Double – Minecraft Beta 1.9 – Potion Crafting and Brewing Stands

Hey what’s up guys double we’re back with some more minecraft 1.9 and this time I’m going to be taking a look at potion making so everything we need is in this chest right here and I show you guys how to craft the things you need as

Well as take a look at some of the necessary potions so the first thing that we need is a brewing stand and this is how we’re gonna make all of our potions so to make a unique cobblestone and blaze rods and I initially thought when the blaze rod was first introduced

As a new item that they’re going to be used for like tools and stuff like that because it kinda looks like a stick but it seems like it’s gonna be used for this to make the bring stands you put cobblestone along the bottom there’s three cobblestone and then one blaze

Right in the middle and that gets us a brewing stand so if we put this down it actually even has its own little animation it smokes up a bit so the next thing we do is make a cauldron and the cauldron was actually going to be used

To make all the potions beforehand but they changed it because it was a bit tedious and it’s just more convenient to use that so to make a cauldron we just take our iron ingots put it in sort of like a bucket shape like this and there

We go we have a cauldron and this is going to be used to house our water so going to put some water in there then we’re gonna use glass bottles and kind of like I guess scoop that up and it’ll drain in a second you’ll see so next

Thing we need is glass and we’ll have the water for the cauldron so to make our glass bottles really simple just put it in the shape of a bowl and used it a few times how many you get three three glass bottles each time so take a few of

Those and there we go we have nine of them now so let’s put our water bucket in this College run and there we go we can put we can actually drain this out now with the glass bottles so this is kind of I mean you could probably use

Just water anywhere so I’m not sure if the cauldrons necessary but you can just scoop it it like this one two three there we go and now we can actually put these in the bottom of our brewing stand so this is the base now we’re gonna make

Actually starting to make our first base potion which is going to be an awkward potion and the awkward potion is the base potion for all positive for all positive things like it’s positive buses you want to call it so we have that in there and the first thing we need to put

Up here is the nether wart and that’s going to be that’s going to be making our actually don’t have any in other words in there that’s going to be making pretty much all our potions right now so let’s take another words and I’m just

Gonna go over here put it in here on the top and now it’s going to go down into the arrows gonna fill up we’re waiting a little bit and bubbles here it’s kind of cool so yeah that’s going to be used and we’re going to use the awkward potion

Sorry to make a lot of potions I think that has the most used to so far so I don’t know if there’s about two thousand apparently there was supposed to be two thousand potions and I don’t think there is right now um The awkward base potion

Or the awkward potion for the base guys so confusing for me even but it has the most uses so far you can make the most things out of its I’m going to show you a few of those but actually there we go with the nether wart went in here and

Now this is an awkward potion so this is our base we’re gonna take these out and we’re going to show I’m going to show you guys the other few the other few bases as well so the other the next base is a thick potion so to make a thick

Potion all we need is glowstone dust so I have that right here I’m going to go into our brewing stand again we’re gonna take actually need some more water in the cauldron so let’s do that and then actually I need to put this in my inventory goddammit stupid creative mode

This right here and there we go so now we’re going to fill these back up one two three I’m gonna put this on the bottom and this time we’re gonna be making our thick potions so we have to put glowstone on the top and this is

Gonna arrows going to fill up again same story and there’s actually two other ones as well there’s the mundane potion and the potion of weakness and you can sort of combine these with everything else and it’s a lot of experimentation so if you don’t know what you’re doing

You just kind of experiment with different ingredients and hope for the best as far as I know the awkward potion mixed with sugar is it makes you quicker is it the potion of swiftness I believe so that’s the first thing that we’re actually going to try out I’m going to

Show you a few of the potions that you can make from the bases this is one done yet yes it is okay so now we have the thick potion so I’m just going to try to organize these here so it doesn’t get too out of hand and the next thing that

We need to make a mundane potion is redstone dust so in the same thing we need water so we have to call the water bucket here for the cauldron and then we need our what does it right stone does there it is so let’s get this

And fill this back up it’s getting night I know I’m not done whoops and then we can just scoop this back up keep rinsing repeating until we we have all the things that we need and I don’t think these actually change their look at all none of them really change because these

Are the base ones so they have no effects right now but you combine these with everything else to make what you want again I hope they have all those different types of potions because there was supposed to be like 2000 different combinations and from what I’ve seen so

Far there’s like about I’m not like sure like 50 or something like that which is still a lot but it’s a big step down from 2000 so maybe in the full game there will be a lot more different types of potions and that’d be cool because I’m actually I was looking forward to

That so this one’s done again is probably you look exact same we need to take these out Monday in potion no effects I’ll try to show you guys I don’t think there’s many different combinations for these but the same story goes with the potion of weakness and the only difference in this whole

Process is that you use a fermented spider eye up here instead of any other ingredient so we’re actually before we end off your I’m going to show you guys a few potions that we can make that are pretty cool so when take our awkward potions put these on the bottom as our

Base and then on top we’re going to make ourselves an instant health potion so gonna leave those there we’re gonna get ourselves a ghast here if I have a ghast here there we go gassed here and this is going to make uh it’s it’s instant health and I guess the whole reason

Behind that was because you know now we can only if you’re in survival mode gain health by getting our hunger bar fully up and then our household increases this is instant health and the instant health tier one of it because there are two tiers you can make the next tier with it

By putting the instant health potion together that’s going to see in a second on the bottom and then we can actually get tier two of the instant health potion and we’re just going to do that really quickly as well but this will replenish three hearts right away tier

Two of it replenishes six hearts right away so there we go these actually glow in our hands now which looks really really cool if you look at that you can see it’s like got this purple sort of glow and it looks really really neat so

Now if I was to drink this and I was in survival mode I would get three extra hearts but when I put this on the bottom and we’re actually gonna put some glowstone dust on the top now and this is actually going to craft an instant health cheer too so I don’t

Know if it changes I haven’t actually gone through this whole system yeah I’ve only tried a few things but now there is going to be a lot of combinations I really I’m excited to see what you can do it’s just going to be a lot of fun

You can just be gonna be a witch on top of your house like right now on top of a mountain I have my little mushrooms here as it adds a new feel to it there’s a lot of new things being added I sort of like it um it’s getting kind of

Complicated though I mean I wonder how many more things they’re actually gonna add before the full game is released so here we go and nothing really changed on the potion it looks exact same but you can see now it’s tier two so that’s gonna replenish six hearts which is really really useful

So these potions are actually very very they come in handy they really do if you especially if you’re going in like strongholds and stuff like that I guess even just going dungeon hunting or just running around at night actually probably the best use for these would be in hardcore mode those might become

Really useful so that I want to show you guys one other potion there are a lot but I might end up doing kind of like a potion making 101 series if you guys would like to see that but we’re going to take a look at the potion of

Swiftness so to do that we need to make ourselves some more awkward potions as our base so do we have any more bottles we don’t we need some more bottles so let’s do this we need three and then we’re going to go over here put some

Water in this and one two three put these on the bottom and we need two ups wait how are they I lost them there we go and we need to get another nether wart on top here so we can make these into awkward potions let’s do that

Where’s these in other words in my inventory this time I don’t see them all answer I only got one last time I only spawned it in okay where is it there it is oops nope not that nope there we go nether worked okay so to make the potion

Of swiftness we actually need sugar and sugar is actually the source of kind of speed in all this you can combine this with a few different things and there’s a few different tiers of potion of the potion of swiftness as well this one that we’re making right now the anchor

Potion mixed with sugar on top is going to only last for three minutes and I guess we’ll see what it actually does will if we can use it to see if I make faster I’ll probably have to try these things out in a survival mode someday

Just see the actual effects so now we have our aqua potion push sugar on top and now this is going to give us the potion of swiftness so there’s actually two different types of this one so far or three actually including this one so there’s this one where you sugar you

Gets it for three minutes and I guess the difference is that when you’re drinking this if I can put this into perspective here you can actually jump four blocks if your spring jumping with with a potion as opposed to three just regular spring jumping hey god I

Feel like I’m talking a lot here trying to explain so much but on the other potion of swiftness if you use oh wow that looks really really cool take a look at that guys that’s awesome so it’s got like a pink edge around it that is

Neat okay so to make the next version this we’re actually gonna put this and keep this on the bottom and then we’re going to put on top the redstone dust and that’s going to give us not potion of swiftness tier two but we’re going to get it for eight minutes as opposed to

Three minutes and the tier two version of this and on top here we actually have to UM use is it glowstone I think it’s glowstone dust and it’s only gonna last for a minute and thirty seconds but you know I’m assuming it’s gonna be a lot

Faster so let’s try one of these out and see if this does translate into creative mode it might not I don’t think it does but there’s no harm in trying really quickly and see if it does work um so now these are the exact same and we

Could we could go ahead and put this right here I’m actually going to do that and there we go so there’s a lot of experimentation you’re adding things together mixing a lot of ingredients which is really really cool I would like to see the cauldron have more of a via

More views than just water I know that at the beginning they did plan on this being the the primary source to make your potions but it was really tedious you know putting water in and changing everything out every single time so the brewing stand just became much more

Convenient unless very much less tedious than the cauldron so see if we can actually so this is going to turn into the tier 2 now there it is in the last four you can see a minute 30 seconds so see if we can actually do this I don’t

Know if it will will work yes it does work we go we go a bit faster walking a bit faster so it does translate into creative mode so there you go guys and we got three of these it’s gonna last for a minute and 30 seconds which

Is pretty pretty cool so anyway I want to show you guys those ins really quickly just to kind of clear that out and again the the last potion last base potion that we didn’t take a look at was uh water on the bottom of here and then

A fermented spider eye on top so yeah again if you guys want to see some like potion making and hopefully later on and more updates they come up with some more potions because right now there are a lot but there’s nowhere near as many as they said that we’re gonna be anyway
