FTB Endeavour Ep 6 – Spellcrafting with Ars Nouveau

Hello everyone welcome back to savis games this is ftb endeavor episode six if you are watching this know that you are loved and you are welcome on my channel i have some bad news for you guys i don’t want to bore you too much with behind the scenes stuff but you

Might notice if you watched the last episode that there’s a lot of things done here in between it was not my intention to do that off camera in fact i recorded it all but i am a little new to this and i had some issues with obs

Which is uh free streaming software that i use it’s fantastic recording software but uh in this case i i didn’t notice that it was having an issue all i had to do was restart it but unfortunately i lost a whole episode’s worth of videos so

What we are going to do i don’t want to lose out on any tutorialization i want to catch you guys up so we’ll spend uh the first uh bit of this episode i don’t know how long it’ll take we’ll take as long as we need to kind of

Go through everything i did to catch you up on the let’s play the last episode and more importantly give you some tutorial on ars nouveau and some of this new stuff that you see that’s going on in our base so without further ado let’s talk about last episode

So the beginning of last episode i wanted to build this fence here and it took me sort of an absurd long time to get to building that fence i uh wanted to start getting a little more efficient in doing that and so we made ourselves a precision sawmill which is nice

That takes our uh wood i don’t think i have any to demonstrate with it with right now but it takes uh wood and turns it into planks for us without wasting as much so instead of four points uh per wood we’re getting six planks per wood so it’s not quite doubling like

With the oars uh that we’re getting but it’s uh it’s pretty good it’s pretty good it’s definitely worth our while considering that i’m going to be building a house soon enough out of wood and i don’t want to spend all my time chopping trees down um

We do have our mini tree farm going back here and that’s chugging away producing a little bit of each of these for us which is not too bad i’ll talk about the new addition there in a moment uh let me empty my bags out here

So as i said the last episode we spent a lot of time on ours nouveau which is a mod that i’m excited to get into in the early game of this let’s play and uh has a lot of things to offer us that um we’ve already gotten a little bit

Into and there’s a lot more to get into as well that we’re excited about i’m excited about i i hope you’re excited are you excited about get excited get excited guys okay so i have to quit enough i don’t have to dump that and we’re lagging a little bit seems to

Always lag just a touch when i first uh get into the world that’s interesting okay uh so ours new vote the first thing we did uh you might recall that we had two books in in our miscellaneous gesture from when we went to the village

I’ve used both of those now one of them was to make a worn notebook so if we look at the mod r’s nouveau there’s warren notebook that took just simply a book with a management now we only had a couple managements to start off in last episode

We’ve got two left it looks like um mana gems uh come from arcane ore in the world and so we can mine them down in the mines there um they have a mining level let’s check it out real quick mining level for arcane ore looks like you want to be

Kind of below level 43. so down in the diamond level down in the gold level would be happy getting plenty of arcane war uh that said uh so we we used some arcane war to go ahead and make a worn notebook one notebook is the entry level into

This mod many mods will have a book i think this is the first one i’m looking at in the list let’s play series so let’s just take a quick look at and see what it offers us uh so then we’ve got a getting started section resources tier one two and three spells

We’ve got machines automation magical equipment and then some tools down here the entry index is very useful it lets you essentially search because it’s by output of order so if we start off in the getting started section here the first thing that we wanted to do in this mod is get

Some two resource generation things going so the first thing was the uh that we did was the monogems over here we made what’s called a crystallizer so actually we can sneak view that and here’s the crystallizer isn’t that kind of cool so since i’m holding the book when i’m

Not holding the book nothing when i hold the book we get this crystallizer sneak to view so i can shift right click and it gives me the entry automatically for that we don’t have to go find it chris the crystallizer provides a renewable res renewable source of management by condensing world mana

Over time we’ll talk about world mana in a second the crystallizer can work passively at a very slow rate or it can be given mana from adjacent jars to create mana gems as as at a much faster rate the crystallizer may also be accessed by hoppers and

Carbuncles okay so here we go we’ve got the crystallizer we can see i set it up with a hopper we used a lot of iron off last episode we’re not gonna have much to use this episode i don’t think uh and so and then a chest down below

Here and this is producing more mana gems for us not much though as it said it’s very slow when it’s just completely passive as it is right now i think it’s producing one every 15 minutes or so not a waste of energy but it’s not going to produce a lot of

Management for us guys i just get really choked up over these uh these crystallizers and the mana gems sorry sorry i just need a minute uh this right eye loves to post water okay so moving on we’ve got our management generating here the other really important thing in this mod

Is going to be shown after a nap um so there’s two types of mana used in arsenal we’ve got world mana and we’ve got personal mana computer is lagging i might be back in a second guys okay back again guys we had a little crash there uh modded minecraft can be a little

Unpredictable i’m not sure what culvert was there but we’re back at it here let’s see if it lets us take our nap now yay it seems to be not a crashing pond napping this time awesome all right so if we head out here i’m going to show you the other

Main thing that we kind of got going last episode we’re going to really need to fill these in soon but what we did is we also got a world mana generation going so these mana jars here whole mana you can see the purple sort of liquidish looking

Thing in there it is not a liquid it’s not treated as liquid in terms of buckets and um and whatnot in minecraft however uh it does have a fill rate so if you look in the upper left hand corner of the screen we can see in white text it says this

One is 80 82 full and if we head into our garden here which is newly fenced and start harvesting some things then what we will see is that every time these plants grow now that they are going to be growing from scratch again uh it will start sending some particle

Effects let’s see if we can demonstrate it for you quickly here tomatoes yummy i like the sound that tomatoes make when you harvest them it’s kind of fun okay there we go so you saw a particle effect there uh this whole garden pretty much should be

Uh heading out to all four of these and it doesn’t split between them it actually powers all four equally so it’s a good idea to use multiple mannequin densers here the mannequin denser needs to have a mana jar underneath of it which it fills and we can have these mannequin dancers triggered

To create mana for the mana jars for in a number of ways you can do it by killing entities you can do it by breeding entities and you can do it by uh growth of uh of growable farm items uh that’s what we’re doing here since we already had a farm going so

Great source of mana for us what i’d like to do if i can to improve upon this have i caught you up yet no we’ll talk about the spell book in a second which is really where things start to get exciting for ours nouveau uh all right let’s dump these plants we

Don’t need all of this on us um That as well and what i would like to do is make some more arcane stone arcane stone is a crafting material that’s used in making some of these things so when we made our crystallizer right here uh it involves some arcane stone a mana gem as which we’ve already discussed and some gold

So arcane stone is going to be important crafting elements in all of these different machines arcane stone is made with mana gems and i believe smooth stones let’s check this out you can get some stone please one two three awesome up to 24 of those okay and that used all of our

Managements up but that’s okay we’ll get more eventually matter of fact we’re going to get some more much more quickly soon in the second year so we need we are running real low on sand we’re only going to be able to do one more mana jar but that’s okay pop this in here

Copper dust doesn’t want to go in there oh we’re out of power out of power luckily we’ve been making a bit of charcoal the power is going to become a priority very soon once we are done with playing with arsenal and getting some cool spells here

In an episode or two we will be looking at power uh and how to uh gets a better power generation than just dumping coal into this thing all the time you have a glass yet glass is being made awesome okay so what we went want what we went well we went there

This is a man bridging over into other words i talked about in the last episode that i can’t figure out if it’s supposed to be mana or mana i think it’s different based on the uh the canon that you’re in uh but in uh this episode i cannot

Decide on one that’s probably annoying to the viewer i apologize for that so that’s what we want to do is make some managers get our glass i think seven was exactly what we needed no thank you where are you coming from there’s no monster spotting spots here he’s gotta

Be coming from way down there might need like a door into the mine lots of things to do guys okay the mind situation is going to be improved by elevators eventually but uh for that we need some end of pearls and i still have i think i have successfully killed

Probably four endermen at this point not a single one has dropped the pearl so no luck on that front all right so we’ve got our glass can i get a new mana jar not enough glass five what happened here huh curtis warren oh we already had the two in here which i didn’t

Have yet okay here we go uh where’d you go manager i have a jar and a jar i’ll try to stick to that just for the sacred consistency we’re going to stick to mana instead of mana um 100 full on this one so i’m going to take that away

And replace it with our empty one we just made awesome mana continuing to be made already ten percent full nice uh over here then we’re going to take that mana jar and stop with the passive production over here and instead have some active production so that should

Wow yeah you can even see the particle effects that’s nice let us know this is producing more we’ve got one i don’t know if that was there when we got there but this should yeah there we go it’s producing a lot better for us but look at that mana

It’s running out real fast it’s already at 68 66 64. i believe it might be one gem per half of this container so two mana gems per full container we’ll see what we get here i think it’s gonna be more than that though one was already in there let’s assume

One was already in there it’s up to four now so maybe maybe it’s four per jar nice that is cool we got some mana gems all right so mama james will be useful let’s just pick that up it’s not gonna do us any good sitting there empty now

Um and actually we can replace another one i think we have another full one out here we’re not going to get more mana gems for the moment but we might as well make sure these things are getting the benefit of all these plants growing all right so this is something else we

Made this is called a glyph press which is used to create new things for our spell book so the spell book is really the core uh thing in this mod that is going to give us abilities as a player walking around in the world okay so we can cast spells

And it’s quite powerful so there’s a couple of hotkeys and this will kind of show you how the spells work we’ve got z and x and these will cycle through spells if you look in the lower left hand corner of the screen you can see in white

Text the spells that i made last episode there is distance break magic missile fuse rod and speed buff and then five the fifth slot six slot these are all empty and i haven’t i haven’t named anything or put anything in there yet uh just below that we have a very pretty

Mana bar that’s my personal mana and as i cast spells i got the speed buff here not a huge speed buff but i got a speed buff i can cast it multiple times you see the mat the personal mana goes down it just automatically regenerates there are ways to get it to regenerate

Faster and to have more personal mana uh but uh it’s pretty easy to get it to regenerate it will automatically do it pretty quickly out of time so we have let’s run through let’s actually take a look at the next thing in the spellbook so if we press

C this enters crafting mode so this sort of opens the spell book up we can see tabs one through ten one for each of the different spells so we’ve got the ones that i already showed you and then some empty tabs here that are not set up yet

So let’s construct a spell so i can show you how this works we’ve got tab five there’s forms there are effects these are glyphs there are form glyphs there are effect glyphs and there are augment glyphs and we’re going to combine glyphs down here in a chain

To essentially just uh do some sort of basic coding to tell our spell what we want it to do so you start with a form we’ve got so far projectile touch and self think those are pretty self-explanatory we’ve got brake harm knockback and speed we’ve already used all those

Effects and we’ve also got amplify so let’s just go ahead and redo the harm spell which i call magic missile just because it is a super useful spell so i’ll show you how we made that projectile is what i chose this means it’s going to shoot a beam out

Uh and the beams go real far it’s got a real nice range and then your effect just once but then we got this augment last episode i’ll show you how those work in the glyph press it cost us one diamond to get the amplify augment and it was more than

Worth it because we can apply this and we can apply it multiple times now i can’t fill this all the way up yet we will do that eventually but right now we don’t have enough mana for that so right now if we did this i believe it will let us cast

So i went ahead and hit create i haven’t named it yet so if we get out of here this is just called spell five right now but you can see it is casting okay so with three amplifies i’m able to cast but it uses up

About two thirds of my mana bar a whole big chunk of it okay so still worth it though because that is going to i think two shot most of our basic mobs that are around i’m not sure how it does on an enderman maybe three or four shots on an anime at least

Um with more augments if we add all these amplifies and hit create to update the spell now if i right click i know you can hear my annoying without quick so i’m sorry about that uh if i right click then uh it won’t even let me cast a spell so i’m

Too low level right now we haven’t gotten enough mana we’re going to be able to develop our mana in a variety of ways and we’ll get to that right now so let’s head over here spending most of my time in this episode on review but we’re about to make some new stuff

Right now so this is the glyph press so if we want to ever add oh i’ll show you one more hotkey before i move on to with pressed on the spellbook here we had z and x to cycle through the spells we had c to get into the crafting mode

And then we’ve got v right next to that gives you a little weapon wheel here it’s real nice to get all of your spells so if you like a weapon wheel v and then escape to get rid of it v skate so v or you just choose the one you want so

Very nice we’re gonna eventually end up with like healing shield magic missile and a freeze spell so you could uh very conceivably do all magic based combat and switch between them uh quickly by doing this pretty cool okay so there’s our weapon wheel let’s check out the lift press so

If we want to add more effects which there are many many more effects and more augments which there’s several more augments and more forms which i think there’s one or two more forms then we got to do that by getting glyphs so if we check out

Our book here i just linked to it but this is the worn notebook right so right there let’s have a snack and really i should sleep before we do much more i don’t see any enderman about so we’re gonna skip in combat tonight and just take a

Quick nap so to find out what kind of glyphs we can have available to us or what we have available to us at this point we check on our warm notebook and this is the tier chapter so tier one two two two three we are firmly in tier one right

Now let’s check out tier one there is a lot of stuff to get here so it lists the one we already have the ones we already have projectile self and touch uh and then it’s got a bunch of new ones okay so let’s just start getting into

These one of the time the ones that we don’t have this might be a little tedious but it is going to be necessary to get our map up because what happens is each one of these that you learn so when we learn roon uh we it is going to get us

Uh get us more mana so even if we’re not going to use the roon uh roon glyph right away to make any spells why is that not working uh this is the only one yes uh even if we don’t use that glyph right away it’s still worth our while to make mana

Now we are limited by magical clay for each one of these glyphs so magical clay costs a management for each one of those in addition to some redstone and clay um so we’re going to be limited to only seven of these right now so i take it back we’re not going to

Systematically go through them quite yet but let’s go ahead and make the rest of our clay magic play please there’s different levels of this for the different tiers tier one we’re gonna need this and that should give us five more cool and there all right now we’re going to need magic clay

Which goes in here we can just right click it in there thank you and then we’re also going to need a reagent in addition to this uh mana jar which i put the lift press right next to in order for it to create a glyph so what reagent

Do we want let’s see what both we want to make we’re not going to do room quite yet let’s see if we can find some that are going to be especially useful to us so cut is a essentially a pair of shears i wouldn’t mind having

A pair of shears as a spell to carry around so let’s get some shears freeze is cool Harm we’ve already got of course harvest ignite knock back launch leap oh these are really cool so let’s see can we get slow fall do we have any feathers yet so let’s see feather uh what was the first thing that we did feather shears yeah feather shears for cut

And then one other thing let’s go with launch which oh we don’t have slime balls yet so we can we do a leap yeah and we’ll get a spider eye so spider eye feather and shears let’s see what we can do about those things spider eye cool no feathers uh and sheer Do you think we have a little bit of iron just enough for some cheers okay slightly more than enough we could make four pairs of shears guys we are i take it back we are completely iron wrench okay so there’s our shears and our spider eye and we’re gonna have to

Think about a feather in a second okay so if i go over here we’ve got the magic play already in there right click with the shears and we can see our little animation that starts working there’s the glyph particles particles particles ooh magic magic magic and there it is pick our glyph up

Thank you and now that it’s in my inventory i can just right click it and it disappears gone for good but if we check in our spell book now that glyph is available to us so cut we can make a new spell with cut so this one actually we’re going to clear

Because it was a duplicate of the magic missile over here and let’s just go ahead and clear that and make cut so i think we definitely want projectile and cut and we don’t need to amplify that i don’t think okay so we’ll call this just simply shear cheers

Shear shear is the verb right spell is the verb that’s happening maybe i don’t know that’s not the case in magic missile uh so does this work on these no what can we cut hmm not quite sheers did i misunderstand what cut did let’s take a look at the text on pet

Shoes entities and clocks or damages non-shareable entities for a small amount costs nothing oh that’s kind of cool it costs nothing so i’m assuming it’ll work on sheep but for some reason it’s not working on weebs which i would expect to be shareable so interesting anyway not an

Essential spell mostly we wanted the extra man out of it so let’s make our next one which is the spider eye uh clay first and then the spider and then do we have any chickens there’s like not hardly any uh wildlife in this area i think that is because i went

Murderizing early on and just killed them all off and just destroyed the environment in my local environment we are here and now i cannot get myself a feather for the wife of me this is forest over here that might be slim pickings for chickens yeah i always said it slim pickings for

Chickens uh so there are pigs and cows but i feel like chickens like less treed areas let’s just keep looking so if you wonder how i’m checking that just to remind you we have a mini map in the upper right hand corner it has little icons on it so there’s

Pink ones for the pigs and there’s little brown and um gray i guess squares uh for the cows ouch what was that source berry from argentina let’s grab these [Applause] wouldn’t you’re stuck with a big but not grab that Okay so source berries are going to be a crafting material later on in arsenal so we might as well look at that i think we can actually make mana potions with it so i’m talking about mana if we want to be able to get it back quickly that might be a solution chickens

I do like this biome too all these biomes are nice so grizzly bears from alex’s moms once again i believe they’re interesting they are i think that they act like vanilla polar bears in that they are sort of neutral but if you get too close

Or if you get to a baby oh yeah i got two posts okay so let’s see i don’t really want to kill the poor grizzly bear i think we’ll leave them alone we’re gonna assume they’re endangered in our minecraft world and leave the grizzly barrel out but uh i will demonstrate you know

Our purpose is to teach you guys sorry grizzly bear your time has come all right uh endangered grizzly bears we’re just gonna go ahead and do this and go hunting for them where are you there we go so that was our magic missile spell didn’t do much to the grizzly bear this

Grizzly bear is buff oh there we go it’s actually actually doing quite a lot to him so i can’t click it a lot though because you noticed my mana disappeared it’s taking two thirds of that bar each time but it did pretty good maybe those bears

Are hard to kill and it took that grizzled right down the foreheads i think it was uh okay still looking for chickens guys eye on the prize oh there’s a doggy this is where the donkeys are over here no hair of the bear interesting uh no bones though

In our inventory so we have to wait on that all right back in a minute oh you know what i’m not going to do that i’m not going to cut it all because i see chickens here we go chickens to the south hang it right and if you’re looking on

The mini map there down this river there’s some little tiny icons that show a little chicken head and so those are our chickens chicken imagine missiles about to come out of nowhere and make your day a lot worse or miss you completely feathers thank you might as well grab a

Few more while we’re out here eventually we’re going to want to have some chickens but now i just watched each other’s guys of course i’m getting no feathers bad karma i got two feathers from the first chicken and i decided to get greedy and now no more feathers all right let’s head home

Let’s head home all right guys not quite back at the base yet but i just had to show you this mod that i found on the way back it’s a frog from pork never seen one of these before that’s a weird looking frog but he’s kind of cute it looks like a

Blob fish kind of or something which i think there’s also bob fish in this pack fish fish the mouse’s box of course what other mob would have such a thing okay so let’s get our spellbook ready we might have some combat on the way back here

Come on enderman where are you guys i need your pearls we’ve got like a list of three or four things people have to make better for these enterprise for right now and more to come and their pearls are a needed commodity commodity commodity i can say that word

I’m gonna say that sword is gonna be easier though spell when i’m trying to deal with multiple ones here it’s kind of getting hard for somebody okay ederman where are you guys no such luck are we in like anti-enderpearl territory do i have a ender pearl curse

Pop you in there clay and feather and we’ll have a little nap while that presses and pick up our slow fall glyph okay slow fall where’s that still with them right behind me nice magic muscle for the win it’s that time okay you know okay this is a small thing

But i just realized that i can change the color on this and magic missiles in my head are not orange at all so let’s go with more of like a pink can we do that what would pink be is that like wes red and green it’s not showing me what this it looks

Like so i’m just going blind i think okay it’s pink enough it looks like a magic missile okay so what do we want to do next i think it’s about time to wrap up here guys to be honest uh but let’s go ahead real quick before we do that

And have a snack and start and use our new glyphs real quick so the new glyphs were valuable in and of themselves even if we never use them for a spell because they give us more man right we can’t see that this bar never changes it’s always just as a percent but uh

When i cast this spell now look at that it used to take away two thirds of the man and now it takes away less than half so i can actually boom boom cast two magic missiles at once which is a big improvement so just those three quests was pretty good

I’m not sure how that works exactly but i know you get more mana for each cliff you uh you do so let’s go ahead and do one more spell here uh this would be spell six slot six uh what do we have we got what’s new cut we already used we’ve got

A leap and slow fall so let’s try to leap first so this is going to be something we’re going to cast on self i believe and leap and great and let’s give this a try what does it do there we go so it’s just kind of a boost forward

Uh this is there’s another i’ve named one fus this is another shout in uh skyrim the shoot forward one which i cannot recall the name of right now uh okay but we can improve this of course so it’s using not much man effort for each one of

Those so let’s go ahead and feel free to amplify it and see what happens great awesome What happened there okay so we used a lot of mana but it didn’t seem to actually change what happened there at all let’s try up here where it’s a little more open whoa there we go so it works if you shoot up so that spell that effect that i was using is called

Leap and you just saw why when you start to amplify it you can use it to leap up out across lots of directions and you can see how that’s going to be useful for us in exploring however i died which really is not uncommon for me

We know this by now but uh if i want to make use of this new spell at all especially with all those amplifiers on it i’m gonna have to do something about that which is exactly why we got our next new glyph so let’s take a look at that

So instead of just this we’re gonna try to add on slow fall here wouldn’t it be nice just have slow fall so slow fall will cast the slow fall buff on us and so as we do this we should get slow falling for 26 seconds so now

I can shoot myself way up into the air and not worry about the fall down because we’ll just slow fall down so is this as convenient as the jet packs and creative mode type things that might be available to us in a later game no but it is pretty darn powerful for

The early game where we’re at right now so if we want to be on top of those trees boom on top of the trees now we only get one cast because with all those amplifies it takes a lot of mana right one cast i can’t just like spam it

To keep moving but that is pretty cool that’s a pretty big leap i wonder let’s just try one tweak before i wrap up the episode here uh if we do less of these and leave the slow fall how much mana does that cost that’s still like half of

Our mana so we can’t quite spam it it would be nice to be able to spam this thing to just sort of travel around and once we have more mana uh it will get to that point but for right now that is we’re going to wrap up we’ve got some pretty cool

Spells this episode and some more mana to work in ours nouveau i think we will probably continue planning ours devo in the next episode uh as well as doing a few quality of life things we need a backpack for one thing and uh if we can ever get

Some ender pearls we are going to start making some cool things with those as well so lots of exciting things to come i can’t wait to show all of that to you once again to remind you you are very loved and welcome on my channel thank
