our fist but if i break it with a fortune 3 pickaxe you see we actually got 12 amethyst shards so it’s actually very much worth it to use fortune 3 on your amethyst clusters to get as many shards as possible so that way you can make More more amethyst blocks and also more other things which require amethyst shards in the recipe i should also note that you can mine a block of amethyst with any pickaxe and it will drop itself however you can’t use your hand if you use your hand and try and mine it It not only takes longer but the block of amethyst actually disappears next up we have the azalea which looks like this it’s a sort of shrubbery block and there’s also the flowering azalea right here which is the same except it has some flowering buds on it and believe it Or not this is actually considered a flower by the game so things like bees can actually pollinate on it if you have this near a bee hive then you can use bone meal on these azaleas to actually create an azalea tree you can see right here It has sort of a scraggly look and it’s also comprised of azalea leaves and flowering azalea leaves which when these leaves decay they actually will drop the azalea and flowering azalea items that’s how you get more of these you might be asking though how do i get some of these initially well You actually need to talk to some of these guys the wandering traders and you’re not gonna be looking for the azalea or flowering azalea instead you need a wandering trader which sells moss blocks for emeralds so let’s see if we can get one here here’s one okay so yeah one emerald for Two moss blocks this is how you initially get the azalea and flowering azalea and what you want to do is you want to take your moss block which looks like this just basically a giant block of moss and you want to place it in the ground somewhere Then you’re going to need to get out some bone mail and you want to bone mail that grass block and you can see from that yeah we have an azalea flowering azalea and an azalea which grew up right here as well as more moss blocks and some other blocks like some moss carpet So that is how you get your flowering azalea and azalea bushes next up let’s talk about copper so copper ore is the new ore added in minecraft 117. it’s found between levels 0 and 96 although it’s most common around 4748 height level there’s also deep slate copper oil which can rarely be found Below y16 so it looks like this both these can be obtained the actual blocks can be obtained via using silk touch on either the regular copper ore or the deep slight copper ore however if you’re in survival mode and break this block normally you’ll see that you actually get some raw copper And yeah same thing if you break the deep slate or which actually does take slightly longer you get a couple pieces of raw copper and if i obtain a few more of these here like so you’ll see we get between two and three per ore so that means the copper is relatively common And then you have a couple of options so if you have this raw copper you can then craft it into a block of raw copper which looks like this and if you didn’t want to do that you can instead use that block of raw copper convert it back from the block of raw Copper into rockhopper put the raw copper into a furnace and that is how you can smelt your copper ingots now copper ingots are pretty useful so if i go ahead and grab one of these there we go one copper ingot from one raw copper copper ingots can be used for quite a Lot so let’s just go here and the first thing you can use copper ingots for is to craft blocks of copper so here is a block of copper it’s what it looks like right there and of course you can craft these back as well into the copper ingots As you can go back and forth like that now once you have your blocks of copper you can do a couple different things number one is you can just place it down and over time it will actually change so there are actually different states of oxidation of copper in the game It’s a very very slow process so i’m not going to sit around wait for it to happen but effectively every once in a while these will get a random tick and change to exposed copper right here which will then eventually turn into weathered copper which will then eventually turn into Oxidized copper which is this nice like green type of copper so yeah over time these blocks will turn into these blocks now there is a way to prevent that if you so desire and that is by waxing the block the way you do that is if you have a copper block like this Or actually in any state like this you can right click with the honeycomb on the block and you see i just earned an advancement there this will actually freeze the block into the state it’s in so now i can mine this and you’ll see or i can Go to survival mode and mine this one let’s say and yeah these are now waxed exposed copper rather than just regular exposed copper so these are two totally separate blocks and you can’t stack them or anything now let’s say you made a mistake you accidentally waxed one you didn’t want to wax it What can you do well if we go ahead and we’ll go back to creative mode and we’ll get an axe out you can actually take the wax off so now if i go ahead and mine this thing like so there we go you’ll see it now stacks with the exposed copper and has Once again become exposed copper so you can wax and unwax any type of copper block that you want but if you also want to revert a copper to a previous stage you can do so as well by right clicking with the axe again and you’ll see yeah Just return it to the copper the first stage of of copper the regular copper block stage so you can do that with the other variants as well as long as they’re not waxed this one is so i got to take the wax off first and now if i right click it reverts it To the previous stage then to the exposed stage and then finally back to the copper block stage and the same with these as well so yeah kind of an interesting mechanic there with the copper so that’s the basics of the copper blocks and there are also other variants of the copper blocks so There are things like cut copper there are things like cut copper slabs cut copper stairs and if i go ahead and place these down you’ll see these have a little bit of a different texture than the regular blocks of copper so here’s the slabs and then here are the stairs And you might also guess that there are the weathered exposed and oxidized variants of all of these so if i go ahead and look into the menu here just type in copper you can see cut copper stairs exposed copper stairs weather copper stairs oxidized copper stairs And the same thing for all of the slab variants as well so yeah all these will eventually turn into these different types of copper slabs and then these will turn into these different types of copper stairs and then of course you can indeed wax these as well Preserving them in the same state and then if you get an axe out you can unwax them and also revert them to previous copper stair types so yeah that’s how the copper works and those are the variants of the copper that we have in the game now In addition to being used for crafting blocks slabs and stairs copper ingots can also be used to craft lightning rods by placing three copper ingots in a crafting bench like so so this is how you can craft lightning rods which look like this and the cool thing about lightning rods Is they actually attract lightning so if i were to let’s say start a thunderstorm so let’s do slash weather thunder like this and let’s just say that hypothetically a lightning struck this uh this lightning rod which also by the way emits particles as you can see when it thunderstorms So you’ll see occasionally at little sparks here that are sort of shooting up from it little white sparks so let’s say for instance i slash summon lightning bolt right here you’ll see it turned white for a moment and it also lit up that lamp because whenever this is struck by lightning Like that uh yeah it actually emits a signal strength of 15 from it some interesting facts about the lightning rod the lightning rod attracts lightning within 32 blocks of itself and yeah you can also use a channeling trident like i have here to summon the lightning to it and it Also emits a redstone signal when that happens it’s also worth noting that if you have a creeper or a villager or any other mob that can transform via lightning when the lightning rod is hit those mobs do indeed go ahead and transform into the electrified creeper and the The witch in this case so pretty cool the next new block we’re taking a look at is deep slate so deep slate looks like this uh you may be able to notice a subtle texture change between these two blocks of deep slate and that is because you can actually orient deep slate In different orientations so you sort of like log placement where you can place the log either up and down or to the side and you get different textures based on that so you can see like this top texture is on the side here for instance deep slate can be mined with any pickaxe So if i go into survival game mode here and mine it out you’ll see we can mine it just like so and that actually gets us cobble deep slate if we’re using a non-silk touch pickaxe if you’re using silk touch it gives you the deep slate itself but in this case We got cobble deep slate so here’s our cobble deep slate with this cobble deep slate you can do a bunch of things cobble deep slate is actually insanely useful first thing you can do is actually smelt up the cobble deep slate back into deep slate itself similar to cobblestone Back into regular stone but then you can get a whole bunch more block variants namely all these blocks here the way you do that is let’s say we have ourselves a bunch of cobble deep slate you can see here we can just simply craft up these slabs we can craft up the walls We can craft up the stairs or we can craft up the chisel deep slate with two cobble deep slate slabs to get the chisel deep slate you see here so that gets you all these blocks here but wait there’s more let’s say we have our cobble deep slate And we want it instead some polish deep slate just simply put these in a two by two and that gets you your polished deep slate right here so that’s a nice sort of uh sort of blackened uh deep slate block and then of course there are slab stairs and walls of those varieties Uh which you can also get assuming you have enough of this polished deep slate here yep there they go yep so just the same recipes there but polished then from the polish deep slate you can actually make deep slate bricks so if we take our polished deep slate Put in a two by two that gets us our deep slate bricks and from there you can craft up your deep slave brick stairs slabs or walls and you can also smelt it so deep slate bricks smelting in a furnace gets your cracked deep slate bricks which are the same as this but Yeah obviously a cracked texture but wait there’s more if you take your deep slate bricks and put them into a 2×2 again you get deep slate tiles which are these really cool almost sort of like plank textures or brick textures like layered brick textures here so that’s a deep slate Tiles and you have of course the stairs the slabs and the walls of the same recipe and the crack variant which can be made by putting deep slate tiles into a furnace and smelting it so yeah lots and lots of deep slate textures and variants you can get In this update there are three new raw blocks of ores in the game now there are blocks of raw iron raw copper and raw gold and the way you obtain them is pretty straightforward basically whenever you now mine something like gold you will now get a raw gold piece Like this right here same thing with iron and copper you get raw iron and raw copper and then you just combine these into the crafting grid like so so here’s my raw iron making my raw iron block here’s my raw gold making the raw gold block and as you’ve already seen the raw Copper makes the raw copper blocks so that’s how you get these raw blocks of ores in the game next up we have two blocks associated with geodes so we have our calcite right here which is a sort of whitish stone which is found only in the world between the smooth basalt and amethyst Layers of the geodes you can see it sort of goes around like this and if i break through here you know continues on around the geode a little bit back there but yeah this is found nowhere else and it can’t be crafted so calcite is kind of a rare block In that sense then we also have another block around the geode that is the smooth basalt block which looks like this so smooth basalt obviously on the outside of the geode uh sort of totally encompassing the geode if we sort of break these blocks here you can see it’s on the top It’s on the bottom here uh and yeah it’s on the sides as well we keep going around like this let’s find more of it up here yep there it is so yeah lots of smooth basalt and you can also make more by simply smelting up regular basalt in the furnace And that gets you smooth the basalt next new block we’re taking a look at is candles so the way you craft up candles is one honeycomb and one string gives you one candle pretty straightforward so we’ll just grab a bunch of these candles here and you can place these candles in Groups of one two three or four similar to sea pickles and then light them up each one of these gives a different light level starting with three then it goes to six nine and then finally four candles gives you twelve you can also place a candle on a cake And light it and that will also emit light but as soon as you eat a cake a piece of cake the candle will pop off but still pretty nice there’s also different colors of candles the way you get different colors is put a candle in with a die into the Uh crafting bench or into your player inventory and voila we have a colored candle now so yeah again you can do one two three or four stacks of these so that’s nice and of course there are many more colors of candles you can see all the colors here You can light the candles in any way you want you can do a flint and steel you can do a flambeau that will also light candles you can do a fire charge etc um yeah you can also light these from dispensers and things you can also water log candles so you Can put candles underwater but they cannot be lit underwater because that wouldn’t make any sense to put candles out all you got to do is simply use a water bottle splash water bottle like so that puts them out you can also right click them with an open hand Like so or you can actually douse them totally in water by using a water bucket that also puts them out next up we have this new block which is a glow lichen these glow lichen can be placed basically on any block face in any orientation you can even place Multiple of them in the same block as you see here or underwater as you see here and here you can even use it to hide lighting a little bit as the glow light can do give off a little bit of lighting we can for instance place like a painting here With the glow lichen behind here and now if i change it to night you can see there’s a little bit of a dim glow now coming from these things and yeah in particular the painting in this case so that’s kind of cool they emit a light of block Level seven i believe yes seven light level for the glow lichen the way you obtain these in survival mode is you use shears to obtain them otherwise if you don’t use shears try and break them with your fists they just disappear uh same thing if you use any other tool Uh and yeah that’s the glow lichen pretty uh easy block to understand you can also bone mill it and it’ll grow up to the four adjacent spaces to it so yeah these four here if i bone mail it further nothing happens but if i go to the next one It’ll grow into these three spaces and then i can just keep going like that to form like a nice carpet of glow lichen so that’s kind of cool as well i think it also does grow up the block yeah it can grow up the side of blocks as well so That’s pretty neat so that is the glow lichen block our next block is rooted dirt looks like this and as the name implies it is dirt with roots in it but not just figuratively literally if we take a hoe and right click the hoe on the root of dirt You’ll see roots pop out and the rooted dirt also reverts to normal dirt so that is kind of a unique property of the rooted dirt uh you might ask how to obtain the rooted dirt and the way you do that is basically you grow up An azalea tree so we just bone meal this and underneath there grows a rooted dirt right there and it’s only one unfortunately right now but uh yeah you only need one uh to get your hanging roots because basically not only can you right click with the hoe to get the root Out but you can also bone mail it and a hanging root will grow underneath so you can see right there hanging root just grew then to obtain these what you need to do is you need to use shears and yeah that will allow you to get unlimited hanging roots From your rooted dirt so that’s how you get those things right there uh and yeah if you do only want one go ahead and use the hoe instead and that reverts it to regular dirt so that is rooted dirt as well as hanging roots pretty cool and these hanging roots by The way can now be placed underneath of any uh block that’s on the surface so if i go ahead and come up here for instance i can just bring this over here and if i have any block doesn’t matter what it is as long as it’s on the underside of the Block i can hang my hanging roots from that so pretty cool one of the more unique blocks in this update is the tinted glass block tinted glass looks like this the way you craft it up is by using four amethyst shards surrounding one glass block and that gets you two tinted glass Intended glass is unique in that it doesn’t allow light through it but the player can see through it so for instance in here we have ourselves a nice room of tinted glass and if i close this off you’ll see the light level falls to zero within this room When i open it back up light from the outside can get in close it back up light goes away again so kind of a unique block in that sense and also you can actually harvest this with your bare hand in survival so you can actually harvest tinted glass Without using a tool of any type so it makes it very much easier than normal glass to harvest so yeah that is tinted glass now available in survival next up we have drip stone block looks like this so drip stone block is found naturally in the world in some Drip stone clusters it can also be crafted using pointed drip stone in a two by two like this that gets you one drip stone block an appointed drip stone can actually also be found in the drip stone clusters throughout the world in the form of stalactites here or stalagmites As you see up here you can also grow more these slowly grow over time if you have water above a stalag tight like this so this grows extremely slowly but yeah they eventually get bigger and bigger like this and they can actually grow together similar to that when they get to their Maximum size then of course you can simply harvest them just by breaking the pointed drip stone like that with your hand you see the drip stone pop off like that you can pick them up and the same thing on the top break this one like that falls And it breaks and yeah you can then wait for it to regrow back to its previous size and again it happens very very slowly also with the drip stone you might have seen there but basically you can have the drip stone fall and that can do damage to entities so For instance if i hit this with the trident it actually chops the drip stone and yeah some of it fell down uh same thing happens when you break it like this drip stone falls down and when this drip stone falls down this actually does more damage to the entity so let me just Go ahead and show you here if i have a drip stone like this and a creeper down here just this height of the drip stone falling the point of drip stone falling will kill the creeper so if i do this bam dead so that’s pretty cool it also does Increase damage if a player entity falls on it like onto this spiky bit uh so i can demonstrate that here with this creeper boom creeper normally would survive pretty easily from that height so yeah this does extra damage if you uh have it fall on you or if you fall onto It so be careful of the pointed drip stone also if you have lava above pointed drip stone you can see here it actually drips slowly down into the cauldron you should hopefully see it yeah there you go you saw some lava particles coming in and basically this will eventually become A lava cauldron although again happens very very slowly over the course of time same thing here so we have water above this drip stone and this basically will slowly fill the cauldron over time as you can see it’s actually doing now looks like it’s at level one or two here Uh and then yeah again if you have water above one of these drip stones they will eventually grow up get bigger get longer and not only will this uh one grow but the stalagmites grow up from the ground to sort of hopefully meet together so yeah There you go that is the drip stone and pointed drip stone two new blocks in the game another new block which generates naturally in the world is tough this is what it looks like right here this generates naturally and blobs below y16 and the only way you can get it is by Mining it from the world so that is tough next block i’m going to show you is the block of powdered snow so looks like this it’s very similar in texture to regular snow but just slightly different you can obviously pick it up and place it with a bucket and this also works With a dispenser but the powdered snow itself actually will freeze you as you walk inside of it you’ll see that yeah your player will get this sort of freezing overlay over him or her your hearts turn blue and you start to slowly freeze and it does eventually kill you if you Don’t make it out of the powdered snow which by the way you sink into if you try to jump on top of it like that so yeah you can actually use this for traps pretty effectively the only way that you prevent yourself from freezing in the powdered snow is by putting on A piece of leather armor so if i walk in now you’ll see that i actually don’t freeze but as soon as i take the leather armor off i start to freeze once again and the same thing happens for horses if you put leather armor on your horse Your horse won’t freeze so that’s a pro tip there also you can wear leather boots and leather boots not only if you’re in powdered snow do they prevent you from freezing it also allows you to move upward on top of powdered snow so you can actually jump through it Similar to as if if you were in like water or something so like if i were to stack this up i can actually go inside and jump up to the top like so so that’s pretty interesting uh how do you acquire this powdered snow block Well if you have a cauldron in an area where it snows that is exposed to the sky over the course of time very slowly it will fill up with powdered snow like this now one more thing with powdered snow if i do slash give myself a flint and steel If i set myself on fire and then run into the powdered snow it actually deletes the powdered snow block and a similar thing happens with the powdered snow in a cauldron if i catch myself on fire it deletes the powdered snow and actually puts in uh two layers of water uh Level two of water basically so that is kind of interesting as well so there you have it powdered snow now in the game rather unique block next up we have the moss block looks like this it is a block of moss and you can do a couple of interesting Things with this first of all you can craft moss blocks into moss carpets just like so and the moss carpet as you might expect is just a one block tall version of the moss block in carpet form so there you have it can add a little texture to your Moss blocks and moss block areas so that’s pretty nice also moss blocks can be placed in the ground and when you bone meal them they will actually grow additional things around them so you see we now have moss blocks everywhere here uh and we have moss carpets that have Grown we have azalea trees that have grown and if we just continue to grow more and more moss here you’ll see we have flowering azaleas that can also grow so quite a number of blocks can come from uh one single moss block as you continue to bone meal things And yeah this moss block replaces not only things like grass but if you have things like granite or diorites or coarse dirt or things like stone perhaps and you grow moss blocks or bone meal boss moss blocks near them you’ll see it actually overwrites those blocks As well now this doesn’t work for every block so for instance if i have polish diorite or polish granite or let’s say i don’t know wood for instance so if i do this here now put this here and we’ll put this one here now you’ll see whenever i grow Or bonemeal a moss block it leaves those blocks but turns other blocks in the surrounding area to moss so yeah just got to be careful like what blocks you use the moss block nearby because it can overwrite some of them some of the naturally occurring ones i should say so That’s a cool mechanic it’s also worth noting that you can use hose to easily and quickly collect a bunch of moss blocks that you’ve grown so moss blocks are easy to acquire once you have them just by bonemealing the ground with a moss block in it But how do you get your first one well you talk to a wandering trader like this guy here you’ll see this guy sells two moss blocks for one emerald so that’s how you sort of get started on your moss blocks or the moss blocks can also sometimes be found in shipwreck Chests one final thing about the moss blocks is that you can use them to create both mossy cobblestone as well as mossy stone bricks so one moss block and one stone brick gets you one mossy stone brick and you can still use the vine recipe but this is just another way That you can do it there are also a bunch of new blocks in the form of the deep slate ores so we have deep slate coal ore deep slate iron ore deep slate copper ore gold ore redstone ore emerald or lapis ore and diamond ore so the only difference between The regular oars and the deep slate variants is that as you can see the deep slate takes a little bit longer to mine than the other ores also new the iron gold and copper ores oars of both deep slate and regular variants i will now drop raw iron raw copper and raw gold So you can see that here and these can all be smelted into ingots or crafted up into raw blocks and then all the other ones here are exactly the same so no change in any of these but those are the deep slate ores and also the textures of The regular oars have changed as well next blocks let’s see we got the small drip leaf we got the big drip leaf small drip leaf by the way is probably one of the harder blocks to obtain as it’s only obtainable initially from the wandering trader for now though a small drip leaf can Only be placed in water on dirt on clay and on moss blocks like this so that’s the only blocks you can place that on in water sand and things don’t work gravel doesn’t work stone doesn’t work either on land though you can’t place it on Dirt even or on grass you have to only use moss and clay to place the small drip leaf on land so there you go you might also be wondering how to obtain this once you’ve placed it down you can’t just punch it like that instead you have to use shears On your small drip leaves because they’re very delicate there you go drops off you can pick it up next up we have the big drip leaf the big drip leaf can be placed basically anywhere on any natural block under water above water things like that And you can also get big drip leaf from small drip leaf by simply bone milling it and that makes yourself a big drip leaf you can also bone meal this and yeah that grows up your big drip leaf even taller and you can also punch the Big drip leaf and it drops the big drip leaves all over the place so that’s how you can get a whole bunch of big drip leaves very very quickly but there are some other unique properties of the big drip leaf that you need to be aware Of number one the big leaf at the top will actually support you for about a second and a half before tilting and then dropping you through so i can demonstrate that here see i was on it it tilted i fell through and then after a brief time still It resets so that is a pretty unique property and you can do like little parkour forces and stuff like this if you so desire um also it’s worth noting that if you actually have something like this like a redstone signal next to the big drip leaf You can now stand on it for an unlimited num amount of time you can jump on it you can do whatever to it it’ll always stay supporting you now that this redstone torch is here and that this redstone signal is here but if you get rid of that then yeah you Have the same amount of time you had before also projectiles will cause the drip leaf to instantly fall as you can see right here and even if you have a redstone signal powering the drip leaf the projectile still causes it to instantly tilt so yeah just be aware of that one Final thing if you have a item or entity on top of this it doesn’t have to be the player the drip leaf will still tilt and allow the item entity to fall through so yeah kind of a cool block there next new item we’re taking a look at is glowberries so Look like this and basically these glowberries uh can be eaten as a food source if i just right click here see it restores one drumstick worth of hunger every time i eat one glowberry so that’s really cool glowberries can also be planted to form cave binds I have to plant these on the underside of blocks here and over time these cave vines will grow if i just do game rule random tick speed and we’ll set it 300 you’ll see these eventually grow downwards over time clear out some grass down here and sometimes they will grow Some of the glow berries on them like so uh then i’ll just go ahead and set this back here to harvest the glow berries all you have to do is simply right click and the glow berries pop off just like so so that’s pretty nice and you can also use bone meal on The vines themselves to grow to grow glow berries but they also emit light so if i do time set midnight right now you can see they actually emit light if i get rid of them there’s no light and if i cause them to grow again they emit light They actually emit light at level 14 so they’re actually quite bright light sources however you won’t find these naturally generating yet in the world that’s planned for part two of the caves and cliffs update instead you’ll have to rely on globe areas to be found inside minecart chests in mine shafts And these are actually still pretty rare even in the minecart chests they’re only found in about 38 to 39 percent of all mine cart chests in mine shafts one of the quick thing about cave vines they can be climbed just as normal vines can freestanding without any other block supporting so That is pretty cool one other unique thing about glowberries is that they can actually be used to breed up foxes so if i hit this one fox with glowberry this fox with the glowberry there we go and voila they make the baby fox how cute is that next up we have one of The more useful items added this update that is the glow item frame so it’s basically a regular item frame but brighter and the things that you put in it also appear brighter the way you craft this up is by utilizing a regular item frame plus a Glow ink sac which you get from glow squid and that gets you your glow item frame and you can see the utility of this if i close in a room here with one item in a regular item frame and the same item in a glow item frame and close this in You can see once it’s in darkness items in regular item frames tough to see glow item frames you can still see it very clearly almost as if it’s like lit up somehow so that’s really cool so that is the glow item frame now available in minecraft 117. there’s Also a new item that uses the copper ingots and that is the spyglass which uses two copper ingots along with an amethyst shard to make the spyglass so the spyglass itself is essentially like a mini zoom telescope so when i get over here let’s say i want To zoom in on that village over there i just hold down right click the spyglass zooms in and i can like pan around and look a little bit more in detail at the village way far away over there when i’m done just let go of right click and yeah Vision returns to normal i can also use it in the left hand as well so there you go and when you use it in third person you can see i actually hold the spyglass up to my eye to see through it so that is pretty cool that is the spyglass item Now moving on to minecraft mobs the first mod we’re going to take a look at is the axolotl looks like this this is a white axolotl there’s also a brown axolotl a yellow axolotl a pink axolotl see if we can get the pink one here yep and there’s also a super rare blue One but the blue one is like a one in 1200 chance so i probably won’t see that one here but if you do see it in survival make sure to nab it uh the axolotl is a aquatic predator it’ll attack things like squid and fish and glow squid and things Like that so if i put down a few of these here let me put down a squid here yep you can see them attacking it there they go and yeah eventually they will kill it and it’ll drop its stuff they also attack things like guardians elder guardians and drown And a cool thing about the axolotls is let’s say they’re attacking like a guardian for instance let’s see if we put down a few guardians here how this goes see if one gets shot by a beam there we go yeah you’ll see here yeah they’ll actually fake like they’re dead These guys are faking that they’re dead and the guardians are ignoring them because of that they’re taking some time regening before going in for more attacks see these guys fighting the guardians here now uh and yeah you can also lead axolotls so you can leash them Uh and take them with you they will also follow you see if i can actually get this guy off the lead they’re very fast but if i have some buckets of tropical fish and i’m in survival let’s say you’ll see the axolotls will then follow you and you can actually breed Them up with buckets of tropical fish so that is how you can breed these axolotls up and if i hit this guy these two hopefully should breed there we go baby axolotl made sweet so you can breed them up with some tropical fish you can also capture them if you have a Water bucket you can capture them just by right clicking them and then release them by right clicking the water bucket yet again one cool thing about the axolotls is that if you kill a mob that an axolotl is battling you will actually get regeneration uh from the axolotl and also get mining fatigue Removed so check this out if i put a guardian down here okay it’s in battle with the axolotl so now we need to just slay this guy there we go yeah and we killed it and we also got regeneration for a few seconds and if we had mining fatigue it would Have been removed from our person so that is absolutely fantastic one important thing to remember about axolotls is that they start to take damage if they’re outside of water for more than five minutes so be very careful when you’re moving your axon across land uh although it’s useful to know that If it’s raining that actually doesn’t apply so they can actually get moisture from the rain and also if you leash a axolotl it can then move extremely quickly across the ground which can help you quickly and easily guide it to the water just like so So there you have it another pro tip on axolotls next mod we’re taking a look at are goats goats spawn in mountain biomes in small groups and yeah they can basically jump super high as you just saw that guy do right there and they also take reduced fall damage Because they jump so high they have to basically uh goats also can be bred using wheat so if i yeah hit these guys with two wheats they should make a baby goat there he is look at that little fella down there baby goat also jump is pretty high as well so That’s pretty amazing actually you can also milk goats just by right-clicking a goat with an empty bucket that gets you a regular milk bucket and goats are also somewhat hostile if i go ahead and do survival game mode and just sort of uh stand here at the edge of the mountain Not particularly looking at anything occasionally i will actually get rammed by a goat and yeah get rammed off the mountain there’s also a two percent chance for a goat to spawn as a screaming goat uh like this guy right here so yeah things get a little wild with The screaming goats they’re a little bit more hostile and they have crazy yells and everything so yeah be aware of potentially screaming goats in your world next up we have the glow squid the glow squid is sort of like a normal squid except it is apparently glowing and that produces Cool particles around itself if you actually punch the glow squid you can see it actually turns dark and swims away quickly before becoming illuminated yet again like so if you slay the glow squid it will actually drop some glow ink sacks just like that and these glowing sacks can be used to Dye signs or to make glow item frames drown mobs will no longer drop gold ingots and instead now we’ll drop copper ingots as you can see right there a skeleton that is freezing in patterned snow after a few seconds will transform into a stray skeletons remember these guys shoot slowness Arrows so you can now make these guys a little bit easier in survival minecraft powdered snow will freeze and kill all mobs except for strays polar bears and snow golems so just be aware of that in case you encounter powdered snow somewhere one very important change to shulkers in this update Is that if a shulker is now hit with another shulker’s projectile that shulker will then have a percent chance of spawning another shulker so let’s see if we can simulate this there was a hit right there if i stand on this side there we go there was another hit Let’s see what we can do see if we get another shulker spawning in another hit another hit here there we go there we go yeah sweet so yeah there we saw one shulker shoot another shulker and another shulker spawned right there villager trading has also been changed in this update Very slightly now mason villagers can sometimes trade one emerald for four blocks of drip stone this won’t be in every mason you find but yeah if you have a couple of masons chances are you’ll probably see this trade as you’ve seen previously the wandering trader now has a couple new trades He now sells rooted dirt moss blocks pointed drip stone as well as small drip leaf so that’s how you can get a couple of the new blocks in the update one minor change to a couple different mobs now if guardians elder guardians or polar bears are killed while on fire or by Fire itself they will then drop a cooked can salmon or cod rather than an uncooked one which we should see here momentarily when this guy dies yep dropped a cooked cod sweet and the same thing applies to zombies husks and zombie villagers which drop potatoes instead of a potato It’ll be a cooked potato if they die while on fire or by fire next up let’s talk about world generation in 117 because some things did change although we expect a lot more changes in the next update first of all one major change is that amethyst geodes now will spawn Underground in the world so these are geodes that are made up of amethyst blocks and with this clusters and with this buds and it’s surrounded by some calcite and some smooth basalt as you can see around us right here so amethyst geodes are a new facet of world generation in this update Another world generation change is that stone below y equals 16 will now sometimes spawn in as deep slate so you can see a bunch of deep slate here and there’s also some deep slate ores so deep slate iron ore here we got deep slate redstone over here deep slate gold over here And you’ll also find other ores like deep slate diamond deep slate emerald and deep slate lapis lazuli as well additionally you can find tough in small pockets below y16 as well so this is a new generation change too another couple of world generation changes here mine shafts will now generate with support Either from fences and chains connected to the roof supporting it from above as you can see here as it’s doing here uh or from below with oak logs connecting to the ground like this of course this one you know it’s too far down so it doesn’t support Itself from the the ground but in some cases you can find it like that as well so that is a small world generation change and also we have some drip stone here so we have these clusters of drip stone we got drip stone blocks and pointed drip stone Both here and so these clusters will generate throughout your world in caves uh in various locations and we also have one other thing which i wanted to show you which is the glow lichen glow lichen will now generate in caves providing some subtle lighting throughout your world if i go ahead and Uh remove uh these effects you’ll see yeah these provide just a little bit of lighting throughout the caves in various locations wherever they are located so you might see these in caves from time to time now on to the miscellaneous section of the video and the first thing we’re taking a look At is signs first of all signs have a new texture that is more accurately representative of the planks which make them up and you can also now right click a sign with a glow ink sack to cause the text on that sign to glow and you can see even after you cause it To glow you can still change the color and everything so that’s really cool and you can also take off the glowing sign effect by right-clicking with an ink sack so you can return it to the default state and then again you know bring back the glow with the glowing sac So those are really cool changes to science you can now use a dispenser with honeycomb inside to automatically create a waxed copper block just like that this next change has to do with path blocks path blocks are created typically by right clicking a grass block with a shovel However in 117 you can now create them with podzol you can create them with rooted dirt with coarse dirt with mycelium and with regular dirt so you no longer have to wait for grass to grow in order to make a path block you can use any dirt block or dirt variety That you like all types of rail including powered rails activator rails regular rails and detector rails can now all be placed underwater and are water loggable and in addition to that rails no longer break when they encounter flowing water so if i place down a rail here You’ll see the water just simply flows around it and i can even water log the rail if i want to and it stays put and you can also now have mine carts which travel underwater as you can see here this minecart is traveling underwater no problem and we can actually get in The mine cart like this and even in survival we can travel underwater although you do still have to make sure you have enough air to breathe when you’re traveling underwater via mine cart anytime you have gunpowder or paper in your crafting inventory firework rockets now appear as a Craftable item in the recipe book this is not a major change but it is a welcome one and this is also something that appeared in the minecraft opportunities series so thank you moyang for adding this the strength of the poison effect when eating a puffer fish has now decreased from Poison four to only poison two so yeah you get a little bit of a break on the poison still not great though still a very bad time eating the puffer fish but yeah it’s a little bit less poison i guess you can now eat all types of suspicious stew Even when you’re not hungry next up is a massive change to shulker boxes which i’m sure a lot of people are going to be very happy about so shulker boxes when destroyed now drop their contents as entities so what does this mean well here i have a hypothetical shulker box We got some pretty valuable stuff in here including a lot of netherright gear and let’s say i dropped this box into lava like i fell into lava for some reason and died my shulker box dropped in and boom you see the shulker box actually dropped all of its contents And that means that all the netherright gear within that shulker box survived so you can see i got all my other right gear back right here that’s pretty awesome uh that also applies to things like explosions so let’s say hypothetically i had the same shulker box here And a tnt exploded nearby it check out what happens the shulker box is deleted but all the contents within it survive and are now on the ground so now as long as you get back within five minutes you can pick up all your stuff and yeah that is a pretty awesome change To shulker boxes making it much less likely that you’ll lose all your stuff in the box the wood texture on the back of paintings have changed to more accurately reflect the current textures in the game cauldrons can now be filled with lava buckets and that also does not ignite Any nearby flammable materials such as this wood right here also villagers can now accept filled cauldrons even lava cauldrons as valid work stations and you can also fill cauldrons with powdered snow which villagers also accept as workstations there’s a very minor change that has taken place to the end portal the end Portal is no longer transparent from below instead you can see the sort of sky particles that you see on the top side of the end portal the last use of an anvil will no longer drop the item on the ground instead it goes right into your inventory eggs and snowballs Are now no longer slowed down by cobwebs the efficiency enchantment now once again works when put on shears so that helps you to shear vines faster as well as blow lichens faster you can now put leads on squid by simply right clicking them and this also works for mobs like glow Squid and you can drag them to wherever they need to be spectral arrows have had their arrow texture in the world updated so when you shoot an arrow you can see it is now entirely golden just like the arrow texture in your inventory yet another reason to use spectral arrows Infested stone will now no longer drop silverfish if mined with a silk touch pickaxe as you can see here but it still does if you mine it with a normal non-silk touch pickaxe by the way this same trick works with infested deep slate so yeah silk touch definitely buffed With regards to silverfish food will no longer pop off the campfire when the campfire is extinguished there are also a couple of new advancements in this update so for instance one is looking at a parrot with the spy glass see you get the advancement is it a bird which in this case Yes it is there’s also an advancement called is it a balloon for looking at a ghast through a spy glass there’s also an advancement in the end for looking at the ender dragon through a spy glass called is it a plane there’s an advancement for walking on powdered snow when you have Leather boots equipped called light as a rabbit there’s also an advancement called whatever floats your goat where basically if you get into a boat with a goat yeah you get the advancement there are two advancements involving axolotls one is simply catching an axolotl in a bucket like that called the cutest predator And the other is for assisting an axolotl in battle so you see this guy is currently in battle here but if we actually help him out we get the healing power of friendship advancement and that is the new one here teaming up with an axolotl to win a fight There’s also an advancement for waxing a copper block and taking wax off of a copper block another advancement you can get is if you have a villager somewhat close to a lightning strike and if the lightning strikes a lightning rod without starting a fire nearby and you’re also close to it You’ll get the advancement surge protector so that concludes the 1 not 17 ultimate survival guide for the caves and cliffs update part 1. i hope you found something interesting and or intriguing that you didn’t know before about the
