About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to join your friends single player world in Minecraft Java Edition. There are a few different methods to play Minecraft with friends on PC, and this video will go over all of the different methods from LAN worlds to making a server, everything is covered in this video!
The easiest way to play Minecraft worlds with your friends is using a LAN world. There are some limitations to this though. Specifically, you will need to be on the same internet/wifi in order to play your Minecraft world with friends via LAN.
In order to play Minecraft via LAN, join the Minecraft singleplayer world you want to play with your friend, and hit “Escape” to pause the game. Click “Open to LAN”, change any settings you want, and then click the “Start LAN World” button. Your Minecraft singleplayer world is now open to LAN.
As long as your friend is on the same internet connection as you, they will be able to go into the “Multiplayer” menu in their Minecraft Java Edition and see your singleplayer world at the bottom. They can double click this world to join your singleplayer world in Minecraft Java.
There are two other methods to play your singleplayer world with your friends though, and that is by adding it to a Minecraft server. This can be a server that is self-hosted on your computer or on a server that is with a hosting company.
In the description above, there is a link to make a Minecraft server on your computer as well as a link to our hosting, SimpleGameHosting. You can use either of these methods to make your server, and then, once your server is created, you will need to add your singleplayer world to it.
To do this, open up the Minecraft Launcher. Then, click on the “Installations” tab at the top of the launcher. Hover over the Minecraft version you play your singleplayer world with and click the folder icon that appears. This will open your Minecraft folder.
In your .minecraft folder, you will have a “saves” folder. Open that, and you will see all of your single player Minecraft Java worlds. Right-click and copy the world you want to add to your server.
Next, open your server’s directory. You can also connect to your server with FTP if you are on a hosting company. Paste the world into the server’s main directory where your server.jar, mods, and other files and folders are.
After the world has been moved, delete the existing “world” folder if there is one. Rename the singleplayer world folder you moved over to simply “world”. Now, when you start your server, your Minecraft single player world will be what is on the server when you join it.
Your friends can also join and play Minecraft Java in your world now that it is on the server.
With that, you now know how to play Minecraft singleplayer worlds with your friends. If you have any questions about play Minecraft Java with friends, let us know in the comments.
