Ask Mojang: What happened to the fireflies in Minecraft 1.19?
Have you been wondering what the allay is based off, if goat horns and bundles are included in The Wild Update, or if we use Blockbench to build our models? You’re in luck, because we’ve got answers aplenty! We also have a special message regarding questions about fireflies and birch forests being added to Minecraft, so tune in and keep sending us your questions!
The Allay and The Wild Update
The allay, a mob that has gained popularity among Minecraft players, was originally prototyped for the Nether Update. However, it didn’t quite fit in with the theme of that update. Mojang still loved the idea and decided to introduce it to the community during the Minecraft Live mob vote. The response was overwhelmingly positive, so now the allay is being added to The Wild Update.
Mojang takes pride in their high-quality standards when developing new features. They want to ensure that each feature is well-tested, works on all platforms, and seamlessly integrates with existing and future features. This attention to detail requires time, which is why Mojang is taking their time to make sure the allay is released in the best possible state.
Fireflies and The Wild Update
Fireflies were initially planned to be part of The Wild Update, serving as a food source for the new frogs. However, the Minecraft community provided valuable feedback. It was brought to Mojang’s attention that many species of fireflies and firebugs are poisonous to toads and frogs. Mojang didn’t want to introduce this harmful element into the game, so they decided to provide the frogs with a safer food source – tiny slimes.
While fireflies are no longer part of The Wild Update, Mojang still finds them to be an interesting concept and they remain in their ideas library. However, there are currently no concrete plans to add fireflies in any upcoming updates.
Birch Forest Improvements
During Minecraft Live, Mojang showcased concept art featuring birch forest improvements. However, it’s important to note that concept art is not a commitment. Mojang has decided not to continue working on birch forest improvements for the time being.
Goat Horns and Bundles
Goat horns will indeed be added with the release of Minecraft 1.19. Mojang gathered feedback from the community after Minecraft Live and discovered that the community didn’t love the new mangrove colors. As a result, Mojang decided to change the mangrove wood to red, which is a real wood type.
On the other hand, bundles will not be added with the release of 1.19. There are still some issues that need to be resolved, such as the inability to hover over bundles on touch devices to see their contents without accidentally moving them.
Mud and Parity Break
Dirt will only turn into mud if the player intentionally wants to change it by using a water bottle on the dirt block. The purpose of mud is purely aesthetic, giving the game a more natural look. It does not affect the movement of players or mobs.
However, there will be a slight parity break at the release of 1.19. Mobs and players on the Bedrock side will not sink into the mud due to a pathfinding issue. Mojang is actively working on resolving this issue and aims to bring parity in a later release.
So there you have it! The latest information from Mojang regarding fireflies, birch forests, goat horns, bundles, mud, and more. Stay tuned for further updates and keep those questions coming!
