Good morning everybody it’s me your boy axel waddle hope you’re doing swell today when it comes to big days yes yesterday was definitely a big day after such a long time in development the second half of the caves and cliffs update 1.18 is finally here in today’s video we’re Going to take a look at 1.18 and talk all about it this one’s called everything and 1.18 1.18 is a really big update because we’ll be talking about so much i’ll cut this video up into sections for you you can find the sections down in the description and Right by the description you can actually find the like button it’s pretty insane also tomorrow marks a new chapter i’ll be beginning a brand new survival experience on this channel where i’ll do cool things like steal from villagers make iron golems mad build farms you know things like that Now is a great time to subscribe so you can experience it all let’s start our update talk today with a little bit of bedrock java talk 1.18 is great news for parity there are a lot of updates inside of this update that bring things closer than ever before one of The biggest ones is seats 1.18 has a brand new seed system which means if you take a seed from an old world and 1.17 put it into 1.18 it’s completely different kind of sad the plus of this is a lot of seeds are the same not every Single seed but a lot for today’s video i’ll be doing things on java edition and talking about the java version of the update but really for the most part everything is basically the same so if you play bedrock this video is good too i broke things up into categories for This video and then i broke those categories up into categories so in 1.18 what is new one item there is a new music disc in 1.18 and then tons of really really huge game-changing changes there is also some other changes to things already in the game and then texture updates and then Mob updates let’s start with the changes just like the more recent minecraft updates 1.18 comes with a brand new title panorama why is it nighttime i don’t know i’ve been wondering that since they changed it to this but it looks really nice the mountains are huge the creator world screen looks pretty Much exactly the same other than one tragic fact uh unfortunately 1.18 floating island world cave world types if that was your favorite type uh they’re not here when you load up a war than 1.18 right off the bat different different is the vibe that’s gonna be the tone for this update 1.18 Changes literally every single biome in the game because of the brand new generation system the generation system has basically been upgraded i mean in my opinion this brand new generation system is basically the best upgrade of all time to minecraft like everything looks so much better now things are gonna be a Lot more hilly but there are still flat areas so don’t worry about that swedish river the fjord look at this thing the rivers are actual real rivers now a common theme that you’ll be able to find at 1.18 is boats you can actually use boats to sail down rivers now they don’t Just get cut off as consistently it’s so nice so right over here at spawn and this random seed that i created hilly and then flat over there we have both alongside the new generation system we have a new biome placement system and biome placement should hopefully make a Little bit more sense now i mean the game is still minecraft so things are going to be weird but usually you should be able to find warm biomes uh next to other warm bottoms so like savannah and desert together right here we have a savannah turning into a forest and then A beach and then an ocean oh yeah all of this kind of makes sense there’s no like random snow biome in here but i’m not saying that that can’t happen because uh definitely uh weird generation can definitely still happen like that so all of that is cool but also all of that is The surface what about the underground well the underground has been completely changed every single cave that was in the game before completely gone we have three brand new cave types there are cheese caves there are spaghetti caves and there are noodle caves the three cave types uh we’ll talk a little bit More about them in a minute but under the ground new caves all over the place the caves are bigger the caves are dark there we go that’s a little bit better the caves are bigger they’re crazier than ever before and they’re also deeper the bottom of the world is Now negative 64. the upper generation limit in the world is going to be about 260. generation from my experience usually seems to get capped to 256 though you can build all the way up to 319 now though that’s insane exploring under the ground in 1.18 is going to be A completely different experience the cave shapes change everything also wars are going to generate new spots and dungeons you’ll be able to find more of them especially below y0 amethyst yields were added in 1.17 the first half of the caves and cliffs update in the second Half they are capped at y-32 if you’re looking for a geode you’re gonna have to go a little bit deeper that means less geos on the ocean floor which is kind of sad but it’s fine i guess i mean the ocean floor knife vision thing that was so cheaty you’ve probably seen A lot of footage of these new caves they’re like really really cool they can get absolutely massive but just in case you haven’t here’s a little bit right here walking through a cave really really big here we are like right at y zero we have deep slate starting to fade In every single cave below y zero will be made out of deep slate instead of stone it’s actually pretty cool but the caves if you want to see more of the caves uh my survival experience the survival series beginning tomorrow did you hear about it yet alright so the different cave types so First we have cheesecake this cave right here is a cheesecake cheese caves have these pillars connecting the floor to the ceiling and usually they’re pretty big and open sometimes they can be a little bit more claustrophobic sometimes they can be gigantic and even more open big characteristic of this cave type Though is the pillars next up we have noodle caves so you see this cave right here it’s kind of like winding along but it’s not too cramped but yeah this cave right here looks a little bit like the old caves yeah that’s a noodle cape noodle caves are gonna look a little bit Like the old caves and then finally spaghetti caves so you see this thing right here like insanely insanely tight going like steep down all the way down here there’s diamonds up there that’s cool but yeah really really tight cramped that’s the spaghetti cape spaghetti caves are kind of like noodle Caves except way more tight those are the three main pieces of the new caves these pieces can generate anywhere up high down low no matter the bottom doesn’t matter at all if you find a cave under an ocean in this update the cave is more likely to be flooded no matter What type of cave you find that that cave has a chance to have a biome or not if it doesn’t have a biome it’ll just have the same biome as whatever it is on the surface if it has a biome like this right here then it’ll become that biome The first cave biome that is in 1.18 is the drip zone gave biome there are a couple pieces to the drip stone cape piece one is this giant thing right there big big pillars of drip zone solid drip zone too by the way so if you need These blocks a good spot to find them you have pointed drips on the floor on the ceiling you have more copper and you have drown that can spawn in the aquifers inside of this bottom really the drift zone caves is a cool biome but the lush caves biome is way more cool Like the lush gabe’s biome just the best cave biome by far i’m obsessed with this place like look at this so many plants all of the cave update plants are inside of here basically axolotls will spawn inside of this biome tropical fish will spawn inside of the biome and the light The light is so nice inside of this biome because of the cave vines like i just love this place also the only new survival thing in 1.18 other than the music disc the sport blossom well this is where you get it drip zone caves lush caves those are the two brand new cave Bombs they aren’t the only biomes in this update though also in this update we have a handful of new mountain bombs the mountain bombs work a little bit differently basically uh certain mountain bombs generate lower down on a mountain other ones go higher up a peak Is going to be at the top a meadow is going to be near the bottom this is a metal right here the metal grass color is kind of like the tiger we have flowers all over the place sometimes a jury can generate inside of this biome It’ll be tall and it’ll have a bee nest also you can have villages inside of the meadow but they’re just the plains villages no new village this is the grove biome there’s snow next up the snowy slopes bottom truly the snowy slopes bomb it’s all about snow inside of this biome You’ll find snow a lot of it including some deeper patches of powder snow that make it a little bit more dangerous the snowy slopes bottom generates typically a little bit higher up on mountains and you’ll be able to find goats spawning here finally our peak bombs so peak Bottoms will usually generate at the highest point on a mountain except it doesn’t exactly always happen so like over here we have a frozen peaks bomb really cool one of the best peak biomes uh ice all over the place really nice but uh kind of uh actually a little bit lower Than the metal this time uh yeah generation biome placement is still it’s die that’s all i can say that noise whatever that is here we go here’s a proper peak and a proper mountain this peak biome is the jagged peaks the jaga peaks is up there basically stone and snow and look At this thing they look so good like the mountain peaks i don’t think i’m ever gonna get tired of these things like they’re amazing they’re so good one of my favorite parts about the updates for sure i couldn’t have given you a worse example of the frozen peaks bomb though Look at this place and all of its glory the packed ice all over the place the snow the stone it looks so so good and actually the mountains formed like uh pretty logically here we have a metal biome right there then we have the frozen peaks up there up top and over Here the final peak biome may be the best stony peaks so far the other two peak biomes that we looked at are colder peak biomes the sony peaks biome is a little bit of a warmer peak if we have a warm bottom that goes into a mountain Like a savannah then it’ll probably if everything works out right i turn into a sony peaks bottom over here we have a metal that is a little bit colder so turned into the frozen peaks i actually completely forgot to show the seed off in yesterday’s videos this is the seed Right there this is the coordinates and then back here is basically the most amazing looking sony peace bomb you’ll ever see look at this thing it’s like a proper mountain peak going into the sky looks so so good and also inside of this biome if we’re lucky calcite you can Find gigantic patches of calcite generating inside of this biome like that right there this stuff is so good calcite and survival in large amounts like look at this line that’s so much calcite the stony peaks bomb are stone mountain peaks with calcite there’s a lot more to each biome like what mobs Can spawn there what else can you find generating inside of those biomes but i have to keep things moving today what i might do is make a dedicated video to all the new bombs let me know if you like that idea next up real quick let’s take a look at Mob changes we’ll start with the water mugs the cod the salmon the puffer fish the tropical fish the squid and the dolphin all of these water mobs will still be able to spawn in water except now the water needs to be in between 64 and 50. any water that’s deeper than That it’s not going to work on the other hand glow squid and 1.17 glow squid spawning mechanics were pretty strange complicated in 1.18 it’s simple glow squid can spawn in water below y-30 the rabbit can now spawn on snow vindicators evokers witches ravagers and pillagers will now all no longer attack Baby villagers additionally the vindicator and the evoker no longer have hood textures inside of their texture files that was weird do you have a donkey a horse or a mule and you want them to follow you except you don’t want to ride them or anything like that well Simple golden food why golden food i have no clue but apparently all three of these mobs like golden food that’s gonna be golden carrots golden apples or enchanted golden apples if you’re pure luxury the llama well the llama is a simple guy the llama will follow you if You’re holding a hay bale you don’t need any gold food or anything fancy like that literally just a hay bill sometimes you may ask the question the wither boss the parrot the zombie villager what do these three things have in common well in 1.18 they all got texture fixes in Some form if you’re looking for an axolotl lush caves if you’re looking for a goat the new mountains that does it for the mob changes in this update speaking of changes changes 1.18 the only new thing in 1.18 like an actual physical item is going to be a music Disc you can find this music disc inside of the stronghold hallway chests or inside of dungeon chats the music disc is really nice but we don’t have time to listen to it today so uh check out the video card on screen now i listened to more of it there in 1.18 Big drift fleet placement is now restricted to these blocks that you’re looking at right here not the chest though 1.18 actually brings a really nice quality of life update to vines so let’s say you have bonds in your world you’re using them and you just don’t Want them to grow anymore well easy all you need is a pair of shears now so let’s say i have these twisting binds and i wanted them to stop growing right there shears on the top one the noise plays nothing actually aesthetically changes about it but now it won’t grow Same with these ones right there same with these ones right here and actually same with kelp two if you decorate with kelp you can actually stop it from growing same exact way just use shears on the tip for the very first time ever the conduit now actually has something that You should mine it with a pickaxe if you mind a conduit with a pickaxe it will break faster you see how fast that was like i don’t use conduits a lot i will soon but like that was so different oh my gosh this next change the next one it Might as well get like change of the year this stuff is amazing this should have happened as soon as copper was added but it’s fine it didn’t happen it’s happening now so in 1.17 if i mine copper or 2-3 it’s randomized maybe i get lucky and get three one point eight You know oh you’re even more lucky two to five right off the bat that’s so much better i mean it doesn’t sound like much but like it’s gonna add up definitely absolutely for sure eventually you mind a lot of copper you could eat a lot of Raw copper take it to a furnace melt it up turn it into blocks of copper then you’re gonna build with the stuff you’re gonna turn it into cut copper maybe uh cut copper inside of the stone cutter quadruple this stuff how does it work logically it does not logic at all nope Uh but that’s how it works and it’s amazing you can actually like basically duplicate copper just built into the game it’s amazing it’s gonna make it so much easier to build with this is an enchantment table maybe you’ve heard of them they’ve been on the game for a minute now only kind of Important while the enchantment table has a texture update inside of this update that icon right there is a little bit different and this is an enchantment table at night time on java edition these things give off light now light level seven this is actually a parody Update bedrock had it before this is so nice especially paired with the mob spawning change this is amazing underneath the water you will now find more magma blocks generating this is to help with those water caves if you’re looking for buried treasure and you actually find it you’ll now be able to Find water breathing potions inside the buried treasure effects will now be shown off on the right side of your inventory instead of the left that means the recipe book it doesn’t block them they’re over here now this is such a small change but i love it this means we Won’t have to close that recipe book to check out the effects that we have all we need to do is look inside of the inventory i love these small quality of life updates in 1.18 villagers should now be a little bit more spread out um you know kind of like this right here A little bit and 1.18 tied to the new generation and bottom system some bottoms have been removed except not really so you see this hill right here it’s a forest and it’s hilly maybe before this would have been hilly forest now this time it’s all just forest things are a lot More simple it’s nice you also might find some bombs that sound a little bit different like windswept savannah old growth tiger except they’re not really new bombs the names have just been changed that’s something i’d talk a little bit more about in a dedicated 1.18 biome video the clouds are taller Than ever in 1.18 cloud height has been moved all the way up to 192 from 128 so this one’s a little bit tricky to explain but uh basically there was a problem with weather and sleeping uh it’s midnight right now if i lay down on this bed and sleep it’s gonna roll it Over to day time and the weather cycle will be reset even though it’s like not raining hasn’t rained in a long time it’ll just be reset back to clear if you hate things like the rain and thunderstorms it’s probably good news that would mean that you would basically Never see them but never seeing them that’s not how the devs meant it to be now when you sleep the weather cycle will only be reset if it’s raining or thunderstorming if it’s clear weather the cycle isn’t reset that means you can finally actually experience rain alright So one of the biggest changes in 1.18 actually has to do with mob spawning lighting things like that so for the longest time this has been basically the same that’s the torch down there the torch gives off a light level of 14. if we go all the way out to this spot right Here this black has a light level of seven before this is where things like creepers and zombies would be able to start spawning they could spawn here and here and here and here and all the way out now uh you’re gonna need a light level of zero which means this torch Will effectively light up all of this space all the way up to this spot right here so everything inside of the green blocks is safe all because of that torch everything on the outside including the green blocks not safe that’s where hostile mobs can spawn this is a huge Huge change the devs most likely implemented this because you know the caves are bigger and if you wanted to light one of those things up i mean let’s be honest it would take like a really long time especially if it’s a big cave this is so nice this change is Huge and really it affects a lot normal survival experience building farms things like that for example let’s say we wanted to light up this field the area on screen right now depending on how good we were with our torch placement we might be able to pull that Off with like 10 12 torches before if we wanted to pull that off 20 or more easily because of this mob spawning change it also makes things like redstone torches lower levels of candles sea pickles just dimmer light sources in general way more useful you can place a Soul campfire down and it’ll actually create like a decent amount of safe area if you have something really bright like lanterns then oh boy you can spread those things out like crazy light up your bass really effectively and make it really aesthetic too no more need for Torch spam i’ll probably end up doing it anyways though texture updates texture fixes 1.18 comes with a lot of them in 1.18 tons of textures were corrected on screen are all of the textures that were fixed and now some of these textures are on the actual block some of them are Like inside of the block like that right there the anvil hammer and then some of them are in item form like look at these doors the signs the first time i saw this stuff like mind-blowing like it’s such a small change but it looks entirely different the item frames item Frames are a really really big one place it down too well i think that’s the same actually all of the things on this wall right here have all had their item form texture updated though and some of these texture updates like really really significant out of all of these ones Though the biggest one is definitely going to be stripped dark oak log strip dark oak log is now actually dark oak log it’s not as close to spruce this is great this makes this thing so much more useful for building super excited about this one since the stuff was added in 1.14 it’s always been bugged can’t wait to actually finally get to build with this stuff and have a look how it’s meant to or changes alongside a total overhaul of the terrain in 1.18 or distribution has also been completely changed check out this chart right here this chart is from the developers this Is the official or distribution of the 1.18 update the chart is pretty easy to interpret basically the thicker the line the more common the thing is where the line starts and where the line ends is where the ore generation starts and ends running through these things one by one For you starting with coal coal will generate evenly in between y 136 and 256 so up high in the mountains coal will also generate as a spread so like a triangle peaking at y96 between y0 and 192 copper so copper is pretty interesting and now the actual text of The caves and cliffs change log says something different but this is just going off of the chart copper looks like it will generate in between y negative 16 and y 112 really big range the best spot to find copper is going to be y48 you’ll also be able to find more copper Generating inside of the drip zone cave bomb and a side of copper or vents which brings us to orvans another brand new component of the 1.18 underground so underground in 1.18 above y0 you’ll be able to find copper orbitings these copper orbins are made up of granite copper ore and sometimes raw copper They’re going to be really really rare i’m not too sure if i’m looking at one right here it doesn’t seem like there’s very much copper but at the same time there kind of is like a little bit of copper in here so maybe this is an orbit There are two deck giveaways for these orbeez finding a lot of the ore type next to whatever block also makes up the vein so copper roaring granite or finding a block of raw oil if you find a block of raw copper one hundred percent it’s an orvin the zora vans are super Rare but they’re also massive if you’re lucky enough to find one thousands of ore like literally like pure profit iron or veins also exist if you’re looking for an iron ore vein start below y zero look for a lot of tough and a lot of iron ore this time it’ll end up being Deep solid iron because of how deep they are thankfully for iron generation that’s not all though iron can also generate beginning at y80 all the way up to the top of the world peaking at 232 so mountains iron will also generate between negative 24 and 56 peaking at 16. iron will also also generate evenly between negative 64 and 72 gold the gold ore gold will generate between a negative 64 and 32 peaking at negative 16 and then extra gold will generate down below negative 48 you’ll also be able to find more gold generating inside Of the badlands bomb above y32 lapis the lapis will actually generate almost anywhere under the ground it’ll generate as a spread between y negative 32 and 32 peaking at y 0 and also evenly between negative 64 and 64. however this lapis will always be buried like you’ll have To dig through blocks for it kind of like ancient debris redstone redstone is going to be really really easy to find if you’re deep down in a cave from the looks of the chart it looks like redstone is maybe going to be the most common orb well definitely the most Common ore deep down resin will generate evenly between negative 64 and 15 and as a spread between negative 64 and negative 32 increasing in commonness the deeper you go diamonds so the upper limit of diamond ore is actually going to be pretty similar to what it was Before that’s going to be y16 lower limit is the bottom of the world and diamonds will generate as a spread between negative 64 and 16 peaking lower so like the bottom of the world and finally emeralds emeralds will generate inside of mountain biomes between negative 16 and 256. they’ll get more Rare the deeper you go so negative 16 that’s gonna be like insanely uncommon to find emerald and keep in mind it needs to be inside of a mountain biome too or generation ranges that doesn’t that’s what they are right now as a 1.18 now it wouldn’t surprise me if in the Future like 1.18.1 or whatever versions come after they actually make some adjustments to these but we’ll have to wait and see and finally a couple technical changes and bug fixes according to the 1.18 release log 1.18 comes with about 250 bug fixes that’s a lot in terms of some technical changes We have a brand new toggle inside of here simulation distance this is gonna help performance if you’re lagging a lot lower this thing down if your game is so smooth like it performs great you could raise this a little bit higher now the simulation distance will affect things Inside of your world the simulation for example if you lower this thing down to five chunks and then you move more than five chunks away from say a village then the villagers are gonna lock up they’re not gonna know what to do if you keep this a little bit higher you can get Further from the village and the villagers will still move around this can affect farms right across from simulation distance this chunk builder toggle is also new auto save indicator is new it will pop up in the bottom corner of your screen you can turn the indicator on and off here are some more Technical changes from the 1.18 release log there is a lot of technical stuff here what does it mean well technical stuff obviously yes advancements are cool i love them the update added four new advancements these are what the advancements are right here but i think that just about does it Minecraft 1.18 everything inside of the update there you go
