Mud and mud bricks are going to be in the minecraft 1.19 update in this video we take a look at this awesome new building block and everything we know about it let’s check it out minecraft 1.19 mud will generate in the swamp biome and in the mangrove swamp biome Something like this this is not actually the generation i just filled in the dirt with mud to show it off but this is something like what it would look like in the swamp biome and also in the mangrove swamp biome now this is mud you Can see here that this mud block is kind of an interesting texture doesn’t really remind me of mud but this is the texture that mojeng chose now something interesting about this blocks it actually has some very interesting sounds to it if you hear it there certainly unique sounds to any other Block in the game in fact all the varieties of mud have that now when you’re on top of mud like let’s say going from grass to mud you might notice our entire view goes down by one pixel that’s sort of like it does with soul sand where you’re actually kind of one Pixel lower or maybe a little bit lower you can kind of see we’re kind of bumping over that a little bit we’re kind of going over there that’s because this functions like soul sand the fact that when we’re on it we are technically a little bit lower than on normal blocks Although it is the same speed as normal blocks and certainly not slow like soul sand now you don’t have to find this in the mangrove swamp or in the swamp biome to actually have it in fact you can get this block very easily and alternative way especially because as of right now It’s not generating anywhere naturally in the game the way you get mud is to right click with a water bottle on a piece of dirt you can see that just turn that dirt into mud we can break the mud with our fist but the quickest tool is a Shovel sort of like what you’d think it would be you can also do this with a dispenser if a dispenser is facing a dirt block and you flick it you can see that just turned into mud and of course without anything else in front of that that’ll just spit out the glass bottles But it is interesting that you could automate a way of having dirt turn into mud also a planned feature of mud that’s not currently in this snapshot is that if you have drip stone right beneath some mud just like this it will slowly dry out the mud and have that mud turn Into clay meaning that you’ll be able to convert dirt into clay with just some drip stone and some water bottles which i think is pretty nice considering that although clay is very plentiful in things like the lush caves it would be awesome to have something as completely Common as dirt being able to be turned into clay especially since clay can be turned into terra cotta and that can be turned into glazed terracotta so it’ll actually be a way in minecraft 1.19 to literally turn dirt into glazed terracotta and on top of that you can Even renewably get dirt with gravel and dirt turning into coarse dirt so you could have a way of getting infinite terra cotta or glazed terracotta but when it is in the game it’ll function something like it does right here now as well as mud this update is going to add Muddy mangrove roots now muddy mangrove roots are going to be when a mangrove tree grows next to mud that mud will turn into muddy mangrove roots just like this this block is actually directional something like a log you can see that there’s the side texture there’s the top Texture so we place it like this placing it on the side we can see it’s kind of the side texture like this so you can make some really interesting builds with this with this really creepy looking block as you have that cool root texture overlaying the mud texture and unlike Lichen with it just sitting on top of a block this is actually its own block of the muddy mangrove roots you could almost say that this block is mud logged although that’s certainly not the way this functions it does sort of look that way but this block is purely Decorational at this point although it will generate with the mangrove trees even then there is currently no planned use of this block now mud has a very special ability it’s not just this boring block if we break a whole bunch of mud right here and we collect it just Like that we also collect some wheat right here once we have both our wheat and our mud and we go over to our crafting table if you put the wheat in here and the mud like there that will convert that into packed mud so one wheat plus one mud in a shapeless recipe Gives you packed mud we could also technically do this in our personal crafting grid as this is a shapeless recipe of only two components now once you have packed mud not only do you have this really cool looking block it also has very interesting sounds to it you Can kind of hear that sharp place down sound right there sounds a bit muddy just like slap just like that very cool also its best tool is not the shovel it is the pickaxe as you can see right here this is not breaking very quickly with our shovel But once you have the packed mud you can turn this into mud bricks so the recipe for that is two by two just like that we can do that in our personal crafting grid like that as well and that gives you mud bricks and there’s different Varieties of the mud bricks there is the mud brick slab there is the standard mud brick there is the mud brick stairs and there is the mud brick wall even just hearing the sound of this this also has some really interesting sounds to it i left out all these different new mud Blocks no matter how similar to each other they are the brick variants the packed mud and the mud all have different sounds that all sound quite cool the sound of this mud brick in particular is quite nice so to actually get these other variants it’s very Similar to most blocks in the game where you can do it in the crafting grid but you can generally have it work a lot better in a stone cutter if you try and put packed mud into a stone cutter it doesn’t do anything but if we put the Mud bricks into the stone cutter that will give us various options such as the mud brick slab the mud brick stair and also the mud brick wall there’s not too many variants of this but they’re quite nice of course we can craft that like this the three mud bricks there in the Traditional stair shape like this although it is a bit wasteful and also the mud brick wall in a pattern like that now the actual texture of this blocks is quite a unique one if we take a look it is similar to other brick textures but it has some key differences The bricks of this brick wall are a lot smaller than they would be on normal brick walls we can kind of see three and two halves of a brick on here whereas on most normal bricks we can’t see that many so it’s nice to see the texture of That be something a bit more unique also there is a sort of tannish brown texture to this that really isn’t in many other blocks in the game and so it’s really great for building that way too you even get these cool sounds when walking on it It’s not that hard of a block so it’s definitely not the best thing for a fortified wall especially since unlike every other brick block in the game you can literally break this with your hands and it will drop the block even but still you can use it to build some Really incredible things i have some examples of that right over here if we take a look i built a mud brick house using mud bricks packed mud and some different blocks here this is an example of how this block could be used to make some truly unique builds for instance Here we have this little house it has some nice brick floor we have this brick windows and we have this chimney here next to a campfire so if you look outside that does make a rather nice chimney and there’s enough variety between the packed mud and the mud Bricks that we actually can make a decent house although sandstone is probably a bit more so this block also reminds me of something you might see in a pyramid or some sort of an egyptian type block it looks really nice you can also see over here we have our nice wall Here works rather normally and something i like quite a bit is that packed mud is sort of almost looks like sandstone so if you have your packed mud combined with mud bricks you can have that nice texturing there so it’s not just all bricks which probably wouldn’t really Look the best whereas with the packed mud there and the mud bricks in combination we have that really nice look also with these jungle doors you can see they do blend in rather well with our mud and the slabs make a nice roof also bye to these brick blocks Because we’re done with the video You Video Information
