Every Minecraft player needs a starter base although resources are limited early in the game so here’s how to build a cheap nice functional starter base in Survival Minecraft I’m going to show you how to build a specific starter base design that I came up with also I would Highly suggest this tutorial to not follow along exactly so that the base you make is entirely unique but either way if you do want to copy it exactly we’re going to need these stone-like materials 10 polished andesite three and a half stacks of smooth stone slabs 30 Cobblestone 13 cracked stone bricks Three polish diorite stairs 10 furnaces seven polished and a site a couple stone brick stairs ten chiseled stone bricks and an andesite wall and then for wood type items you’re going to want two stocks and 24 revoke planks 69 Spruce stairs 21 Mangrove logs seven composters A stack and 35 of birch slabs 13 Birch signs 10 Birch trap doors 2 Birch doors Two Birch stairs four jungle fence gates 25 jungle fence 24 campfire 28 Spruce slabs 11 Spruce trapdoor nine barrels a couple torches to make sure your world is spawn proofed a bed of any color You’d like of course four ladders 15 bookshelf one crafting table two lanterns seven Oak trapdoors and 30 chests and end off with a couple special items You’re Gonna Want a couple Brewing stands an anvil two paintings a grindstone for Red Carpet an enchanting table five Soul Sand five Nether wart You could use rooted dirt if you want or standard dirt then you want 16 white stained glass panes 10 obsidian two flower pots 15 peonies two armor stands six rose bushes a Cornflower a crimson fungus 22 jungle leaves and a full set of iron armor for decoration so let’s Take a look at this base build design we have on the outside here a porch with this really cool covered area with wood that is made with the campfires there and some seats out here but as you can see through the windows this space is much more than just decorational because Inside of here we actually have a fairly large smelting area as well as an area where the smoke from the smelting here can escape out a chimney there’s also some nice room for some storage and even a place to go to the nether a little bedroom and over through here we have a Passageway that leads to a big enchanting area with storage for lapis and enchanted books in Anvil a full enchanting setup to level 30 and a grindstone but just up these stairs right here next to this beautiful window overlooking the biome that we’re in you can see we go into a secondary storage Area that you could maybe store less useful items in or even just some junk and also a brewing area that even includes a netherwort farm and we even have easy access to pick up our armor as we go so if we need to grab that we can really easily speaking of going outside The outer part of the house is designed to look just as good as the inside with even boring windowless walls having extra decoration added to them I would say the space is definitely one that’s actually fairly easy to build and also looks good inside and out so I’m not Going to show you how to build this exact starter base but you can use the same info to build one that’s similar or even completely different the first step you you want to do is basically lay out how big you want the base to be so for Me I’m going to do 13 blocks by 14 blocks but all those squares are the most efficient they’re sort of a boring shape so I think we’re going to do is we’re going to cut off a small area here four blocks Less on this side and five Blocks Less on this side so that we have more of a house shape and something you’ll notice that there is this texturing on the side here we don’t just have cobblestone as Cobblestone by itself is a somewhat ugly block so what you want to do is you also want to throw In some cracked stone bricks as well as chiseled stone bricks the idea would be is that the corners of the House’s Foundation are strong and so they’re going to have these strong chiseled stone brick texture but then the further away we get from those sides it’s going To become less strong with the cracked stone bricks leading them into the Cobblestone which you could sort of view as Tiny fragments of brick after the foundation’s been worn down so we’re just going to replace a couple blocks throughout your randomly with those and You can see we already have a bit of a texture and of course this should be a house so we’re going to place in a floor I’m out of some Birch slabs a birch slabs are my favorite block to build floors out of but no matter what block You choose I would always suggest using slabs just because they’re the cheapest and they actually make more sense as a floor anyway because they’re thinner and also flat also just to give a bit more of an interesting look to the house and to fit in the Nether Portal later we’re Gonna place down a little shape like this and modify the wall like this pushing those planks out a little bit further because not only does this give the house an even more irregular shape but it’ll also give us a bit more room to work with on top of each one of these Foundational blocks I’m going to place four of these logs I’m using Mangrove logs because I like the outer texture but I wouldn’t necessarily suggest a red log if you’re stripping it for this kind of design however I think this outer texture is quite good and we’ll also Place some in the corner here too now of course every house needs walls so for now I’m just going to throw up some undetailed walls ideally the trick with building is to start with something that’s somewhat undetailed and to add more and more detail as you go so for Instance right here we’re just going to place down some giant plain walls so we can improve the these in just a minute like for instance on this wall here we’re going to place it back one block set the front of the house as a bit more texture with this stone foundation Sticking out a bit more so then also these logs look more 3D and because I want a deck on this build we’re actually going to break this a little bit and make it go a bit further backwards by making the wall start over here so there’s this empty area here outside of The base but it still has that flooring we’re also going to cut it off a little bit short over here as well and just build up the wall a bit recessed over here although this might seem a little bit wasteful it actually adds a lot of really good looks to the build or Actually get rid of these two pillars here and move them back right here now to make this deck look a bit better because we don’t have those support columns anymore I’m just going to throw up a fence out of some of these jungle fences and also place a second row of Them up here to be sort of like a frame we can use those just to add a little bit of structure and support and I think we’ll just throw two down over here also just so that again there’s a bit more continuity there but to make this really Look cool I’m going to grab some campfires and place them down all across here a little Lookout Furs might be a little bit expensive they can actually add a lot of really good looks to this and we can just right click on all of these with a shovel to make them all go Out that’s already making this for an area look really good now to make them look more stable and like pillars we’re going to take the chiseled stone bricks on the bottom and also place them on the top of each one of these logs and then from on top of that we’re actually going To use it to position our roof but we’re not going to place a chiseled stone brick right here because this wood is connecting with this wood but this stone is going to connect with the stone of the roof now this roof is actually fairly simple and fairly easy which is Quite good just starting at the second block from here we’re going to go all the way around with these smooth stone slabs until they touch the lattice here and we’ll start them on this end too again on the upper half of the slab there making them circle around the Entire area and we’ll make them finish over across here as we’re going to have a different sort of roof structure right here however something you may notice is we have this Gap here now so I’m just going to raise the height of this around here and we’ll play some smooth stone Slabs across here now go next to this dough own slabs or they’re near the campfires and place it down like this and make it go all the way around the entire thing this will just go one block further in from that outer area this is going to make the roof look like it’s Tapering off as most roofs on Suburban hoses do in real life of course and we’ll repeat that one more time again going one block higher up and making it circle around the entire roof now it should look something like this and we’re just going to go out one block and Basically finish up the top of the roof like this looking fully flat I think I’ll place a block here in the corner like this but you can do it however you want basically just making it look like the angle of the roof sort of ends as if We put blocks on top of here as well I think it’ll look too big in comparison to the rest of the build also be sure just to throw down a couple torches inside of the build at this stage so you don’t accidentally have any creepers spawn inside of there you can also see We have a chimney so we’re gonna grab some polished and decide and polish stand to site stairs and throw that on and what element of building in Minecraft really is taking parts of your build that you do not necessarily need like let’s say a chimney but still Adding them on because it makes it more realistic that can definitely add a lot of quality to a build and now we have a chimney on top of the base here biggest thing we’re missing now from the outside of the base is of course windows at the Front of the base I’ve sort of added in two long and thin Windows which give a good view into what will be the enchanting area and generally the idea with the window inside of Minecraft is you want some sort of glass pane build combined with a couple blocks around it To give it the window sills or window covers or all the other things that of course Windows usually have inside of real life this will make it look a lot more realistic than just breaking a hole in the wall and throwing in a window so we’re gonna have two large windows at The front of the house and also one other window at the side because there’s room for it right here I like using the sprue stairs with the white stained glass panes for the windows on this build but of course you can make all these things however you want of course We now do need an entrance into the base so I’m just going to place down two stone brick stairs here break these two and replace them with jungle fence skates then break these two and we’re gonna replace them with Birch doors facing this way that we have a bit more Of that 3D look but although the front of the house is starting to come together the back part of it here is still incredibly boring so we’re going to do is we’re going to break starting right here a line of blocks just like this then inside of that we’re going to Have some of these Spruce stairs that are going upwards and some Spruce stirs that are going downwards and then also heading inside the build for just a second here we’re going to place down some of the oak planks and hide our nether portal and we’ll of course do That by placing down some of Planks on either side and also on the top here then we can fill this out with the obsidian for the nether portal and light that and now on the other side we can basically block it effectively by only placing the blocks down that are Absolutely necessary to cover up that obsidian and the same way we’re going to break these blocks here and replace it with our spruester decoration also replace the blocks over here with that as well just to make this look a bit more 3D and maybe like some sort of a Utility box or something else random at the back of the base and we can continue these sprue stirrers over here along this entire section of the wall so we try and make the base look as realistic and interesting as possible and we’ll just cover up those two pieces of Obsidian with some Spruce trap doors and for the exterior decorations of the build there is only really two main things which is the jungle leaves inside of composters as well as the random tall flowers we have there is one thing though too you can see with the Trapdoors the rooted dirt and the rose bushes here we’ve sort of changed the front section of the house here to be like a flower bed I like this quite a bit as the front section of the house looks a little bit weird and so if we replace this with something more Interesting like this using of course the rooted dirt to make it look like soil that plants would be put in and by just switching it out like that we can see it’s much improved and of course also what’s the point of a porch if you Cannot be out on it so we’re going to place down a Polish diorite stairs right here as well as two over here and place down some of these composter and leaf combos new Mays will take that same design with the composter and the jungle leaves and extend it onto this side of The house just so there’s some more interesting things to look at and over here as well and I definitely think this starts to break up the wall and makes it look a lot more natural and we’ll finish off by grabbing some of the peonies here and placing them in random locations Wherever you think they would look good just to make it look like there’s some more things going on around the outside of the base I definitely think that’s starting to look good already and finish off the outside of the base just place down a couple torches on the outside Here or you could do lanterns if you want and throw maybe three or four of them onto the roof as well just to stop any mobs from spawning up here and we can sort of transition from the outside to the inside by placing down some carpets as like a welcome mat that may Not look like we have very much room inside of this space but I’m going to show you how we’re going to turn it into a really complicated and useful area this is where the base build goes from just ways to make it look nice to actually adding functionality of course We already have the nether portal here but we’re also going to throw in some furnaces so we have a good capacity for smelting and to make them look more realistic on top of the furnaces we’re going to put some alternating endocyte stairs here to sort of make it look like A smoke event and then we can put a campfire there that’ll stay lit and we’ll put around it some Spruce trap doors flipping those upwards and that’s the entire little smelter finished I’ll place down four rows of chests like this that are going higher and higher up you Can even place them all the way up here if you want to and of course when you actually put items inside of here that’s probably the best idea to place down some Birch signs or maybe even some item frames that show what’s inside of these chests and we can actually get ourselves A bit more room by breaking these three blocks here as they’re not really covering anything and in this sort of little area we’ve made we can place down a crafting table as well as a little bit of additional storage you could also place down maybe a grindstone or some Other crafting table type blocks here so that we sort of have a storage and crafting area in the center of our base I’m also going to place down the two armor stands here with some of our armor across both of them because not only is it more convenient if you let’s say want To switch out to a different type of armor but it also makes the smelting area seem more realistic inside of here we have to have a place to put our enchanting area so I’m going to Dig Down by two blocks a four by five area going Just four blocks from the edge here and we’re going to dig this two blocks down although we’re probably not going to use that entire space for all of it it’s going to give us more room to work with we’ll start by placing some stairs of the lead down into this lower area and We can sort of recover this whole area with Birch slabs that are lower down and we can have our enchanting area be centered around this we’re going to place down the enchanting table right here and get all the bookshelves placed in where they need to go as you can see Of course we don’t have a whole lot of room if you’re ever trying to place an enchanting table in a very tight area if I were you I would keep checking to see what level the enchanting table is at to make sure that you’re getting as many Levels out of it as you possibly can and I think I’ll Place some bookshelves over here this will get us exactly up to level 30 and now this area is also sort of sectioned off we’ll level up the enchanting area a bit more by placing an Anvil over here as well as three barrels right there we’re going to sort of encourage this area already looking a bit more divided by placing down some Birch trapdoors like this and also some of them over here this will actually give us a separated area to have a micro Bedroom and one of the reasons why I think this little enchanting area looks good is because we’re going down into it adding that variation in the floor height really makes the build be mixed up a bit really mixes up the build a bit and we can finish this off with the Purple bed a barrel and a flower pot with a Cornflower in it so now we should take the slurage area up here and convert it into our second floor so now we’re going to take the very large area that’s up here and convert it into a second floor place down six Spruce slabs Up here like this then with these sprue stairs we’re going to start placing them upside down around here this actually makes a really good border between the second floor and the first floor and it connects really nicely into these trap doors we’re going to continue that along Here just like this then going one block higher up to over here we’re going to take these blocks and make them go around here to sort of form some of what’s going to be the second floor we can then head up here break this block and fill this entire area in being one Block higher up again and we’re going to extend and that second floor this Direction with what will sort of look like a railing we’re gonna have a couple Oak trap doors go across here and just flip them all down like this of course getting rid of any supporting ones as in We can be up here and we’re not just going to fall right off and we also have this nice little balcony to overlook the rest of the and we also have this nice little balcony to overlook the rest of the build we’re just going to finish the enchanting area by throwing down a Grindstone up here on the roof as of course we now have a roof to put that on but that is little enchanting area done of course to get into the second floor we’ll place down some ladders break this block and place them up here as well so We can access all the way here you want this to look a little bit less severe you can also throw in some smooth stone slabs back here though it does make there also be slightly less room make the little enchanting area up here we’re going to start by placing down five Soul Sand in a row with Netherwood on top to make a micro netherwort Farm two barrels over here and we’ll put Brewing stands on top of them in any extra Brewing ingredients in there to sort of add to the nether focused theme up here we’ll place down a flower pot and a crimson Fungus and also raise this block here by one layer and place down chest just to make sure that we’re fully utilizing this space kind of finish up the inside of the build I’m just going to throw down a couple leaves like this to sort Of make it look like we have a Vine like plant that’s growing on the roof there and we’re going to kind of get to see that from here we’ll also place down two lanterns two blocks apart on the roof right here sort of be like a small chandelier now to complete the nether Portal area simply light your portal and place down two fence gates this will not only stop you from by accidentally going into The Nether but it’s also going to have zombified piglets not be able to reach you and that is the end of the inside of the base here then we’re gonna Go outside of the base and now that your brand new house is finished you’re just going to want to place down an endocyte wall and a barrel here and a sign that says mailbox on it so that no one will miss deliveries to your brand new starter base inside of survival Minecraft I hope you enjoyed this starter base tutorial inside of survival Minecraft if you did make sure to press
