In this video i’m going to show you how to upgrade your glass skyscraper facade from something like this all the way to this with each one of these examples i’m going to show you what is wrong with it and how it can be improved in the next Step so let’s start with this one so you have your ceiling and your floor above and you might have just put some glass right on the edge this is not ideal because you can see right through it and it’s pretty boring if you are able to use shaders with your builds it is Easier to hide the in-between of the floors from the outside but if you’re not then you can use either a light glass or to hide it a little bit better you can use a darker glass but then if we do something like this it still looks Pretty bland so we’re gonna go from here and go on to this next step so the difference between this one and this one is that we have a separation between here so we can see that we have a full glass block between the floors here and Then at the ceiling level and then on the floor level of the floor above we’re going to use glass panes now you might notice that it’s not actually connected to anything in here or on this side that is because i use world edits so if you’re doing this by hand you’re going To have that little extra bit in between here so if you were building this with no world edits and just in default then it would look something more like this you have your vertical elements here and then this would just attach to this so if we take this and just stack it down So it covers this whole thing here it’s going to throw the proportions off a little bit so just be careful with that i’m going to make another video soon about scales but if you’re building with this scale i would recommend just keeping it as one this way if you have Three blocks as the actual floors and then two blocks between floors you’re going to have a four one split and it’s just gonna look a little bit more cohesive so you might look at this and think it’s still a little bit boring so you can try something like this Personally i think this is a little bit too complicated but i just wanted to show you as an example so to go from this one to this one what we did is on each of these columns here where we have this vertical element we just changed The back to a light gray stained glass and then we have these panes up here and then instead of having panes all the way across the top we replaced one with this and then this pattern of two just repeats across so that it looks something like this you might be able to Get away with using this if it’s in a small area but if you’re covering a large glass tower with something like this then it’s probably going to look a little bit too messy if you do want to use it as a glass tower we can go from This one to this one we’re still using this pattern here that goes with the vertical elements but we’re using it on one and then with the next two it’s just normal and then as talked about in this video we can do the double stack here where instead of having a horizontal Pattern every floor we can do it every two or three floors one last trick that i typically use so that you can’t really see it as much through the glass is i will replace this bottom one with a stair this way if we come over here and Look back through the glass it looks like there’s only one and a half blocks compared to the full two that you see over here and in these previous examples it’s a really subtle trick but i find it helps you may choose not to do it but That’s up to you if you wanted to go a step further you could do one block in between floors even though i don’t recommend it but if you do then use trapdoors on your ceiling to make the material from the floor to the ceiling look different by that i just mean Something like this so you can have your tile above and then if you’re using cubepack like i am then you can use a dark oak trap door and put that on the ceiling just be warned if you do something like this then you will not be able to use ceiling lights because then You’ll have to either put them in here which from the floor below it looks really nice but if you come up here you’re gonna have this light that’s sticking through your floor if you did want to go ahead with this you’d have to get creative with different flooring up top here You’d have to have lights that are hanging from the ceiling or you would have to use diffused lighting it’s all up to you but just make sure that the lighting from the floor below is not visible through the floor above so overall the four big things you can do To reduce this rate here is number one make your glass darker two use vertical elements three use subtle horizontal elements and four make it smaller right here thanks for watching if you have any other building questions then feel free to leave a comment and i will try and answer them in another video You Video Information
