Hey guys in this video i’m going to show you how i turn art like this into epic minecraft builds like this but first it could work from our sponsors the first thing we need to do is find the artwork i use a website called pinterest if you’ve heard of it before You know what’s up if you don’t you pretty much just go in here and type in something like minecraft house boom so if we type that in we get a bunch of different minecraft houses which is cool but it’s not what we’re looking for we want concept art so let’s type in house Concept art pretty vague but straight away you get heaps of houses assuming that you want to build a house of course so if you don’t have inspiration yet or you’re looking to refine your search you can actually use the suggested search options at the top so Maybe you want to build a fantasy house so we click that and then straight away we get fantasy house concept art so i’m gonna have a little browse and see if i can find something that we can uh build in this video okay so i’ve been looking for about five Minutes now trying to find something that’s cool and will be interesting to build but something that’s not too complex and i found this one here and i quite like it so scratch whatever i just said we’re gonna build this now i think it’s gonna work better one thing i want To show you though is that you can search iso metric house this is a lot closer to like the square shapes from minecraft if concept art just straight is a little bit scary to start with maybe try um searching isometric houses or whatever um yeah the shapes are a lot easier to To model off but you’re gonna make this so i’m gonna put a picture up and let’s get into minecraft okay so in minecraft the picture should be on the screen the next three things that i would consider uh is the scale the form and last and least the palette I’ll get to that in a second so number one scale what do i mean by that well if i put two blocks here and i make a doorway like this this is uh like one to one this is minecraft scale so i i fit in here just fine now you can go Bigger than this and so i could make the door you know one block higher and like bigger this way that you know that’s i don’t know what the scale is for that but it’s bigger and so you can go bigger and bigger and bigger uh to you know make the thing have more Detail but when you do that obviously the whole size of the project increases and so you have to consider how big and to what scale you’re going to make it whether it’s going to have you know a real functional minecraft size or if it is going to be a bigger build You know that’s a little bit more grand for this build i think we’re going to go for a one-to-one minecraft scale i think the next thing is form or shape and what i’m talking about here is like how far apart you place the blocks and So if i go look at the bottom left there’s like a thing that comes up and then there’s like a little bit there there’s a kind of like a frame with the door let’s say that we’re gonna make it this big uh and then there’s like a bit above the Door and then it goes over a couple blocks we can use a different color wool here Okay so i’ve just laid out this bottom i guess like front facade bottom third thing and you can see how i’ve chosen to lay it out my throat is what’s going on here so i’ve chosen to make these like support things two blocks wide and then having two blocks for the door And then maybe just one higher so it’s like kind of like 1.5 scale if that’s a thing and i’ve just kind of guessed that it’s going to be like this distance between the first um thing here and the next beam and then i’ve just kind of the the window the next like distance Between the next two beams is smaller so i’ve just made it a bit smaller and that’s really how it goes you kind of just have to get a feel for what i guess feels right i’ve chosen to lay this out using a different color wool You don’t have to do that you can use whatever you want [Applause] All right so we’ve gotten pretty far okay so i’ve gone ahead and built up the second level it’s looking very pink we’ll get to the palette in just a moment but i wanted to take a second to talk about some of the shapes and the way i’m placing things If you’re interested so you’ll see where the stone goes into the wood i’ve brought it out by one and so you know classic overhang technique as you can see on the corners it looks like sort of a log comes out and then it has these sort of like jutty beams that go underneath I’ll probably use something like stairs there to create that effect and next coming up to the windows i’ve got these blue resembling the blue so the beams that are going up and down and then the pinks are resembled white but then i’ve cut the windows down so the first one I’ve just guessed kind of like four four blocks should be enough it’s got sort of two sides and it’s the same sort of width as the door as well so i’ve tried to match those together and the second one over this side is like the half the size So again i’ve just made it two by three and just place it where i think it looks right on top of this window as well for the detailing the beams that come up and down on this kind of almost shooter style house i’ll either use fences Or i’ll just come in here and replace it with um sort of things like this and just use logs i’m gonna go ahead and quickly build up the roof and then we can talk about color palette [Applause] [Applause] Okay so the house is done the rainbow house is finished and i think it’s good i think the shape is good i’ve edited in these like beam things here because they were in the concept art i don’t know if i’ll keep them on there no i should also say that we Are referencing somebody’s artwork and so it’s good to give them credit which i haven’t done yet all right here we go credit where credit is due i think is how you say it beautiful because we are referencing someone else’s work it’s okay to change it to remix to add our own flavor so Maybe i will get rid of these the reason i leave the color palette to the end is because i don’t think it’s as important as maybe you might think it is minecraft doesn’t have a block for every single color that you’re going to come across in a picture for example the roof Is this like bluey black shelly tile thing we have cobblestone i guess we get deep slate in the next update but that’s still a while away what’s really cool is that in the process of trying to find the right blocks for the project uh you learn new combinations and you Learn things that work and that don’t work and that’s that’s all part of the learning process it’s really really helpful to do that so on the base you can see straight away that there’s kind of two colors of stone there’s a light color and a dark color so we’re going to maybe use Some polish andesite you know what maybe just some regular andesite right so there we go that’s a bit of a gradient you know what that’s actually quite dark that could be the bottom block for the next layer i think uh what we’re gonna use is stripped this strip uh what is that Strip warp stem and maybe bone blocks as well boom bone blocks and notice there’s a few spots where it looks like the plaster has been ripped off so maybe we get some birch planks in there as well or some maybe some oak as well and we’ll see if there’s any spots where We might be able to use that to kind of i don’t know just show that it’s aging a little bit and lastly for the roof what i actually normally do is i’ll just type in slab or like stairs or something and i’ll see what colors we have available so There’s obviously the black stone i’m i’m really reluctant to use black stone it’s just way too dark for me okay so now that i got all my blocks laid out i’m gonna go ahead and color this guy and using the help of wooded it what you need this little axe for If you don’t know what world it is go check it out it’s just like a really helpful building plug-in for minecraft i use it all the time especially when i’m testing and trying things out in creative but yeah i can do things like this All right we’re done i uh went ahead and copied it into just a regular minecraft world because i think it looks a bit better now i know the time lapse kind of skipped through the coloring and detailing part of the build kind of fast but that’s just because i Don’t think it matters that much now you would have seen i tried using the fence gates and fences but i didn’t really like them so i went ahead and used signs instead i think they just look a little bit cleaner one thing i want to address that’s kind Of important is the back here actually so i did the back and what i’ve done is just matched the window design from the front very very really like 99 almost 100 of the time you’ll never see the back of a piece of art because there’s one perspective I’ve just copied over some of the elements from the front on to the back and that’s just what you have to do you have to get a little bit creative use your imagination so i hope you like that i hope you’re feeling inspired to try something new Uh just a few weeks ago i was feeling pretty inspired and so using the techniques that we just talked about i tried to build a floating city in the sky [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Um hopefully after watching that you’re not feeling too intimidated i assure you you can do this it’s really actually not that hard but it does take some time i’m not gonna lie this did take me quite a while to do but all in all i’m i’m pretty happy i Think it turned out pretty cool just like the build we did earlier i had to completely imagine what the back of this thing would look like so i added a couple extra buildings jutting out as well as a broken bridge and a couple of landing pads Hope you enjoyed the video i hope you’re feeling inspired to try these techniques on your next build but remember if you’re using someone else’s work always credit them never forget that if you enjoyed any part of this video please let me know by hitting that like Button i put a lot of hours into this one and it really helps also if you’re not subscribed go ahead and smash Video Information
