Minecraft Crash: Exit Code 1
While playing Minecraft or booting it up, you may crash due to an Exit Code 1 error. This reveals almost no helpful information to resolve the situation, creating frustration for some users. Luckily, there’s many solutions to resolve the problem! With this in mind, we’ve created this Apex Hosting video to showcase them all to you so you may once again play Minecraft.
What is the Exit Code 1 Crash?
The exit code 1 crash means that the Java runtime configuration isn’t working properly, but there are plenty of other reasons for this problem. Whether you’ve been playing around with mods or manually tweaking the game files, it can be triggered by a lot of things.
Restart the Launcher
If the game is crashing when you’re on your server, a classic way to resolve the crash error is to restart the Minecraft launcher. Around a third of the time this will work without any other complications, but that doesn’t always mean it’ll fix it entirely. It might work at first, and then you’ll get another crash a few minutes later. Adding on to this method, you could consider restarting the entire computer, or you can completely end the Launcher’s process in task manager to see if that helps.
Problems with Mods
While adding mods to Minecraft can enhance the gameplay, it can also be prone to crashing. If you receive exit code 1 after messing around with the modifications, try reverting any changes you made. This involves you either adding back the old mods or removing newer ones, depending on what you did before that might have triggered the crash.
Reinstall Java and Minecraft
Another way to resolve the exit code 1 crash is to reinstall either Java or Minecraft. The first can be done by heading to their download page and then choosing your operating system. After doing this, restart your computer and open the launcher to see if that helps. As for the other reinstallation, this can be done by moving your saved folder somewhere else on your computer, and then deleting the .minecraft directory on your device. Accessing these directories can be done by pressing any folders icon in the installation menu of the launcher.
Update Graphics Drivers
If you haven’t updated your graphics driver, doing that can directly pose an issue for Minecraft and its background processes, making it important to always keep it up to date.
Other Solutions
There really are so many solutions that we can’t really fit them all in this guide, but for a quick list of other options you can try, you can try allocating more memory to the game, or reinstalling any third party launchers such as CurseForge if they were used during the crash.
When all you want to do is play, it can be super frustrating to have a game crash, but the good news is there are many things for you to try to help fix the situation. Though it might take some time to find the exact cause, hopefully this guide is the one to help you out. Thanks for watching!
