EPIC Witch Farm Showdown in Minecraft!

Hello guys and welcome back to the kingdom so there’s a little bit of a problem with the snapshot this is the 13 17 and there’s about 1300 entities at the moment and my fps is starting to drop i’m now locked on 30 instead of 90 or 120 so yeah

I’m going to change this back to the previous snapshot and then i’ll get on with what we’re going to be doing today okay we’re back on 1316b and two things first of all this is a different headset it’s an astro a40 and we’ll talk about it more in other king talks episode

If i keep it um i’m not quite happy about a lot of things with it but we’re just trying it for the moment and then the second thing is that i actually marked out my spawn chunks wrong not really that badly but when i marked out the middle i came up

To this as the middle for some reason it’s the middle this way in this way but there’s five chunks that way and six chunks that way and for some reason i marked out six one side and thought do six the other this one wasn’t actually the middle

Actually that one there is the middle so basically it’s just an extra chunk on the end of it all and because of this next episode i will give a full download so you can actually check the new position just an extra chunk on the end that way a little bit

Annoying for my farms it also means that the center is actually just there not this one here so i’m gonna be inside the actual witch farm itself so today’s plan is actually to build the whole witch farm completely get the redstone in get the automation going and get some drops out that’s the

Whole plan and to prepare for these things we’re pairing over here for the iron farm so i’ve been clearing out all the area and i’ll show you what it looked like beforehand okay so in copy of the world this is roughly where i was standing a minute

Ago in the air and you can see this landscape is definitely a little bit different already and quite a bit different so let’s hop back and there you go so that took about 30 hours of my time and i did it all exclusively with just iron tools so to

Take very long time that’s all done now i was using all the iron from the farm the world’s been running a lot so i’ve actually got some iron now to do stuff with so i’m ready to do this which farm now i’m thinking of using end stone for the outside

But today we’re going to focus first of all on the actual pads themselves and prepare for this i have gone and dug out a nice big hole underneath it which will be the falling platform and also i may need to make it a little bit bigger but for now that’s what i did

And all the resources i got from digging all that out they’re in chests all down there so i still got them so i’ve got two pads of spawning and collect up some materials now some pistons and some redstone i’m going to go through why i decided to pick a certain design

Of farm i’m going to set it up and probably only have enough redstone to set up part of it and i have to wait to get some drops and then do some more which means i’m going to set up the first bit for it and

Show you how it works why it works and then i’ll start building the roof over it to get a nice dark and then we’ll finish it in some time so i’ll be right back in a bit okay let’s start the basics i gathered up some stuff

So when you have to do a witch farm you have two spoonable layers one at the bottom of the actual floor and the next one just on the roof level and i’ll link you to a witch thing cam to show you the actual spawning spaces for that and the overall spawning spaces are

Seven wide by nine long they include little front bit out so left leg’s in there so you’ve got one at the back and one the front and it also carries on the veranda thing at the front as well so it’s all spawnable which space those two floors with the rack now

We’re not going to be using the whole of the floors because i’ve been looking through the designs that i’ve seen around and trying to design my own but sometimes you come to the point where you know that the best design that you think anyway is already out there

So i’ve got one that i like from um impulse which i’ll link in the description as well i know you watch these videos so high impulse and we’ll change design very slightly but it’s basically the same thing i’m going to go through why we do certain things in these farms as well so

These farms i’m going to be using a six wide now this because it’s a six long shifting floor platform then we’re going to use a double fence gate says eight on that side and two more says ten then i’m going to use a glass block on either side of that

Which is quite standard these days so that’s 12 blocks and that’s as far as you can push them so you can’t do 15 blocks no it doesn’t work so i’m gonna first of all just mark out six that means i’m going to work from one side or the other so i’m going to

Pick to work from that side so that’s my six pieces of shifting floor like that one three four six yep so that’s going to make up the whole of the shifting floor design and now i’m going to add on a few extra bits so this is a bit more complicated

Because i could actually get underneath that and place these fence gates because you can’t place them on an empty thing and open them now this is so that you’re going to spawn other mobs in here apart from witches so slimes spiders you’re mostly looking at the spiders themselves

So the spider spawns you need to get a way of getting rid of them now we’re gonna be doing is a shifting floor design which is working on each um individual strip not moving the whole floor so things like spiders won’t fall through a shifting floor design

So we need to do is find a way of getting them out so using this mobs will fall through them if i can actually just get on that actually i’ll go around here now grind this bit maybe so mobs can fall through this as they’re open if they’re closed

Then oh i can do that actually yeah okay no they can’t yep when they open you fall through them when they’re not open you get stuck and then we’re gonna do is put a glass block on the end of that and then it’ll be the piston so let’s put anything there

And normal non-sticky piston so that is going to be each side now that’s very important because this piece of glass here stops the redstone signal from updating these and then closing them so this glass makes these stay open and also the glass isn’t a spawnable block so nothing can

Spot on top of it which is very nice and we do the same for the other side as well so we set up that for this whole thing and i’ll be right back okay so took my time and made this look very nice i’ve taken out all the water

Flattened it all over the half slabs and give it a nice little outside ring taking some of the sand from over there as well to start trying to clear that out two birds one stone is much easier so the actual farm itself i’ve put in two layers

And the first one is three blocks lower than the second one so that makes enough room for me to do some my wiring and i set up the pad so far and the mechanisms on each side the pistons so that is required no matter what design you do for this sort of thing

Anyway and i set up the redstone to do two of the shifting floors to begin with to give you an idea of what’s going to be happening so what this does is if the tripwire is pressed so there’s a mob inside it it will then invert this torch this torch gets turned off

This then starts a little redstone clock and sends out a one tick pulse that way and all that does is reset wherever the floor was so it pushes it that way and then what you have is a timer up here this one here is a longer timer than the one over here

So when it comes to finish its clock then one side will always be pushed again and keep it in one place hopefully or just make sure that it always moves one cycle because the idea is that if a mob gets stuck on top of it

As long as the mob is on top it will always keep pulsing and keep trying to shift it off it’s not going to go once and then if the mob doesn’t fall through then tough luck it’ll keep going now we’ll remove these bits when i’m ready that’s their safety still and

There isn’t a problem with this though this is impulses shifting smart shifting floor design so it’s a nice little thing to do it’s a simple clock and a wanted pulse but the problem is when you go to more than one layer which is a big problem

So i’ve got a little example over here i’m gonna put in these redstone blocks like so this exact same thing replicated and just put on top of each other so the problem comes in actually when it starts budding the previous piston now this is slight differential from his design what he does

Is removes that has a block there and just has a single slab underneath and we’ll just put i think like that and if you did that on top then you would create an even bigger circuit so you’ll be able to fit it in a tool and this bit here would be where this

Piston is so it doesn’t actually work at all for a witch farm not in this configuration anyway so what needs to do is look at whoops i move them i want to look at how to move the signal downwards and create a clock away from this clock up there

To keep it separate now i could keep that like it is and move this clock downwards sometime or somehow or i can move that one up and this one down or different ways of doing it so i’m going to look at a few ways and see if i can

Get them to work independently because at the moment as that has budded it will show this actually showing you why it’s not working that redstone block is budding that as it’s powering from above so if i go into this now it moves once and then get stuck

And it only moves once to begin with because this side hasn’t got that blood effect in it um so if let’s go here and i want to stop that doesn’t do anything at all and that’s a big problem so i’ve got some redesigning to do and i’ll be back with you

Hopefully with a solution and after quite a number of hours i came up with this so it’s one of the things actually you work out how to do and you’re just extremely pleased with it when it gets done and then you think someone’s gonna sit there and say x person did this already

And then you’d rage because i know i have not copied anyone for this because it i would like to have because this took me quite a few hours to work out how to shift them so that both floors work independently with their own clocks and have them resetting

And the issue was i could get them working with their own clocks anyway i that wasn’t a problem the problem is in these though to have a delay on one side that you can adjust so that the floors shift back and forward not just pulsate a piston so

Let’s give a look at this so you can see that this floor works works very well and then we’ll just show you that the bottom one does that as well because that didn’t happen before and here they are it goes back and forth very good that’s proof that it works now the

Redstone behind it’s a little bit well i’ll try and actually debate before recording this if this bit up here is more expensive than this bit or not um it uses some of the hoppers first time i’ve actually used a hopper timer i think and uh quite a nice little way of using

This so all it does is power top block so this top one here couldn’t be placed down here because it’s too tall but it really works well here so that power stop block that powers a repeater here which is the adjustable part of it same way as this clock here this

Adjustable part here and here so that goes to a piston pushes it down comes onto a hopper here i’ve actually got more than one thing in here not me to do that um meant to have one thing in each it doesn’t really matter but i was doing some mining stuff afterwards

So that item there goes back and forth when that piston is retracted so if there’s something on that that piston goes up this timer flicks back and forth then all i’ve got here is a comparator which then looks at that item if there’s one there then it’ll pulsate the piston

And then from then on it’s just the same as the low layer anyway there you go it retracts that this time it goes back and forth pulsates this makes one tick pulse and pushes it through so actually let’s move that torch you’ll see it working

No it does push it through but the point is this clock is on timer so it works very very well and i’m very very pleased with it very pleased with it and i’ll probably do a separate tutorial i’m gonna have time about the whole witch farm itself because i think

I’ve done really well on this and if i just copied and impulse one completely for the whole thing then i probably wouldn’t have but i think it’s a really nice way of combining together i’d like to see what the jl server came up for their one i know they’ve done this by now

So the problem is i have got not much more redstone stuff no really not this about all the redstone i have in the world and i could either go mining for a while or i could start covering this place up make it dark enough and get some which

Is spawning and just make sure that some of them fall down there and i collect them so i’ve got enough iron to make a whole load of hoppers so i can do that bit down there and set up the roof just collect some redstone and then carry on finishing their actual layers so

I want to make sure that only these ones in the front and the top front are spawnable i’ll replace the rest with blocks just block up spawn spaces and then i’ll start clearing up the top so i’m going to be using i think endstone and obsidian

Um i don’t know how they look together i was thinking of some kind of barrel looking thing so nice flat um end stone walls and then like rings where i’ve got here like rings now and then of obsidian and i might do some sort of pillar color as well but we can

Try and do different accents on them at a later date and if you get any suggestions of different colors when i finish it i’d love to know i’m quite happy about going back and making it look really nice afterwards i just really need this dome bit to be covered

To stop the light getting in and then the other bit i’ve got to do is make sure this light from the redstone itself doesn’t get to the spawning pads now from this i not actually sure if much large tool will get to the pads anyway

Um all i need to do is put a stair there and it should be okay but we’ll test it so back to after i started doing the roof and then i’ve covered up these and we’ll just see hopefully that a couple of witches spawn now we’re not expecting

Many witches to spawn at all because i’ve not cleared up any of the caves but a lot of this as underwater so maybe we’ll get a few spawning so i’ll be back in a while oh and there they go is working and i’ve ended part of the roof already

I wanted or just had a thought of making top bit in some sort of looking like an eye um it hasn’t really worked out how maybe i thought but a little bit different and i think at the moment i haven’t got enough stuff to keep getting tons of obsidian

So i keep this bottom bit netherrack at the moment and then i’ll replace the obsidian later on but these bits middle i think would be best just to have for netherrack um i did the sides with endstone and not sure about them as well but material

Was quite easy to get um i don’t really have the pickaxe stuff to even uh pick up tons of materials so it’s been a stuck thing on that the top is working out okay i’m gonna move all these layers down in the same sort of style so this will be gigantic

3d thing and actually there’s quite a lot which is going through there seeing that it’s only using two strips of the whole thing i’m quite pleased with that and it is getting some drops no it’s building up a little bit i have to afk a few nights and make sure

The wrestling comes through and then i can finish off the pads but the pads and the mechanism behind them are working really well very pleased with that and actually i had a look at the final version that um the jl server came up with for their design and i

Didn’t actually like their shifting floors i have to say um they were rather large and they used tons and tons of redstone blocks yeah i didn’t like it not for a single player survival anyway so go down here and just look at this do how much we got

And we got some so starting to come through starting to get some drops and really all we need the redstone at the moment and glowstone be lovely as well actually especially for lighting up my whole area so as i’m gonna have to wait for this quite a while to build up with materials

And it’s gonna be a long way doing that what i want to be doing is finishing this up between the episodes maybe on a king’s talks just make sure it’s all finished up and i’ll bring all of this roof down drawing the circles carrying them on

Bringing them down down down down at the end it should look pretty good i’m going to hold more mining as well to get some more another brick i do think it looks very nice and i love the contrast between the sandstone and then the brick so hopefully that’ll look okay when it

Comes down to here and then i’ll just do this wrap around here with obsidian on the bottom and the top and then get rid of these supports going up and just have that all as near the brick look pretty nice now the whole point of all this thing on the floor you

Probably have a question about all this all these lines on the floor and how to set everything out so i want to make this how maybe you set out a sort of a creative world now i really want to go all out and have this looking like

A model world like i said before i want this world to be a sort of showcase world for farms and have it nice really done done very nice and i hopefully i can get to that and part of it is this is going to be going all the way around

The whole spawn chunks mapping all out you’re placing this thing up here now i’ve even mapped out things like on this side if you’re looking west you’re on the zero here for this chunk and you’re 15 on the x value if you look on just a little

Bit where is looking it says 15 there and zero there that’s the chunk change now this bit here is not in spawn anymore so put a different color uh half slab for that and then you’ve got this one here now i can go and do is

Map every single chunk out here if i wanted to but at the moment i set up so that there are two rings all the way around two rings here two rings there and what these are doing are saying this side the actual little strip is part of this chunk so

This bit here to this bit here is one chunk then this bit here to the next bit is another chunk and i just map it out for a nice grid and that’s how i actually came up to the point where i realized that i’m had the middle in the wrong place because

I had too many lines going one way and not enough the other which was quite uh frustrating so what i want to do is have like an eye on top of that i’ll probably try and think of an easier way to do it to look a little bit better

Just so that from above i can look down upon it and see that i think a bit quite nice idea so i kind of am a little bit short today because i’ve got to spend quite a bit more hours finishing that up and then we’ll get on next time with

Building the iron trench now it’s going to go over here somewhere i think and i’ve got to try and make it go underground and it should be quite a fun thing to try and also go click to hold a redstone and iron to finish that as well

So this has to be going for a while so a lot of grinding for me to do now and hopefully over the next three or four episodes we will have the whole of the surface completely covered and flat i don’t know about filling in all the water yet but

All of this should be nice and flat even all this and then we get onto my england farm now for the enderman farm i had a bright idea oh there’s actually a witch there he just fell down that i would record me designing the enderman they’re swarming quite a lot actually

Aren’t they oh because that’s in the fully that’s from full dark now yeah that’s it so we can see from here that they still spawn because outside this radius of spawning that’s awesome okay i said i would try and record me designing the enderman farm probably two or three separate videos

Going through different parts of it the decision theory behind it and designing it with you and then maybe have some feedback from you guys if you can really think of anything i’ve done wrong in them and then we’ll sit there and we’ll do a final version on this world

So if you like the idea do say and i think i’d really like to set it out to you guys and give you a real taste of what it is to design a farm because mob farms are what i really enjoy doing and they are much more fun than a

Tiny wrist and contraptions and i’d rather use redstone contraptions inside farms so i think that will have to wrap up today and we will finish it by looking at the progress of the slime in this little slime farm and i did have a little look a minute ago before i started recording

And something quite funny has been happening in it um a little bit anyway small chance if i get over there um it’s working very well obviously it’s working good and it’s not quite in the corner of the chunks anymore but oh well i can have always have farms behind it and before

By the way when i had no levels um it shows as a bug in the snapshot that you just come up with no experience bar at all and here we’ve got a stacking a bit of ink a second ink of uh slime balls and we got some ink sacks

So actually there are some um squids spawning in that water the one size water and then they’re dying so it’s actually a multi-function farm we’ll just pretend that it was designed that way and luckily squid don’t go towards the mob cap they have their own water mob cap

Which is much better so don’t worry about all this water at all slowing anything down so yeah that is all i’m going to be covering today hopefully it’s still enough progress for you guys to manage and hopefully you’ll really look forward to me doing my iron file
