That 2019 2019 was when I left secondary school so 2019 was actually when I started content I started content in like the I it wasn’t Minecraft content so it’s all deleted so my channel actually goes from about 20 20 I started like a little bit of content in at the

End of 2019 or like just after I left scho in 2019 so around about September and then uh and then I started like doing more Minecraft content in 2020 so for me it’s felt like it’s been around a lot longer because I guess it’s all I’ve

Ever known as Luna client as like the biggest client because it’s always been around since I’ve been doing content if that makes sense yeah no for sure yeah I was like in high school in 2019 I think yeah that’s when I graduated yeah I mean it’s crazy it’s been a while but it

Doesn’t feel like it crazy to think of cuz that’s the thing as well is like Contour popular belief I never played Minecraft before becoming a content creator so I played like I played a little bit of Minecraft like Xbox edition but when I became a Content creators when I started playing

Minecraft I just like into the both so a lot of people have this history like like yourself has this whole story of oh I used to like play Minecraft a long time ago and then then I made Lun in 2019 like no I just started my journey

As I started playing Minecraft yeah yeah and you started creating content you said yeah yeah at the same time so Luna K has been around for longer than I have I used to create content when I was was like 15 oh okay what what did you do

Minecraft or yeah Minecraft I used to I used to upload like I still have the videos up I have like hundreds of videos up um on this other channel that no one knows about it’s all private now okay but I used to be like a moderator on

This like faction server when I was very young this was like 2013 2012 and I would just like upload Let’s Plays and 1 V ones and all that fun stuff like and then a few years later I continued uploading I don’t know content creating um and content creation’s always been

Like a passion of mine so maybe one day I’ll I’ll do that as well on the side but it’s yeah it’s always I I always love it so now that I get to work with like all these big content creators it’s really like surreal to me a lot of these

People yeah a lot of these people I used to watch in the day and yes including inside M go [ __ ] um no but uh it’s great I love cting creating in content creators oh yeah so I was going to ask so how how does it all get started how how does

This like all come to be yeah okay that goes back to so I had I was on a team I was a a moderator not a moderator a staff member on a server called M HQ if you’ve heard of it yeah name I I don’t

Know I much much about it at all yeah it was really big um hardcore faction server and uh in late 2018 the server shut down and myself Jordan and Colin we were all on that team together we were like running the server pretty much or helping the the other managers run the

Server and when it shut down um we wanted us stick together right and and make something instead of just leave the Minecraft scene entirely so this was around August of 2018 that it shut down and for some time we didn’t really know what we were going to do uh so I

Actually became staff at Viper MC guys know that that one yeah they actually just shut down last month after that’s yeah that’s what I know about it yeah that’s it and me and Jordan we actually were there to launch the server with um he was like a project manager and I was

A staff manager because throughout the years I’ve managed staff teams and we released in January of 2019 the lunar Network which was a hardcore faction server uh with a practice server so very much what we were doing at M HQ but we released it under a new brand uh with a

New team behind it and once you were able to get some money you know from the practice from from factions were able to launch the lunar client and that you know that was in April and that was only available for 1.7 like the Minecraft version 1.7 so initially it was very

Small very limited amounts of people could use it um and that was in April of 2019 is when we is when we launched it uh lunar client and you know at the time there was just bad lion with a ton of players right you know they were it was

Not even competition we like we weren’t even competing against them because you were so small and irrelevant compared to them but eventually we you know started releasing updates and that’s kind of where it all started same team from M HQ created lunar and moonwork God orbits no way orbits yeah

That that fits in as well but that’s where it started 2018 when that server shut down so if that server never shut down like who knows where we’d be you know oh that’s crazy I guess like you say that but sorry sorry AJ cut you off

I oh you’re gone you know I you’re saying what I’m saying so go ahead I you say that but I’m I’m I’m very much on like firstly everything happens for a reason not in every case but I’m in like these kind of cases I I believe in that

And I guess I guess I just I tend not to kind of look at what could have been for the sake of just not going into a spiral so that’s why I guess I believe in the everything happens for a reason because you know you can say oh if that never

Shut down would Luna clim be a thing but I’d like to say it probably would have because you know that wasn’t I can’t I can’t assume that was the main reason why you may join server I mean look at look at loads of other people that partners with servers or are partners

With clients and then they’ll go on to make their own one eventually anyways because they like what they’re doing kind of thing mhm yeah if that makes yeah I mean no it does you know you never really know what would have happened but yeah you’re probably right

You know I’ve always wanted to do more in the space and you know I believe I had the experience and I knew enough people that could help you know get me there so yeah who knows what would have happened but what matters is that it did

Happen and here we are yeah that’s true that’s always the way the fact that it did happen is the main thing to focus on and you know there would been I mean it’s just it’s not only just how it started but how how like did it feel

Getting to this point from growing you know over the years from just that to where you are now yeah it’s it’s it’s been really surreal especially like 2021 2022 was really crazy growth years for us um well when we ini started no one believed in us right I mean server

Owners didn’t trust us content creators didn’t trust us our competitors hated us um it was like I honestly in that fall like of 2019 I thought we were going to shut down because we literally were bleeding money we had no money I mean we were like it was really bad we could

Barely pay people we weren’t paying ourselves and like we had to you know this was we were doing this full-time I was in college one of my co-founders were also in college Jordan was doing it full time and we were just working around the clock without getting paid

And like we have bills to pay and we have fan like you know so it was very hard to continue going uh in that 2019 era and we are also in a community where everyone the hardcore factions Community if you don’t know it it’s it’s very hard

To please people yeah it’s very hard to manage and they’re very like toxic people um not all of them but some of them so it was very like hard to run the server and also run the client with the same team you know so the client would

Often get neglected because we had to spend so much time on the server um and that’s how 2019 went like we had only 1.7 like the version 1.7 like people couldn’t play on Hypixel with lunar client when it came out just so you understand like how we were like a

Nothing burger like we were so small in comparison to to everyone else and so irrelevant and there was just being everything was being shot at us like content creators are making video how this is a rat and how you can’t trust us and it was very hard to get our foot off

The ground um at the start but once 2019 passed Co hit in early March right of 2020 and like we were positioned in a way where like we could capitalize on that and by that time we had people had the ability to play on Hypixel so we

Released the 1.8 version in late 2019 but it was so difficult because the way our code was structured you literally had to recode everything in 1.8 instead of just doing like a few a few code changes and you know it just magically works you had to recode like all the

Mods all the settings everything on the new version so it’s not sustainable at all uh to maintain two separate code bases and that’s a big reason why we were so far behind is because you had 1.9 now you had 1.12 I think you had 1.15 and you just couldn’t play on any

Of those versions on lunar but you could on you know bad line client for example so we spent all of 2020 figuring out how to make it so people can play on those latest versions without us having to maintain you know five different code bases so all of 2020 we just had our

Heads down and our developers were coding you know making I don’t even know what they were doing it was like you know I don’t do a lot of the coding or the technical side but they were pretty much making it so it was one code base

And you just had to apply you know small changes and it would just work on all the versions and that’s what we did you know so for all of 2020 it was just 1.8 and 1.7 so we got the Hypixel player base you know there was some small

Growth there yeah and then we started in the summer of 2020 we started partnering up with a lot of content creators many of whom were on Bad Lion so to name some it was like the UHC people like exoro and his friends switched from Bad Lion

To lunar we had wisp if you guys know West wisp exe we partnered with him when he had 30,000 followers subscribers he was like one of the yeah he was one of the first people on lunar yeah wisp is great he hem and speed silver actually

Hem and speed Sil were one of our first Partners speed silver came on the podcast made we came say yeah I I I saw some of his episode about hoplight so he partnered with us in 2020 it was the first Partners were him uh you know

Speed Sil wisp U Marcel which is STP PP aaal and Calvin um those were our first five Partners I believe and they put a lot of trust in US I mean granted they didn’t have millions of subs and followers at the time but even at their

Size like it was a risk for them to partner with us because we weren’t really that trusted by the community they didn’t really know us that much um that well so you know I’m always super thankful to those guys and I always you know make sure I keep those

Relationships really good with them but yeah summer of 2020 we had a bunch of people from Bad Lion jumpship they were partners with bad lion and they why do you know why Banny chants if it’s something you can say if if you know why but you don’t want to talk about it

That’s fine no no I I did an interview with crusty David um I don’t know if you saw but he pretty much talked about this exact situation and it really it’s just they just aren’t treated very well at bad lion I don’t want to really make this a podcast about

Obious don’t worry just a simp yeah they just weren’t treated well the product wasn’t there um and and they just preferred us and I’ve had I had prior relationships with exoro exoro yeah we ran he was owner on a server called like Ultra Network which

Is a UHC server in 2017 that I ran and operated with um I was like the the manager of the server o so we worked very closely in 2017 yeah it was very cool it was it was a UHC server owned by the same company that owned M HQ and the

Whole thing like during that time was bad Li and network which before they were client they had the biggest UHC server and they were also mistreating creators and not just doing good things so all these content creators came to us and they’re like let’s make a UHC server

And we made like at the time we had I don’t know if you guys know the history of UHC but it was the it was one of the biggest HC servers we took on Bad Lion literally the one of the biggest servers at the time head-to-head we were filling

Up UHC games with 500 people in it like three games at once so we had 1,500 players simultaneously playing uhc’s many days a week at the time uh and Nester was like one of the media owners it was Nester mentally Dante if you guys know Dante I know D I used to love

Watching UHC I don’t know too much about I watched a lot of UHC back in the day yeah yeah s d you guys know samito samiro um what the new owner of Mineplex that one or no yeah the owner of mlex they were on the podcast as well

Yeah me and S we go way back as well because he crazy yeah he was also on thec server called Ultra network with me and with all the content creator yeah yeah very interesting we go way back and there was like some other content creators involved as well mentally I

Know but yeah samito uh yeah samito and I we go way back as well to to the ultra days you’re going to have to slow down my drawing board can’t keep up I’m trying to connect it is it goes back so many years it’s crazy but let’s focus on lunar you

You know I find crazy though sorry just just when you mentioned about how like you you kind of rivaled like bad line it’s like you guys rivaled the servers and then it’s and you took them on and you essentially won and then you won again as a client which is pretty Mentor

If you think about it you know yeah I mean when we took them on as a server I wasn’t the owner or anything I was just like a I was a manager pretty much you still took them on you still part of it oh yeah we took we took them on I was

Part of it um you know I was literally the first time I ever got paid in Minecraft was managing that server Ultra Network okay um like as a job so yeah I really hold that server close to Heart Like I would pour hours and hours of

Work into it every day and I was in high school at the so that server really like it shaped everything that I know about Staffing and it really it really gave me a new perspective on you know how to be a manager and how to be a leader so I’m

Forever grateful that that whole thing happened but yeah I think that’s one of the main reasons why they like as as soon as we launched they keep they were like on the attack the bat line people on lunar client so and I think that’s why it’s cuz like we never go away it’s

Like we’re always there in one way or another so yeah we took them on as a server I was actually a staff on Bad Lion um way back way back in the day a before making your own it’s a full it’s yeah it’s a full circle I was staff

Against my will to be honest because I don’t know if you know kohe know what cooh is uh i’ I’ve seen the name probably somewhere but I don’t I don’t know yeah it was like one of the largest inecraft servers in the day like 2014

Okay I mean so fun fact about me quickly and I’m not sure if ax more than I do so I was mainly Bedrock Edition content creator up until March 2023 so I have not been I haven’t been in this long at all which is what like kind of this

Whole story of what you’re saying about how you’ve been through so much and sometimes I sit down and I think I wish I had that as well because like hly I’m only just freshly Making Connections this year and like it’s you know never too late but it’s also would have been

Nice to kind of be around in 2019 and kind of be here from the start doing the podcast but you know once again linking but to the everything happens for a reason I’m still doing an all right job I mean you’re on the podcast you know and most of the people you’ve mentioned

Have come on the podcast or might come on the podcast so I I guess me and ajx aren’t doing too bad considering I’m getting fresh to the scene you know so yeah listen I mean I’ve seen some of the guests you guys have on you guys you guys are doing really well for

Yourselves we cook we cook and we have you yeah I mean no but yeah like I was staff on Bad Lion because they bought a called kohi and I was a platform admin which was like the highest rank beneath owner on that server when I was like 14

15 years old and in 2016 bad liion bought that server quote unquote bought it’s a whole story they paid a dollar for it and it was one of the biggest Minecraft servers ever and I became staff on Bad Lion because part of the merger was like you know the staffa

Transfer and I don’t know what I did but I I was what I was think it was 2016 so this was like eight years ago seven years ago I just didn’t like it there and I think I was playing UHC and I think I unbanned my friend where I was

X-raying one of the two and then like I just left the staff team you know easy to compare you know I’m Banning or X both kind of basically the same thing yeah yeah same thing all I know is that didn’t want to be there didn’t like it

We just felt really like screwed over like the coh people um because of everything that happened and I left that that server and I went to M HQ which was you know the first server I talked about so that’s kind of where the whole journey started me leaving bad lion to

My HQ in 2016 um and that’s kind of where I stayed up until my HQ closed on open lunar guess to go back through some of the things you’ve mentioned then i’ I’ve actually had to write down the questions as mental notes I don’t lose it so you mentioned earlier about like

Gaining the trust of people obviously so what I tend to do is on the podcast to show my way of relating to you the only thing I have is the podcast so I’ll talk about the podcast in in regards to kind of relating in the best way I can do you

Mentioned how it was kind of hard game people’s trust I know on Bedrock Edition that’s why I was I was mainly a Bedrock Edition content creator yeah every single client on there is dodgy and it’s known that they’re all bloody dodgy so you know downloading a client on on

Bedro Edition just isn’t trustworthy at all and with the podcast obviously it gained a few months of getting people constantly people on and it’s kind of luck of the straw to have people trust coming on the podcast before eventually it kind of circles into everyone doing

It so how did you start gaining trust not even with content creators I mean just players straight up how did they know how did you convince them that they were going to download Luna client or use Luna client and you weren’t going to get into their files or hack them yeah

It was a lot of controversy that we just had to disprove like we just had to disprove claims and take them headon um I’ll give you an example when we first launched lunar client I think the day like April 6th our first announcement on Discord wasn’t like hey lunar client is

Launched it was a statement regarding previous like allegations and the allegations were that we were Bitcoin even came out the day it came out oh the day so the day came out people were already making allegations oh my God yeah um so I remember this day so vividly because we launched lunar like

We released it it was like 2:00 in the morning or something just so if it like blew up and you know it broke we could just easily revert it and then someone called tenerz which was a content creator very big at the time I think he had a few hundred thousand subscribers

But he left the community sense um and coincidentally he was a partner at bad lion they uploaded a video video saying that we’re a Bitcoin because when yeah when you went to um processes like you see your computers processes um there was something about Bitcoin on the lunar

Client one and people were very concerned rightfully so we were also concerned so we investigated it it took us like 10 minutes to investigate and we found out it was an an app we were using on our launcher called electron and for some reason it had that in the processes

And then we we checked everyone else who had electron and thankfully Discord as electron or they did at the time so the same little Bitcoin process that you could see on lunar client you could also see on Discord so like so that was we we got lucky there that we could easily

Disprove that and it’s like that was our first statement I think it’s like one of our first announcements in Discord is having to disprove that we’re not a Bitcoin miner the day we launched April 6 Welcome To Luna Cent we do not mind it was it was very hard man I mean

It was and then we were accused of being a cheat and we had to make statements against that as well we were accused of so many things and eventually yeah it’s very tough like people threw everything they had at us and it almost worked because we were not doing very well for

2019 so we had to gain their trust so we did that by you know first we gained Trust of the players um because we have the server lunar Network right so lunar client was really at the time made for people who played our server it wasn’t

Until you know 2020 like late 2019 and 2020 that we decided to go all in on the client and make it for everyone it was very much like tailored to the server and like I said it wasn’t until mid 2020 where we started partnering with the content creators that we decided like

Hey we can do something here we can take on Bad Lion we can we can like be the number one client you know that that people that people use and that’s kind of where it all started like the turning point was when those content creators left bad lion into Luna client I’ve said

This as a statement before and I stand by this and I will always stand by this and I this isn’t I mean it’s going to link to Luna client but the phrasing isn’t going to make sense until I explain it is a right will actually is content creators can make or break a

Server right and it’s not in full effect and the part of the server part is where it doesn’t make sense it’s cuz like I’m using in sense of a server but it’s also being used for Luna client here so essentially content creators can make or break a client for instance you said you

Start seeing a crap ton more success and a crap ton more trust come your way once you start getting all these creation marks content creators as partners and it’s true because they essentially made they didn’t make Luna client per se and that’s why the the quote is a little bit

Rough around the edges but they definitely helped kind of grow it is is what I’m what I’m getting here you can tell me if I’m if I’m completely getting the wrong idea I feel like that that’s what you’re getting in 2020 you got this massive boost because people start to

Trust you a lot more yeah for sure and I know I fully agree with that you know it goes both ways uh you know lunar helps content creators content creators helps lunar and for servers as well so think of Hypixel without content creators probably wouldn’t go that far but now

Think of content creators with Hypixel yeah all the you know so yeah and it’s it’s 100% a mutually beneficial relationship without the content creators uh we would not have grown at the rate that we’ve grown so I’m forever thankful for all of them and you know I

Always make sure that we have such good relationships with creators and we treat them well and that’s one of our top priorities another question then in regards to Luna Klein is you mentioned how you’re not the only owner there are two other owners who once again sadly

Couldn’t make it today how did you all meet yeah we all met on the M HQ server oh okay yeah well actually I think Jordan and Colin I think they met like in 2013 because they played um a server called shopo I think but like the relationship really solidified on my HQ

So Colin uh he does Tech so he’s a developer and very smart guy does a lot of a lot of the coding a lot of the infrastructure security stuff Jordan does a lot of product management and product development um so a lot of the ideas the you know uis comes from Jordan

And a lot of the tech stuff you know colum leads so it’s really it’s a great relationship we all have because we all focus on and specialize in different things um you know they don’t love being out in the public like this so that’s

Kind of where I step in um yeah so we all we all we all specialize on on different things and you know we’ve grown so close to each other throughout you know the Last 5 Years doing lunar it’s really it’s really great and I guess it benefits us then as well

Because you know we were able to sit down and talk to you today about lunar Klein and all that kind of stuff yeah exactly I I do want to touch back on cly as well what I said earlier kind of just to so sometimes I do this for my own

Sake not even just for yours is uh with the whole like Mutual benefit thing when I said about the whole make or break thing I more meant like of course it me m like it’s a mutual benefit both ways but in regards to like for instance there’s a server on bedro Edition called

Pixel Paradise right and it wasn’t it’s shut down now but it wasn’t really a good server and as soon as it came out every single content creator in existence just made a video talking bad about it and that’s why I more meant about the whole make or break thing was

Like you know with with Luna Cline when it first came out people were making exposing videos of it and that and unless you guys and you did really handle it really really well if you hadn’t have handled it so well then that could have been what I meant by breaking

But eventually you got to the point where it was Mutual Mutual like benefit to both of thing yeah yeah no I totally get your point like and I agree with that you know with other content creators we would not be here and I can say that very liberally um it’s also you

Guys they played part yeah and and that’s where I’m getting at like it’s it’s both of us you know it’s we did the hard work we made a good product and and you know they they liked it they played on it and they were loyal to us and

Still are to this day so very thankful for all the creators so looking through some of your partners when you go on to the Luna Cent Store there’s multiple different tabs but the first tab that you see as partners and obviously it’s very smart that you put that at the top

Way people can see it they’ve got the lights of x storio Han XX Rose Captain puffy Tabo Wy bear purped skey you know CPK you get the idea just a large range of content creators who are take roughly in the same scene but are still their

Own content creators in a sense so how do you go about reaching out for Partnerships do you reach out cu I know I know there’s a there’s I can’t remember what the requirement is but there is a requirement on Luna client that you can reach out and become a

Partner uh but in regards to once again in quotation marks the larger content creators how how does that whole partnership go because obviously when you first started off it was a sense of you know kind of grabbing people from bad line but nowadays if you want a

Larger content creator to be a partner I guess for instance like TBO do they apply do you reach out to them how’s that whole process going yeah and this has been one of the least transparent parts of lunar is a partnership program and it’s it’s tough because we’re at a

Point right now where we have a lot of part you know yeah it’s not that we don’t value people that you know are on the level of the guys you just mentioned but it it becomes like kind of oversaturated um there’s only so many designs you can do there’s only so much

Organization that represented him at the time yeah when this no longer partnered yeah yeah crazy crazy stuff I don’t know what’s going on there to be honest um but that’s usually how it happens for the larger creators is they reach out individually or I reach out individually

Um they never go through an application we haven’t ever made any public requirements for partners it’s really on a Case by casee basis yeah there’s been R I could have sworn I could have sworn I saw something where like to to become a Luna Luna partner was like I must be I

Must be unless I’m mix I guess in my head I have 3,000 subscribers but then that would be also Hypixel YouTube rank so maybe I’m just mixing the both yeah it’s a lot of people it’s because a lot of people like say you know X Y and Z

And I’ve said in the past like privately to people like oh you know the minimum is 50k subs for example but I not opposed to partnering with people who have less subscribers than that um at all you know if they have a good community and they get good views and

Think it’s influential so if you have a community and you have influence in the community and you know you’re making a difference with whatever area you’re recording in or making content then we’ll most likely be interested in a partnership um and that doesn’t go to say that anyone we’ve denied or haven’t

Responded to doesn’t it’s just because we get so many you know like our emails get flooded with partnership request and we often times we can’t reply to everyone unfortunately you know so it’s and sometimes we miss some it’s like I I I looked through that and I miss influence the Minecraft Community yeah

Mcci was releasing um and they were doing like a bunch of hype videos right and we replied to one of their tweets with like an imoji I think and noxy replied to us saying like DM me because lunar is broken on mcci it’s like everything is broken because they use custom textur oh

Yeah yeah yeah so this was like before the release so we’re like shoot okay um so we de that’s when I first met noxy um and then we were like we should partner up and here we are so like the mcci is on our launcher um there’s like an NPC

On their Hub that if you click it it takes you to lunar client and they recommend lunar client I think they might be in the process of making Cosmetics I they were just a little you know they weren’t too sure on that we’re very much good friends with them um one

Of our developers they were the first people on the mcci server that wasn’t part of like Knox crew’s team that’s a fun little story he that he always he always holds he always like mentions that when we talk about mcci it’s funny um because you were like fixing the Ser

The the client on the server but with servers like you know we’re partnered with Hypixel as well we have our own code on the Hypixel store you can use uh code lunar on the Hypixel store to get like a discount for example tubet we launched a partnership with them right

When they released as well so all these servers are on our launcher they have Cosmetics you know we do custom features we have this API that they can integrate with lunar client and they can make it a more customized experience for players who are on lunar um that you simply

Can’t do with the vanilla client like we can fix bugs that present on vanilla that just you can’t do on the server side so it’s either a mod or a client to fix it and that’s what really um you know servers really like that uh we can

Fix a lot of things on their server for lunar players and just make the experience that much better I guess touching on this a little bit more kind of just giving my opinion and you don’t have to agree on this is I feel like when we was mentioned about who you have

To part who you choose to partner with and stuff like that I feel like it has to be like mutually beneficial for instance and this isn’t me trying to hint anything and I’m going to be direct with you so obviously it’s not a hint it’s me being D obviously an inside MC

Company space station gaming and the numbers aren’t insane right uh content creators do way more because they actually are constantly promoting it and whatnot but we can say like we’re partnered with sore and we’re partnered with space station and they can say the same right if they ever want to get into

The Minecraft space if they ever want to do a tournament or an event you know if inside themc podcast ever wants to do an event or something you have that relationship and that connection um already L with someone like us get in the door exactly right so with Brands

We’re we’re a bit more lenient on um you know if the numbers aren’t all there we’d still be um inclined to to partner with a brand do you ever UNP partner for instance if we partnered up and only like three people bought the cape for example after a month would you turn

Yeah yeah I mean so when it comes to uh removing cosme like removing Partners we don’t do that very often we give them opportunities to make new ones uh make new Cosmetics we’ve only really had to UNP partner people when their server closed or when you know the brand deal

Was was over like sometimes you do a brand deal with with someone and the Cosmetics are only live for X days or the third one is whenever there’s any controversy with a Creator or with like a server we un partner them and that’s happened a few times in the past um

Where we had to make those decisions but most of the times we we encourage people to make new cosmetics and you know new ways to advertise them and whatnot I’m going to I’m going to ask maybe a cheeky question here you have any that like

2022 like the Minecraft event for twitchcon was was us eventt no This was um San Diego fair enough it was it was like a very surreal moment you know we’re all backstage we had like we made a a special build of the client for twitch we had their branding on it you

Know we had custom twitch Cosmetics we were on the big screen at twitchcon um at uh twitch Rivals which is like their uh like kind of like Esports division like competitive division yeah they gave out these us like branded twitch USB keys with a bunch of Cosmetics from like all types of games

Like fortnite and like every game that you could get like coins or Cosmetics like it was there and lunar was actually on that USB key so that was like a really cool partnership we were a part of you know in collaboration with eventt that was a really serial moment it’s

Like wo like we have like a live event at twitch and that that was uh one of the coolest Partnerships we’ve done so far I guess moving away from the like partnership and all that kind of stuff you know obviously you make your own ones as well like you got actual

Luna capes I’m looking through the store right now I know I’m specifically T my capes there’s obviously loads of other stuff there’s uh you know emotes there’s bandanas masks uh all that kind of jazz right it’s not just it’s not just capes I guess it’s just capes some more I

Um but it would definitely just be like cloaks the wings those are really good selling Cosmetics twerk is great the twk OT yeah fun story about that that went like super viral on Tik Tok in 2021 and it was like creators were getting millions of views on Tik

Tok and that it goes back to the mutually beneficial thing we were talking about creators were getting millions of views on Tik Tok Instagram YouTube twerking in Minecraft on lunar a lot of our partners a lot of them like blew up because of that like not because

Of lunar but during that time like people were home from covid and lunar client was blowing up and that specific twerk emote just went completely viral Boomer na he he he would do it all the time on Tik Tok and he would like scream and his videos have like millions of

Views and it’s just him twerking and L dancing on lunar it’s hilarious um those are definitely standout ones for us it’s just by by just TW on set is that what I should do made TW we were the first client to monetize emotes actually that’s actually the only

Thing we launched with when we launched in 2019 you could only buy emotes and it was like super um simple emotes that that we did but we were the first ones to do it and then you know after we did it bad lion and everyone else followed

Suit of course yeah that’s a fun fact about about the emotes in Minecraft we w we didn’t create emotes in Minecraft but like to make it this popular and to to monetize it the way we did we were the first sort of perfect for Tik Tok

Popping off everyone home the pmic and I know yeah I know skier skier um he had emotes but like it really really went viral like all the dances we did in 2021 on on Tik Tok and all those places a hot question then and I want you to be

From school I was you know doing classes in Zoom cuz I went to University uh throughout all of Lun client pretty much I graduated last year but in that winter in that year of 2020 was really when we took over bad liion and when we became we solidified our position as the number

One client it was from December 2020 to like April to June 2021 was when we really solidified our position just built on it since then so that’s yeah that’s some fun that’s we have or I have even we have I don’t know why I’ve said that is you know like your biggest

Selling point and you’ve mentioned it a few times is y the #1f free Minecraft client and as of right now you’ve had over 2 million and it’s probably a lot more than that of course but over 2 million active users which is just crazy stats especially for for a Minecraft

Client kind of mental yeah yeah we’ve had um downloads is way higher than that um it’s I don’t know if we publicly say it but it’s it’s a lot in a double digits obviously um yeah you don’t have to say it in the millions um but 12 downloads let’s

Go like like I I think it’s 20 around 20 million or so um I’m not sure the number off the top of my head but yeah it’s around 2 million monthly active users uh it’s a ma is what people call it it’s what it’s a number people you know a lot

Of people measure a lot of Brands ask for um and that’s crazy to think of I mean I always think of it in like the like in terms of like soccer or football stage it’s like how many people fit in this a football stadium right it’s like

I don’t know 60,000 and to think that you could have multiple football stadiums of people playing your game is really surreal in 20 and 2021 and 2022 actually we reached 100,000 people current on the client so at the same time and I think aside from Hypixel we

Were the only ones to reach that that 100K number concurrent so when that happened I think our Peak was like 120k so 120,000 people playing at the same time on lunar it was insane and that was 2021 and then it happened again in 2022 but you know Minecraft in the past year

Has been in a a downturn been in a position so it’s it’s always the highs and lows right but when we hit that number it was like like is this real like we made it I guess um it was very surreal and it’s still surreal to think

Of today um like 100,000 people playing at the same time on your your product right it’s very czy think about that and you deserve it I mean you guys have worked so hard on growing BL a client there something you you worked hard to do and you’re reaping the benefits yeah

It’s been a long journey you know 2021 and 2022 but 2021 especially was like a crazy year for the client that’s when really we started growing and we were able to hire so many people and actually like build out a company so it was crazy

Year 2022 was also crazy uh a lot of growth there as well 23 has been great as well you know it’s just slower because because of you know Minecraft isn’t where it was in 2021 but it’s still like it’s still part of the journey and you know I wouldn’t have it any other

Way I was going to say I think I think we’ve all seen Minecraft has had a small dip before and then it’s come back so you know there’s there’s always I mean remember when Minecraft was at its lowest when high tail released their trailer oh I do I F and then like yeah

And then three years or four years later or two years later maybe it hit its peak again so I’m sure there will be another Peak higher than the previous one that’s when high will come out is when the peak comes back I mean people have been saying like we’re all just waiting for

A strictly Java it’s been strictly Java um it’s been strictly a Java client sorry I mentioned earlier how like Bedrock clients are very untrustworthy and it’s been proven that they are and it’s not just rumors like they are just un trustworthy as heck what’s the reason for Luna CL never exploring the Bedrock

Field is it harder is it impossible supposed to oh just maybe you just don’t want to do it what’s what’s the deal there yeah um obviously we’ve given it a lot of thought so the reason is you can’t do what we do on Java on Bedrock so all these clients quote unquote

Clients on Bedrock I could be mistaken but that’s not allowed you can’t mod Bedrock you can’t make like mods like we do for Bedrock I believe what they do is like resource packs or or something like that they do where they’re able to make

A mod so Microsoft is very um how do I say it they’re very they make it very obvious that they do not want you touching their game on bedrock and so we have it so you know the furthest you can go on Bedrock is you can make a server

In partnership with bck or you can become an official partner um which is you know making maps and cosmetics and emotes all on Bedrock text exactly exactly so you can’t we can’t make a client Bedrock so that should answer the reason as to why we haven’t we’re not going to step on their

2023 yeah I don’t know it just wasn’t as popular obviously like we’re not going to be spending thousands of dollars on something that isn’t generating revenue or profit was a passion project for the longest time that server because it truth be told it didn’t make that much

Money we weren’t paid W um that wasn’t our goal with the server we just wanted to make a good product yeah uh and that’s what we did you know we brought back when M HQ shut down in 2018 there was no place for hardcore factions and

Uh we did it we did it on lunar for many Maps I think we’ve had over 15 maps of of Hardcore factions on lunar client or lunar Network um and that’s kind of what launched the client but it got to a point where the community wasn’t growing

It’s it’s a very small community it’s been in a decline for many years and it just required so much time and development that it wasn’t worth it for us anymore so it was very hard to make that decision server was actually losing money for many many months prior to us

Shutting it down but we just we just ate it you know we just whatever it was very much a passion project and it got to the point where like we don’t want this up if we’re not going to continuously update it and we really weren’t so we

Didn’t want to have a bad product over there it was a very hard decision but we don’t regret it that’s that’s what you want to take out of it right even after a decision like that you don’t want to regret what happened yeah exactly I mean

We had so much fun on the server there’s so many stories like we always joke around like oh in 10 years we’re going to go on a podcast and just like the be like fill the tea like of everything that happened and it’s like because it’s

So funny like the things that like we go through like behind the scenes all server owners do but especially if you have like a big project it’s really crazy I mean it’s like it’s stuff out of a movie sometimes it’s very insane like the politicking and everything you have to

Do to to you know get a decision approved or to to you know do a certain thing it’s it’s crazy like the stuff you have to do behind the scen to run a successful server and all the characters and players you interact with throughout the way it’s really memorable very crazy

Experience I wouldn’t have it any other way though uh the server’s always been great it’s just we lost interest and it wasn’t worth it in the end yeah yeah definitely and especially when you have such a big of project going on S yeah we didn’t want to spread ourselves too thin

Either right I mean if we really wanted to compete in the server space space and there was a lot of competition at the time uh we would have just had our our lunar client developers you know they’re really smart people they could have made that Ser it 10 times better but then we

Would would have stopped developing lunar client which was you know the obvious the main product so it’s like how far do you take a passion project right we weren’t willing to sacrifice lunar client’s quality and all the effort that was being put into it um to work on the server anymore so we

Unfortunately had to close it but I think we went out you know in a good way got a lot of support from our players and a lot of those players still play on lunar client which is great you mentioned podcasts so has there never been a podcast about lunar client before

Then is this the first time or there’s been many interviews and like documentaries about us but I’ve never gone on an actual podcast so I’ve done interviews but no podcast see it’s funny we’ve always first I’ve always wanted to um like this has been something I’ve

Spoken about for like two years that we we need to make a lunar lunar cast lunar podcast why not make it like a monthly thing or like a thing every two months and like we talk with all of our partners and yeah it’s something we’ve always talked about but we’ve just never

Done it it’s it’s so many ideas it’s hard running a podcast like especially imagine that on top of the client as well you know on top of everything else yeah I always um I always make it so specific as well like despite us see we’re only really borderline

Interviewing you because I always see how I’ve always like established interviews are I go into it with only one only like set questions in mind and no matter what you answer I don’t listen until when I’m Ting it I just go and ask the next question anyways like with this

Put out on December 1st just said I just said coming soon and it was uh you know a video of lunar client and people being able to launch with other mods so since uh we launched and up to this day you only had custom mods on lunar that we

Put in the client you know it was the lunar UI we create the mods we make the settings we do all that we’ve never been able to drag and drop a mod into lunar and have it work does that Mak sense so on Forge and on fabric you can download

A mod you can drag it into your mods folder right and um it’ll just work on lunar client and bad line client uh you can’t do that so what people have been asking for is for a way for them to add their own mod uh because obviously we

Can’t keep up with the thousands of mod developers out there that make mods that people love we can’t keep up and add all those to lunar ourselves so what we’ve done is yeah so we are work on allowing people to add their own mods to lunar client right now it’s some people are

Already doing it like they they play on hoplight with voice chat and it’s going to be very interesting to see how everyone reacts to this and how the community um takes it I think everyone’s going to love it because really there’s no downside if you want to use another

Mod you’re going to be able to um I can’t go into too much of exactly what we’re doing but at the start it’s going to be mod packs or servers so for example hoplight will have their own mod pack where you can launch into the server hoplight directly from the lunar

Launcher um with bunch of mods that we already picked out and it’s going to download when you launch I don’t know this the technical side of is that you partnering with sense as well then um not necessarily it’s not an official partnership it’s it’s going to be mods

From modr which is a like a mod yeah I know mod oh yeah people mod for people can upload their mods to it so you know we’re just going to use their apis people can download mod packs from there um but it’s going to be on our launchers

So it’s going to be a you know hoplight for lunar client mod pack or lunar client for hoplight and it’s going to have all the mods people like playing with on hoplight and you’ll be able to join hoplight with those mods and eventually that’s going to lead to

People being able to select whatever mod they want from modin they’re going to have a cool UI to do it and it’s going to be great and I think once this is out for one it’s going to really go head-to-head with the competitor we have that came out last year and two it’s

Going to it’s going to really like there’s going to be no reason in my opinion right and I’m super biased here for people to use uh Fabric or Forge what because a lot of the reason is you know they go on they go on lunar when they

Lunar Network we paid someone to make us that logo and I think that like they took it like they took parts of it from somewhere I’m not sure but we it was like a whole process so we had to change it quite a bit but the lunar network

Logo was similar to that um and then we just added like the hexagon around it and changed a few things up but it it’s really just a moon there wasn’t that much thought that went into it like there’s not behind yeah us 5 years ago you know the moon logo though there is

Some lore behind it like the company logo it’s like supposed to spell OMW you like look at it funny this logo right here I just linked you guys that logo there’s more Lord to it like that’s like the official company logo we bought that with like one of our parents credit

Cards when we first launched company it was a few hundred you had to buy it off of I forget the website but that one was know I I I love that moon logo what is what is moonwork we haven’t really touched on it like what what moorthi standpoint like that’s the

Shut it down we never really fully close the doors on it um I’m not going to give people false hope and say that it’s coming back but it’s like there hasn’t been a decision like it may come back one day like if we see that opening a

Server again is viable then maybe yeah we’ll bring it back um will we ever bring back hardcore factions on the version 1.8 probably not um if lunar GG ever comes back it will most likely be an entirely new server um on the latest version of Minecraft instead of you know

1.8 1.7 it’ll probably be on 1.20 you know using all the new PVP mechanics and all the uh the new stuff that mojing released uh in terms of a ranking system for Cosmetics that’s a great idea I haven’t thought of that we’ll see if if we can do that probably not because

There’s that element of like not secrecy but I guess you could say secrecy like Rarity like a lot of people see a Cosmetic in game that they’ve never seen before and it’s like a really old one and they get very curious and go down this like rabbit hole trying to find it

And that’s kind of like just some something we have with our tight-nit community and I feel like if we were to put a a list of every cosmetic we’ve had people would just copy them we’ve had issues where competitors just straight up copy our Cosmetics one for one and we

Don’t want that to happen my one then and you might not answer this just based on what you just said but we’ll see is from Malone as well this the one I thought H was going to ask what is the rarest ever Luna Cline cosmetic rarest ever um well I

Don’t know there’s so many Cosmetics that we made that were never released or sold so so I guess best out of the ones we’ve sold the rarest one 2019 when we launched Cosmetics we were very careful with what we l because we didn’t want to just not provide value and just monetize

With a bunch of cosmetics and we were very against selling Cosmetics at first so it actually took us a few months to launch Cosmetics but when we did we launched These Wings for Halloween uh these like bone wings for Halloween I’m going to put them on right now I’m

Running around in Minecraft as I’m doing this and and and we only sold 50 of those and once we hit 50 we never sold them again so I would say that those bone wings are the rarest ones um yeah only 50 people were able to buy them and

We never sold them again and we kept our word we made other um iterations of build wings like to emulate you know like a boat for example but yeah that specific one we never sold it again and we kept our word and you know only 50

People were able to buy it oh damn so yeah so I would say those are the rarest that’s the rarest one if you got some bone Wings you could be sitting on a gold mine I’m selling my account on eBay but I but I would advise against selling

Your account because that is against our terms of service to cut out is that good to keep in as a joke no you’re fine you’re fine all right don’t get I don’t want to get in trouble yeah yeah a lot of people sell their accounts and like unfortunately we

Have to remove their Cosmetics because it’s just it it creates like this like black Marketplace that we don’t want get involved in and like if people get scammed they come to us so our policy is like if you’re selling your account and you’re using Cosmetics to advertise that
