Hey everyone my name is whip and one of my favorite things to build in Minecraft are castles I think castles are one of the coolest things I love building medieval things whether we are building a giant defensive castle out on the coast that’s gonna be protecting all of our waterways Or building a giant magical castle school something or another for a bunch of wizards or things like that I just think it’s so fun to be able to do all these crazy things inside of the game and then also on top of that I personally have loved building a ruined Castle in the past so what we’re gonna be doing in today’s video is we’re gonna be building this here cotton candy castle that’s what we’re working on today I want to walk you all through the process as I go through for building up a plan for our castle building up the Basic shape of the castle as well and then in the next episodes which we are all going to be live-streaming this over on Twitch if you want to be seeing that the next episodes are all going to be what we were able to finish building up On Twitch and so I want to be focusing on the twitch side of we are gonna be building everything there live together the vod’s will all be available if people want to see the step-by-step process of it they’ll be available on my second channel flip – you can find a Link to that one in the description but that’s enough of personal shoutouts for me now let’s get into this castle build moving forward with this one we are going to be using worldedit here to help build the terrain and help speed things up so that I just don’t have to spend Countless hours placing in large amounts of blocks but what I wanted to start ourselves out with here is I want to make some custom terrain that we can use in order to create our castle on top of to give it an advantage being on the terrain here I want to make something More unique than what we do everywhere else I just felt like it’d be a really cool idea to lift this area up so what we’re using inside of here if you haven’t noticed already is we were using the sphere brush through worldedit this is a mod you can download on Java Edition or you can use it as a plugin on servers as well voxel sniper is another amazing one for those if you’re trying to do some large-scale terrain edits personally I understand well that it a little bit better so I’m using this one what we’re trying to do around here Though to prep the terrain you can kind of see we’ve divided up into three sections we have the right side over there with its lone Island per se which is going to be a large part of the defensive castle and then we have this large main section that’s gonna be A park a palace and all that other stuff and then there is that raised section which was gonna be the royal living quarters so that’s more of the royal feast hall throne room Palace type stuff like that and what we did here was in order to help ourselves out better with Worldedit and all that stuff is I changed all of the sand that we had over into I believe that’s gray concrete or something along those lines and using the gray concrete we’re able to quickly mask that over later because it’s not something that we’re gonna be building With so when we want to texture the terrain it’s a heck of a lot easier later on which is why we’re also you can see on the top side here we’re using wool to start to plan this area out and start laying out the base shapes of our Castle which on that side is like I’m entering to be more of the defensive side so you can see there we have I know it’s a little bit off in the distance here but we have some large rectangular shapes that are given before the gatehouse will be moving over there Shortly in just a second and then you can see these kind of rough walkways that we’re using to help ourselves out here to better understand the way for everything moving around here Orange is the general shapes that we’re gonna be using for the castle so not any really Like major points of interest inside of here these are just kind of the general structures and then we’re also gonna be using a light blue and yellow to help add some variety into the color so we kind of know where the different buildings are overlapping and coming Together and a big thing that I would recommend if you’re building your own castles in order to give yourself a lot more room for detailing make the walls of all of your main structures two blocks thick if you’re building a small Tower that’s supposed to be like a Staircase Tower or something on the outside that’s okay it’d be one thick because that’s just used for transportation but if you think defensibility wizen also gives you the ability to add a purse a like a wallpaper on the inside so it doesn’t have to be a stone interior you could Add a wood backing to it you’ve already planned that out for the space of the castle so you’re not taking away more interior space by just wanting to use those types of structures then what we’re doing up here on that light blue area that you can see is I want it to Add in a stables so this section on our side right now is meant to be more of the military district of castle so it’s the first area where people would be coming into you so obviously we want a lot of the guards stationed up there so I wanted to add a Full stables area inside the castle and then a lot of these structures are gonna be like barracks and armories or just different places for guards to be able to live in and work out of live out of and just go about their daily lives we need to add in a small training ground As well out here and you can see these small red lines that I’m adding in and those are more like retaining walls I guess they’re gonna be shorter walls whereas we have these big thick orange walls they’re gonna be like the main castle walls of all of the buildings Coming together and all that stuff and then we’re adding in a just a regular bridge to get us over to the other side a lot of people on the stream said that we should be using a drawbridge then here haven’t quite decided which route I want to be going for this one But I figured right now just a fancy ornate bridge would probably be my go-to for this and maybe we’ll add in some more like additional gate structures or something on that side one thing you’ll notice here at the very bottom center of the screen going back to the original Gatehouse is we we have those dotted lines in there I use these really really often for determining whether there’s going to be a gate or like a portcullis or like a wooden gate or whatever you want to be calling them so I have those like ones where it’s the one dot those Are gonna be like the iron barred gates that are gonna be coming all the way down the one that’s the two lines going across that’s gonna be a big wooden gate like a swing door swing gate I think they’re called I don’t know there’s a lot of different names for all those Things that I never remember them correctly moving up here into the next part of the castle however we are starting to add it into what is gonna be more of the palace area so this is more for housing and just people to live around here I was thinking this could Also have some artisan merchants so maybe the best blacksmith in the land could be living up here and some top royal merchants or things like that could be living over in this side area which is almost gonna be like a little roundabout street of sorts that allows People to move around all over the place then this could be placed we were like cooks could live the general servants could be living out here and kind of their the lower areas of the houses and it just gives us a lot more space for Things to be in this area and it kinda helps break things up a lot what you’re gonna see here on this left side though where’s just that open green area and kind of the bottom left now is that sex gonna remain open I know it doesn’t make A whole lot of sense seeing as the ocean is right behind us where the camera is right here now so we’d want a lot of defense coming from that side but I wanted to turn it into a large garden I felt it’d be really really cool to add In a garden area and just make something more unique inside of the area that we’re working in and I also felt like this castle was getting to be very very very large and I was trying to make sure that I didn’t go too crazy grand scale On my projects like I normally do this one I’m intending to be maybe a 3/4 part episode to be able to build up the entire castle so we’ve got a lot of building to be doing on this one so I think with that we’ll see where we go From here but I want to do that as a big garden and maybe we’ll do like a small retaining wall on the outside that could hold some catapults or something like that to help add to that defensive side but right now we’re focusing on building up the capacity that kind of bumped out Wall that looks a little bit rounded out there that’s gonna be the main throne room area and then kind of above that would be all of the royal living quarters and everything in here so these structure is gonna be rather tall one thing that I like to personally do on The castles that I’m building is changing the height of the structures so that as you go up to the castle as you go towards the throne room everything is kind of going up they’re getting up higher and higher into the air so whether you can easily do this by Working up a hill or you just start adding on additional floors as you get farther and farther up because we want the royal people to have the best view throughout the area they won’t be living in a lower building when somebody who’s like one of the regular guards is living In a barracks and they have the view of the entire city or the entire surrounding countryside like the royal family would not be okay with that they would want to have that best view that after all it is their castle so they want to have the best view of all so I Figured we would add them up here to the highest point in the clip I felt like that was a pretty cool way to do it then bringing in some more of our world at it action over here we are working back on planning out the structures on this far Side you’ll see me experimenting with a lot of different heights here what I’m doing is basically just edging out the base idea the base shapes of what everything is here if you’re struggling after you get that base plan on the ground I would really recommend doing this instead of jumping into building Right away and just spending the time of work on the base things in the front and then coming back later and be like oh I made this way too big it’s not it makes it’s not gonna make sense for what’s behind me take the time and use wool or Concrete powder or we’re using wool in this case because it’s just kind of a habit of mine but use that stuff to start stretching out and planning out the basic shapes of the roofs where all of the structures going to be you can even add in the general windows so you Kind of know the rough idea what you’re gonna be doing here and you can add in the tops of the towers and then detailing later on all it comes back down to is replacing the blocks that you have and then adding some details into the walls themselves so it’s actually Pretty easy to get through a lot of that action when you’re going through if you have that good strong plan from the start and you can see me coming in here and editing up smaller areas as much as I can like this one right here it’s just Too big and square for me so I’m just gonna break it up into a few different shapes right there and just adding in some more variety into the overall scheme of the castle and so having just this giant square in the middle I felt like it’d be a good idea to break It up into an upper section a flattened out lower section that we can have some people standing on and guarding the front inside area so the idea behind this castle is you if they break through the first gate there’s insulin gonna be an open courtyard area than a second Gate and inside that open courtyard area there’s gonna be defensive walls all the way around it so everybody who is defending the castle still has a chance to save themselves before they’re totally overrun and it’s kind of a cool idea to be able to add multiple styles like that throughout this entire place So I thought that was really cool to add in and then coming back through here adding in the last bits of our roofs along this back end I hope this all was fairly helpful for you all let me know what we should be adding into the castle Here moving forwards if you want to get some direct feedback if you want to ask some direct questions about this outside of the comments which I will be trying to pay attention to as much as I can be sure to stop over by the streams we’re Doing a lot of fun things over there we’re doing a lot of work on this castle for the next little while these are gonna be the sole ones that I’m building streams are Monday Wednesday and Friday roughly those three days depending on it the timing throughout the year with all The holiday season everything coming up right now there’ll be a little iffy but I plan on building up this castle until we can get it to be fairly finished up and done so anyways that’s all I’m going to be talking about today is planning out these structures I Do hope this was helpful for you all again next one we’re gonna be hopefully coming through here and building up this whole front section of this one I think it’s gonna be really cool to get this project finished up on this night at least and then we can start figuring out How we’re gonna be tackling that other one but there’s so many different things that we can use throughout here there’s so many different ways that we can detail these structures and start adding life I’m really excited for the challenge of building all of these diagonal structures and everything along Those lines so anyways that’s all for me today please hit that like button if you did enjoy subscribe if you are brand new and I will catch you on the
