Fully Automated Mining Tutorial | Modded Minecraft

Hello everybody and welcome to key smash studios and this is another minecraft tutorial today we’re going to be going over mining turtles a super cool device used for super great early game automated mining so let’s go ahead and get right into it let’s go all right so we are at our mining turtle

Facility here you can see a bunch of prepped mining turtles ready to do their jobs but today i want to teach you how you’re going to make these so begin to explain what they are mining turtles are robots that you can actually program to do jobs now this programming is very

Complicated so we’ll get into that in another video if you guys want but for now i’m going to explain the basics and how you can build these bad boys so to start this mod off you’re going to need some simple kind of early game materials and the hardest things to get are three

Diamonds and an ore called all the modium that you can find in oceans in this particular mod now this might be particular to all the mod 6 but we’ll get into that at another time for now just know that you need at least one of those ore

And you’re going to need some diamonds so the first thing that we want to build is a computer the computer is kind of the root of these mining turtles that we’re going to be building now a lot of people will think a computer i built those in other mods that’s going

To be really hard to work with but it’s not actually these computers are extremely easy to build that’s why these are i consider these an early game item so to build the computer you’re going to want to get yourself some good old-fashioned stone get your cobblestone throw it and cook it in a

Regular stone you should know how to do that some redstone and some glass panes go to your crafting table and take your stone and make a table out of your stone like you’re making yourself a pair of stone pants drop yourself one redstone in the middle and one

Glass pane on the bottom and you get a computer alright so to get from a computer to a turtle it actually does not require a lot of material this is all material you should have early game so you will need one of these all the modium ingots this

Might be a little harder to find than your average early game material but otherwise you need iron and that’s it so head back to your crafting station put in your computer dead and center one all the modium ingot and surround it with iron and there you go you’re gonna have yourself a

Unassigned turtle so this turtle is ready to accept a job you can see here he’s just a normal standard old turtle i’m gonna go and lay him down this turtle right now is holding no tools he has nothing going for him he’s just chilling here so to give him a

Job to make him a minor head over to your crafting bench and make yourself a diamond pickaxe if you’re a bonafide minecraft player this should be natural to you and now that you have both the pickaxe and the turtle it’s pretty simple simple as it gets you take your turtle

You take your pickaxe you make yourself a mining turtle just like that one here just like these bad boys on the opposite side the mining turtle does what i said it mines it’s a great tool for mining automatically and technically you can assign these multiple jobs

So say i wanted to take my diamonds i i got extra why not and make myself another diamond pickaxe or even a diamond x uh here you know what we’ll make a diamond x to showcase this you’re gonna get your resources go to your crafting bench and make yourself a diamond axe

You can put your turtle in and this arm is full you can’t do anything here but this hand’s empty and you can make yourself a mining felling turtle now we’re not going to explain felling in this video but a mining felling turtle looks a little something

Like that he’s gonna have a pickaxe and an axe now they have to be diamond i cannot stress this enough you cannot do an iron pickaxe it has to be a diamond pickaxe to create one of these so that is going to be probably your heaviest cost all right so the way that

You get these things to work is by giving them a fuel source and giving them a job with the mining turtle you’re really gonna see two jobs and you’re going to need fuel for that so i’m just going to take a bunch of coal that i gathered earlier

And show you how to do these jobs with these robots over here so these are capable of doing a lot of things winding turtles are actually designed and put into this game to promote people practice programming i believe the language these are programmed in is called luna or that you

Can program them in but what you can do is learn how to code in that language create tasks for these machines to do and actually inject that into this mod pack and into these turtles and run that command yourself so you can have them doing all kinds of complex

Tasks if you have the knowledge to program it but that’s not what this beginner’s tutorial is about i’m just going to utilize two functions that they come pre-packaged with that are already ridiculously useful and those are excavate and tunnel so let’s start off with the excavate

Feature we’ll go to this one right here and as you can see on the back they have a picture that looks like a chest that is because you want to set them up with that facing any kind of chest and all you have to do is put the chest behind them

And they will offload into the chest so i want to excavate a hole what excavate does is it will tell this robot hey dig until you run out of fuel or until you hit bedrock once you hit bedrock come back and wait where you started for new instructions

And as it fills up its inventory that you can see here it will dump things into this chest so i’m going to give this thing some fuel and where you want to put it is this first kind of bordered slot that is where the fuel is going to be

Pulled from so now i can type excavate and you can see it auto fills out there are some more commands but the most useful for mining are excavate and tunnel alright so now i’m gonna type in the number so i’m gonna type excavate and spell properly and then put in the number one

It is going to literally dig a hole directly down until it hits bedrock and it will not stop at anything it’ll automatically pick up everything and burn fuel as it goes so we’re just gonna let him work for now and try our best not to fall into this

Hole something important to note that is that as it digs it will actually pick up everything and if it runs out of fuel it will return to where it starts however if it picks up coal while it’s down there mining it will take that coal and use it to

Continue mining further so it will be self-sufficient if it finds the resources it needs so we’re just gonna let him work for a while and see what he brings back for us let’s show that off on a bit bigger of a scale now so we’re gonna go to this

Gentleman right here who’s waiting for a job and do the same thing we’re gonna take some coal put 64 in there excavate is already typed in and i’m going to do three this time so he’s going to go three forward and three to the left or right and then make a square

So two three two three so he’s checked the top layer now he goes down to there and he’s just going to continue digging in this hole until he hits bedrock or runs out of fuel and you can see here his inventory is collecting everything dirt materials until his inventory is

Full and he comes to dump it he’s going to keep working so we’re going to let him go oh and you can see here this one just came up and is dumping materials and that it’s picked up it’s already got us some appetite some pretty it might have already made it to bedrock

Actually being as it came up yeah you can see bedrock right down there so he has already done his job valiantly this one will continue to work while we explain the rest of the demo the last function i’m going to showcase here is a function called tunnel say you’re already underground

And you’re trying to set up a place that you can mine for or strip mine and you don’t want to have to dig out all of the rock in front of you for 100 yards you can go to your little turtle put in some coal and type

Tunnel it’s going to dig a three by two tunnel you can’t change the size of tunnel but you can tell it how far forward to go so let’s just start with a total of 10. let’s make him go 10 units forward so he’s going to check left and right and then go forward

Do two tall three wide and he’s just going to continue pushing forward and digging you a tunnel to walk through now the only true downside to this and issues that i’ve run into are if you’re tunneling underground there are a lot of lava systems and with these lava systems if they run

Out of fuel while tunneling underneath a lake of lava it’s not going to get destroyed but it will just sit there under a mountain of lava unable to return to you because he ran out of fuel another thing to note about these tunnel bots is that you have to be careful once

They complete their tunneling job they don’t return they stop where they are when their job is complete so now that this bot has mined his one two three four five six seven eight nine ten spots out ten starting from where he was so this would have been the 10th right here

Now that he has mined that zone out his job is complete you can see it says tunnel complete tunnel complete his job is done he’s going to wait here for us to come and maybe tell him hey tunnel 10 more times and push his way through another thing to note with these mining

Guys is to be very cautious where you put them as you can see this is a large hole and you can have them dig a whole 15 by 15 large so that would be a massive gap all the way to bedrock it can really ruin the environment that you’re

A part of and also create a bunch of deathly pitfall traps because if i fall down there right now i’m gonna die i would suggest finding a place far away from your base that you can set these up as to not disrupt your usual activities

Or using a mining realm if the mod pack that you’re using has both turtles and a mining realm because these can be a very very large annoyance to cover up or work around by the way this guy has finished his job he has dug all the way

20 paces and made it all the way through this big old rock that was randomly bothering us so these things are extremely useful for terraforming large chunks of land that you don’t want to personally give your time to when you could be working on other mods or collecting resources

For furthering your progression into whatever mod pack you’re playing alright the last thing that i’m going to teach y’all before we end this is how to make an advanced mining turtle these ones aren’t gold just because i thought it was pretty they are actually slightly faster slightly more fuel efficient than their

Brethren so now we have to make the advanced turtle and i like to start by making the advanced computer so say you already have a bunch of extra computers lying around take one and your whole stack of gold put the computer in the middle and put

Gold a pair of gold pants over the top of it and you have your advanced computer to get from a computer to a mining turtle we have to make an unassigned turtle and that works again in much the same way you’re going to take one of these

All the modium ingots put it at the bottom put your computer in the middle and put the pants on again and now you’ll have an advanced turtle so to assign it with a job get yourself your diamond pickaxe ready put it up against your turtle and boom

An advanced mining turtle these work in exactly the same way as the ones i have shown you they’re just a little faster so for instance say we have our regular mining turtle and our advanced mining turtle going in a competition for fairness we’ll start the regular mining turtle first

So we’re gonna do excavate one he’s gonna take off here we’re gonna do excavate one and let it take off and you can see it’s working its way down to catch up with him while also being more fuel efficient they move ever so slightly faster and exercise a little more fuel efficiency

And boy you can see that these robots sure do get the work done while they’re waiting for you to finish explaining a tutorial overall these mining turtles are extremely useful mod packs tend to offer a wide variety of things to do such as blood magic or britannia or building giant monuments

So you’re going to not want to spend all of your time mining most likely and even if you do want to spend all your time mining it never hurts to have a friend to help you along the way these are extremely useful and the standard ones take materials that i

Guarantee you will have run across in your early game mining so i definitely recommend taking the time to build one of these so that you can push forward with the rest of your work and leave some of the grunt work to the machines either way those are insanely great and
