Hey what’s up guys it’s me Shane Dawson and welcome back to your series the minecraft guide with me Shane Shane Dawson yes welcome back everybody hope you doing well today so we have a stream recap to do right off the bat now in the last stream Thursday 3:00 p.m. Eastern over on Micra Which as always we found some good good stuff I mean how would you take a look at this and maybe this maybe this this as well a Golden Apple this book right here and oh boy look at the inventory something even better we found a diamond which is well that’s okay we’ll talk About that a little later though we found a swamp that’s what the lily pad represents and these beautiful beautiful saplings oh wow this is a it was a really good day it was seriously huge we finally have dark oak saplings which means we can finally start actually Using this stuff in builds I’ve been missing it it’s been thirty of four episodes without these saplings which that’s that’s a wave that’s not actually thirty four episodes longer than I’m comfortable really if I’m being honest so yeah now we also got a thirty and nine emeralds by so you see villagers Produce hay bales and their villages they have hay bales I went ahead and seize those hay bales and resold them to to the workers and that’s how I made my money not too proud of it but that’s exactly how it happened elites is so that is a total of three mending books That we can buy from Sandy now we’re gonna go ahead and do something very very different today today I’d like to actually go ahead and explore the nether we have definitely spent enough time without a decent bow in this world so right off the bat here we’re gonna go Ahead and craft a good brand new bow and chant it and watch this we are definitely going to get good enchantments right here okay well hey not the best the power three but we have power bar right here we can probably combine those two bows but let’s go Ahead and do that one more time that luck was pretty decent we have an infinity vote out too which is really cool I won’t even need this book which is awesome for infinity okay so what do we do what do we do what do we do do we because This one has unbreaking you see when exploring the nether having a good ball on hand will make your life a whole lot easier because the gasps they’re definitely annoying they’re a big problem and if you don’t have a good bow well I you’re gonna have to try and Bounce fireballs back at them and that’s not really funny gets old fast so we have this really good bow and then we have this one I really need unbreaking 3 on the bow for sure so I’m thinking that will will definitely start by taking this boat right there now do we have Enough love oh we do we can get a power 5 bow right there on braking 3 and infinity oh wow this bow deserves a really good name wow that’s good ah Walter has been to log welcome back to the world welter this bow is named Walter and it is our good good god both this is amazing so to go ahead and finish things off we need to get one arrow and one error only and put it in our inventory now I get the question all the time infinity bow or mending bow I Am definitely an infinite evil person because bows the this seem to last a really really long time so infinity is a whole lot more useful than mending whenever we need to heal this thing up we can just combine it with our random bows hopefully whenever we need to heal It up we actually have a skeleton farm and then we’ll have tons of extra bows but if not I mean we have a spider barb we can farm trees and really just keep healing this mow up until it’s too expensive once it’s too expensive well we’ll be Able to make a brand new bow so will leads today we we need to have a talk a big pig talk because today’s episode is gonna be a little bit different but don’t worry the talk is good so this past Wednesday February a I don’t Remember the J 2020 snapshot 20 W 0-6 a released that is the first snapshot of the 1.16 another update now if you haven’t heard yet then you probably live under a rock because it was it was pretty big there’s a bunch of new blocks a couple new biomes and even an entire New gear set which that’s huge that is like the first time that’s happened in like 10 years no joke pretty big stuff now as I mentioned before of this world the season will probably end before the nether update releases but I’m not 100% sure if it does then before the nether Update though that means we’ll never see the nether update in this world which is kind of a bummer I’m very very curious I also really haven’t had the chance to explore the upcoming nether in survival quite yet and so I think that’s actually going to be the plan today Now before making this episode I went ahead and ran a poll on Twitter asking you guys about this idea and it seemed that you guys kind of liked the idea so today we’re gonna talk about how you can actually play in snapshots then we’ll go ahead and back up this world load it Into a snapshot and explore the nether after this episode we’ll actually downgrade the world right back over to the normal version and continue on just like normal almost like nothing happened at all so we should go ahead and run over here and grab some blocks to Explore the nether we have the bow we have the arrow and we have the food so I think that’s enough of a lead and I think it’s time to go ahead and slide over to the first 1.16 snapshot so here we are on the beautiful beautiful menu To talk about snapshots so first what is a snapshot a snapshot is a test version of Minecraft Java edition snapshots usually come out weekly once they begin so that means the next Wednesday when they usually come out there should be another another update snapshot and your Boy will be covering it so keep your eyes out for that yeah but anyways the snapshots are test versions a test version it usually has more bugs and performs a little bit worse so just just know about that if you have Java Edition you can play snapshots though so first We need to change our profile so we can change your profile by clicking on this area right over here now if you see a latest snapshot profile you are already good to go if you don’t see it we’ll have to add one adding one is pretty easy slide up to the installations tab On the top of the screen and then press new right here you can name it whatever you’d like so maybe snapshots but I’m not going to keep this one now you’ll want to say your version to latest snapshot it should be right at the top of this menu now interestingly you can Scroll back through here and change your version to pretty much any version of Minecraft that has ever been released there there’s a lot here so check it out if you’re bored one day but we need latest snapshot today now the other stuff in this menu is a Little bit more technical you can just basically ignore this stuff today right here though you can change the icon of your profile kind of cool it doesn’t mean a thing though after you’re done go ahead and press create in the bottom corner back over on the menu screen and Make sure you change your version over to the latest snapshot and then go ahead and hit play give it a minute and your game should load up if you did everything correctly you should see your snapshot version in the bottom left corner so that is how you get snapshots Actually get that question quite a bit so there you go now it’s time to back up our world and check it out so single player minecraft guide now again snapshots are buggy you should definitely do a backup before diving in so if you click on your world to play it You have two options right here backup and load or I know what I’m doing now I definitely want to back this world up because we cannot lose it and we probably can’t downgrade from the snapshot so backup and load and then the game’s gonna freeze but it’s doing Something it’s backing your world up so boom there we go we have backed up and we are in the world in minecraft 1.16 snapshots but real quick before we check things out the backups if you backed up your world it will be located inside of your damn minecraft folder in the Backups folder go ahead and open that folder and you should see your backup right there whenever you’re done with the snapshots you’ll need to unzip this file and put it inside of your worlds folder in the dot minecraft folder then you’re good to go in your original Minecraft world and boom that is a backup tutorial as well but I think we’ve waited long enough I think it’s time to finally go ahead and head over to the nether now everything that we do in this episode from this point on will not be saved so there is no point in Building anything at all the armor isn’t the best but hopefully we’ll have an okay time now the first thing that I’m very curious about is how minecraft 1.16 will handle the old nether so in here we have all of these chunks loaded in these should all be the same and definitely That looks to be the case but if we go down into the nether and then move a little bit of ways and generate new terrain that new terrain and it should be uh well it should be new terrain that means we should be able to find the new Biomes which oh boy they are beautiful beautiful biomes all right right off the bat the new sounds on the nether act this is really really different I love all of the new sounds I mean I think there’s new songs for Jing too uh yeah definitely that is New and that sounds really really good now this has all been loaded in so this is the same as always it looks like yeah now we haven’t really gone this way in another at all quite yet so I think if we can actually get over to that ledge And then start going this way in general we should find the new biomes before too long so let’s just go ahead and dig a bunch we’re gonna need to be really careful we still probably shouldn’t follow the lava that would complicate things where’s the exit oh okay that’s The act that’s not the exit I’m looking board oh right this is the exit I’m looking for so this is still the same we’re still really really close to what we’ve generated already but over this way if we could navigate yes we definitely can of this way should be the New terrain do I just jump there um you know what we’re gonna mark this so I can remember how to get back and we’re just gonna go ahead and jump mmm now which way let’s keep going that way oh this is another new thing so this biome that we’re encouraged the nether Wastes biome that’s basically the old nether biome as of the first snapshot there are three different well I guess four we have the nether wastes we have the soul sand valley we have the Warped force and the crimson forest hopefully we’ll get a taste of all of those biomes In today’s video but it just sort of depends on what another generation looks like so is this new yet or is this old hmm this still looks like the old nether but I think we’re heading in the right direction because I’ve definitely never seen this I would have grabbed the Courts if I did so we’re good if we get really lucky today we’ll get to see some hog ones as well which would be really really cool as of the verse snapshot the hog ones don’t have any implementation they don’t really do anything other than flap around weirdly when you hit them But they are in the game which is pretty cool now that area over there that looks kind of different kind of odd but I don’t really want to go back because we’ve you know been over there and if I take the time to go all the way over there and it’s Nothing well that was a waste of time alright so this is a little nerve-wracking but we’re gonna go ahead and jump down here and travel right along the lava just bounce on that stood up really quick thankfully zero gas so far which is kind of cool but we seem to Be reaching a bit of a dead end now which kind of complicates things so we could spend our time and dig through here but that might not be worth it that this could go really nowhere so I think what we’re gonna do is actually inch around the edge of this landmass instead And hopefully is see something new I’m very curious to see how minecraft 1.16 deals with the old nether generation well there just be a sudden border or will it kind of naturally blend in the past when biomes have been added and there’s sometimes a really really obvious border in the different biomes In the different generation but the past two updates 1.15 at one point 14 java edition haven’t really changed generation all that much I mean we have the new villages in 1.14 but aside from those generation has pretty much remained the same for a while now oh wow Oh boy would you take a look at that that is the Warped forest biome that place is beautiful looking this is amazing and it actually looks like the chunks is this yeah this is our the border right here interesting now this stuff would have never been loaded in Before so I’m not too sure that looks like it might just be some sort of lighting glitch realized I forgot a flint and steel that’s kind of a bummer oh wait I could find gravel and get some I guess it’s not that important let’s check out the warp forest alright so Here is the warp forest and now right off the bat I have to say that the warp forest is much better than the crimson forest I am definitely tiem warped forest now instantly when we enter this biome the haze the fog changes that is really really cool I love that the blue Is so cool now I think I like the warp forest biome the most because I I mean it’s different right then that has always been read and this biome is not red it’s blue which is really different to see in the nether and something that is really really cool in the nether So these logs these logs are really really nice looking I can’t wait to actually get to build with these things in survival because the texture is beautiful now we can actually go ahead and take these logs or these stems which we can strip by the way and craft them Into planks then we can take these planks and craft normal things like crafting tables and even doors staircase the slabs buttons signs pressure plates everything cool like that now the doors are really really cool in my opinion this is one of the most beautiful doors of Minecraft and interestingly they they Take a while to break which is kind of different this axe does have efficiency on it too so yeah that kind of took a while and it looks like we just found a duplication glitch all right can we do it again because are we gonna get uh-huh Uh yep you could duplicate the doors on the snapshot and that is exactly why I don’t usually play in snapshots so Enderman everywhere in this biome I wonder if they spawn more frequently here it seems that they do but I can’t be 100% sure now this stuff this missed The jump totally but this stuff is pretty much a blue version of the nether warp block which is really really nice-looking as well I think the texture is super soft looking now I think we can break this with our hand yet we can break that with their hand we can Actually break all of these plants with our hand in this snapshot as well that is definitely going to be changed later on I’m sure and that’s kind of another reason why I don’t usually like to play in snapshots so so far so good this biome looks really really good now this Stuff is known as warped nigh Liam Niall it was actually a Latin word I learned that from Google I I didn’t know that but uh yeah this is nily up now to spread my limb you’ll need bone meal I don’t have any bone meal on me but if we Wanted to spread this stuff onto this netherrack we would bone meal this netherrack and the nie Liam would actually grow over here which is really really cool now I think that the nigh Liam is going to make our really really nice vegetation and terraforming block because it’s like blue grass which is Really really cool in the overworld built with like dark oak and maybe courts and stuff this be really really cool this is the mushroom if we had bone meal we would grow this mushroom into this gigantic tree these trees grow from these mushrooms you can plant these on grass Right now but I think that’ll probably change as well the trees though will only grow if these are planted on my Liam this is red grass we can break that with our hand too I don’t think it really does anything quite yet Enderman is getting hurt Uh-huh we’re just gonna get out of here um yeah we’re just gonna go this way and I am going to tribute all of that nether act to the void I don’t need that stuff so next up shroom light shroom light is the stuff growing in the trees this is a Favorable light source because I mean it grows when you grow the trees which is really really cool I think the block looks actually a lot smoother and a lot cleaner than glowstone which means it’ll be a lot better for building then glowstone I mean no hate to glow so glowstone does Look nice if done correctly like put behind trapdoors but on its own glowstone is kind of its kind of intense looking it’s kind of weird-looking so it’s hard to work with red mushrooms but we’ll find the crimson forest the red mushrooms grow into the giant red trees But the red trees aren’t really found in this biome so that’s normal that’s definitely normal looking all of these trees mmm the generation is definitely still being worked on I can see but it looks like the biome sort of ends over here no does this go anywhere or no this Is just okay we need we might need to bridge this gap though but it doesn’t seem like this way really goes anywhere one more thing that I’d like to point out before we leave this area is these things on the ground right here now I know it’s kind of dark so erm light There we go but the leaf locks are built into the ground that’s kind of different but I really like it actually it that’s a little bit more detail and breaks up this repetitive texture on the ground so good job devs I like it stepping out of the comfort zone which is always amazing Now we need to go that way I think that’s the way that I want to go so we’re gonna go ahead and use some of this cobblestone and make definitely a safe bridge all the way over there nothing bad could ever happen of course not the whole time I’ve been in here I’ve Noticed one big thing pretty much everywhere and the thing is the lack of gas zones so this first snapshot actually changed how gas sounds are dealt with in the game previously gas sounds could be heard when a gas is like a million blocks away not literally but like the gas could be Really far from you that is not the case anymore the distance that you can hear gas from has been lowered in the snapshot which honestly makes things a little bit more eerie in another it’s now just quiet and I don’t know that’s that’s kind of creepy I actually also Haven’t seen like any zombie pigman I mean I see one over there now that I say it but like the zombie pigmen amounts have been pretty low in this file kind of interesting so this way where does this go does this go to anything it definitely continues you can see the Warped forest wrapping around that might have been the way to go now that I think about it but where does this go anywhere not really that’s an island oh this is interesting ah the break noise that’s it’s a little different but really interesting I like the small details the Mojang does now Over here I figured we would go this way instead we’ve already seen that warp forest I really it would be really bad if we went there and it just wrapped around and went to a dead end so this way it might be a little more promising this is definitely still new terrain we Are there oh my bad Enderman my no you stay away from me Enderman no no no dude yeah we’re not gonna do that that is not the plan today you can go away sir that’s I didn’t even mean to oh right carrying on on her journey that was kind Of scary I know it’s a backup but I do really didn’t I couldn’t have that happen No so another dead end this time I think this is the way that we’re gonna go and I hear gas now so that’s great too very very very great so far the big Thing that I’m learning from exploring this another is the fact that there definitely needs to be more it’s still pretty boring and after fighting those by almost the first few times you probably wouldn’t really come back to explore more but it looks like there’s another warped forest over here Which is kind of cool that’s something new so let’s go ahead and go yeah let’s go this way aha just what I was looking for gravels huh hello we need one of you to drop as a plinth please I have the iron I really just needed one single piece of one Single face piece of Flint perfect well well well would you take a look at this finally I’ve found something new it’s been a while I am currently at about at negative 800 negative 1300 in the nether and the crimson forest biome so there’s lots new here as well now inside of this Biome as soon as we enter everything should get a lot more red am I already in it uh-huh I was I guess it’s not as noticeable as I thought but like you can see in the in the distance the red changes a little bit hmmm gets a little bit more red now Right off the bat we have another brand new wood type which is definitely purple I will stand my ground on this one this wood type is purple its definitely purple and not anything else take a look at the door the door is amazing can we duplicate this one too the door takes a Long time to mine just like the other one but duplication aha we can’t duplicate this one so infinite doors for me this sounds like a really good day now in seriousness these logs are really really cool as well I love how these ones look like to have like lava inside Of them that’s really awesome now in this biome the the fiery particle effects are really really cool I mean there’s these particle effects in the other biomes but in this one and I don’t know it just hits different it looks really really good now I is you could Probably notice there are vines growing everywhere these are weeping vines they grow from the bottom of blocks which is really really different now again right now you can harvest these things with your hand but I’m sure that that won’t be the case forever right now we can’t Climb these things but hopefully we can in the future because that would be a really cool way to scale things and this would make a really interesting looking like rope ladder and build stew which could be really cool now I believe there are currently 25 or so different growth levels of this thing So that means it can be 25 blocks long at the maximum or so I think now this this is the nether warp block we’ve already seen this we know this is this is the exact same block that we’ve always had in the game but now it’s been A repurposed as mushroom leaves if you want to call those leaves I really not too sure now can we take a moment here to pause and pay our respects to these brand-new wood types because these things are both beautiful I mean I think I like the blue One a little bit more but even this purple one is really nice as well I mean right off the bat I think of like a library floor when I see this and then this is like maybe some sort of prison build with this is the floor I don’t Know both of these wood types are really really cool and it doesn’t seem like they burn which definitely makes sense I am the lighting fires around here for a while and the fires just keep going out and this stuff isn’t actually burning which is good I mean this stuff is found In the nether it probably shouldn’t burn down now over here we can see our friend that unfortunate we’re gonna have to get rid of this is a Hoglund right here hoglets have 40 health and they flap around really weirdly when you hit them right now umm Hoglund there we go and They drop rotten flesh now the rotten flesh is definitely probably maybe going to change if the devs haven’t changed their plans eventually the hog ones will be a food source the crimson forest biome is really really cool-looking but if I’m being honest it’s just not as cool as The warp forest the work force stands out a whole lot more and look at that we have another fortress in this biome as well but soul Sanjay that’s the last job that’s last thing that we need to find now so far while I’ve been exploring I’ve been looking around at the walls For ancient debris hold up record scratch freeze frame yep that’s me right there ancient de breeze so I kind of got toasted on Fridays video for saying that rightfully so it’s ancient debris but like like no ass but I don’t know I I really don’t know so I’m about to Mispronounce it and in the rest of the video if you just count how many times I mispronounce the thing and drop that in the comments that would be sweet so yes I’m aware that I pronounced it wrong and I’ll fix it in the future yeah thank you ancient de breeze is what You need to find to get the brand new armor type in this update now ancient de breeze is really really rare it’s very very hard to find and honestly I like that now that’s how I sort of think it should be know one thing that I didn’t Mention that I’m very excited about when it comes to the woodies all of the variants to come alongside their editions so of course we have the log blocks with the plank blocks we have the stripped log blocks but we also have fences of fence gates trap doors pressure plates buttons everything that You can think of when it comes to new wood we have that as well which is really really nice I mean I kind of mentioned it but I’m seriously super excited about that when Mojang does the biome boats at Minecon that I don’t have a good history of actually winning I always pretty much always pick one of the biomes with a new tree Varian more wood and minecraft is a good thing what is pretty much the most useful thing in the game so if we have more colors and more variants well then I see that as an Absolute win that means we have new blocks more build pallets more color combinations just everything good this area over here has a lot of lava craters that it’s very very dangerous and look at that another warped forest let’s go ahead and actually cut through that warped forest where is the closest point Definitely not gonna look at that Enderman this might be the best spot though let’s go ahead and bridge from here diagonally over there now so far from what I’ve seen in both this world and in creative worlds the work force is definitely my favorite biome before the First nap Shack came out I was most excited for the sole send a Lee I think souls and valleys looked really cool and they definitely still do look cool but for what I’ve seen they just sort of don’t stack up to the blue warped forest I mean blue in the nether I don’t know that’s that’s kind of crazy I feel like these trees would make a really cool survival base mmm maybe I’ll have to mess with that concept that could be really really cool like turning up one giant tree into a base like adding floors and everything like that hmm That sounds really interesting but this way is the way that I need to go that’s a weird pillar that is very very weird looking and the Enderman in this biome are crazy they definitely they have to be spawning more in this biome which is really cool but I Got very dangerous it scares me a lot l end oh wow finally look at that that right there is the soul sand Valley and a crimson boars here Wow imagine if we found this right off the bat we wouldn’t have had to do any of that exploration now we are Really far at this point and they get it 1,300 negative 1,300 kind of interesting now the siege of this world isn’t an episode tens description but gasps you have to go away now I think gasps spawn more frequently in in the soul sand Valley I think from what I’ve seen not 100% sure but I guess we’ll kind of find out for herself but right away boom light blue fog which is beautiful this stuff looks really really good look at that gigantic fossil – and the wavy soul soil this stuff looks so so cool it takes a while to Mine though that’s interesting mm that’s kind of different now you don’t move any more slowly on this stuff like you do on Souls in Soul san you actually sink into and then on this stuff you can see I kind of move up a little bit Oh huh kind of kind of cool now the different property about this stuff is the blue fire if you light a fire out of this stuff blue fire happens who’s shooting me Oh skeletons oh yeah that’s the thing in this biome two skeletons no you guys need to go away we’re not going To have any of these skeletons near us at all but the blue fire the blue fire looks so so cool and we actually unlocked a recipe as soon as we moved on to this stuff if we grabbed a crafting table and grab more of this stuff we can Actually combine soul soil with sticks and coal to create Sol torches which our blue torches that look really really cool so here’s a soul torch right there and boom another new receipe as well of course we can upgrade the torch to the soul lantern which is even more amazing And definitely still blue look at that stuff that looks really really good now these things are a little bit more dim than the normal lanterns and torches light level of 10 from this guy right there light level of 10 from this guy as well right here hopefully Mojang changes that A normal lantern has a light level of 15 so I’d love to see this one have like a light level of 11 and this ten I don’t know just kind of keeping things consistent but in general the blue that’s really cool this is going to work amazingly in some sort of mystical Magical build or like a haunted build the stuff looks so so cool I’m very excited for like everything in this update I really really can’t wait for it it’s so far from what we’re seeing this is amazing now the bone blocks in this biome are really cool too this biome is Going to be very good for harvesting lots of bone meal quickly because we can turn one bone block into nine bone meal which is really really nice especially if you don’t have a skeleton farm now that breaking noise that’s different that’s that’s really cool I love that Sound that actually sounds like bones oh that’s awesome oh wow the sounds are amazing in this update Wow and this biome is really really cool looking too now I sort of imagined that this biome would have smaller caves okay okay where is it coming from where oh Okay hmm where are you you’re not even a real you’re sucking the ground we’ll get rid of you this is a warning don’t do it again anyways I sort of thought this vial would be smaller and more cave like now that’s obviously not the case here but It still is really cool now this block over there that is the basalt block oh wow you move really slow on the sole set I mean I always knew that but that’s gonna make traveling this biome kind of dangerous but the basalt live this stuff right here basalt generates in soul sand valleys Connecting the floor to the ceiling you can play some stuff like luck so like that or like this this is really really worn out looking it looks like maybe some sort of deteriorating metal so maybe you’re building some sort of old abandoned Factory this is definitely Going to be the block to use I think the stuff will also make a really good looking floor in something like okay hold on hold on you you’re over there this time no this stuff will look great as a floor in an industrial or a really strong looking build like some sort of Smeltery or something like that super excited to get to build with really all of these blocks but this one is actually one of my favorite looking ones I mean look it for just digging some of the stuff out it looks like we have some rusted and corroded pillar Going into the ceiling that’s really cool and one more thing this looks like it’ll be an amazing custom Korea block as well I mean the the gray bark that’s sort of like acacia and then we do some kind of cool tree leaves on top oh boy oh boy can’t wait For this update so I think we’ve actually seen about everything in this update so far so I’d like to go ahead and try an enderpearl up there onto that ledge and see what the view looks like yes I made it okay awesome the view from up here is really Really cool and the the haze the vibe changes completely when the haze color changes like we have this whole blue mystical creepy vibe and then we have the warm nether feel that’s really cool the one thing that I hope the doves do or figure out its some way to blend this That’s kind of shocking and I don’t know I don’t know if I like that but Wow the sole seven belly looks sweet over there all the fossils oh wow and so I think that’s actually just about everything in the nether update up until this point the only thing that we didn’t Really get a chance to find is the nether right but the nether right is super rare the stuff is really really cool and I think it’s going to become definitely my new main toolset once I actually get my hands on it as it stands right now that’s going to take a long Time to get a full set of nether right armor and honestly I’m 100% okay with that I think that’s really really cool and I actually just did a video on nether right as well which is though oh wow that that must have been a bad dream Or a good dream depending on how you look at it the dream I think was meant to end with saying that there’s a whole video on the new nether right stuff which is really really cool but I think that’s gonna actually just about do it for today’s episode of Leitz I hope you
