Redstone may seem complicated when you’re starting out but it doesn’t have to be so today i will teach you all the basics of redstone blocks and how they work in just 10 minutes starting with the redstone dust itself when powered it can transfer a signal up to 15 redstone Dust away as you can see with solid blocks you can’t transfer the signal through the edges but with glass and slabs you can actually do that and with glass and slabs you can also transfer the signal up like this through the edges but you can’t transfer it down Right clicking on a singular dust will turn it into a circle and it won’t power any blocks on the sides but it will still power a block below it the redstone torch you can use it to power redstone items above it or directly on the side But in addition to that you can also use a lever to turn off the torch a redstone torch is also useful when you want to invert the redstone signal redstone block gives off redstone signal to all the sides of the block including above and below but does not power the nearby blocks Can be used to power redstone or rails directly above them redstone repeater when powered with any strength of resistance signal it gives off a full strength resistance signal so you can extend the redstone as far as you would like it can also power blocks by default the redstone repeater will Have one redstone dig delay but with right clicking on the repeater the delay can be set up to four redstone digs delay also happens when d powering the repeater the repeater can also be locked with another repeater pointing into it from the side this makes it remain powered until the lock is removed It also works the other way around by not letting any signal through until the lock is removed now the redstone comparator when you input the redstone signal into it it outputs the exact same string signal from the other side for example having strength of 5 go into it And out comes 5 also as you can see But there are more functions with the comparator if you input the signal to it from the side it compares the strength of it to the back signal and if the side signal is stronger than the back signal then nothing comes true if the side signal is lower than the Back signal then it passes through for example having a signal strength of 10 go into the comparator and 11 on the side nothing comes true but when i set the signal on the side to also 10 it will still pass through so a comparator is just a thing that compares The signals but you can also right click to turn on the light here with this the comparator will divide the side signal from what passes through for example inputting a full strength resistor signal from the back and the signal strength of 10 from the side outcome strength of 5. Because 15 from the back minus 10 from the side is 5. comparators can also detect how full the chest is by just placing it next to the chest as you can see right now nothing happens but when i put the chest one third of the way full we get the strength of 5 And if the chest is completely full the strength is at maximum level 15. you can use it on any type of lock that stores items in them like shulker boxes dispensers hoppers and so on the piston can be powered from all sides except directly on the face of it When you want to activate it with redstone dust it doesn’t work directly behind it the redstone dust needs to be higher for the piston to activate since it activates the block since the piston isn’t considered a solid block only one piston will activate when powered from behind to Power two pistons at once just power the upper piston the maximum amount of locks you can push is 12 any more of that and it won’t work the sticky piston with this all the rest of mechanics are the same except the sticky piston can also pull blocks and If the blocks are all connected like slime or honey blocks you can push or pull up to 12 blocks talking about slime blocks with these every moveable surrounding block will stick to it and if you want it to be a pushable thing the same 12 blocks Maximum rule applies here so if you have 6 line blocks you can have up to 6 blocks attached to it to still be able to push and pull it then we have the honey blocks which are basically the same like slime blocks they can stick to blocks and push and Pull the valve of them but they don’t stick to slime blocks and since honey blocks are considered not full blocks then you can’t power them with redstone but you can power slime blocks the observer detects a block change happening in front of it but also detects a block state change happening Like each time the wheat grows a little bit the observer always outputs a one thick long redstone pulse from the back which for example can be used to turn a sticky piston into a thing that pushes and d attaches from the block up next the hopper this can be locked by Using redstone so blocks can move into it but not go any further and as i said before with the comparator you can see how full the hopper is dropper will drop items that are in it choosing each time randomly but it always drops them as an item With one redstone you can activate up to 5 droppers at once dispenser works the same way as the dropper but items that can be dispensed like water will come out as water can also shoot fire charges arrows and put stuff on fire from flint and steel Now the lectern this may not seem like a redstone item but it actually is when placing a book with many pages each time you go to the next page it outputs a one tick long register signal and with the comparator it outputs a redstone signal depending on what page you are on The target block gives off a redstone signal when shot with any kind of projectile and the more accurately you shoot to the center the stronger the signal will be lever can be used to keep constant resistance signal or activate and deactivate redstone items lightning rod when struck by lighting it Will emit the redstone signal for 8 ticks then we have the taillight detector emits redstone signal when it’s daytime but can also be right click to set into inverted mode then it will only emit redstone signal when it’s nighttime the skull sensor newest redstone item which detects vibrations in a 9 block radius Around it and emits a redstone signal for 40 game ticks or 2 seconds the closer the vibration is made the stronger the redstone signal will be a vibration can be a player or more moving a piston activating or even a block dropping near it but it won’t detect the warden You can also use wool to block it from detecting vibrations in certain directions tripwire hook works by placing two of them towards each other and at least one string in between the maximum length you can build it is 40 blocks long produces a redstone signal when an Entity is passing through the wire or a constant signal when something stays in the wire also activates for 10 ticks when any drip wire is destroyed the drop just produces a constant redstone signal when opened for example when you have a hopper below the chest items will not go in there instantly Only after you close the chest they will start moving there then the tnt this is pretty self-explanatory but it’s a redstone item since it can be activated with redstone redstone lamp again pretty simple item which can be activated with redstone the note block plays a note when activated with redstone The note can be changed by right clicking on the block and the instrument can be changed by putting another type of block below the note block it must have an empty air block above it or it won’t play any sound the stone button when clicked it produces a redstone signal for 20 ticks Or one second but it can’t be activated with arrows the wooden button will produce a longer redstone signal for 30 ticks or one and a half seconds and can be activated with arrows golden pressure blade otherwise known as the light weighted pressure blade when stepping on it or when shot with an Arrow it outputs redstone signal with the strength of one when adding entities on top of it or dropping items the signal increases as you add more items each entity move will add one extra strength until the maximum of 15 has been reached iron pressure plate known as the heavy Weighted pressure blade this will also work with arrows and use standing on it outputting redstone signal with the strength of one but to activate it more you need to drop 10 times more items so to get the strength of 2 you need to drop 10 more items strength 3 drop Another then items and so on same thing applies with all the mobs and entities on top of the pressure blade the wood and pressure blade this can be activated fully with arrows any entity player or mobs and just a single one is needed the stone pressure blade this is the Only one that doesn’t activate with arrows or entities only players and mobs can activate it and that is it all redstone
