Minecraft 1.19 will add the mysterious skulk blocks into the game and with them already being accessible through experimental snapshots here’s everything we know so far about the skulk blocks of the deep dark biome and the ancient cities let’s check it out also only a very small percentage of my audience is Subscribed so if you enjoy this content feel free to subscribe turn on notifications and you’ll never miss an upload in the future also minecraft 1.19 is very much still in development so the information of here is only from the experimental snapshots and is subject to change so skulk blocks the new type of Block introduced in minecraft 1.19 where do you find it well there’s actually two places you can find it there are the ancient cities and there is the deep dark biome now these two things are not completely separate the deep dark biome is an actual thing if we go to our f3 Menu you can see the biome is minecraft cool and deep dark and also when using the slash locate command this is known as the ancient city that won’t go too much into the ancient city or the warden today as this video is specifically to focus on these new skulk items now they Generate in the ancient cities somewhat commonly in sort of these patches like this and also around treasure chests in these protecting areas there are five different types of sculpt blocks each with unique uses and properties in the ancient cities and also when taken outside of the ancient cities you can See them generating around here especially as defense for treasure chests but you can use them for a lot of things as well also the ancient cities and deep dirk biome are both rather rare so it can be difficult to find these in the experimental snapshots so far and i Would recommend using the slash locate command as trying to find these in survival could be quite difficult but if you do find an ancient city in survival the one item you’re going to want to get is this item right here which is the skulk catalyst you can break this with a Silk tacho or any item with silk touch just hoe being the fastest and the reason why you’ll want to grab this one is because the skulk catalyst can generate any other item of the skulk type very very easily also interestingly enough other than reinforced deep slate which only generates in this sort of Portal in the deep dark biome skulk blocks are the only new item in minecraft 1.19’s current snapshot so let’s start with the skulk vein the skulk vein doesn’t actually do much on its own you can break it and replace it with a silk tacho but upon breaking it Without silk touch you don’t actually get anything from it we can try that out right here in survival and you can see when breaking this we don’t get anything we don’t get xp it just is an interesting texture you can actually see here on the texture it sort of moves a Bit it is animated and we have that kind of wobbling in and out but skulk veins do mean something they mean that the skulk is growing and any block that has the school clean on top of it that is from the scope replaceable group can eventually turn into skulk during the Right conditions so let’s say this block your whisk replaceable you can tell that in your f3 menu and the school plane being on top of a block means that a skull grows again that block can turn into the full on skulk block which leads us into the next item which is the full On skulk block now these blocks are somewhat decorative but they’re also very useful because when you break a skulk block without silk touch with a hoe or any other item it will drop xp which is kind of an interesting new mechanic in the game that a certain Block would drop xp and because a very large amount of blocks in the game are actually skulk replaceable these blocks are really invasive if you do have the right conditions for skull growth so having a lot of these is very cool though because let’s say you have a Mob farm and you can get yourself a large amount of these then it’s a great way of storing experience and before i confuse you anymore i’m going to introduce you to the skulk catalyst now the skull catalyst is a very interesting item this is how you actually grow more Skulk and it’ll make more sense in a second if any mob dies next to a skull catalyst like let’s say let’s get the zombie over here and let’s kill it with maybe an axe basically if any mob dies near there the experience from it does not just go like into your inventory it Actually goes to the skulk catalyst right here which grows more skulk around it so in a sense the block is almost like a block that means that a mob has died it’s sort of like the block of death or something it’s very interesting mechanic i think it’s a really cool Addition to the game you can see it there as well now basically the skulk grows around the zombie or would really whatever mob it is in fact it could even be like a tropical fish it could be a cow a pig an axolotl you know wither anything Basically other than i think a ender dragon and as long as it’s about nine blocks from the skulk catalyst it will still function correctly having the skulk beneath it where it died so maybe that was a bit far away there it does have to be within a bit of a range there But when killing it here you can see it will spread over here because it’s within the right range and of course this isn’t spreading very much but let’s say we’re gonna have a constant stream of dying mobs next to it which we can do very simply by having a Command block on the ceiling that summons ourselves some tropical fishes again something very easy to get you could even just bring fishes in a bucket with you to kill and get more skulk and we just have those generate multiple times up here just like that we’ll have That on repeat with needs redstone just so we can have a redstone block there to control it and basically what happens is because all these different moms are dying we’re gonna have a massive amount of the skulk grow you can see that right here all right now turning command block Output to full so you can actually see what’s going on you can see what’s basically happening the skulk is slowly growing from these bubbling charges as they’re called around here you can see some really cool particles on top of the generator here or the skull catalyst That is so the sculpt catalyst sort of has these interesting waves going on it and we have these almost soul sand like in fact almost exactly soul sand like particles on top of it just like this with them being kind of darker and lighter so kind of a darker sole being Opened up into a brighter kind of sole particle like that very similar to the soul sand and these bubbling churches go around here and spread the skulk and they spread very very rapidly and they can spread very very far as you can see it’s spread all the way over here As well as generating the skulk it can also generate the skulk sensor as well as the skulk screamer which i’ll get a little bit more into later now we can tell these blocks here are obviously not skulk replaceable so though they’re getting these skulk veins on top of them They are not turning into skulk blocks also the way this is growing is kind of the correct way you can really never have a stream of mobs this fast unless you had maybe a guardian farm so you’d never see it work like this but it’s interesting so if we break some blocks Around here you can see they almost instantly turn to skulk if these bubbling charges go over them the block you can see generating around here on top of the skulk is the skulk sensors and also you can occasionally have a skulk shrieker appear here now how do The skulk sensors work this is certainly the most useful item of this entire update so far and certainly of the skulk blocks why because a skulk sensor is basically wireless redstone or at least it can act that way so basically if we walk around here you can see it senses It but it senses basically anything that you would assume would make sound in real life or really just in the game so you can see here that we’re within radius of this like walking here it doesn’t notice us but if we go near it we walk around here it’ll kind of sense Us there if we get ourselves some redstone and put the redstone on the side of it we can see an interesting thing here to get a redstone signal out of it we don’t even need a comparator we can just straight up have it be right There let’s say we make a bit of noise here maybe jump around here you can see there’s a very little bit of a redstone power there it doesn’t certainly get powered all the way but let’s say we get very close and we do that it will power More so so basically the closer we are to this with the sound again that doesn’t have to just be walking that could be anything like placing down a block that could be let’s say a mob walking that could be really anything generated by a player or a mob that will Activate the skulk sensor right here and it makes it very useful because every single item actually has a different amount of redstone output it does there’s a big list on the minecraft wiki if you want to read that and i would go over that but it’s incredibly long but Basically any single sound in the game will do that also generally these will detect signals within about nine blocks of them although depending on the signal it can be more or less of a distance overall but they’re a really cool block and i’ll show you why let’s say you Wanted to make yourself a tnt trap well usually in normal minecraft or at least before 1.19 minecraft to make a tnt trap it would be a bit annoying because there has to be a pressure plate a lever or just kind of something that’s really awkward to place where people really Obviously know it’s a trap however with this it’s quite easy let’s place down a bit of tnt let’s place down the sensor and run just like this okay we didn’t run fast enough here but ideally what you can do with this is you can set up a Little system just like let’s say this let’s get away here where again just like that so basically if you’re within nine blocks of that block or even any mob of it basically if any mob any item anything would make a sound is within about nine blocks of That sensor there it’ll light off the tnt and that includes going through blocks except for one block which i’ll explain in a second here so if we get anywhere near here even through a wall just walk around here well the tnt trap is lit off and there’s basically no way Of stopping it then of course so that’s a really cool mechanic you can use with those of course there’s so much you can do with these and they’ll completely revolutionize redstone but as an example they can also kind of carry on signals so if we kind of made a sound here just Like that it would go here and sometimes it would pass it along to that one as well so you can use that for some interesting properties which is quite cool now if you want your walking to not be sensed by that in fact not just your walking if you want walking shooting a Projectile or almost anything like that from the player to not be detected simply sneak or that is shifting so basically let’s say we were going to even get a bow and arrow something you would certainly think would make sound and it does if we let’s say shoot it Like this you can see it even notices where the arrow is the problem is it notices where the arrow is and where we are so if we shoot it here there’s actually a signal that comes from us so if we shift and then do this it will not Know where it came from us it’ll simply get the signal from the arrow which means let’s say you’re trying to distract the warden or something like this because they do work with these and we shoot this you can shift to not be detected by it and one other thing you Can do with these skulk sensors to have them not detect a event or a sound is to use wool blocks so what’s really cool about wool in fact i think is the reason why there’s so much wool in the deep dark cities is you can use these to stop These from sensing things so let’s say we put one between us and the skulk sensor and we walk around something would make noise maybe even shoot a bow it cannot pick up the senses you can see there that it’s not activating at all whereas if we’re going to go over here Where it is kind of in the line of sound site as it were and it can sense it but let’s say we’re going to completely surround this in wool just like this and of course since uh this one will just break there so it doesn’t mess up The test we’re going to make as much sound as we can around here it just will not activate which is kind of a cool thing you’re doing a redstone thing and you only want this to pick up sounds from a certain area you could block off Where it picks up sounds from it’s also cool too to get more functional uses for wool because then on one side something can be picked up and on the other side it count so wool blocks of any color are certainly something that are useful to use if you’re trying to block signals From reaching the skulk sensor but overall the skulk sensor is an incredibly useful block now on to the last and certainly the most dangerous block of the skulk varieties and that is the one you’ll see generating most commonly in these deep dark cities or they will be ancient cities that is and That is the skulk shrieker the skull shriekers can also generate from just growing but again to do something like this it’s very efficient you’d at very least need to have a mob firm connected to that although again any xp dropped by anything dying really anything dying at All even if it wouldn’t drop xp like let’s say killing a bat or something would still make their best grow around there i actually really love the texture of skull but enough about that we’re going to go on to the shrieker so the shriekers do generate around here you Can see one right here and how do these work well they can basically be set off two different ways so the first way they can be set off is just by themselves and that’s basically just by jumping on them kind of bugging them like this just like That they let off kind of a yell there and then we get a bit of a walking sound so it’s really cool the sound mechanics in this update very very cool now that’s the one way of triggering it and there’s actually now a 10 second cooldown before it can be triggered Again the second way to trigger it is with a sensor and this can often be a lot more difficult to avoid so there’s a sensor here we walk a little bit will trigger and it can actually send the signal there sometimes so we can maybe get a little bit closer yeah just like That i sent the signal it screams out we get a very interesting noise okay it seems like it’s approaching again and so that’s basically meaning that the warning level has increased there are three warning levels one two and three that are created by this very interesting shrieker the first level is Kind of the sound we were just hearing there we hear like the walking the second sound is like this very um i’m not even sure how to describe it but this interesting sound that really sounds like the world’s being shaken apart a bit and the third sound means You’re at level three and you are having the warden being summoned which is almost impossible to defeat so the shriekers are the warden summoners basically now currently these can summon wardens anywhere although they don’t work maybe very precisely i found you can kind of have them trigger three Times and sometimes they will not have the word and come sometimes they will it really does depend you can see right here the word did come after three times and you can see there is the warden spawning in from the skulk shrieker and just the sounds in this Update i just love so much they’re incredibly freaky i would say and i love seeing that mechanic now of course with our commands here for it to always be light and of course being uncreatable this isn’t a scary mob at all but i was finding myself being a little bit Creeped out by the warden a lot especially in survival i would say it is quite a creepy mob but either way that is what the shrieker does what’s interesting about the shriek or those is texture looks somewhat like an ender pearl in my opinion i think Those are supposed to be kind of two of these soul particles spinning around in it but if you look at it closely and let’s get an ender pearl texture here just to look at there is some really big similarities between those two textures in my opinion of the ender pearl and of The skulk shrieker there now i have noticed that the skulk shrieker seems to only reliably spawn wardens if you are in the deep dark biome if you move these outside the deep dirk biome which you can do again you can break all these things with silk touch and move them Very easily then it seems to sometimes generate the warden and sometimes not but it does usually spawn the warden correctly when you’re in the deep dark biome but either way be very careful of the skulk shriekers and if you are farming these skulk sensors be sure to Break these with a hoe that does not have silk touch or even with one with silk touch as quickly as you can before they try and summon in the warden because of course the warden is a very dangerous mob let’s say we trigger the skulk shrieker once and it goes to Warning level one or even we trigger it twice and it gets to warning level two if we wait it goes down one warning level every single 10 minutes which means that let’s say we trigger it once and you know we just avoid it and we don’t get it triggered again we will not Have the warden spawn there unless we trigger it three times within that time period there because again let’s say it’s at warning level two it would take 20 minutes to get down to warning level zero again now as i said earlier this block is set off if you jump on it or at Least step on it or if you have a skulk sensor that makes it get set off too what’s interesting is that of all things redstone signals can actually make this set off too so if we power this right here it will make that call the warden Like that it’s kind of funny we can artificially make wardens spawn but actually that was a bit of an interesting animation of it going in what i’ve actually found is that once any skulk sensor is at warning level 3 especially if you’re around the deep dark biome that warden is very loud but Especially if you’re in the deep dark biome it seems like then these will automatically summon the warden if they’re warned at all so again i think just any powering of this like i’m not sure if a nearby redstone signal would do it too no so it has to actually power It but you really can just abuse it with redstone here to instantly power it yeah it seems it does not need three warning levels if it’s already been activated once and you get these wardens instantly spawning in with these cool animations anyway that’s everything we know so far About these five new skulk items in minecraft 1.19 if you enjoyed this
