Hey everyone it’s cnn finn and today i’m going to show you how to create a custom dimensions data pack in minecraft this is episode one and i’ll be showing you the folder structure for the data pack in episode two i’ll show you how to create your own custom dimensions So to start with i would recommend you download visual studio code this is a coding tool and is very helpful for creating files in minecraft data packs there’ll be a link to download it in the description so the first thing you’re going to want to do is create a new folder for storing All of your data packs files i’m just going to put mine on the desktop you can call it wherever you want i’m going to call mine dimensions pack you’re going to want to open that folder and then create another new folder inside it and call it data Once you’ve done that you’re going to want to go ahead and open visual studio code and then create a new file in the list of options so in this file you’re just going to want to copy exactly what i’ve put start off by putting a curly bracket then press enter Then right pack in quotation marks put a colon and then another curly bracket and press enter again then write pack underscore format in quotation marks so another colon put six then put a comma press enter write description in quotation marks then put a colon and then put a description in quotation marks the Description could be anything you want if any of this confuses you you can download this file in the link in the description as well as the whole data pack that we create in this video so once you’ve written all that you’re going to want to go to file And save as and then choose a place to save it which will be in the data pack folder make sure it’s not in the data folder just in the root directory for the data pack then you’re going to want to call it pack.mcmeta exactly how i have Then you can click save and we are done with visual studio code so you can either just close it or minimize it and go back to the folder so now we have the data folder and pack.mcmeta so next we’re going to want to open the data folder In there you’re going to want to create another folder you can call this whatever you want but i’m going to call mine custom dimensions also make sure that this folder doesn’t have a space in the name so now you can open that folder in this folder this is where data packs store any Information on custom dimensions or anything else that you change for now though you’re going to want to create two folders one called dimension and one called dimension type so now the folder structure for a custom dimensions data pack is all set up and you have the pac.mcmata file so now you Can close out of this folder and open up the minecraft launcher so you’re going to need to select a version of minecraft that supports custom dimensions and in this pack format that is 1.16.2 and newer unless they get removed in the future so now you’re just going to wait for minecraft to load Once you’re on the title screen you’re just going to want select single player then create new world doesn’t matter what you call the world make sure cheats are on or you’re in creative mode then click on data packs and then open pack folder now you’re just going to want to Copy your data pack folder and paste it in the folder that was opened by minecraft okay then you can close out of the data pack folder and add the data pack to your world and then click done and then create new world once the world is loaded you’re going to Want to press slash and then type in data pack space list and then press enter and your custom dimension data pack should show up in the list of data packs in the text chat that is everything you need to do for now so you can quit Out of the world and then it quits out of minecraft so that is everything for episode one that is the folder structure completely set up for your very own custom dimensions data pack in the next episode i’ll show you how to add custom dimensions to this data pack If you enjoyed this video then you can subscribe to the channel and leave a like on the video and there will be more minecraft content coming very soon Video Information
