EPIC Minecraft Water Gameplay – Method’s Backlog

Hello everyone and welcome back to more let’s play Minecraft episode 2 and as you can see we’ve updated the game to 0.0.2 a under score3 uh there have been a few patches uh before this version but this is the only one that’s found and yeah the patches are basically just simple bug

Fixes so nothing important um as you can see right off the bat we have uh the first addition of water and just liquids in general in the game we have water and we have lava here a big old lava lake and uh uh the texture looks a little bit

Spicy might I say um honestly it reminds me of hot chili sauce it’s a it’s a very bad texture let’s be honest but uh hey it was the first edition of of lava of liquids so let’s also take a closer look at the water as well yeah pretty basic it’s also surprising

How close it looks to you know modern water I mean it’s not animated but the whole like the color scheme and the the like little lines that you see on the texture are basically the same as they always have been so that’s pretty cool and also you

Might notice that uh the world if I press R this is a useful feature in these old versions where uh basically get assigned a new location every time I’m impressive uh yeah the world generates in an island shape now which is also a bit different and it’s not as

Mountainous anymore it’s a bit Messier because there’s a lot more of these like two block tall things so it’s a lot Messier but uh it’s a lot less mountainous as well which is kind of a shame I I kind of like the the old generation but the new

One is better in my opinion because I mean it’s a very biased opinion I just love Islands um some of you who might who might be watching my content for a while now know this that uh I’m really into islands like I just love Islands I don’t even

Know why I just really love Islands they have this sort of serene and peaceful feel to them that I can’t quite explain but it’s it’s awesome so I am definitely a big fan of this train generation in fact I think it’s probably my favorite terain generator from the classic here of the

Game um but yeah anyway enough about that um nothing much else to say I mean the water the way it works is it spreads infinitely we’ll get to see that many times throughout the series um so won’t dwell too much on that um oh oh I forgot about this bug so

You might notice that on the top right corner where we used to have like the block selection thing it’s now gone but don’t worry we can still place all of our regular blocks it’s just for whatever reason only the sapling displays and I think I know why because

I have modded classic in the past I think Notch accidentally applied the um because water in order for it to be transparent like this it needs to render in a completely different layer something to do with open uh something to do with uh open GL and um he was a dumbass and he

Assigned this value like this layer for all the blocks not just the water and and that leads to this bug here where they’re not visible in upper hand corner um the sapling does not apply to this rule because the sapling renders in a different way so

Yeah but anyway uh with all the boring stuff out of the way what are we going to be building this time um well given that water was added I think I want to build a little pier a little like dock area with some boats I think that would

Be pretty cool and I also want to do something with that Lava Lake over there um I don’t know what yet I have to think of something but I mean it’s a lava lake unfortunately you cannot place down water in lava and that’s probably because it’s very destructive you can

Literally flood your entire world because once you place down a single Source Block it’s going to start multiplying and spreading everywhere there’s no stop to it it’s not like the modern game where you have uh you know a limited range where the water can go so it’s kind of crazy so that’s probably

Why we can’t really build with liquids unfortunately the best we can do is just control the terrain around liquids and uh work work from there uh and another thing you might notice is that there’s no shorelines I mean these are technically shorelines but there’s no like beaches um blocks can never

Generate on ocean level and I think I know why because Notch made it so that blocks on and Below ocean level are always dirt otherwise the game is going to be laggy as hell cuz it’s going to you know kill all the dirt um slowly but

Surely and uh his way of dealing with uh with the issue with making this layer also be dirt when it generates is to just make it not generate at all and then why not just change it so that that layer is also grass I don’t know not

Again uh as discussed last time he was a very strange guy he had a strange way of uh doing things oh yeah caves are still in by the way but no sense in exploring caves right now even if they had stuff in them there’s uh nothing I can do with

It cuz I’m in creative mode it’s going to be until we reach survival mode unfortunately so for the first like 20 or so episodes of this series is going to be entirely creative which is kind of odd I’ve never really done creative in the past like a

Creative series um I know other people like uh my good friend soybean have but uh yeah I personally haven’t and I’ve never had interest in that either so we’ll see how it goes now I’m going to start buing yeah yeah so right here you can see how the

Water Works it uh it takes a while to update but once it updates it floods basically everything it’s very wacky completely unlike anything in the modern game which is why I like these you know these versions are so unique on own their own ways that it’s fun it’s always fun to like revisit Them all right um so this is going to be our dock uh it’s a bit too small at the moment so I think I’ll expand it a little bit further here I’m going to build probably two boats just small sail boats I I do want

To build a big pirate ship but I kind of want to do that in inev in survival mode cuz that’s going to be a little bit more interesting um I I might also build a a bit of a smaller version in later classic episodes but for now I want to

Keep it simple cuz again these versions are very simple so I want that to be reflected in my builds as well right I think this is long enough I’ll put a boat right here then I might expand this further but given the terrain I was given I’m I’m I’m kind of I always

Whenever I build anything uh be it in Creative or survival I like to use the terrain my advantage so you can see that here it like goes in a bit so the dog would look kind of weird here and I don’t want to expand this terrain that’s not only going to

Take too long but also I don’t really like doing terraforming in this game I mean I I don’t like building in general but especially terraforming uh i’ I’ve never been a fan of that’s like my least favorite thing to do in the game so I would rather avoid that as much as

Possible sorry all of you terraforming fans who might be watching this but that’s just how I roll all right I’m going to build the boat right here are going to be the dimensions that I’m going for whenever I build a boat I usually do like the outline first like

The dimensions and then I’ll I I go from there so yeah as you can see it’s a very small boat like probably a bit too small but so whatever now water is really annoying um to work with in these earli version versions because I mean there will be

Sponges spoiler alert in later versions of classic but currently there’s no sponges so water is very annoying to work with so I have to literally replace all these water blocks with like wood and then dig out the wood again that’s another reason why I don’t want to you know invest too much time

Into this cuz it’s h very frustrating to deal with that’s why I’m making a bit of a smaller boat Here Right I’m uploading or I’m recording this rather about a day God it’s so annoying I can’t even tell what block I have selected I’m recording I’m recording this a day after on the same day that I uploaded the previous episode so I apologize if I uh if this episode

Makes the controls feel very Floy and whenever I jump up it feels kind of weird probably because I’m not used to it but uh yeah I I have no idea why Notch did this and then reverted It One update later that’s what I mean with these versions there’s so experimental

That uh there’s a lot of there’s a bunch of like small changes like that that make absolutely no sense oh crap okay got to be quick because before it floods um and as a result I think that’s why also the swimming underwater is also very uh very weird at the moment uh very

Slow as well really annoying in TS but yeah there we go there’s our boat there’s our sail boat very simple uh I mean the sale was made out of stone I don’t think that’s going to be very effective but it’s there’s no cloth yet so this this is the best I can do

Um yeah I was cu considering also doing some pixel art but uh to be honest I’m not very good at it so if I do some do some if I do do some pixel art got English what a weird language um I’m going to do it in a

Later version when we have more colors to work with cuz currently again we only have these four blocks there’s no new blocks added outside of the liquids and as I said before you can’t really build with liquids yet um so yeah we basically have no new blocks

To work with we just have the regular Stone dirt Cobble planks and I guess saplings as well if you count those um so as a result um I don’t really want to do any pixel art at the moment uh don’t worry I will build some pixel art at

Least basic pixel art in the future once we have colors to work with but with this limited block palette color palette I’ve literally just four blocks I I have seen some OG players uh from like the tick Source forums uh who have actually built pretty good looking pixel art in

These earlier versions in like as early as 11a but I’m not nearly that good so I don’t I won’t even bother so what I want to do now in this Lava Lake here as I clear out this bit of Rog dirt is um I don’t know what I

Want to build here I think I want to build probably like an evil Mage Tower um if any of you come from my old from well not my old my main channel uh who have watched my content in the past you would know what I mean uh I made like a

Big lava prison in like both craftology which is a series that I canceled and also the pow World Series which I completed uh in both of them I built like a lava prison uh in this version because of the Lava Lakes uh but since this lava lake is a bit smaller um and

It’s not like next to a cliff or anything I’m going to just build a an evil Mage Tower cuz this is like one of few versions that has um Lava legs of this size on the surface uh we’re never going to get to see this again in the future

Unfortunately uh in fact the very next version removes this feature so uh that’s why I want to utilize this and build a mage Tower right here and after another jump cut we have the tower yeah you you can tell that I didn’t really try very hard with this

It’s again another very simple building is just a uh 7×7 cube with the corners cut off and a uh one of those traditional like pyramid roofs and I also made a little Bridge leading into it uh there’s nothing really in the tower there isn’t really a lot of space to work

With um so yeah but uh yeah that’s the tower I mean I could potentially expand on this uh a bit further but there isn’t that much space to work with I can build like a smaller Castle here whatever but yeah as I said this is a fairly small Lava

Lake i’ I’ve had much bigger in the past um with a lot more space to actually go wild uh believe it or not this might seem huge to you but for this version it’s uh I wouldn’t say small but it’s like average sized um and and besides I don’t really

Have a whole lot of time for these episodes I don’t I really don’t want these to exceed like 30 minutes if possible um I’ll just me rambling and and building even though some of you seem to enjoy that uh judging by the feedback that I got for the last from

The last episode but uh yeah still um we’re going to be going through these classic versions fairly quickly uh cuz again there isn’t that much to show off they’re very basic but I but I do want to experience them I want to experience the game at its fullest uh in order to

Get the most out of it um and especially for the video uh but yeah without that being said I think that’s going to do it for this episode uh next time we’ll be on 13 aore 03 very interesting version it’s one that I didn’t really enjoy all that much

Uh before cuz it’s kind of baren I mean all these really are baren but that one in particular didn’t really stand out to me but it has gone on me over the over the days over the years I should say but yeah until then um thank you very much
