Like Disney the the uh the filmation the people that made those cartoons used rotoscoping you know oh yeah yeah so they had uh they had a you know and it’s funny because a lot of people think that uh all the characters had the same physique because of um the the action

Figures but there were characters in the show that never had figures made the reason that they all have like these muscular physiques is because when they did the rotoscoping they had bodybuilders come in to do all the acting for the rotoscope videos so all the b-roll that

They use for the rotoscoping has these bodybuilders in it you know so so when they did the character designs they did bodybuilder physiques to make the to make it easier to animate so they wouldn’t have to go too far off of the uh model you know yeah so

Uh but it’s something where when you rotoscope some something like that it makes it a lot um it makes the movements seem a lot more smooth and lifelike you know so it’s just uh but uh Disney for a long time like rotoscoping was like their Dirty Little

Secret um you know you look at uh a lot of old like Disney like documentary type movies where it shows like how everything was made and they don’t show a single rotoscoping machine anywhere uh they like uh they just show the animators like at a desk you know like

Tracing the previous thing like you know like oh they do everything by hand and it’s magic you know like you just like they were really uh you know what kind of sucks though that the rotoscoping wasn’t like it was it was impressive but it was so [ __ ] uncanny

Wasn’t it like with the was that [ __ ] was [ __ ] Eerie to look at yeah well the thing the thing with rotoscoping is uh you’re basically taking a video of of somebody doing something right and you’re going frame by frame and you’re basically using the positions of that person in

The frame to you know basically kind of sketch out like the outline of the character you’re drawing uh for that scene and then you’re uh comparing it to uh previous drawings that you’ve done for that same scene and and stuff like that so like the so the

Rotoscoping like like I said the the rotoscoping is really just about capturing like lifelike motion um and it’s funny because I I see I see all these videos on YouTube and they’re like oh Disney reused uh animation in this in these movies you know they’re showing stuff from like the

Jungle Book and Robin Hood and how it’s like the same exact animation sequence but with different characters and I’m like yeah no they didn’t they didn’t reuse the animation they didn’t redo reuse the animation cells they reused the rotoscope footage you know like yeah so that’s why it looks the same because

They just use the same rotoscoped crap so but uh lot of these people are convinced that they just they just painted over the old animation cells for the it’s like no that’s not what they did I mean either way that could still be considered the same in a way you know

Like yeah no it’s still it’s still recycling uh something that was used in a previous movie don’t get me wrong but it’s it but like it’s they’re they’re acting like it’s you know oh they took the the cells from Belo dancing in The Jungle Book and changed them into little

John for Robin Hood and it’s like no that’s not what happened you know n yeah like you know and like with and like some of the dancing it was like uh like it’s like King Louie and it’s and it’s like uh like Henrietta the uh freaking chicken lady from Robin Hood doing the

Same dance is like there’s no way that it’s that it’s going to save you time to use the Old King Lou cells instead of just reanimating the same [ __ ] scene like you know you know yeah understand but yeah anyway it’s just uh like I said but but like I

Pretty bad yeah it it’s it’s not great uh it was one of those movies that Disney kind of made when they were trying to figure out where they were going as a company after 3D animation kind of started taking off after pix whooped their ass three times in a row

Well cuz they had you know they had Pixar come along and like Pixar for for a while was you was making movies with Disney and then they kind of went off and did their own thing for a little bit and then Disney tried to make their own movies

You know own 3D movies you know CG movies without Pixar uh and it sucked you know so so they ended up kind of uh buying Pixar you know hey we need your help here’s a billion come on right basically yeah cuz they were like yeah we can’t

And you know like I said part of it was just like they were trying to you know get used to it you know doing a new type of Animation but another part of it was you know they were just picking some really bad stories and they just thought

That like it they just thought oh anything will sell as long as it’s you know CG you know you know that that kind of mentality you know like oh people will will go see it just because it’s new technology or whatever it’s like no they’re they’re not going to just uh

Blindly love anything that’s using you know CG animation even then like uh I realized that Chicken Little wasn’t even the first one because [ __ ] dinosaur came out in 2000 and that [ __ ] was [ __ ] awful yeah uh all that [ __ ] did was just show what type of [ __ ] gear they were

Working with everything about that movie is just look at the pretty things we have right just vanity no substance at all right yeah there was a movie that Disney did uh around that time frame uh called Valiant uh I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the the trailers or anything for

This [ __ ] but uh God damn I haven’t heard of it all it’s about pigeons I don’t I don’t oh I remember Valiant I watched that [ __ ] whenever I was sick like [ __ ] 10 years ago yeah like it it’s like it it’s like uh you know like they had that that

Movie I think they had highway to the danger zone in the trailer or some [ __ ] but it’s like yeah actually I mean I have kind I have kind of nostalgia goggles for that movie I know it’s not good but I I don’t know I had fun with it kind

Of but like you know there like just some of the gags and everything in the trailer were kind of cringe but yeah like it was just you know I never I don’t think I ever would actually saw that movie but you know it’s it’s one of those things

Where sometimes I treat uh bad animated movies like uh like poison you know like like oh I don’t have to eat it to know it’s toxic that type of thing you know yeah but uh you know I don’t know again it might not it might just be Nostalgia for me

But I actually didn’t really mind that movie at all it it was kind of funny at some points for sure yeah like I said there were there were some there I saw that there were some gags in the trailer like the like the one where the pigeons

Hunger Disney movies I hate that a lot of people like um well I wouldn’t say I hate it but I do have a lot a lot of uh a lot of criticisms about the way that Disney handled their adaptation of the Black Cauldron I mentioned that a few times

Kind of a return to uh the musical CU they took for a while they were doing movies that were just kind of you know not really musicals which is what Disney was kind of known for like Disney doesn’t doesn’t have if you look at Disney’s entire animation catalog like

All the all the animated movies they’ve done they don’t have a lot of animate animated movies that are not considered musicals you know it’s like Bambi and uh Lilo and Stitch and uh like Tangled and you know like couple of like Brave and couple of other uh you know more more modern

Movies uh but like most of the rest of their catalog is just musicals you know so uh so Frozen is definitely a musical uh and it and it came at a time when Disney had not done one in a while uh damn that took Hugo a while to come up

Lang okay okay so Andrew Lang uh lived over like lived like over 100 years ago um and he collected a bunch of fairy tales from all over the world into various fairy books like the most the most famous one is still published and printed today uh it’s called the Blue

Fairy book but like after he did the Blue Fairy book which was the first one he did several others you know he had like the olive Fairy book and the pink fairy book and like just much like just all the different colors you can think of he pretty much had fairy books for

Them right so um anyway uh so like I started reading these things cuz like both because because they’re so old they’re like most of them are available on like Gutenberg like various different versions of Gutenberg from different countries uh gutenberg.org it’s a place where you can read uh public domain uh printed works

Right um so so I started reading all of them and I started to realize something about all these old fairy tales right you know cuz keep in mind the these were collected and translated from all over the world uh literally like over 100 years ago right yeah um there was one

Thing that that really stood out as I started reading all these fairy tales from all over the world and that was uh there was one thing that kept showing up as the villain in these fairy tales like more off in the dragons Giants witches uh any other uh creature any other

Fantasy creature that showed up in these fairy tales uh the uh there was one thing that was the villain like more often than not black people oh my God yeah like if you read some of this this [ __ ] [ __ ] like some of these old [ __ ] fairy tales like they have some

[ __ ] up racist ass descriptions of black people in these [ __ ] stories like oh my God and uh and like I said even if they’re not even if they’re not like describing them as being like like the like you know the tribal Aboriginal look like a lot of them do um they’ll

Like uh you know just be stories about how oh yeah these you know horrible black people did this to the protagonist and it was bad you know like all this [ __ ] like just you know like just uh and like I said the you know because there’s stories from all over the world so

There’s like Arabic ones and you know Native American folktales and like just all this stuff but like like I said it’s just it was it just struck me how how often uh the you know black people were playing the villain in in these these stories so man
